Fungal fruiting bodies ignored in earlier palynological investigations of the Subathu and Dagshai Formations have been studied from sediments exposed in the Dadahu Jamtah area, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh. Taxa belonging to the genera Notothyrites, Asterothyrites, Parmathyrites, Phragmothyriles and Microthyriacites have been identified. These fossils are comparable with taxa reported from many Early Tertiary assemblages from different parts of the country and indicate a warm and humid climate.  相似文献

The effect of copper sulphate on morphology and physiology of Lyngbya nigra has been studied. The growth was inhibited in all treatments (0.4 to 80.0 μM) of copper sulphate. There were no apparent morphological changes up to 0.8 μM and during the first two days of treatment even in the higher concentrations of copper sulphate. In concentrations above 0.8 μM the first symptom of toxicity was the formation of separation discs in large numbers. The trichomes contracted longitudinally and the cells became swollen and constricted at the cross walls. The cells also became yellowish due to loss of photosynthetic pigments. Finally, in 4 μM and above, vacuoles appeared in large number indicating the moribund state of the cells. Copper sulphate increased respiration at 2 μM, and optimum effect was observed in 8 μM after 96 h. Inhibition of photosynthesis was detectable in 0.8 μM, and 100% inhibition took place in 8 μM after 96 h. In higher concentrations the effect was immediate, and a conspicuous inhibition of photosynthesis could be observed within 10 min. The copper content of the alga increased with increased concentration of copper sulphate while potassium content decreased. With rise in outside concentrations of copper, there was a comparatively great increase of absorption in 2 and 4 μM, while further increases were gradually less. The observations indicate that changes in the physiological activity of the alga under treatment are closely interlinked with marked changes in morphology.  相似文献

The present investigation describes the ontogeny of normal andabnormal stomata for three species of the Araliaceae. The maturestomata are mostly anisocytic, occasionally paracytic, and rarelyanomocytic. Several aberrent patterns of stomatal developmenthave been noticed in anisocytic stomata and a few in paracyticones. The ontogeny of anisocytic and paracytic stomata conformsto the syndetocheilic or mesogenous type, while that of anomocyticis haplocheilic or perigenous.  相似文献

Uncertainties in the 20th century carbon budget associated with the treatment of land use change (LUC) are assessed using the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis (CCCma) first‐generation Earth System Model (CanESM1). Eight coupled climate carbon cycle simulations are performed using different reconstructions of 1850–2000 land cover derived from historical information on changes in cropland and pasture area. The simulations provide estimates of the emissions associated with LUC, the relative contribution of changes in cropland and pasture to LUC emissions and the uncertainty associated with differences among historical data sets of crop area as well as in the manner in which the historical land cover data are constructed. The resulting estimates of the amount of biomass deforested over the 1850–2000 period range from 63 to 145 Pg C with cumulative implied LUC emissions ranging from 40 to 77 Pg C. These values of LUC emissions are considerably lower than Houghton's estimate of 156 Pg C. The year 2000 atmospheric CO2 concentration ranges between 371.1 ± 3.7 ppm depending on the data set used and the manner in which historical land cover is constructed. This compares to the observed value of 369.6 ppm at Mauna Loa and is 17.3 ± 6.3 ppm larger than for simulations without LUC. Although increases in cropland result in the expected increase in LUC emissions, changes in pasture area decrease these emissions because of carbon sequestration in soils.  相似文献

The ability of plants to recover from freeze‐thaw injury is a critical component of freeze‐thaw stress tolerance. To investigate the molecular basis of freeze‐thaw recovery, here we compared the proteomes of onion scales from unfrozen control (UFC), freeze‐thaw injured (INJ), and post‐thaw recovered (REC) treatments. Injury‐related proteins (IRPs) and recovery‐related proteins (RRPs) were differentiated according to their accumulation patterns. Many IRPs decreased right after thaw without any significant re‐accumulation during post‐thaw recovery, while others were exclusively induced in INJ tissues. Most IRPs are antioxidants, stress proteins, molecular chaperones, those induced by physical injury or proteins involved in energy metabolism. Taken together, these observations suggest that while freeze‐thaw compromises the constitutive stress protection and energy supply in onion scales, it might also recruit ‘first‐responders’ (IRPs that were induced) to mitigate such injury. RRPs, on the other hand, are involved in the injury‐repair program during post‐thaw environment conducive for recovery. Some RRPs were restored in REC tissues after their first reduction right after thaw, while others exhibit higher abundance than their ‘constitutive’ levels. RRPs might facilitate new cellular homeostasis, potentially by re‐establishing ion homeostasis and proteostasis, cell‐wall remodelling, reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging, defence against possible post‐thaw infection, and regulating the energy budget to sustain these processes.  相似文献

zpl(zip-like) gene mutant embryos showed the cuticular defect with alternative denticle rows and a hole from head to abdomen.zpl mutants also caused the overgrowth of neural cells and axons both in CNS and PNS as well as the wrong pathway of neural fasciculation and the disappearance of hypophysis,as shown by whole mount embryos stained with antibody against HRP and MAb-22C10.Genetic analysis has provided evidence that zpl,located in the right arm of the second chromosome(between 75 and 102 genetic map units),is a new gene closely related to the zip gene.  相似文献

Epidermal structure and development of stomata in 15 speciesof the Malvaceae and two of Bombacaceae are described. The cellsof the epidermis are polygonal, isodiametric, or elongated withthick, straight, arched, or sinuous anticlinal walls and containchloroplasts and abundant druses of calcium oxalate. Cuticularstriations radiating from the guard cells or hair bases arenoticed. Six types of glandular and non-glandular trichomesare seen. The mature stomata are anomocytic, anisocytic, andparacytic in the members investigated of both the families.The ontogeny of anisocytic and paracytic stomata is syndetochelicor mesogenous, while that of anomocytic is haplocheilic or perigenous.An abnormal stoma with a single guard cell is also observed.An increase in number of subsidiary cells in anisocytic stomatais due to the division of the subsidiary cells.  相似文献

A field experiment on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) ev. Shera grown at 120 kg N ha?1 was conducted. Half of the dose of fertilizer N was applied at the pre-sowing stage and the other half when the seedlings were one month old. The leaf blades were examined for their NO3? content and NO3? assimilatory activity at various stages of growth and development. Soil nitrate level at 50 cm depth was determined throughout the wheat growing season in terms of cencentration (μg/ml) and total amount (kg ha?1). The upper leaf blades were examined for their capacity to assimilate NO3?. Highly significant correlation between NR (nitrate reductase) activity and NO3? content in the leaf blades. NR activity and soil NO3?, and between soil NO3? and leaf blade NO3? was observed. Findings on low soil NO3? status during the reproductive phase and the capacity of the upper leaf blades to assimilate additional amounts of NO3?, point to the need for developing a programme of soil fertilizer application whereby all the leaf blades can utilize the NO3? optimally and thus result in greater N harvest.  相似文献
