Woody vegetation in global tropical drylands is of significant importance for both the interannual variability of the carbon cycle and local livelihoods. Satellite observations over the past decades provide a unique way to assess the vegetation long‐term dynamics across biomes worldwide. Yet, the actual changes in the woody vegetation are always hidden by interannual fluctuations of the leaf density, because the most widely used remote sensing data are primarily related to the photosynthetically active vegetation components. Here, we quantify the temporal trends of the nonphotosynthetic woody components (i.e., stems and branches) in global tropical drylands during 2000–2012 using the vegetation optical depth (VOD), retrieved from passive microwave observations. This is achieved by a novel method focusing on the dry season period to minimize the influence of herbaceous vegetation and using MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data to remove the interannual fluctuations of the woody leaf component. We revealed significant trends (P < 0.05) in the woody component (VODwood) in 35% of the areas characterized by a nonsignificant trend in the leaf component (VODleaf modeled from NDVI), indicating pronounced gradual growth/decline in woody vegetation not captured by traditional assessments. The method is validated using a unique record of ground measurements from the semiarid Sahel and shows a strong agreement between changes in VODwood and changes in ground observed woody cover (r2 = 0.78). Reliability of the obtained woody component trends is also supported by a review of relevant literatures for eight hot spot regions of change. 采用5因子4水平正交试验,将作者在以前筛选出的二化螟Chilosuppressalis(Walker)人工饲料的5个关键因子进行了进一步的优化,并得出了二化螟人工饲料的优化配方,其成分如下:稻茎粉18.75g、大豆粉15.00g、麦芽粉15.00g、稻糠粉6.25g、茭白茎粉7.50g、干酪素10.00g、酵母粉18.75g、纤维素7.50g、蔗糖15.00g、葡萄糖7.50g、维生素C7.50g、复合维生素B3.00g、胆固醇0.375g、氯化胆碱0.25g、Beck氏盐2.50g、山梨酸1.35g、琼脂13.49g和自来水809.25g。通过连续3代继代饲养试验,比较了该优化配方和二化螟天然饲料水稻茎的饲养效果。结果表明,在一些关键指标上(如存活率、化蛹率和羽化率等),所优化的二化螟人工饲料配方的饲养效果明显的好于其天然饲料水稻茎的;而在许多其它的指标上(如蛹期、成虫期、产卵量、卵期和孵化率等),该优化配方对二化螟的饲养效果与水稻茎的相当;但该配方饲养的二化螟在第3代时幼虫历期明显的比水稻茎的有所延长。 相似文献

Morphologically intermediate plants between Weigela hortensis (Siebold & Zucc.) K.Koch and W. maximowiczii (S.Moore) Rehder have been found in Miyagi and Yamagata Pref., northern Japan. Quantitative character analyses of flowers, pollen stainability and molecular analyses indicated that the intermediate plants were hybrids of those two species. This is the first record of an intersectional hybrid with W. maximowiczii (sect. Weigelastrum ) as one of the parent species. The morphological differences among hybrid individuals imply the possibility of backcrosses or formation of second or later generations of hybrids, although those may be quite rare because of a low frequency of viable pollen grains. Exploring the physicochemical and antiproliferative properties of biaryl-linked [13]-macrodilactones

A macrocyclic motif fosters productive protein-small molecule interactions. There are numerous examples of both natural product and designed, synthetic macrocycles that modulate the immune system, slow microbial infection, or kill eukaryotic cells. Reported here are the synthesis, physicochemical characterization, and antiproliferative activity of a group of [13]-macrodilactones decorated with a pendant biaryl moiety. Biaryl analogs were prepared by Suzuki reactions conducted on a common intermediate that contained a bromophenyl unit alpha to one of the carbonyls of the [13]-macrodilactone. Principal component analysis placed the new compounds in physicochemical context relative to a variety of pharmaceuticals and natural products. Modest inhibition of proliferation was observed in ASZ cells, a murine basal cell carcinoma line. This work underscores the value of an approach toward the identification of bioactive compounds that places the evaluation of physicochemical parameters early in the search process. 相似文献

Serum amyloid P component is a normal plasma glycoprotein which is the precursor of amyloid P component, a minor but universal constituent of amyloid deposits. When isolated human P component is exposed to free ionised Ca2+ it aggregates and precipitates. This phenomenon is completely inhibited by the presence of 10?4?10?2 M methyl 4,6-O-(1-car?yethylidene)-β-D-galactopyranoside, a recently synthesised specific ligand for amyloid P component. This observation suggests that the autoaggregation of human amyloid P component involves the Ca2+ dependent specific ligand binding property of P component, but does not distinguish between receptor-site-mediated and allosteric mechanisms. 相似文献
