Azima tetracantha, a traditional medicinal plant included in the order Brassicales and family Salvadoraceae, is widely used as a dietary supplement in folklore medicines. The plant is also used for the treatment of rheumatism, diarrhea and other inflammatory disorders. The present investigation focused on the phytochemical composition, radical scavenging, reducing potential and anti-proliferative activities of the A. tetracantha leaves. Quantitative estimation of the polyphenols and flavonoids revealed significantly elevated levels in the methanol extract. Corroborating with this, methanol extract exhibited higher in vitro anti-radical scavenging effect against 2,2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl (34.14 ± 2.19 μg/mL), and hydrogen peroxide (44.96 ± 1.77 μg/mL), as well as ferric reducing properties (58.24 ± 6.98 μg/mL). The methanolic extract also showed strong lipoxygenase (71.42 ± 6.36 μg/mL) and nitric oxide inhibitory activities (94.23 ± 8.11 μg/mL). Cytotoxic activity against MCF7 cells was found to be higher (IC50= 37.62 ± 2.94 μg/mL), than that of MDAMB231 cells (IC50= 69.11 ± 5.02 μg/mL). The qPCR-based analysis indicated dose-dependent increase in the expression of the pro-apoptotic genes such as executioner caspases and apoptotic protease activating factor-1. Overall, the results indicated the possible use of methanol extract of A. tetracantha leaves as a chain-breaking antioxidant molecule and are capable of inhibiting inflammatory enzymes and the proliferative potential of breast cancer cells.  相似文献

New linear and tripodal tetradentate ligands, LH2, are reported and their syntheses are described. The new linear ligands L = HSCH2CH2SCH2CH2NRCH2CR2SH, R = H, CH3) and the new tripodal ligands N(CH2CH2SH)2CH2Z, Z = CH2NH2, CH2N(CH3)2, CH2N(C2H5)2, CH2SCH3 and CO2- were synthesized. The known linear ligands HSCH2CH2NCH3(CH2)nNCH3CH2CH2SH (n = 2, 3) and HSCR2CH2NHCH2CH2NHCH2CR2SH (R = H, CH3) were also utilized. These ligands react with MoO2(acac)2 in CH3OH to yield MoO2L complexes in high yield. Infra-red and 1H nmr spectra provide evidence to supplement X-ray crystallographic results reported elsewhere for selected numbers of the series. Octahedral structures with cis MoO22+ groupings are assigned. Solution 1H nmr studies are consistent with a trans placement of the two thiolate donors in agreement with the X-ray studies.  相似文献

The effect of glutathione on the influences of heavy metals affecting rubisco and rubisco activase was studied in tobacco plants grown in vitro where the shoot explants of the tobacco plant cultured on MS medium under aseptic conditions and two explants were placed in the control, 0.1 mM GSH, 1 mM GSH, 0.2 mM Cd, 0.2 mM Cu, 0.2 mM Zn, and a mixture of Cd and GSH, Cu and GSH, Zn and GSH, respectively. The effect of GSH on the growth of the tobacco plant was minimal, but the heavy metals clearly retarded its growth. GSH recovered the growth retarded by heavy metals, and the concentration of GSH required to recover the growth differed depending on the heavy metals. The content of chlorophyll in the plant increased through GSH and Zn, and decreased through Cd and Cu. The chlorophyll content which decreased due to Cd and Cu was recovered by GSH, and the content which increased due to Zn was decreased by 1 mM GSH. The content of rubisco decreased due to GSH and heavy metals, and the content which decreased due to heavy metals was recovered by GSH, and when GSH was treated with Zn, the increased rate was maximum compared to other heavy metals. The activity of rubisco was increased due to GSH and heavy metals, and the activity increased by Cd and Zn decreased through GSH. In the case of Cu, the activity of GSH increased even more. There was no effect of GSH on the influences of heavy metals on the content and activity of rubisco activase. The activity of rubisco decreased by thiourea among six denaturing agents, and increased by l-cysteine, and in most cases the activity level was recorded as high. The activity of rubisco activase all decreased as a result of six denaturing agents, and the effect caused by EDTA and guanidine-HCl was the greatest, while the effect caused by l-cysteine and urea was minimal.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structures of the complexes MoO2((SCH2CH2)2NCH2CH2SCH3), I and MoO2((SCH2CH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH3)2), II, have been determined from X-ray intensity data collected by counter methods. Compound I crystallizes in two forms, Ia and Ib. In form Ia the space group is P21/n with cell parameters a = 7.235(2), b = 7.717(2), c = 24.527(6) Å, β = 119.86(2)°, V = 1188(1) Å3, Z = 4. In form Ib the space group is P21/c with cell parameters a = 14.945(5), b = 11.925(5), c = 14.878(4) Å, β = 114.51(2)°, V = 2413(3) Å3, Z = 8. The molecules of I in Ia and Ib are very similar having an octahedral structure with cis oxo groups, trans thiolates (cis to both oxo groups) and N and thioether sulfur atoms trans to oxo groups. Average ditances are MoO = 1.70, MoS (thiolate) = 2.40, MoN = 2.40 and MoS (thioether) = 2.79 Å. Molecule II crystallizes in space group P212121 with a = 7.188(1), b = 22.708(8), c = 7.746(2) Å, V = 1246(1) Å3 and Z = 4. The coordination about Mo is octahedral with cis oxo groups, trans thiolates and N atoms trans to oxo. Distances in the first coordination sphere are MoO = 1.705(2), 1.699(2), MoS = 2.420(1), 2.409(1) and MoN = 2.372(2), 2.510(2) Å. The conformational features of the complexes are discussed. Complex I displays MoO and MoS distances which are very similar to those found by EXAFS in sulfite oxidase. This similarity is discussed.  相似文献

The present study was designed to evaluate the influence of salicylic acid (SA) on the growth of salt stress (sodium chloride) induced in tobacco plants. In addition, quantification of rubisco and rubisco activase contents of the plants was also determined in treatments with the control, 10−4 mM SA, 50 mM NaCl, 100 mM NaCl, 150 mM NaCl, SA + 50 mM NaCl, SA + 100 mM NaCl and SA + 150 mM NaCl, respectively after in vitro culture for 5 weeks. The growth of the tobacco plant decreased in 50 mM and 100 mM NaCl when not treated with SA. However, the growth was accelerated by SA, and the growth retardation caused by NaCl was improved by SA. The content of rubisco was improved by SA only in plants treated with 50 mM NaCl, and the activity of rubisco was increased by SA resulting in the decreased effect of NaCl, but only in 50 mM NaCl treated plants. The content of rubisco activase decreased due to NaCl, and SA did not improve the effect caused by NaCl. The activity of rubisco activase was increased by SA resulting in decreased activity caused by NaCl, but increased effect by SA was not recovered to the level of NaCl untreated plants. The activity of rubisco and rubisco activase, which decreased due to denaturing agents, did not demonstrate significant improvement when compared to the control.  相似文献
