Observations on the behaviour of different life cycle stages, gamete fusions, and measurements of nuclear DNA contents in Cryptochlora perforans resulted in a first concept concerning life histories in Chlorarachniophyta: the life cycle of Cr. perforans is diplohaplontic (gamete fusion with karyogamy - mitosis - meiosis - mitosis). In the haploid as well as in the diploid life cycle phases amoeboid and coccoid stages occur. The isomorphic gametes are modified amoebae frequently without filopodia. Only haploid flagellate stages are known representing mito- or meiozoospores. Diploid coccoid stages have a granular cytoplasmic structure and may be somewhat larger than haploid ones. Nevertheless, positive identification of haploid (gametophytic) and diploid (sporophytic) stages is only possible on the basis of nuclear DNA contents. 相似文献

Genus Scytodes includes most species of the spider family Scytodidae. Until now, 187 species of the genus have been described. In spite of this great diversity, only three Scytodes species were karyotyped so far. The present paper provides for the first time karyotype analysis of two synanthropic species, Scytodes fusca and Scytodes itapevi. Furthermore, new data on karyotype of Scytodes globula are also provided using conventional and differential cytogenetical procedures. The diploid number in the genus Scytodes varied considerably, namely from 2n = 13 to 2n = 31. The diploid number found in S. globula (2n♂ = 13) is the lowest in haplogyne spiders with monocentric chromosomes. Except S. globula, this number has been found only in one haplogyne spider with monocentric chromosomes, namely Ochyrocera sp. (Ochyroceratidae). On the contrary, the diploid number of S. fusca (2n♂ = 31) is one of the highest diploid numbers recorded in haplogyne spiders. The degree of intrageneric variation found in the genus Scytodes is the highest recorded in araneomorph spiders with monocentric chromosomes so far. Some karyotype characteristics (diploid number, chromosome morphology, total chromosome length, and distribution of constitutive heterochromatin) allowed us to postulate a close relationship between S. globula and S. itapevi. According to the karyotype data, S. fusca is not closely related to these two species. This conclusion corroborates a recent taxonomic work that grouped S. globula, S. itapevi, and other four Scytodes species in the ‘globula group’. 相似文献

The material was analyzed on the main problems of genetics of mammalian spermatogenesis, sex determination, its reversion and other defects from the standpoint of current cytological and molecular-genetic concepts of functional activity of the parental genomes after fertilization and behavior of their chromosomes at the early embryonic stages. On the basis of this analysis, a hypothesis has been proposed, which explains a high percentage (50% or more) of early embryonic mortality in placental mammals under the conditions of natural and extracorporeal fertilization, as well as regular appearance of defects in the course of natural sex determination, including the appearance of representatives of both sex minorities. Cuscuta nivea , a new western Mediterranean species of Cuscuta L. subgenus Cuscuta (Convolvulaceae) is described and illustrated for plants traditionally included in C. planiflora Ten. and sometimes recognized as C. planiflora var. algeriana Yunck., or the illegitimate C. cuspidata Pomel. The morphological, cytological and ecological features that allow it to be distinguished from the morphologically most similar plants, described as C. planiflora var. papillosa Engelm., are exposed. The chromosome numbers 2 n = 18 and 2 n = 20 are found for the new species and 2 n = 34 for the papillate forms of C. planiflora Ten. The presence of holocentric chromosomes is recorded, which confirms this type of chromosome as a synapomorphy for Cuscuta subgenus Cuscuta . 相似文献

Unlike somatic cells mitosis, germ cell meiosis consists of 2 consecutive rounds of division that segregate homologous chromosomes and sister chromatids, respectively. The meiotic oocyte is characterized by an absence of centrioles and asymmetric division. Centriolin is a relatively novel centriolar protein that functions in mitotic cell cycle progression and cytokinesis. Here, we explored the function of centriolin in meiosis and showed that it is localized to meiotic spindles and concentrated at the spindle poles and midbody during oocyte meiotic maturation. Unexpectedly, knockdown of centriolin in oocytes with either siRNA or Morpholino micro-injection, did not affect meiotic spindle organization, cell cycle progression, or cytokinesis (as indicated by polar body emission), but led to a failure of peripheral meiotic spindle migration, large polar body emission, and 2-cell like oocytes. These data suggest that, unlike in mitotic cells, the centriolar protein centriolin does not regulate cytokinesis, but plays an important role in regulating asymmetric division of meiotic oocytes. 相似文献

Inverted meiosis, in which sister chromatids segregate before homologous chromosomes, is a common aberration of conventional meiosis (in which sister chromatids segregate after homologous chromosomes) and is routinely observed in certain species. This raises an evolutionary mystery: what is the adaptive advantage of the more common, conventional order of segregation in meiosis? I use a population genetic model to show that asexual mutants arising from inverted meiosis are relatively immune from the deleterious effects of loss of complementation (heterozygosity), unlike the asexual mutants arising from conventional meiosis, in which loss of complementation can outweigh the two‐fold cost of meiosis. Hence, asexual reproduction can replace sexual reproduction with inverted meiosis, but not with conventional meiosis. The results are in line with analogous considerations on other alternative types of reproduction and support the idea that amphimixis is stable in spite of the two‐fold cost of meiosis because loss of complementation in mutant asexuals outweigh the two‐fold cost. 相似文献
