Various diffusion processes employed for modelling logistic growth are briefly summarized. A discrete-time, discrete-state space stochastic process for population growth is proposed and analyzed with either Bose-Einstein or Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics for the distribution of offspring in available sites in a restricted region. A diffusion approximation is constructed, which differs from those previously employed. The logistic law is a natural deterministic analog of the diffusion process. 相似文献

In nature, the zinc metalloenzyme carbonic anhydrase II (CAII) efficiently catalyzes the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) to bicarbonate under physiological conditions. Many research efforts have been directed towards the development of small molecule mimetics that can facilitate this process and thus have a beneficial environmental impact, but these efforts have met very limited success. Herein, we undertook quantum mechanical calculations of four mimetics, 1,5,9-triazacyclododedacane, 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododedacane, tris(4,5-dimethyl-2-imidazolyl)phosphine, and tris(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine, in their complexed form either with the Zn2+ or the Co2+ ion and studied their reaction coordinate for CO2 hydration. These calculations demonstrated that the ability of the complex to maintain a tetrahedral geometry and bind bicarbonate in a unidentate manner were vital for the hydration reaction to proceed favorably. Furthermore, these calculations show that the catalytic activity of the examined zinc complexes was insensitive to coordination states for zinc, while coordination states above four were found to have an unfavorable effect on product release for the cobalt counterparts. 相似文献

An elaborate computer program to simulate the process of starch hydrolysis by amylolytic enzymes was been developed. It is based on the Monte Carlo method and iteration kinetic model, which predict productive and non-productive amylase complexes with substrates. It describes both multienzymatic and multisubstrate reactions simulating the "real" concentrations of all components versus the time of the depolymerization reaction the number of substrates, intermediate products, and final products are limited only by computer memory. In this work, it is assumed that the "proper" substrate for amylases is the glucoside linkages in starch molecules. Dynamic changes of substrate during the simulation adequately influence the increase or decrease of reaction velocity, as well as the kinetics of depolymerization. The presented kinetic model, can be adapted to describe most enzymatic degradations of a polymer. In order to test whether tRN A populations are correlated with (determined by or adapted to) the major proteins synthesized by tumor cells, RPC-5 Chromatographie profiles of aminoacyl-tRNAs from 11 mouse plasmacytomas and from normal adult mouse liver and brain were analyzed by the use of “dissimilarity indices” drawn from all possible pairs of tissues. Cluster analysis was then performed and dendrograms constructed. Although myeloma protein synthesis is only one of many proteins being synthesized by these malignant cells, a novel nonparametric statistical analysis of these dendrograms indicates that independently arising tumors have more similar profiles if their immunoglobulin light and heavy chains are very similar than if these chains are dissimilar (P < 0·015). Even more strikingly significant was the finding that drastic changes in myeloma protein synthesis such as loss of both heavy and light chain synthesis do not result in increased dissimilarity of aminoacyl-tRNA profiles (P < 0·00001). Unlike other eukaryotic systems such as sheep reticulocytes and silk worm silk gland which have been shown to adapt their tRNA populations to changes in protein synthesis, these plasmacytomas do not appear to do so.The novel use of statistical methods, esp. cluster analysis, to examine graphic displays of data may have useful applications in comparing other Chromatographie profiles, densitometric scans, etc. 相似文献

We showed that the Ad-sig-TAA/ecdCD40L vaccine induces a tumor suppressive immune response to the hMUC-1 and rH2N tumor-associated self Ags (TAA) and to the Annexin A1 tumor vascular Ag, even in mice in which anergy exists to these Ags. When the TAA/ecdCD40L protein is given s.c. as a boost following the Ad-sig-TAA/ecdCD40L vector, the levels of the TAA-specific CD8 T cells and Abs increase dramatically over that seen with vector alone, in young (2-mo-old) as well as old (18-mo-old) mice. The Abs induced against hMUC-1 react with human breast cancer. This vaccine also induces a 4-fold decrement of negative regulatory CD4CD25FOXP3-T cells in the tumor tissue of 18-mo-old mice. These results suggest that the Ad-sig-TAA/ecdCD40L vector prime-TAA/ecdCD40L protein boost vaccine platform may be valuable in reducing postsurgery recurrence in a variety of epithelial neoplasms. 相似文献

We investigate the relative performances of a class of goodness of fit procedures for randomly censored data. For purposes of planning experiments, we quantify the loss of information induced by censorship. We evaluate efficiencies against particular alternatives of interest in survival studies, as the amount of censorship increases. We caution against attributing various power and efficiency properties of the goodness of fit criteria that are obtained under no censorship to situations where the censorship is far from negligible. 相似文献
