Rhagodes Pocock, 1897 is the most speciose genus within the family Rhagodidae and species diagnosis is often very difficult. We found Rhagodes eylandti (Walter, 1889) for the first time again since the 1930s and redescribe some morphological features of the male and compare them with the literature. 电镜下观察了18峰双峰驼(Camelus bactrianus)肾脏细胞的超微结构,探究驼肾重吸收机能的形态学证据。结果显示,驼肾近曲小管的刷状缘高而密集,上皮细胞胞质顶端具有丰富的管泡结构,侧基底指状突起和基底质膜内褶多而明显,板状嵴线粒体发达。远曲小管和远直小管游离面微绒毛短而稀少,胞质线粒体排列密集,质膜内褶更为发达。集合小管上皮包括多量的亮细胞和少量的暗细胞两种类型,亮细胞结构简单,线粒体稀少,暗细胞线粒体密集,由皮质至髓质,暗细胞数量呈递减趋势,但内髓仍见暗细胞分布。皮质间质极少,志细血管丰富,管壁内皮菲薄有孔。髓质直小血管亦为有孔内皮。上述结构特征表明,双峰驼具有很强的重吸收能力,与其节水耐干渴特性相适应。  相似文献

The opiate activities of some derivatives and enzymatic digests of camel and human β-endorphin were determined in the guinea pig ileum and rat brain opiate receptor binding assays. Derivatives of β-endorphins altered within the amino-terminal five residues showed pronounced losses in activity. Anisylation of the C-terminal glutamic acid residue of βh-endorphin produced only small reductions in activity. Chymotryptic digestion greatly weakened the opiate activities of βh-endorphin, whereas carboxypeptidase A, tryptic and leucine aminopeptidase digests showed only small losses in potency. The C-terminus of β-endorphin appears to contribute little directly to opiate activity. Amino acid analysis and assay of the leucine aminopeptidase digests suggest that the larger potency of β-endorphin relative to Met-enkephalin may be a consequence of its greater resistance to exopeptidase attack.  相似文献

Cryptosporidium is a ubiquitous enteropathogen protozoan infection affecting livestock worldwide. The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection in different age groups of dromedary camels in northwestern Iran from November 2009 to July 2010. A total number of 170 fecal samples were collected and examined using modified Ziehl-Neelsen (MZN) staining under light microscope. Examination of stained fecal smears revealed that 17 camels (10%) were positive for Cryptosporidium-like. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium-like was significantly higher in camel calves (< 1 years old) (20%) than other age groups, in which the diarrhoeic calves had the prevalence of 16%. In adult camels the prevalence was 6.5%. There was no significant difference in the prevalence of Cryptosporidium-like between male and female camels. It is concluded that Cryptosporidium infection is a problem in camel husbandry and could be of public health concern in the region.  相似文献

This study reports on the purification and characterization of a cationic enzyme with chymotryptic activity from camel pancreas. The enzyme was purified 52-fold in a 48% yield by a three-step chromatographic procedure consisting of anion-exchange, cation-exchange and affinity chromatographies. The purified enzyme was homogeneous on gel isoelectric focusing and on SDS gel electrophoresis. Its isoelectric point was estimated to be 7.3 and its molecular mass was found to be 23,600 Da. The enzyme was identified as a cationic chymotrypsin according to its physiochemical properties, substrate specificity and susceptibility to inhibition. It was active towards esters of aromatic amino acids but much less active towards a leucine ester. In all cases, the kcat values of the camel enzyme were less than the corresponding values of bovine chymotrypsin A. It also showed a lower level of kininase activity. Camel chymotrypsin was more susceptible than its bovine equivalent to inhibition by soybean trypsin inhibitor and aprotinin. It showed the same pH optimium as bovine chymotrypsin A for its esterolytic activity, but was more dependent on CaCl2 for long-term stability.  相似文献

