Results are presented of an investigation on electric and magnetic fields leaking from inductive (magnetic) heaters that are used for thermal processing of high-power electron tubes and lasers in an industrial plant. Measurements of electric and magnetic fields were done using both commercially available and laboratory-developed instrumentation. Isotropic H-field sensors were developed to allow quantitative evaluation of high-intensity magnetic fields. Ten induction heaters with nominal A.C. power ranging from 2.5 kW to 15 kW and operating at frequencies between 300 kHz and 790 kHz were surveyed. Electric field strengths up to 8 kV/m and magnetic field strengths up to 20 A/m were measured.  相似文献

The CB12 monoclonal antibody, which reacts with a molecule expressed on monocytes, was characterized using human embryonic material as immunizer. Analysis of the monoclonal antibody at the phenotypic, molecular, and functional levels indicates that its reactivity is restricted to circulating monocytes and their precursors in the bone marrow, whereas it is undetectable on tissue macrophages. CB12 displays a pattern of reactivity compatible with that of a marker of monocyte differentiation. Preliminary data indicate a possible receptor role for the CB12 molecule.  相似文献

The structure of the CD38 molecule has been evaluated by one- and two-dimensional gel analysis and by enzymatic digestions. The source of the Ag was mainly membrane preparations obtained from MLC cells, from normal thymocytes, and from the plasmocytoma line LP-1. Membranes were solubilized in NP-40 and the extracts fractionated by immunoaffinity chromatography [using a specific anti-CD38 antibody (A10 mAb) covalently linked to Sepharose protein A]. The purified Ag migrated as a single chain of Mr = 45,000 not associated with beta 2-microglobulin. Two-dimensional IEF gel electrophoresis revealed five spots (isoelectric point (pI) range: 6.5 to 6.9). After neuraminidase treatment, the mobility of the five polypeptides shifted to a more basic pI. Endoglycosidase-H treatment reduced the Mr of CD38 by 20%, revealing a broader band centered at Mr = 36,000. Treatment of CD38 molecule with V8 Staphylococcus aureus protease yielded a single dominant band at Mr = 38,000 which was still reactive with A10 mAb. The CD38 molecular was trypsin-resistant in both denatured or native conditions. These results clearly show the glycoprotein nature of CD38 molecule, which includes 2 to 4 N-linked oligosaccharide chains containing sialic acid residues. Furthermore, the present data indicate that the CD38 molecule does not display an apparent biochemical polymorphism among the different CD38+ cells or lines.  相似文献

The reaction between the antitumor octahedral complex trans-RuCl2(DMSO)4 and d(GpG) leads to the formation of a stable compound characterized by a covalent bifunctional coordination of the bases to the metal center. The structure of the compound has been fully characterized by NMR and molecular modeling studies, showing the presence of two N7-coordinated guanine moieties in a head to head conformation, two dimethyl sulfoxide molecules, and one halogen atom in the coordination sphere of the ruthenium. The glycosidic chi angles are essentially in the anti range, the sugar puckering of the 5'G is 3'-endo (100% N), whereas that of the 3'G is more flexible but mainly in 2'-endo conformation (85% S), the two bases are strongly destacked. The compound shows structural features which are surprisingly similar to those exhibited by the corresponding cisplatin complex, indicating that such a way of interaction with DNA is not exclusive to Pt or to metals with square planar coordination geometries.  相似文献

Faced with the serious consequences resulting from the abusive and repeated use of synthetic chemicals, today rethinking crop protection is more than necessary. It is in this context that the essential oils of the Lamiaceae Ocimum gratissimum and Ocimum canum, the Poaceae Cymbopogon citratus and nardus and a Rutaceae Citrus sp. of known chemical compositions were experimented. The evaluation of the larvicidal potential of the essential oils was done by the method of topical application of the test solutions, on the L1−L2 stage larvae from the first generation of S. frugiperda obtained after rearing in an air-conditioned room. Lethal concentrations (LC10, LC50 and LC90) were determined after 48 h. After assessing the larvicidal potential of essential oils, molecular docking was carried out to study protein-ligand interactions and their propensity to bind to insect enzyme sites (AChE). The essential oil of O. gratissimum was the most effective with the lowest lethal concentrations (LC10=0.91 %, LC50=1.91 % and LC90=3.92 %). The least toxic oil to larvae was Citrus sp. (LC10=5.44 %, LC50=20.50 % and LC90=77.41 %). Molecular docking revealed that p-cymene and thymol from O. gratissimum essential oil are structurally similar and bind to the AChE active site via predominantly hydrophobic interactions and a H-bond with Tyr374 in the case of thymol. The essential oil of O. gratissimum constitutes a potential candidate for the development of biological insecticides for the fight against insect pests and for the protection of the environment.  相似文献

