Benomyl affected populations of Tetranychus urticae by interfering with the pathogenic fungus, Neozygites floridana. Benomyl delayed but prolonged spider mite outbreaks. Few mites were infected with the pathogen when benomyl was used. Reductions in mite populations treated with fentin hydroxide were associated with a high incidence of N. floridana infection. Benomyl did not affect sporulation of N. floridana but appeared to inhibit conidial germination or growth of the fungus.
Résumé Le bénomyl a modifié les populations de Tetranychus urticae Koch en interférant avec son champignon pathogène, Neozygites floridana (Weiser & Muma). Le bénomyl retardait mais prolongeait les pullulations de l'acarien. Peu d'acariens étaient infectés par le champignon quand on utilisait du bénomyl. Les réductions des populations d'acariens traitées avec l'hydroxyde de fentine étaient associées à un haut niveau d'infection par N. floridana. The functional response of adult females of the coccinellid beetle Stethorus gilvifrons Mulsant to juveniles of strawberry spider mite, Tetranychus turkestani Ugarov & Nikolski was determined on cowpea, castor bean and cucumber leaves in the laboratory at 25°C and a 14 h L: 10 h D photoperiod. Beetles were isolated singly for 24 h in 9-cm Petri dishes with either 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128 nymphal stages of T. turkestani. Results showed a typical type II response on all plants tested, with up to 110.7, 100.8, and 53.0 prey attacked when 128 nymphal stages were provided on cowpea, castor bean, and cucumber leaves, respectively. Based on the Rogers random attack equation, the highest estimated attack rate and the lowest handling time were obtained on cowpea. It was therefore concluded that the host plant species can affect the predation rate and functional response components of S. gilvifrons, a specific and effective predator of spider mites. 相似文献

Polymorphism of four enzymatic loci has been examined in 27 populations of Tetranychus urticae in relation to their geographical distribution and to two ecological parameters: open field vs. greenhouse habitats, and species of the colonized host plant. Genetic differentiation was significantly correlated to geographical distance in both types of habitat. Mite density and distribution of infested plants appear to be important factors for the population structure of T. urticae . In open field, T. urticae specimens from citrus trees were genetically more similar to other 'citrus' samples collected in different localities than they were from mites collected in the same locality on other plant species. 相似文献

本文旨在探究二斑叶螨Tetranychus urticae为害对草莓Fragaria×ananassa Duch.叶片内过氧化氢(H2O2)、丙二醛(MDA)含量以及部分防御酶活性的影响。在草莓苗上接种不同数量(5~25头)的二斑叶螨,分别在接种后的24 h、48 h和72 h取样,分析草莓叶片内H2O2、MDA的含量以及部分防御酶的活性。结果显示,二斑叶螨为害的草莓叶片内H2O2和MDA的含量以及超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)的活性随着时间的延长而呈现先升后降的趋势,在二斑叶螨持续为害草莓叶片24 h、48 h和72 h时,受损草莓叶片中H2O2的含量均显著高于对照(P<0.05),不同密度二斑叶螨为害的草莓叶片中H2O2的含量均显著高于对照(P<0.05),但与取食时间关系不大。当为害时间达到48 h时,MDA的含量和SOD的活性均达到最高峰,此时它们均与二斑叶螨的密度密切相关。当二斑叶螨为25头/叶时,MDA的含量和SOD的活性分别约是对照的3.6倍和10倍。过氧化物酶(POD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)的活性随时间延长不断升高,均在二斑叶螨为害72 h时达到最高峰。同时,二斑叶螨的为害时间和为害密度之间存在一定的交互作用。以上结果表明草莓叶片主要通过调节其体内H2O2和MDA的含量以及各种防御酶活性的变化,对二斑叶螨的为害产生应激反应。 相似文献

【目的】通过研究三唑锡亚致死浓度LC10、LC20及致死中浓度LC50对土耳其斯坦叶螨Tetranychus turkestani运动速率的影响,为杀螨剂对土耳其斯坦叶螨在行为学方面影响提供科学依据,并将此作为评价药剂的作用机理的理论依据。【方法】采用叶片浸渍法,明确致死中浓度和亚致死浓度,使用LC-100昆虫行为记录仪对土耳其斯坦叶螨在受到三唑锡亚致死浓度LC10、LC20和LC50刺激下其运动速率进行记录,观察其运动速率在三唑锡不同浓度、不同天数、不同时间段的变化规律。【结果】在三唑锡不同亚致死浓度作用下,第1天到第3天的10:00―12:00,其运动速率比对照低,从第3天10:00―12:00期间到第5天20:00―22:00期间,其运动速率与对照没有显著性差异。在相同亚致死浓度作用下,第1天10:00―12:00期间,土耳其斯坦叶螨的运动速率显著高于15:00―17:00期间和20:00―22:00期间,而在第3天和第5天的3个时间段,对土耳其斯坦叶螨的运动速率没有显著影响。当作用的时段不同时,LC10第1天10:00―12:00显著高于第3天和第5天,而LC20、LC50在10:00―12:00没有显著性差异。三种浓度的第1天15:00―17:00显著低于第3天和第5天。第3及第5天20:00―22:00没有显著性差异。【结论】总体来看,3唑锡亚不同致死浓度对土耳其斯坦叶螨的运动速率影响受浓度、时间影响,浓度越高土耳其斯坦叶螨运动速率越慢;随着时间延长,农药亚致死浓度对土耳其斯坦叶螨的运动速率基本没有影响。 相似文献

