Multiphasic accumulation of nutrients by plants   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Seedlings of rice (Oryza sativa), soybean (Glycine max) and sour orange (Citrus aurantium) were grown for 20 to 125 days under controlled conditions in nutrient solutions wiht up to 16 different concentrations of NH4+, H2PO4-, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ or Zn2+. Nutrient concentrations differed by up to 4 orders of magnitude (H2PO4- and Zn2+) and were kept constant or within certain limits by changing solutions daily. Dry weights and concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg or Zn were determined for roots and tops (or roots, stems and leaves). The relationship between tissue concentration of an element and external concentration of the corresponding nutient ion was invariably multiphasic, with phases separated by sharp breaks or jumps. The kinetics of accumulation were similar to those of short-term uptake of the same ions. Reanalysis of previously published data (including data for Mn2+) for other plants yielded, similarly, bi- or multiphasic isotherms for accumulation. Accumulation patterns and growth were in several instances correlated, with separate phases coinciding with regions of poverty adjustment, luxury consumption and toxicity. Implications of multiphasic kinetics of long-term nutrient accumulation for membrane properties, fluxes and regulation include: (i) Membranes and uptake mechanisms must remain relatively constant throughout the life of the plant with respect to affinities for ions and concentrations at which transitions occur. (ii) Rate-limitation occurs at the plasmalemma of the root cortical cells. (iii) Uptake is at all times under multiphasic control by the external solution.  相似文献

Three new eremophilane sesquiterpenes phomadecalins G−I ( 1 – 3 ) and two new benzene derivatives microdiplzenes A and B ( 12 and 13 ), together with nine known eremophilane sesquiterpenes ( 4 – 11 and 14 ) were isolated from an endophytic fungus, Microdiplodia sp. WGHS5. Their structures were elucidated by the interpretation of HR-ESI-MS and NMR data; meanwhile, the absolute configurations of new compounds were determined on the base of ECD calculations. All compounds were evaluated for the antimicrobial activities and antiproliferative effect on human gastric cancer cell lines (BGC-823).  相似文献

基质有效性调节加拿大一枝黄花入侵对土壤呼吸的抑制作用 外来植物入侵不仅会降低河边近岸湿地生态系统植被多样性,而且会改变湿地生态系统的地下碳过程。外来入侵植物加拿大一枝黄花(Solidago canadensis L.)已广泛入侵我国东南部地区,但加拿大一枝黄花入侵对入侵地生态系统地下土壤碳循环过程的影响却知之甚少。本研究通过野外原位观测实验和温室模拟入侵实验,探究外来植物加拿大一枝黄花入侵对入侵地土壤呼吸的影响规律及其驱动因素。野 外原位观测实验开展于2018年7月21日至12月15日,期间每周测定样地土壤呼吸。温室模拟入侵实验开展于2019年7月15日至12月15日,期间每月1日与15日上午测定土壤呼吸、自养呼吸和异养呼吸。土壤呼吸、自养呼吸和异养呼吸通过静态箱结合深埋根系隔离法测定。野外原位观测实验和温室模拟入侵实验结果均显示,加拿大一枝黄花的入侵降低了土壤二氧化碳的排放通量。加拿大一枝黄花入侵对土壤呼吸的抑制作用可能归因于其入侵引起的土壤可利用底物质量与数量的变化,表明外来入侵植物加拿大一枝黄花可通过改变植物释放基质以及与本地植物和/或土壤微生物争夺土壤有效基质而影响土壤碳循环。这些研究结果对于评估外来入侵植物对入侵地地下碳动态的影响以及对全球变暖的贡献具有重要意义。  相似文献

We studied how the relationship between cadmium (Cd) toxicity and oxidative stress influenced the growth, photosynthetic efficiency, lipid peroxidation, and activity of ntioxidative enzymes in the roots and leaves of rice(Oryza sativa L Dongjin). Plants were exposed to Cd for 21 d. Both seedling growth and photosynthetic efficiency decreased gradually with increasing cadmium concentrations. Lipid peroxidation increased slowly in both roots and leaves, causing oxidative stress. However, each tissue type responded differently to Cd concentrations with regard to the induction/ inhibition of antioxidative enzymes. The activity of Superoxide dismutase (SOD) increased in both roots and leaves. Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity increased in leaves treated with up to 0.25 μM Cd, then decreased gradually at higher concentrations. In contrast, APX activity in roots increased and remained constant between 0.25 and 25 μM Cd. Enhanced peroxidase (POD) activity was recorded for treatments with up to 25/M Cd, gradually decreasing at higher concentrations in the leaves but remaining unchanged in the roots. Catalase (CAT) activity increased in the roots, but decreased in the leaves, whereas the activity of glutathione reductase (GR) was enhanced in both roots and leaves, where it remained elevated at higher Cd concentrations. These results suggest that rice seedlings tend to cope with free radicals generated by Cd through coordinated, enhanced activities of the antioxidative enzymes involved in detoxification.  相似文献

