An earlier report (1) of an adverse effect of high doses of oxytocin on human memory included results of studies on women receiving oxytocin as part of the treatment to induce 2nd trimester therapeutic abortion. These women served as their own controls. We have now been able to study a group of women who have been treated in all ways like the original group, with the exception that they did not receive oxytocin. The results from this external control corroborate the finding that oxytocin affected memory.  相似文献

A model micronucleus test system using peripheral blood erythrocytes from larvae of Pleurodeles waltl is described. The most suitable larval stage for testing chemical treatments was determined. Larvae were reared in water containing one of the 4 compounds: benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS), diethyl sulphate (DES) and N-ethyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (ENNG). Response curves as a function of treatment duration over a period of 16 days were plotted for 3 different concentrations of the 4 compounds in order to optimize conditions for a low dose micronucleus test. This model can be used as a monitoring system for the detection of fresh water pollution and can also be employed for clastogen screening of chemical compounds. The test is sensitive, reliable and easy to use.  相似文献

The HLA-A2 and HLA-Aw69 molecules share an antigenic determinant not expressed by HLA-Aw68 and HLA-A3. Comparison of the amino acid (aa) sequences of these molecules and previous studies of the antigenic determinant expressed by different HLA-A2 X HLA-A3 hybrid molecules had established that three aa at positions 95, 97, and 107 were possibly involved in the formation of this determinant. The HLA-A3 gene was therefore mutagenized to replace successively at these positions the HLA-A3-specific aa by the HLA-A2 residues. A single substitution at position 107 of a glycine by a tryptophan residue is sufficient for full expression by HLA-A3 molecules of the HLA-A2/Aw69 shared antigenic determinant without modification of the other serological reactivities characteristic of the HLA-A3 molecules. Previous studies of ethyl methanesulfonate mutants having shown the involvement of aa 161 in this determinant, we assume that the two aa residues 107 and 161 are close to each other.  相似文献

Abelson murine leukemia virus-transformed precursor B lymphocytes from scid (severe combined immunodeficient) mice, like A-MuLV transformants from normal mice, actively rearrange segments of their Ig heavy chain variable region gene locus during growth in culture. Targeting of recombination to appropriate segments appears normal in these lines as evidenced by initial rearrangement of sequences from within the D and JH locus to form aberrant "DJH" rearrangements and secondary rearrangement of sequences from within the VH locus to the aberrant "DJH" intermediates. A detailed analysis of the joints in these rearrangements indicates that the VDJ recombinase in scid pre-B cells can correctly recognize heptamernonamer signal sequences and perform precise endonucleolytic scissions at these sequences. We propose that the scid defect involves the inability of scid precursor lymphocytes to join correctly the cleaved ends of the coding strands of variable region gene segments.  相似文献

A hypothesis concerning the molecular-dynamical basis of osmosis is presented. According to this hypothesis, osmosis results from the attractive force between solute and water molecules, and the exclusion of the solute from the water transport channels of the membrane. Based on this hypothesis, the osmotic process is predicted to involve a large number of short "spurts" of high magnitude force, with a spurt force per unit area of channel of RT/Vs, where R is the gas constant, T is absolute temperature, and Vs is solute molar volume.  相似文献
