Chemical control of potato common scab disease under field conditions   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The aim of this study was to evaluate certain fungicides against Streptomyces scabies (Thaxter), the main causal agent of common scab disease in potato and other crops, in vitro and in vivo. Fourteen isolates of S. scabies were isolated from naturally infected potato tubers showing common scab symptoms. All isolates were pathogenic to potato tubers and produced typical symptoms of common scab. Isolate (No. 11) caused highest disease index (DSI) followed by isolates 10, 8 and 5 (61.13%). Seven fungicides (Rizolex, Capitan, Moncut, Ridomil, Maxim, Topsin, and Oxyplus) were screened in vitro for their toxicity against the pathogen isolate (No. 11). Results showed that four of them (Rizolex, Capitan, Moncut, and Ridomil) exhibited inhibition zone ranging from 5.33 to 26.33?mm. Capitan, Ridomil, and Rizolex were able to reduce DSI under field condition but they varied in their effects. Capitan was the best fungicide which aids in the reduction of disease (33.8%) followed by Ridomil (31.5%) while Rizolex (21.2%) was the lowest one.  相似文献

Based on the biomimetic approaches the present work describes a straightforward technique to mimic not only the architecture (the morphology) but also the chemistry (the composition) of the lowest level of the hierarchical organization of bone. This technique uses an electrospinning (ES) process with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles. To determine morphology, crystalline structures and thermal properties of the resulting electrospun fibers with the pure PVA and PVA/HAp nanocomposite (NC) before electrospinning various techniques were employed, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HR-TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In addition, FT-IR spectroscopy was carried out to analyze the complex structural changes upon undergoing electrospinning as well as interactions between HAp and PVA. The morphological and crystallographic investigations revealed that the rod-like HAp nanoparticles exhibit a nanoporous morphology and are embedded within the electrospun fibers. A large number of HAp nanorods are preferentially oriented parallel to the longitudinal direction of the electrospun PVA fibers, which closely resemble the naturally mineralized hard tissues of bones. Due to abundant OH groups present in PVA and HAp nanorods, they strongly interact via hydrogen bonding within the electrospun PVA/HAp NC fibers, which results in improved thermal properties. The unique physiochemical features of the electrospun PVA/HAp NC nanofibers prepared by the ES process will open up a wide variety of future applications related to hard tissue replacement and regeneration (bone and dentin), not limited to coating implants.  相似文献

Nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning from pure polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), and their blends. Miscibility and morphology of both polymers in the nanofiber blends were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), revealing that PVA and PHB were miscible with good compatibility. DSC also revealed suppression of crystallinity of PHB in the blend nanofibers with increasing proportion of PVA. The hydrolytic degradation of PHB was accelerated with increasing PVA fraction. Cell culture experiments with a human keratinocyte cell line (HaCaT) and dermal fibroblast on the electrospun PHB and PVA/PHB blend nanofibers showed maximum adhesion and proliferation on pure PHB. However, the addition of 5 wt % PVA to PHB inhibited growth of HaCaT cells but not of fibroblasts. On the contrary, adhesion and proliferation of HaCaT cells were promoted on PVA/PHB (50/50) fibers, which inhibited growth of fibroblasts.  相似文献

Abstract

Five isolates of Ralstonia solanacearum were isolated from a naturally wilted root of tomato plants grown in Assiut governorate. The antibacterial activity of extract of Datura, Garlic and Nerium were tested in controlling R. solanacearum in vitro and in vivo. Garlic exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against bacterial wilt in vitro and in vivo followed by Datura and then Nerium. Cold water extracts of these plant species were more effective than hot water extract in the development of the disease in vivo. In greenhouse experiments, the application of the tested plant extract to soil at the time of inoculation, two days before inoculation and two days after inoculation the pathogen, significantly reduced the disease index of wilt on Super Marmande tomato cultivars. The application of plant extracts at the same time as inoculation resulted in the highest reduction of disease index.  相似文献

As part of the development of a management program for Nile crocodiles in Lake Nasser, Egypt, we used a dependent double-observer sampling protocol with multiple observers to compute estimates of population size. To analyze the data, we developed a hierarchical model that allowed us to assess variation in detection probabilities among observers and survey dates, as well as account for variation in crocodile abundance among sites and habitats. We conducted surveys from July 2008–June 2009 in 15 areas of Lake Nasser that were representative of 3 main habitat categories. During these surveys, we sampled 1,086 km of lake shore wherein we detected 386 crocodiles. Analysis of the data revealed significant variability in both inter- and intra-observer detection probabilities. Our raw encounter rate was 0.355 crocodiles/km. When we accounted for observer effects and habitat, we estimated a surface population abundance of 2,581 (2,239–2,987, 95% credible intervals) crocodiles in Lake Nasser. Our results underscore the importance of well-trained, experienced monitoring personnel in order to decrease heterogeneity in intra-observer detection probability and to better detect changes in the population based on survey indices. This study will assist the Egyptian government establish a monitoring program as an integral part of future crocodile harvest activities in Lake Nasser. © 2012 The Wildlife Society.  相似文献