Boron tolerance is a quantitative trait controlled by multiple genes. Suppression subtractive hybridization was carried out on root cDNA from bulked boron tolerant and intolerant doubled haploid barley lines grown under moderate boron stress to identify genes associated with boron tolerance. One hundred and eleven clones representing known proteins were found to be up‐regulated in the tolerant bulk upon boron stress. Nine clones were genetically mapped to previously reported boron tolerance QTL. These include a clone identical to the boron transporter gene Bot1 and a clone coding for a bromo‐adjacent homology domain‐containing protein, mapping to the 6H boron tolerance locus and co‐segregating with reduced boron intake in a Clipper × Sahara‐3771 mapping population. A third clone mapping to the 2H QTL region encoding an S‐adenosylmethionine decarboxylase precursor was found to provide tolerance to high boron by heterologous expression. Yeast cells expressing Sahara SAMDC were able to grow on 15 mm boron solid media and maintained cellular boron concentrations at 13% lower than control cells expressing empty vector. The data suggest that an antioxidative response mechanism involving polyamines and the ascorbate–glutathione pathway in Sahara barley may provide an advantage in tolerating high soil concentrations of boron.  相似文献

The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of families having mental retardation in Pakistani population. We enrolled seven mentally retarded (MR) families with two or more affected individuals. Family history was taken to minimize the chances of other abnormalities. Pedigrees were drawn using the Cyrillic software (version 2.1). The structure of pedigrees shows that all the marriages are consanguineous and the families have recessive mode of inheritance. All the families were studied by linkage analysis to mental retardation locus (MRT1)/gene PRSS12. Three STR markers (D4S191, D4S2392, and D4S3024) in vicinity of mental retardation (MR) locus (MRT1)/gene PRSS12 were amplified on all the sample of each family by PCR. The PCR products were then genotyped on non denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). The Haplotype were constructed to determine the pattern of inheritance and also to determine that a family was linked or unlinked to gene PRSS12. One out of the seven families was potentially linked to gene PRSS12, while the other six families remain unlinked.  相似文献

In tropical and subtropical regions of the world, parasitic diseases are major obstacle in the health and ultimately overall performance of animals. Cattle express heritable, contrasting phenotypes when exposed to ticks depicting genetic nature of trait. IFN-γ is one of the most reported genes critical for innate and adaptive immunity against viral and intracellular infections. To identify its role in resistance for ectoparasite especially tick, genetic characterization of this gene was done in resistant and susceptible animals of Sahiwal cattle (n = 95) and Friesian (n = 92). Nine Polymorphisms were identified, three of them were found in exonic region. One out of nine variants was being reported previously (ss82716193) and was confirmed in Pakistani Sahiwal cattle population as well. Single site analysis of each variant depicted their significance in tick resistant and tick susceptible groups (P < 0.05). The associations using haplotypes were more informative than for single markers. Eighteen different haplotypes resulting from nine polymorphic sites were used in construction of maximum parsimony tree which categorized resistant and susceptible animals in two clades. Genetic markers identified in this study can be useful in future breeding selection programs against tick resistance.  相似文献

Mutations in EDNRB gene have been reported to cause Waardenburg-Shah syndrome (WS4) in humans. We investigated 17 patients with WS4 for identification of mutations in EDNRB gene using PCR and direct sequencing technique. Four genomic mutations were detected in four patients; a G to C transversion in codon 335 (S335C) in exon 5 and a transition of T to C in codon (S361L) in exon 5, a transition of A to G in codon 277 (L277L) in exon 4, a non coding transversion of T to A at −30 nucleotide position of exon 5. None of these mutations were found in controls. One of the patients harbored two novel mutations (S335C, S361L) in exon 5 and one in Intronic region (−30exon5 A>G). All of the mutations were homozygous and novel except the mutation observed in exon 4. In this study, we have identified 3 novel mutations in EDNRB gene associated with WS4 in Pakistani patients.  相似文献