It has been studied the total plasma cholesterol rate in lactating or dry sheep and goats of Sardinian breed. The values obtained for the four different groups of subjects have been compared with the "t of Student". While the difference between the sheep groups has seemed very accentuated, it has appeared hardly significant between the goat groups. Highly significant difference has also been found between lactating sheep and goats whereas there was no significant difference among the groups of dry subjects.  相似文献

We showed that in the yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, fructose-bisphosphatase is not subject to catabolite inactivation as it was observed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. However, this enzyme activity is sensitive to catabolite repression in both yeasts. Two mutants lacking completely fructose-bisphosphatase activity were found. They were unable to grow on glycerol medium. They were still respiratory competent and exhibited the ability to derepress partially malate dehydrogenase activity. In glucose exponential phase culture, the parental strain lacks completely the fructosebisphosphatase activity due to catabolite repression. In these conditions, the growth is slowed down only in the mutants eventhough both mutants and their parental strain lack this enzyme activity. Normal sporulation and poor spore germination were observed for one mutant whereas, only in the presence of glucose, normal sporulation and normal spore germination were observed for the second mutant. Mendelian segregation of glycerol growth was found for the well germinating mutant. It is of nuclear heredity. Cultivated and wild potato species synthesize a wide variety of steroidal glycoalkaloids (GA) that may affect either human health or biotic stress resistance. Therefore, GA composition must be a major criterion in the evaluation of breeding products when species genomes are merged and/or manipulated. This work reports the results of GA analysis performed on unique haploid (2n=2x=24) plants obtained from tetraploid (2n=4x=48) Solanum bulbocastanumS. tuberosum hybrids through in vitro anther culture. Glycoalkaloids were extracted from tubers and analyzed by HPLC. Haploids generally showed the occurrence of parental GA. However, in several cases loss of parental GA and gain of new GA lacking in the parents was observed. It may be hypothesized that new GA profiles of our haploids is the result of either genetic recombination or combinatorial biochemistry events. To highlight differences between haploids and parents, soluble proteins and antioxidant activities were also determined. Both were always higher in haploids compared to their parents. The nature of the newly formed GAs will be further investigated, because they may represent new metabolites that can be used against pest and diseases, or are useful for human health.  相似文献

Ecologists have long investigated why communities are composed of a few common species and many rare species. Most studies relate rarity to either niche differentiation among species or spatial processes. There is a parallel between these processes and the processes proposed to explain the structure of metacommunities. Based on a metacommunity perspective and on data on stream macroinvertebrates from different regions of Brazil, we answer two questions. 1) Are sets of common and rare species affected by similar niche and spatial processes? 2) How does the community composition of common and of rare species differ? The main hypothesis we test is that common species are mainly affected by environmental factors, whereas rare species are mostly influenced by dispersal limitation. We used variation partitioning to determine the proportion of variation explained by the environment and space in common and rare species matrices. Contrary to our expectations, evidence supported the idea that both common and rare species are affected mainly by environmental factors, even after controlling for the differing information content between common and rare species matrices. Moreover, the abundance of some common species is also a good predictor of variation in rare species matrices. Niche differences are unlikely to be the sole cause of patterns of rarity in these metacommunities. We suggest that sets of common and rare species react to similar major environmental gradients and that rare species also respond to processes that operate at a more fine‐grained spatial scale, particularly biotic interactions. We extend the view that species sorting is the dominant process structuring metacommunities and argue that future studies focusing on rarity would benefit from a metacommunity perspective.  相似文献
