Studies have been made on the role of the thyroid in the development of rats. In the first group of experiments, newborn rat received within a month mercazolyl which inhibits the activity of the thyroid; in animals of the second group, mercazolyl injections were combined with cold exposures which stimulated motor activity in animals. It was found that hypothyroid rats in both groups exhibit retardation of growth as compared to normal animals. However, retardation is less significant in animals of the second group, as it is indicated by smaller changes in the protein content and total mass of skeletal muscles.  相似文献

Caffeine was used to study the kinetics of cytogenetic damages repair in Chinese hamster fibroblasts. Its half-time (90 min) was shown to correlate with that of repair of slowly repaired DNA damages. The caffeine-induced increase in the number of irreparable DNA damages, attributed to inhibition of double-strand break repair, is in a quantitative correlation with the effect of the cytogenetic damage modification.  相似文献

Studies have been made on a possibility of compensation of growth retardation in hypothyroid rats by insulin. In 30-day rats, compensation is not complete, although hypothyroidism is less significant as compared to that in animals which received merkazolil together with insulin. Further administration of insulin to rats up to the 90th day, resulted in a significant increase in the growth rate of skeletal muscles, body mass, protein content of skeletal muscles, as well as glycogen content of the liver and skeletal muscles. Thyroid insufficiency may be compensated by insulin alone, i.e. without simultaneous administration of thyroid hormones.  相似文献

Thermophilic sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) oxidizing lactate, butyrate, and C12–C16 n-alkanes of oil at a temperature of 90°C were isolated from samples of water and oil originating from oil reservoirs of the White Tiger high-temperature oil field (Vietnam). At the same time, no thermophiles were detected in the injected seawater, which contained mesophilic microorganisms and was the site of low-temperature processes of sulfate reduction and methanogenesis. Thermophilic SRB were also found in samples of liquid taken from various engineering reservoirs used for oil storage, treatment, and transportation. These samples also contained mesophilic SRB, methanogens, aerobic oil-oxidizing bacteria, and heterotrophs. Rates of bacterial production of hydrogen sulfide varied from 0.11 to 2069.63 at 30°C and from 1.18 to 173.86 at 70°C g S/(l day); and those of methane production, varied from 58.4 to 100 629.8 nl CH4/(l day) (at 30°C). The sulfur isotopic compositions of sulfates contained in reservoir waters and of hydrogen sulfide of the accompanying gas indicate that bacterial sulfate reduction might be effective in the depth of the oil field.  相似文献

The word deals with the results obtained in the study of the reactogenicity and immunological activity of concentrated and inactivated tissue-culture tick-borne encephalitis vaccine, manufactured by the Chumakov Institute of Poliomyelitis and Viral Encephalitides, in the immunization of children and adolescents. The vaccine proved to be moderately reactogenic and exhibited pronounced immunological activity. In 91.5% of the immunized children the fourfold increase of the antibody level was observed. On the basis of the data obtained in this study the tick-borne encephalitis vaccine was recommended for use in medical practice for the prophylaxis of tick-borne encephalitis among children and adolescents.  相似文献

Spectrophotometric method was used for study the binding of bromthymol blue dye (BTB) with bovine methemoglobin in 15% solutions of ethanol, glycerol and polyethylene glycol with molecular mass of 1.5 kDa (PEG-1500). It was shown, that adsorption of BTB by methemoglobin decreased in the sequence: glycerol > ethanol > PEG-1500. It is supposed that adsorption of the alcohols on the BTS sites of binding on methemolglobin led to the decrease of the amount of binding sites accessible for the dye.  相似文献
