A single 30-min exposure of mice to 2450 MHz microwaves (12 to 15 mW/g body weight) in an environmentally controlled waveguide facility induced a significant increase in the proportion of complement-receptor positive lymphoid cells in the spleen. This effect was further enhanced by repeated (three times) exposures, which in addition produced a significant increase in the proportion of Ig+ cells. The proportion of theta-positive cells and the total number of spleen cells remained unchanged.  相似文献

CBA/J adult male mice were given single or triple exposures to 2450-mHz microwaves in an environmentally controlled wave guide facility. The average absorbed dose rate for a single exposure varied from 12 to 15 mW/g. Sham-exposed mice served as controls. Lymphoid cells were collected and tested for metabolic activity on days 3, 6, and 9 following a single exposure, and on days 9, 12, and 16 following triple exposures on days 0, 3, and 6. Cells were cultured in vitro for four hours to seven days before their metabolic rates were assayed. Under these conditions, microwaves failed to produce any detectable change in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), and protein synthesis, as measured by the incorporation of methyl(3H)-thymidine (3H-TDR) (DNA substrate), 3H-uridine (3H-UR) (RNA substrate), and 3H-leucine (protein substrate) by spleen, bone marrow, and peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) in vitro. These data suggest that microwave-induced increases in the frequency of complement-receptor (CR)- or surface-immunoglobulin (sIg)-bearing cells were not associated with a concomitant increase in cell proliferation and/or protein synthesis, and favor the concept that microwaves under these conditions stimulate already existing B-cell precursors for maturation.  相似文献

The objective of the study was to demonstrate spontaneous contractile activity of the smooth muscle coat of the aorta in human and animal material. Spontaneous contractility of smooth muscle tissue, or tonus, is essential for the proper function of many internal organs as observed in the many types of muscle cells which make up the internal structures. The spontaneous contractile activity of the muscle tissue in blood vessels is particularly marked in resistance vessels, regulating circulation within organs or tissues. It can also be observed in large blood vessels such as arteries and veins. The contractile activity of muscular tissue isolated from arteries is the result of a number of factors, including endogenous paracrine substances, neurotransmitters released at postganglionic endings (mostly within the sympathetic system), cells capable of spontaneously generation of functional potentials (pacemaking cells) and the vascular endothelium. Pacemaking cells present in the aortic wall are an important factor in the development of the spontaneous contractility of the muscular coat of the aorta. They are capable of generating functional potentials, resulting in the constant tonus of the smooth muscular coat (comprising the aortic wall) due to tonic contraction. In vitro studies were carried out on abdominal aortic sections collected from 30 New Zealand rabbits with a body mass of 3-4 kilograms each and also on aneurysmal abdominal aortic sections collected during elective aneurysm repair procedures in humans (10 abdominal aortic sections). The 1.5 cm-long sections were mounted in chambers of an automated water bath. The sections were oriented in a transverse and longitudal fashion in order to compare contractility. The incubation medium consisted of Krebs-Henseleit buffer. Spontaneous contractile activity was observed during the study, characterized by rhythmic contractions of the muscular layer of the aorta. The contractile tension within the sections was 0.15 mN in the case of rabbit sections and 0.8 mN in the case of human sections. The average duration of a single contraction was 38.3 +/- 15.05 seconds. The average contraction frequency, i.e. the average number of contractions per minute, was 1.61 +/- 0.54 contractions per minute. The spontaneous contraction is modulated by many factors like endogenous paracrine substances, neurotransmitters or vascular endothelium.  相似文献

There is growing recognition that the gut microbial community regulates a wide variety of important functions in its animal hosts, including host health. However, the complex interactions between gut microbes and environment are still unclear. Honey bees are ecologically and economically important pollinators that host a core gut microbial community that is thought to be constant across populations. Here, we examined whether the composition of the gut microbial community of honey bees is affected by the environmental landscape the bees are exposed to. We placed honey bee colonies reared under identical conditions in two main landscape types for 6 weeks: either oilseed rape farmland or agricultural farmland distant to fields of flowering oilseed rape. The gut bacterial communities of adult bees from the colonies were then characterized and compared based on amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. While previous studies have delineated a characteristic core set of bacteria inhabiting the honey bee gut, our results suggest that the broad environment that bees are exposed to has some influence on the relative abundance of some members of that microbial community. This includes known dominant taxa thought to have functions in nutrition and health. Our results provide evidence for an influence of landscape exposure on honey bee microbial community and highlight the potential effect of exposure to different environmental parameters, such as forage type and neonicotinoid pesticides, on key honey bee gut bacteria. This work emphasizes the complexity of the relationship between the host, its gut bacteria, and the environment and identifies target microbial taxa for functional analyses.  相似文献

Seed dormancy release and germination of Corispermum lehmannianum Bunge were tested using various treatments: temperature, cold stratification, gibberelins (GA3), dry storage and sand burial. Results showed that temperature and light did not affect the germination of fresh seeds, cold stratification and GA3 could improve seed germination, whereas dry storage and sand burial did not. The germination percentage was highest at 35/20 °C after the cold stratification and GA3 treatments. Corispermum lehmannianum seeds were classified as non-deep, Type-2, physiological dormancy (PD), whose seed dormancy could be released by cold stratification and GA3.  相似文献

Investigation of disintegration of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the laboratory batch perl mill with a bell-shaped impeller was carried out. The number of non-damaged cells, changing in time was determined using hemocytometer (Thom's chamber). To describe kinetics of the disintegration process the differential equation was applied: where N p the number of non-damaged cells in the sample, [number of cells/ml] t time, [s] m,k constants. The effect of three operating parameters: rotation frequency of the impeller shaft n, filling of the mill with disintegrating elements (ballotini) S k and the initial concentration of yeast cells in the suspension C 0 on the process of disintegration was analyzed. For S k =0.5, m=1 and dependence of constant k on the rotation frequency of the impeller and suspension concentration were obtained. For S k =0.6 and 0.7 the values of m were higher than 1. The effect of rotation frequency of the impeller and filling of the mill, with ballotini on constant k and exponent m was determined.List of Symbols a, b constants - a 1, b 1, c 1, d 1 constants - C 0 initial concentration of suspension g/ml - C concentration of cell suspension g/ml - k constant disintegration rate 1/s; N 0 1-m /s - m variable in the equation - N 0 initial number of cells no. of cells/ml - N p number of non-damaged cells no. of cells/ml - r process rate g/ml·s - X(t) disintegration degree % - , variables in the equation - z variable in the equation - S k degree of filling the mill with disintegrating elements  相似文献

Stomata regulate gas exchange and their closure in response to pathogens may, in some cases, contribute to resistance. However, in the cereal mildew and rust systems, stomatal closure follows establishment of compatible infections. In incompatible systems, expression of major (R) gene controlled hypersensitive responses (HR), causes drastic, permanent stomatal dysfunction: stomata become locked open following powdery mildew attack and locked shut following rust attack. Thus, stomatal locking can be a hitherto unsuspected negative consequence of R gene resistance that carries a physiological cost affecting plant performance.Key Words: stomata, rust, mildew, hypersensitive response, stomatal lock-up  相似文献
