在39只用三碘季铵酚麻痹的成年家兔上观察刺激大脑皮层听区对内膝体神经元听反应的影响。刺激 Woolsey 氏 AⅠ、AⅡ区及其周围颞叶皮层,或刺激大脑嗅鼻沟后缘皮层,能抑制一部分 MGB 神经元的听反应,但也有少数神经元受到易化。有效的颞叶皮层刺激点分布范围弥散,而嗅鼻沟后缘皮层的有效刺激点分布得相当集中。根据抑制潜伏期较短以及抑制内膝体早、晚二反应的潜伏期相同等事实,作者认为,刺激嗅鼻沟后缘皮层对 MGB 神经元的下行性影响发生在 MGB 核团之内。 相似文献

A model of a myelinated nerve axon is developed on the basis of FitzHugh-Nagumo dynamics under the assumption that the nodes of Ranvier are of small but finite width. It is shown that a periodic excited state may not exist if the width of the nodes is too small and the leakage across the myelin sheath is too great. The propagation of a super threshold pulse is prevented in the absence of nodes. Here we obtain, under rather general conditions on the equations, a criterion for judging whether the species will coexist in a biologically realistic manner. This criterion depends only on the behaviour near the one or two species equilibria of the two dimensional subsystems, the behaviour there being relatively easy to examine experimentally. We show that with the exception of one class of cases, which is a generalization of a classical example of May and Leonard [21], invasibility at each such equilibrium suitably interpreted is both necessary and sufficient for a strong form of coexistence to hold. The harpacticoid fauna of a sandy sediment in the Sluice Dock of Ostend, Belgium, was dominated by a single species, Canuella perplexa, that attained an average annual density of over 400 ind. 10 cm–2 in 1976 and 1977, whereas other species had a total mean density of less than 10 ind. 10 cm–2. In the summer of 1979 a dystrophic crisis with abundant growth of Ulva occurred and in March 1980 the lagoon was drained. After refilling of the lagoon, the sediment was immediately colonized by good swimming harpacticoids, that attained densities of 200 ind. 10 cm–2. Phytoplankton community structure and distribution in the nearshore zone of Lake Ontario 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Spatial and temporal distributions of phytoplankton were studied during 1979 in the nearshore zone of Lake Ontario. Genera such as Dinobryon, Oscillatoria, and Gymnodinium tended to be found at discrete depths whereas other genera such as Cryptomonas and Rhodomonas tended to be more uniformly distributed throughout the water column. The discrete depth distribution of some of these genera compared with the weak thermal stabilization of the area suggests depth selection and habitat preference within the algal community.Physical processes probably played a major role in regulating the timing and duration of vertical diatom pulses, and resuspension from the sediment played a major role as to the timing of the autumn growth. Vertical mixing in the nearshore zone was sufficient for some diatom genera such as Tabellaria to maintain populations throughout the summer. These mixing processes, however, affect the stability of community structures and associations that develop within the water column. The role of physical processes and their potential effects on algal production in the Great Lakes is discussed. 相似文献

Diurnal variations of in vitro and in vivo (intact tissue assay) nitrate reductase (EC 1.6.6.1) activity and stability were examined in leaves of wheat ( Triticum aestivum L. cv. Runar), oat ( Avcna saliva L. cv. Mustang) and barley ( Hordeum vulgure L. cv. Agneta and cv. Gunillu). Nitrate reductase activity was generally higher for wheat than for oat and barley. However, the diurnal variations of nitrate reductase activity and stability were principally the same for all species, e.g. the high activity during the photoperiod was associated with low stability. All species showed a rapid (30-60 min) increase in the in vitro and in vivo activity when the light was switched on. When light was switched off the in vitro activity decreased rapidly whereas decrease in in vivo activity was slower. These experiments support the hypothesis that an activation/ deactivation mechanism is involved in the regulation of diurnal variations in nitrate reductase activity. Red light enhanced nitrate reductase activity in etiolated wheat and barley leaves. In green leaves, however, the daily increase in nitrate reductase activity was not induced by a brief red light treatment. Indications of different regulation mechanisms for the diurnal variations of nitrate reductase activity among the cereals were not found. 相似文献

Boar sperm glycoprotein fractions were isolated by Lens culinaris hemagglutinin affinity chromatography of detergent-solubilized ejaculated spermatozoa, followed by preparative sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. In order to develop methods for further investigations of the sperm proteins, we proceeded with two of the isolated glycoproteins. Antibodies were raised in female rabbits against each of the two sperm glycoproteins. By a combination of immunosorbent chromatography, using the antibodies obtained, and preparative SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, highly purified sperm proteins were isolated. The sperm proteins were immobilized on Sepharose gel columns and specific immunoglobulin Fab fragments were enriched by affinity chromatography. The specificity of the Fab fragments was ascertained by immunoprecipitation analysis. The Fab fragments were used in indirect immunofluorescence analysis to localize the corresponding antigens on the surface of boar spermatozoa. Both antigens were exclusively confined to the postacrosomal region. Immunohistochemical staining of boar testis sections revealed that both antigens are expressed from the spermatid stage. This technique also revealed that one of the antigens congregated at the Golgi complex-acrosome region during spermatogenesis. 相似文献

Fifteen common native British plants were each sampled at a range of sites in Great Britain and green tissues analysed for several inorganic nutrients. Sampling criteria are discussed. The inter-site variation of each element within a species is assessed as a frequency distribution of raw data. Sample values of parameters including arithmetic mean, variance (coefficient of variation), skewness and kurtosis are presented. Their stability is assessed from nitrogen in sub-samples of Pteridium. This suggested sample sizes were adequate but some distributions had sufficient kurtosis to affect the variance. These parameters showed distinctions between macro- and micro-elements and between species. Some mean values sharply distinguished between species and may help to assess current theories of strategy and adaptation but a wider range of species is needed to clarify trends. Coefficients of variation are discussed and were relatively low for a nation-wide survey after allowing for sampling constraints. Coefficients of skewness and kurtosis showed two-thirds of the sample distributions were non-normal. Ecological aspects of the distributions are discussed and are relevant to studies along environmental gradients. Published hypotheses linking positive skewness to stress in the field are considered and two other postulates discussed. Distribution bounds such as those confining 95% of the values are discussed in relation to possible critical levels of nutrients.Nomenclature follows Clapham et al. Abstract The leading region of the F plasmid has been found to extend the maintenance of the normally unstable plasmid vector pACYC184. This ability is due to effective partitioning of plasmid molecules at cell division. Cloning, deletion analysis and transposon mutagenesis have located the partitioning region (ParL) to be encoded within 63.65–64.11F.
