Using full scan GC-MS a wide range of gibberellins (GAs) was identified in the young inflorescences of the dioecious species Rumex acetosa L., consistent with the ubiquitous early 13-hydroxylation pathway in both male and female plants. In addition, R. acetosa is the first species in which all three 3beta,13-dihydroxylated C(20)-GAs-GA(18), GA(38) and GA(23)-have been identified in the same organism, suggesting an early 3beta,13-dihydroxylation biosynthesis pathway in this species. Authentic GA(18), GA(38) and GA(23) were synthesized and their effects and that of GA(1), a GA common to both pathways, on the time to inflorescence emergence was investigated. GA(1) accelerated the emergence of inflorescences in both male and female plants. In addition some evidence for biological activity per se of the C(20)-GA(38) was obtained.  相似文献

A flavonol-3-O-beta-heterodisaccharide glycosidase (FHG I) was isolated from dried aerial tissues of Fagopyrum esculentum Moench (Fagopyri herba). It has a specific enzyme activity of ca. 3.5 nkat mg(-1) protein in buffered extracts when rutin (quercetin-3-O-rutinoside) was used as substrate and an optimal enzyme activity was seen at around pH 4.8 and 30 degrees C. FHG I was purified about 156-fold to apparent homogeneity by hydrophobic interaction, anion exchange and size exclusion chromatographic steps. The apparent molecular mass of FHG I was 74.5+/-2 kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE and it is a monomeric glycoprotein with a carbohydrate content of 23%. The isoelectric point as determined by isoelectric focusing was 5.7 and the energy of activation was 32 kJ mol(-1). FHG I exhibits a high substrate specificity, preferring flavonol 3-O-glycosides comprising the disaccharide rutinose. The K(m) and V(max) values for the natural substrate rutin were calculated to be 0.561 microM and 745 nkat mg (-1) protein, respectively. Two oligopeptide fragments obtained after enzymatic digestion of FHG I were sequenced and showed similarities to sequences of beta-glucohydrolases from other plant species. Polyclonal antibodies were raised and their specificities determined. Another flavonol 3-O-beta-heterodisaccharide glycosidase (FHG II) could also be detected in buckwheat herb, having a molecular mass of 85.3+/-2 kDa and an isoelectric point between pH 6.0 and 6.5.  相似文献

Growth responses of Rumex species in relation to submergence and ethylene   总被引:7,自引:3,他引:4  
Abstract. Submergence stimulates growth of the petioles of Rumex palustris and Rumex crispus under field, greenhouse and laboratory conditions. Growth of Rumex acetosa petioles was hardly influenced by submergence. These growth responses under flooded conditions can be partially mimicked by exposing non-submerged Rumex plants to ethylene-air mixtures. Submergence of intact plants in a solution of AgNO3 inhibited the elongation of all petioles of R. palustris and the youngest petiole of R. crispus and stimulated growth of the youngest petiole of R. acetosa , The ethylene-air mixture experiments, the effect of AgNO3 and observed increase of the endogenous ethylene concentration during submergence suggest that ethylene plays a regulatory role in the growth responses of these Rumex species under submerged conditions. The three Rumex species showed a gradient in elongation responses to submergence, which correlates with the field distribution of the three species in a flooding gradient.  相似文献

利用光学显微镜、扫描电镜对15种,透射电镜对2种国产酸模属植物的花粉进行观察与研究。本属花粉为球形或近球形,大小为15~40×18~40μm。具3孔沟、4斜孔沟、散孔沟、散沟等;沟或外沟狭长,几达两极,内陷或不内陷,内孔圆形、稍横长或纵长;表面具皱波状纹饰;外壁厚1.0~3.5μm,外层明显厚于内层。在透射电镜下,花粉外壁分3层:覆盖层最厚,具穴状或穿孔,颗粒状或刺状纹饰,内面均匀;柱状层明显,厚,小柱为钝圆锥体或圆柱状,基层和内层不分,最薄,但在萌发孔处明显增厚。根据花粉形态,本属花粉可以分成7个组,它们是:小酸模组、滨海酸模组、酸模组、土大黄组、荒地酸模组、巴天酸模组和钝叶酸模组。对萌发孔分布规律的研究,基本支持Wodehouse(1931)的观点,同时据花粉萌发孔演化的规律,认为本属花粉可能是蓼科花粉由少数萌发孔向多数萌发孔演化的过渡类型。  相似文献

U-14C-phenylalanine and 3-14C-cinnamic acid were fed to detached Polygonum leaves through the cut petioles and to the bases of detached wheat leaves. After feeding, the leaves were divided into basal, middle and terminal segments; for each treatment of each plant more than 80% of the total radioactivity incorporated remained in the basal segment. The distribution of radioactivity between ethanol-soluble and insoluble fractions in each segment was examined. The basal segments contained more insoluble radioactivity than the terminal ones; the differences were far more marked for both plants when cinnamate rather than phenylalanine was administered. In view of the gross differences in distribution of radioactivity between the basal and terminal segments of each leaf, it is concluded that basal infusion of precursors is not the most suitable technique for studies of phenolic biosynthesis.  相似文献

