A part of the big three cereal crops in the world, wheat has become a major constituent of the everyday food chain and is grown at a massive scale to meet global demands. This makes it an important crop from an economic as well as food security perspective. Selection of high-quality cultivars and consistent trait enhancement for such cultivars is crucial, and in light of new challenges from climate change, this has become an absolute necessity of time. In this regard, we conducted a detailed qualitative and quantitative trait analysis for multiple commercially viable varieties of wheat, and corresponding results were subjected to a series of critical statistical analyses. Final results have shown that five cultivars including Uqaab-2000, Faisalabad- 85, Anmol-19, NARC-2009, and Pirsabak-2004 depicts higher levels of various essential qualitative and quantitative traits (including Starch content, grain weight, RS content, Protein content, etc.) and are most viable varieties for further growth and trait enhancements to meet regional and global food challenges.  相似文献

We used a well-characterized barley mapping population (BCD 47 × Baronesse) to determine if barley stripe rust (BSR) resistance quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapped in Mexico and the USA were effective against a reported new race in Peru. Essentially the same resistance QTL were detected using data from each of the three environments, indicating that these resistance alleles are effective against the spectrum of naturally occurring races at these sites. In addition to the mapping population, we evaluated a germplasm array consisting of lines with different numbers of mapped BSR resistance alleles. A higher BSR disease severity on CI10587, which has a single qualitative resistance gene, in Peru versus Mexico suggests there are differences in pathogen virulence between the two locations. Confirmation of a new race in Peru will require characterization using a standard set of differentials, an experiment that is underway. The highest levels of resistance in Peru were observed when the qualitative resistance gene was pyramided with quantitative resistance alleles. We also used the mapping population to locate QTL conferring resistance to barley leaf rust and barley powdery mildew. For mildew, we identified resistance QTL under field conditions in Peru that are distinct from the Mla resistance that we mapped using specific isolates under controlled conditions. These results demonstrate the long-term utility of a reference mapping population and a well-characterized germplasm array for locating and validating genes conferring quantitative and qualitative resistance to multiple pathogens.  相似文献

In this paper, a chemostat model with Beddington-DeAnglis uptake function and impulsive state feedback control is considered. We obtain sufficient conditions of the global asymptotical stability of the system without impulsive state feedback control. We also obtain that the system with impulsive state feedback control has periodic solution of order one. Sufficient conditions for existence and stability of periodic solution of order one are given. In some cases, it is possible that the system exists periodic solution of order two. Our results show that the control measure is effective and reliable.  相似文献

Field resistance to cyst nematode (SCN) race 3 (Heterodera glycines I.) in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] cv ’Forrest’ is conditioned by two QTLs: the underlying genes are presumed to include Rhg1 on linkage group G and Rhg4 on linkage group A2. A population of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) and two populations of near-isogenic lines (NILs) derived from a cross of Forrest×Essex were used to map the loci affecting resistance to SCN. Bulked segregant analysis, with 512 AFLP primer combinations and microsatellite markers, produced a high-density genetic map for the intervals carrying Rhg1 and Rhg4. The two QTLs involved in resistance to SCN were strongly associated with the AFLP marker EATGMCGA87 (P=0.0001, R2=24.5%) on linkage group G, and the AFLP marker ECCGMAAC405 (P=0.0001, R2 =26.2%) on linkage group A2. Two- way analysis of variance showed epistasic interaction (P=0.0001, R2 =16%) between the two loci controlling SCN resistance in Essex×Forrest recombinant inbred lines. Considering the two loci as qualitative genes and the resistance as female index FI <5%, jointly the two loci explained over 98% of the resistance. The locations of the two QTLs were confirmed in the NILs populations. Therefore SCN resistance in Forrest×Essex is bigenic. High-efficiency marker-assisted selection can be performed using the markers to develop cultivars with stable resistance to SCN. Received: 5 November 2000 / Accepted: 23 January 2001  相似文献

The recent steep decline in Iran's birthrate poses methodological and interpretive challenges insofar as statistical information on demographic factors cannot satisfactorily establish causalities or delineate processes of change. Our research suggests that this decline rests on the interplay of socio-cultural “idea” variables that augment factors of the developmental paradigm commonly used in population studies. Especially modernist ideas labeled “progress” in Iran have influenced reproductive behavior. Aiming to demonstrate the usefulness of idea-oriented qualitative research for understanding demographic dynamics represented quantitatively in the literature, we contribute to an explanation of a particular case as well as to demographic research methods.  相似文献

 The transient behavior of a class of nonlinear differential systems representing stage-structured populations is studied. The qualitative dynamics are described in terms of succession of extrema for the state variables, or for the integrated difference between two trajectories. The rules giving the possibilities of extrema are derived, they characterize the classical stage-structured models. These rules can be compared with experiments to validate the structure of the model. An explanation for the disagreement of this transition scheme with some experiments could be an unexpected interaction with another variable. A new model taking the interaction into account thus engenders new transition rules, which are to be compared with experiments. These results are illustrated with experiments on copepods, showing how the qualitative experimental features can help the construction and the validation of the models. 目的:了解无陪护老年病人在住院期间的护理需求。方法:采用质性研究中现象学研究的半结构化、面对面、深度访谈方法采访11位内科无陪护老年病人,之后依据Claizzit的现象学资料7步分析法分析、整理资料。结果:无陪护老年病人住院期间的需求涉及病室、护理人员、陪护人员三方面。结论:无陪护老年病人住院期间有着其特殊需求,无陪护的原因主要有经济因素及陪护人员综合素质较低、无统一管理等,所以除了医院在护理工作中针对这类病人给予一些特殊照护外,呼吁政府建立规范的陪护人员培训及管理机构,为广大患者提供正规、专业化的陪护。  相似文献

Summary The diversity of two sympatrically distributed barley species (Hordeum vulgare L. and Hordeum spontaneum C. Koch.) has been assessed for 7 morphometric and 13 qualitative traits. Phenotypically, Hordeum vulgare was more stable than Hordeum spontaneum for all morphometric traits; this is a reflection of domestication and selection. The overall diversity indexes were 0.546±0.125 and 0.502±0.113 for Hordeum vulgare and Hordeum spontaneum, respectively (P=0.095). However, Hordeum spontaneum expressed a higher level of diversity for most qualitative traits. The observed similarity for a number of diversity indexes is probably due to gene flow between the two species.  相似文献

In case of nutritional stress, like carbon starvation, Escherichia coli cells abandon their exponential-growth state to enter a more resistant, non-growth state called stationary phase. This growth-phase transition is controlled by a genetic regulatory network integrating various environmental signals. Although E. coli is a paradigm of the bacterial world, it is little understood how its response to carbon starvation conditions emerges from the interactions between the different components of the regulatory network. Using a qualitative method that is able to overcome the current lack of quantitative data on kinetic parameters and molecular concentrations, we model the carbon starvation response network and simulate the response of E. coli cells to carbon deprivation. This allows us to identify essential features of the transition between exponential and stationary phase and to make new predictions on the qualitative system behavior following a carbon upshift.  相似文献
