Accumulation of cesium and radiocesium in forest litter in selected regions of poland and its influence on litter-to-mushroom transfer factor

The aim of this work was to check whether the stable cesium content in forest litter affects the value of radiocesium from litter-to-mushroom transfer factorTf or not. Total cesium in litter, measured by AAS, varied from 0.1–2.7 μg/g. These data, combined with earlier results for mushrooms, showed no simple correlation forTf. More complex relationships provided very high correlation coefficients, but their validity needs further investigation.     

Practical value of Frank's leads in electrocardiographic diagnosis of myocardial infarction

Authors' own modification of Frank's leads is discussed. Potentials from these leads are recorded simultaneously with routine ECG. Frank's leads are used to increase possibility to diagnose myocardial infarction. Proposed leads in x, y, z, axis of Frank system enable to differentiate pathological QS wave in chest V1-V3 leads between myocardial infarction of the anterior wall and detectable intraventricular potentials in patients with emphysema. A lack of physiologic Q wave in "z+"-lead always indicates anterior wall infarction. Pronounced Q wave of "infarctional" character in y-lead x-lead--in the lesions to the lateral wall. Pathologies present in the posterior wall infarction while from cal Q wave from "z+"-lead facilitates diagnosis of the posterior wall infarction.     

Dissecting aneurysm of the ascending aorta as a late complication of the treatment of acquired defects of the aortic and mitral valves

A diffuse aneurysm of the ascending aorta was observed five months after prosthetic valve implantation in to mitral and aortic orifices because of the acquired valvular heart disease. The main factor predisposing to the formation of a false aneurysm was an infection of the endocardium and ascending aortal wall which were observed previously during cardiac surgery. The diagnosis, based on the clinical symptoms and non-invasive investigations, was later confirmed with aortography and intra-operatively.