Summary Rates of leaf extension have been studied with electronic auxanometers at mid-altitude in the Austrian Alps, where both low and high altitude species co-occur. The results demonstrate a clear differentiation in the temperature responses of extension between these two groups of species. For the low or mid-altitude species of Achillea millefolium, Agrostis stolonifera, Poa alpina and Rumex arifolius, the average rate of leaf extension increases from 0.1 to 0.4 mm h-1 between 10 and 20° C. For the high-alpine species of Achillea erba-rotta ssp moschata, Poa alpina ssp vivipara and Polygonum viviparum the average rate of leaf extension was considerably lower from 0.016 to 0.064 mm h-1, between 10 and 20° C.Leaf extension in the lowland species was not observed below an average temperature of about 5° C, whilst no limit was observed for the upland species, down to a temperature of about 0° C.In the cases of the dicotyledons that were studied, leaf plus petiole shrinkage was observed to occur, for as much as 2 to 4 h, during periods of high water vapour pressure deficits. This response was not observed for the monocotyledons.The observations of leaf extension show that daily totals of extension in species from high altitudies will be much less sensitive to day, to day variations in local climate than will the species from low altitudes. The lowland species will have higher rates of extension during clear and warm weather conditions but lower rates in cold, cloudy weather.  相似文献

The latitudinal diversity gradient (LDG) is one of the most striking and consistent biodiversity patterns across taxonomic groups. We investigate the species richness gradient in the buckwheat family, Polygonaceae, which exhibits a reverse LDG and is, thus, decoupled from dominant gradients of energy and environmental stability that increase toward the tropics and confound mechanistic interpretations. We test competing age and evolutionary diversification hypotheses, which may explain the diversification of this plant family over the past 70 million years. Our analyses show that the age hypothesis, which posits that clade richness is positively correlated with the ecological and evolutionary time since clade origin, fails to explain the richness gradient observed in Polygonaceae. However, an evolutionary diversification hypothesis is highly supported, with diversification rates being 3.5 times higher in temperate clades compared to tropical clades. We demonstrate that differences in rates of speciation, migration, and molecular evolution insufficiently explain the observed patterns of differential diversification rates. We suggest that reduced extinction rates in temperate clades may be associated with adaptive responses to selection, through which seed morphology and climatic tolerances potentially act to minimize risk in temporally variable environments. Further study is needed to understand causal pathways among these traits and factors correlated with latitude.  相似文献

The pollen of 30 taxa (27 species, one subspecies and two varieties) in two genera, viz Polygonum s. str. and Polygonella was investigated with LM and SEM, and some selected taxa with TEM. In all genera investigated the pollen is prolate to spheroidal, and the aperture is mostly tricolporate, rarely panto-hexacolporate (especially Polygonum section Polygonum). The exine sculpturing pattern is the most variable feature. Three types of exine can be recognized. Type 1 (Avicularia-Type, sensu Hedberg) - All species of section Polygonum and section Tephis share the smooth tectate exine with spinules, sometimes the surface is more or less rough (Polygonum afromontanum in section Tephis). Type 2 (Pseudomollia-Type, sensu Hong) - Pollen of Polygonum molliaeforme (section Pseudomollia) has the exine, which is verrucose on both poles and nearby the mesocolpium, and mostly psilate around the ectoaperture. Type 3 (Duravia-Type, sensu Hedberg) - Pollen grains of Polygonum section Duravia and Polygonella have the exine which is semitectate-reticulate at the mesocolpium and the poles, and rugulate/reticulate or sometimes foveolate with microspinules around the ectoapertures. The pollen grains in four taxa (viz Polygonum section Pseudomollia, P. section Duravia and genus Polygonella) have a well-marked dimorphism of the ektexine, which is considered to be a synapomorphic condition. The differences of pollen grain between the genus Polygonella and Polygonum section Duravia are almost non existent and clearly interrelated. It is therefore postulated that the similarity in pollen of both taxa is not the result of convergency, but is interpreted as a homology. It is noteworthy that the pollen of Polygonum molliaeforme (section Pseudomollia) appears as intermediate between the Avicularia-type and the Duravia-type, and is well supported the value of separated section for its own. Additionally, in TEM, some exine ultrastructures (e.g. columellae, foot layer, endexine) appear to be valuable characters for comparison between/among taxa. The systematic potentialities of the pollen data of the studied taxa at various systematic levels are also discussed.  相似文献

We observed phenology and insect visitors of chasmogamous flowers of an amphicarpic annual, Polygonum thunbergii (Polygonaceae) in Kyoto, Japan, and clarified limiting factors for fruit set by bagging and hand-pollination experiments. Flowering season was one month from late September. Flowers were visited by various insect groups (total 30 families and 64 species) and effective pollinators were lower bees (Halictidae) and wasps (Vespidae) in the early flowering season, and middle-sized flies (Syrphidae and Calliphoridae) in the later season. Nectar was secreted at a constant rate (0.013mg sugar/hour) throughout a day and >90% of it was consumed by insects. The average number of flowers per ramet was 122, of which 95% were pollinated in the natural conditions. Bagging experiments showed that 47% of flowers were self-pollinated even under no pollinator visits. Despite of a high probability of cross pollination, the probability of fruit set within the ramet was 0.30 due to resource limitation. We discussed possible adaptive significance of cleistogamous flowers under the condition that seeds could be produced by chasmogamous flowers through self-pollination even under pollinator limited conditions.  相似文献