This study examines resource use (diet, habitat use, and trophic level) within and among demographic groups (males, females, and juveniles) of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). We analyzed the δ13C and δ15N values of 15 prey species constituting 84% of the species found in stomach contents. We used these data to establish a trophic enrichment factor (TEF) to inform dietary analysis using a Bayesian isotope mixing model. We document a TEF of 0‰ and 2.0‰ for δ13C and δ15N, respectively. The dietary results showed that all demographic groups relied heavily on low trophic level seagrass‐associated prey. Bayesian standard ellipse areas (SEAb) were calculated to assess diversity in resource use. The SEAb of females was nearly four times larger than that of males indicating varied resource use, likely a consequence of small home ranges and habitat specialization. Juveniles possessed an intermediate SEAb, generally feeding at a lower trophic level compared to females, potentially an effect of natal philopatry and immature foraging skills. The small SEAb of males reflects a high degree of specialization on seagrass associated prey. Patterns in resource use by the demographic groups are likely linked to differences in the relative importance of social and ecological factors. 相似文献

Theory and recent literature suggest strong effects of induced plant defences in some plant herbivore systems. Few have studied behavioural effects on intact plants. Differences in foraging behaviour as well as weight gain were determined for first instar Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. (Brassicaceae) mutant and wild type plants, non‐primed, or primed by herbivore feeding or methyl jasmonate. The differences in feeding were primarily in the length of feeding time as opposed to the area fed on, feeding location, or frequency. More larvae dispersed from plants after priming by mite feeding than dispersed after caterpillar feeding. Other behavioural activities such as resting were not significantly affected. Early instars gained less weight feeding on ein2 (ethylene insensitive) mutant, but there was no difference in weight gain between larvae feeding on induced and non‐induced plants of the same type. We concluded that there are fitness consequences for neonates of the generalist H. armigera after feeding on induced plant tissues in some cases, and that distinct changes in behaviour are recognisable both at the fine scale and at grosser levels (dispersal). Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are natural stressors in the coastal environment that may be increasing in frequency and severity. This study investigates whether severe red tide blooms, caused by Karenia brevis, affect the behavior of resident coastal bottlenose dolphins in Sarasota Bay, Florida through changes to juvenile dolphin activity budgets, ranging patterns, and social associations. Behavioral observations were conducted on free‐ranging juvenile dolphins during the summer months of 2005–2007, and behavior during red tide blooms was compared to periods of background K. brevis abundance. We also utilized dolphin group sighting data from 2004 to 2007 to obtain comparison information from before the most severe recent red tide of 2005 and incorporate social association information from adults in the study area. We found that coastal dolphins displayed a suite of behavioral changes associated with red tide blooms, including significantly altered activity budgets, increased sociality, and expanded ranging behavior. At present, we do not fully understand the mechanism behind these red tide‐associated behavioral effects, but they are most likely linked to underlying changes in resource availability and distribution. These behavioral changes have implications for more widespread population impacts, including increased susceptibility to disease outbreaks, which may contribute to unusual mortality events during HABs. 相似文献

A previously undescribed skin abnormality, referred to as “linear skin markings” (LSM), has been identified in free-ranging common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in the Indian River Lagoon, Florida (IRL). The lesions were identified during photo-identification surveys conducted from 2002 and 2015. LSM presented as distinct, parallel lines running dorso-ventrally on the torso and varied in length and width. The goals of this study were to determine (1) prevalence of the condition in IRL dolphins, (2) age and sex distribution of affected animals, (3) spatial and temporal distribution patterns, (4) duration of the condition, and (5) development of hypotheses regarding the etiology of the condition. Among 1,357 individual dolphins identified during the study period, 96 (7.0%) showed evidence of LSM. Nearly all (98.8%) cases with an established home range occurred in the northern and central regions of the IRL. The majority of cases of known sex were female (85%), of which 100% had given birth to one or more calves. The mean age of animals with LSM when first observed was 7.3 with a range of 1–20 years. The maximum observed duration of LSM was 15 years. Once observed, the condition persisted indefinitely. The etiology of LSM has not been established. 相似文献