Protoscoleces from human, camel, cattle, sheep, goat (all from Kenya) and buffalo (from India) hydatid cysts were cultured under identical conditions in vitro using the diphasic culture system of Smyth (1979b). Organisms from all sources grew and segmented in culture. Genital anlagen developed in all cultured worms but further genital differentiation occurred only in cultures of cattle (testes) and camel (testes and genital pore) material. The possible significance of these results is discussed in relation to the general epidemiology of hydatid disease and the potential infectivity of the different strains to man.  相似文献

Stereospecific binding of human β-endorphin to rat membrane preparations is described for the first time using [3H-Tyr27]-βh-endorphin as the ligand. The binding is time dependent and saturable with respect to βh-endorphin with an apparent dissociation constant of 0.3 nM. Sodium ion (100 mM) elevates this value to 2.5 nM but has no effect on the total number of binding sites present in the membrane preparation. The ability of certain β-endorphin analogs, opiate agonists as well as antagonists to inhibit the binding of βh-endorphin, is presented.  相似文献

Summary This study reconstructed heterogeneous embryos using camel skin fibroblast cells as donor karyoplasts and the bovine oocytes as recipient cytoplasts to investigate the reprogramming of camel somatic cell nuclei in bovine oocyte cytoplasm and the developmental potential of the reconstructed embryos. Serum-starved skin fibroblast cells, obtained from adult camel, were electrically fused into enucleated bovine metaphase II (MII) oocytes that were matured in vitro. The fused eggs were activated by Inomycin with 2 mM/ml 6-dimethylaminopurine. The activated reconstructed embryos were cocultured with bovine cumulus cells in synthetic oviduct fluid supplemented with amino acid (SOFaa) and 10% fetal calf serum for 168 h. Results showed that 53% of the injected oocytes were successfully fused, 34% of the fused eggs underwent the first egg cleavage, and 100% of them developed to four- or 16-cell embryo stages. The first completed cleavage of xenonuclear transfer camel embryos occurred between 22 and 48 h following activation. This study demonstrated that the reconstructed embryos underwent the first embryonic division and that the reprogramming of camel fibroblast nuclei can be initiated in enucleated bovine MII oocytes.  相似文献

AIMS: Isolation and characterization of Streptococcus bovis from the dromedary camel and Rusa deer. METHODS AND RESULTS: Bacteria were isolated from the rumen contents of four camels and two deer fed lucerne hay by culturing on the semi-selective medium MRS agar. Based on Gram morphology and RFLP analysis seven isolates, MPR1, MPR2, MPR3, MPR4, MPR5, RD09 and RD11 were selected and putatively identified as Streptococcus. The identity of these isolates was later confirmed by comparative DNA sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene with the homologous sequence from S. bovis strains, JB1, C14b1, NCFB2476, SbR1, SbR7 and Sb5, from cattle and sheep, and the Streptococcus equinus strain NCD01037T. The percentage similarity amongst all strains was >99%, confirming the identification of the camel isolates as S. bovis. The strains were further characterized by their ability to utilize a range of carbohydrates, the production of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and lactate and the determination of the doubling time in basal medium 10 supplemented with glucose. All the isolates produced l-lactate as a major fermentation end product, while four of five camel isolates produced VFA. The range of carbohydrates utilized by all the strains tested, including those from cattle and sheep were identical, except that all camel isolates and the deer isolate RD11 were additionally able to utilize arabinose. CONCLUSIONS: Streptococcus bovis was successfully isolated from the rumen of camels and deer, and shown by molecular and biochemical characterization to be almost identical to S. bovis isolates from cattle and sheep. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: Streptococcus bovis is considered a key lactic acid producing bacterium from the gastrointestinal tract of ruminants, and has been implicated as a causative agent of lactic acidosis. This study is the first report of the isolation and characterization of S. bovis from the dromedary camel and Rusa deer, and suggests a major contributive role of this bacterium to fermentative acidosis.  相似文献
