The psychrotrotrophic flora of chicken carcases in 3 different industrial processing plants has been studied. The micro-organisms, 5920 strains, were placed in 4 categories (arranged in decreasing order of the number of isolates): (1), Pseudomonas and Achromobacter (Acineto-bacter) ; (2) Flavobacterium, Corynebacterium and yeasts; (3), Aeromonas and Entero-bacteriaceae; (4), lactic acid bacteria, Micrococcaceae and Bacillus . Different types of strains belonging to these groups are described and the importance of each is discussed with reference to the observations of other authors. The proteolytic action of 1717 of the 5920 isolates was studied.  相似文献

Sensory analysis was applied to the study of thermal perception, in order to determine and characterize end‐users’ preferences concerning five indoor thermal environments generated by different heating systems. In this review, we developed a sensory profile method to describe and quantify the sensory characteristics of the thermal environments. A consumer test was also performed in order to investigate the hedonic judgment of 119 end users. The results show that trained assessors are able to describe and quantify sensory differences between the environments with high reliability. Consumers’ preferences are influenced by both their thermal sensations in the environments, as expressed by the sensory panel, and their personal opinions of the corresponding heating systems.  相似文献

Of 112 patients with hyperthyroidism who were treated with radioactive iodine, 110 were relieved of the disease. Nine had transient hypothyroidism. Twelve had permanent hypothyroidism. No other adverse effects that could be attributed to radioactive iodine were noted.  相似文献

Plant population genetic surveys are starting to take full advantage of technological advances in genotyping methods and of methodological advances in demographic inference. In this issue of Molecular Ecology, Keller et al. (2010) illustrate this trend with a particularly convincing study of rangewide genetic variation in a North American poplar, using both SNP and sequence data. They first investigate population genetic structure by estimating the most likely number of genetic clusters using a more formal approach than most other studies to date. They proceed by estimating gene flow among the inferred populations and by testing predictions on the distribution of low frequency alleles derived from recent work on range expansions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. The SSUrDNA and the ITS of different microsporidia from eight fishes, four insects and a shrimp were amplified and digested with restriction enzymes. The generated riboprints suggest a close evolutionary relationship between Glugea americanus and Spraguea lophii suggesting that Glugea americanus should be renamed Spraguea americanus and that the tissue infected and host origin should be considered of greater taxonomic importance for defining a genus than previously considered. Phylogenetic analysis of the riboprints demonstrates an unidentified microsporidium from a bumper fish ( Chloroscombrus chrysurus ) is related although not identical to Microgemma oviodea , a parasite from red band fish. We were also able to distinguish between Glugea anomala and Glugea atherinae and Glugea stephani but were not able to differenciate among the latter two. Insects isolates, Nosema costelytrae, N. bombycis, N. trichoplusiae, Nosema sp. and a shrimp isolate, Agmasoma penaei , are not related to the fish isolates.  相似文献

The coup de grâce for the nested clade phylogeographic analysis?   总被引:5,自引:4,他引:1  
Nested clade phylogeographic analysis (NCPA) has become a popular method for reconstructing the history of populations across species ranges. Ever since its invention in 1995, criticisms have been formulated, but the method, which has been regularly updated, continues to attract investigators. Molecular Ecology has published a large fraction of the literature on the topic — both pro and con. A recent study by Panchal and Beaumont (2007) finally allows a precise evaluation of the method by developing software that automates the somewhat complicated NCPA procedure. Using simulations of random-mating populations, Panchal and Beaumont find a high frequency of false-positives with their automated NCPA procedure (over 75%). These findings, which echo and amplify earlier warnings, appear serious enough to suggest to researchers to await further evaluation of the method. Although no other all-encompassing method such as the NCAP currently exists to evaluate phylogeographic data sets, researchers have many alternative methods to test ever more refined hypotheses.  相似文献

This survey concerns industrial bread making and has been carried out within the European project entitled EU-FRESHBAKE (October 2006 to October 2009), which concerns the bake-off technology. This technology consists in producing bread at industrial level (frozen most of the time) and to retail the bread in "baking stations" or in small vending shops.
The objectives of this survey were (1) to better understand the attitude of the European innovations in bread and (2) to understand the main determinants of it. Two main categories of consumers were observed; (1) frequent (daily) buyers with a focus on quality and pleasure and (2) less frequent buyers (once a week) with a more pronounced interest in nutrition, shelf life and energy (process). The first group was named the "crust group" and the second one the "crumb group." The "crumb group" seems to be the one that is the most interested in the outcomes of the EU-FRESHBAKE project.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS


This survey brings interesting information regarding the expectations of EU consumers toward innovation in bread making. Bread is a very symbolic food, carrying a lot of messages coming from religion, social classification and from well being.
Among the key messages to be withdrawn from this survey, it appears that northern and eastern Europe, and also the young population, are expecting from bread a food that must adapt to the constrain of life. It must have a long shelf life and it must carry a nutritional value. On the other hand, French and southern Europe countries are bringing more attention to the pleasure and to the freshness of the product. There is thus a complex matrix of social and qualitative attitudes toward bread from one country to the other. Innovation can be considered as a positive image in some countries, whereas it may have a very negative image in other countries.  相似文献
