Migration and spawning behaviour of eight Atlantic salmon adult females were analysed by radio-tracking in relation to the degree of sexual maturity in a spawning tributary of the R. Sélune. Six of them were grilse and four of them were ripe. All the fish migrated upstream until reaching their spawning site at a distance of 4–12 km from the trap. The daily migration rate up to this site was inversely correlated with the length of the female. Spawning occurred in all fish at the same time when the water temperature increased dramatically. Spawning lasted 1–10 days according to the fish. After spawning, females quickly moved downstream only small distances and then stayed in approximately the same location until death. This study concluded that ripeness did not influence behaviour on the spawning migration and describes certain characteristics of the reproductive phase in a spawning tributary.  相似文献

Four compartments of a salmonid brook were studied in consecutive sections either at sector scale or at facies scale: physical features, water quality, macrophytes and salmonids. The most important factor in the spatial and temporal organisation was the longitudinal zonation assessed by the four compartments. It was mainly shown by a gradient of the length of the morphodynamic sequence and of the facies width, of the pH and the conductivity and of macrophyte cover. It induced a colonisation by older trout in the downstream part of the brook where growth was better and shelter given by the bankside vegetation was more abundant. There were also greater densities of other age-classes upstream, with a correlation between salmon and rock shelter. Furthermore, the second factor corresponded to the flow characteristics and a granulometry gradient. The third factor corresponded chiefly to lighting, salmon numbers and densities. Salmonids showed a temporal stability from spring to autumn,and an opposition between growth and density. Six clusters of sectors defined functional entities. With regard to the 3—dimensitnal structure of the brook, the special pattern of each compartment shows its contribution to the functioning of the whole. Taking into account the scale of the study, the coexistence between trout and salmon did not show a competition between the two species, but rather a spatial partition, thanks to thehheterogenity inside each sector. We concluded on the necessity of studying sympatry at the facies scale to assess the role of habitat factors as regulators of carrying capacity.  相似文献

UNC5H receptors (UNC5H1, UNC5H2, UNC5H3) are putative tumor suppressors whose expression is lost in numerous cancers. These receptors have been shown to belong to the so-called family of dependence receptors. Such receptors induce apoptosis when their ligand netrin-1 is absent, thus conferring a state of cellular dependence towards ligand presence. Along this line, these receptors may limit tumor progression because they induce the death of tumor cells that grow in settings of ligand unavailability. We show here that UNC5H receptors are localized to cholesterol-and sphingolipid-enriched membrane domains called lipid rafts. We then demonstrate that the lipid raft localization of UNC5H2 is required for the pro-apoptotic activity of unbound UNC5H2. We also propose that this lipid raft localization is probably mediated via the recruitment of adaptor protein(s) within the death domain of UNC5H2 but is not dependent on the post-translational modification by palmitoylation of UNC5H2 even though this palmitoylation is required for UNC5H2 pro-apoptotic activity. Moreover we show that the interaction of UNC5H2 with the downstream pro-apoptotic serine threonine kinase DAPk is dependent on both UNC5H2 lipid raft localization and palmitoylation. Thus, we propose that the UNC5H dependence receptors require lipid raft localization and palmitoylation to trigger apoptosis.  相似文献

The cryopreservation of isolated fish blastomeres is likely to provide a valid alternative to embryo cryopreservation, the results of which are still discouraging. A repeatable technique for the cryopreservation of rainbow trout blastomeres has been established and the effect of embryonic developmental stage on freezing tolerance evaluated. Embryos at Ballard 6A, 6B, and 6C stages were dechorionated and left to dissociate in a Ca2+- and Mg2+-free medium. Cryoprotection was provided by step-wise addition of 1.4 M 1,2-propanediol. Cells were loaded into the middle of 250-μl straws and slowly frozen to -80 degreesC before being plunged into LN2. A low thawing rate was adopted, followed by step-wise removal of the cryoprotectant. Morphological evaluation was by microscopy and video recording. Metabolic activity and survival rate were determined by FDA and PI staining, by recovery of the ability to reassociate after 24 h culture in Leibovitz L15 + 2% Ultroser, and by measuring DNA synthesis in 6B cells by the method of BrdU incorporation. Survival rates were 53 +/- 9.3, 88 +/- 1.7, and 95 +/- 0.5% for stage 6A, 6B, and 6C cells, respectively. While 6A cells reassociated into clumps of cells, 6B and 6C cells formed holoblastic morulas in 24 h; proliferation of 6B cells was comparable to fresh control cells. The relationship between freezing tolerance and the physiological events occurring during early embryonic development is discussed in light of these results and conclusions are drawn that envisage the transfer of frozen-thawed blastomeres into recipient embryos. Sexual maturation in sea trout ( Salmo trutto L.) running up the River Calonne (Normandy, France), at the finnock stage, is characterized. Autopsy of 118 finnock in summer showed that 87 ± 7% aged 2+ and 33 ± 15% aged 1 + were undergoing gametogenesis. In autumn all the fish were maturing. The analysis of plasma levels of 11-ketotestosterone, 17β-oestradiol, maturational gonadotropin and vitellogenin showed that only females in vitellogenesis can be well identified in summer (plasma vitellogenin greater than 0.30 mg ml-1). The morphological recognition of females among 134 autumn finnock and the ELISA assay of plasma vitellogenin of 814 summer finnock, demonstrated that vitellogenic females represented 12 ± 2%0 of the 1 + individuals and 46 ± 2% of 2+ fish captured during the 1985 run. The question of a possible relationship between the salinity tolerance ofjuvenile trout migrating towards the sea in the spring and their age on first migration in the river is discussed.  相似文献

The extent of cellular damage was investigated after freeze-thawing of the European catfish testicular sperm with various cryoprotectants. The best protection was given by dimethylacetamide (10 and 15%) in a sucrose solution. Under these conditions, the percentage of cells with an intact membrane was high (90%), and the protection of the activity of the mitochondria was medium (47%). It was shown that the addition of dimethylacetamide largely increased the ATP content of the spermatozoa. It is suggested that this phenomenon is a decisive factor for the freezing resistance of European catfish testicular spermatozoa in the presence of dimethylacetamide (60% motility after thawing versus 90% before freezing).  相似文献

Apoptosis is accompanied by major changes in ion compartmentalization and transmembrane potentials. Thymocyte apoptosis is characterized by an early dissipation of the mitochondrial transmembrane potential, with transient mitochondrial swelling and a subsequent loss of plasma membrane potential (DeltaP sip) related to the loss of cytosolic K+, cellular shrinkage, and DNA fragmentation. Thus, a gross perturbation of DeltaPsip occurs at the postmitochondrial stage of apoptosis. Unexpectedly, we found that blockade of plasma membrane K+ channels by tetrapentylammonium (TPA), which leads to a DeltaP sip collapse, can prevent the thymocyte apoptosis induced by exposure to the glucocorticoid receptor agonist dexamethasone, the topoisomerase inhibitor etoposide, gamma-irradiation, or ceramide. The TPA-mediated protective effect extends to all features of apoptosis, including dissipation of the mitochondrial transmembrane potential, loss of cytosolic K+, phosphatidylserine exposure on the cell surface, chromatin condensation, as well as caspase and endonuclease activation. In strict contrast, TPA is an ineffective inhibitor when cell death is induced by the potassium ionophore valinomycin, the specific mitochondrial benzodiazepine ligand PK11195, or by primary caspase activation by Fas/CD95 cross-linking. These results underline the importance of K+ channels for the regulation of some but not all pathways leading to thymocyte apoptosis.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of chiral enantiopure polytopic bridging ligands, which may lead to the formation of metallosupramolecular polymers with zinc (II) as metal linker. We show that chiral C2‐symmetric bisoxazoline ligands are useful moieties to efficiently generate heterochiral complexes and thus polymeric entities. The corresponding metallopolymers were further characterized by powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) to obtain information on the level of crystallinity of our different metallopolymers.  相似文献
