Expanding on studies of the incidence and valence of emotions in dreams and their relationship with waking life satisfaction, home and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep dreams were collected from 30 late adulthood and 28 young women who had filled out a life satisfaction scale. Four positive and 4 negative dream emotions were self-rated. Both groups reported more emotions, with greater intensity, in home dreams than in REM dreams, particularly the older group. Regardless of age, intensity of negative emotions was lower in laboratory dreams than in home dreams, but there was no difference for positive emotions. The older women's home dreams had fewer negative emotions, with lower intensity, than did the young women's. Life satisfaction did not differ between age groups and was not significantly related to dream emotions. These results reinforce the distinction between home and laboratory dreams and question the relation between dream emotions and life satisfaction. We investigate the relationship between relative concerns with respect to income and the quantity and quality of sleep using a 6-year panel dataset on the sleep behavior of people in Germany. We find a substantial negative association between relative income and number of hours of sleep and satisfaction with sleep, i.e., sleep quality, whereas there is no particular association between absolute level of income and sleep quantity and quality. A 10-percent increase in the income of relevant others is associated with 6–8 min decrease in a person's weekly amount of sleep on average, yet this effect is particularly strong among the relatively deprived, i.e., upward comparers, as this group shows a corresponding decrease in sleeping time of 10–12 min/week. These findings are highly robust to several specification checks, including measures of relative concerns, reference group, income inequality, and local price differences. The heterogeneity analysis reveals that the relationship is mainly driven by people with relatively fewer working hours, a higher demand for household production and leisure activities, and lower physical health and well-being.  相似文献

Background: Total tooth loss is a serious life event, and poor oral health has an impact on daily life. Edentulism treated by rehabilitation with dentures can have a positive effect on patients’ self‐image and social behaviour. Methods: A group of 80 edentulous subjects undergoing routine prosthetic care in a Greek Department of Prosthetic Dentistry were interviewed using two structured questionnaires. The first questionnaire explored reactions to tooth loss, whereas the second measured their subjective experience of complete dentures. The responses to both questionnaires were compared using the statistical package spss v.17. Results: The results showed significant correlation between aspects of tooth loss experience and complete denture satisfaction. Despite the fact that a substantial proportion of patients were satisfied with their complete dentures, some patients experienced increased social and psychological problems related to their edentulousness and the wearing of complete dentures. The aesthetic and functional aspects of complete dentures affected both patients’ social behaviour and self‐confidence. Conclusions: Total tooth loss was not only reflected in patient’s social behaviour and self‐image, but it had a complex and multifaceted impact on satisfaction from complete dentures.  相似文献

A comparison of patient satisfaction between treatment with conventional complete dentures and overdentures in the elderly: a literature review Background: It has been stated that mandibular overdentures are more satisfactory than conventional dentures, but problems relating to the use of retrospective ratings, lack of control group and sequential provision of treatment may compromise the findings. Objective: To establish a comparison between treatment with conventional complete dentures and implant‐retained overdentures in elderly patients by conducting a literature review. Materials and methods: A search of English language peer‐review literature was completed using Medline up to 2008 focusing on evidence‐based research. Randomised clinical trials (RCTs) and longitudinal prospective studies were favoured in the review, using a general hierarchical classification. Articles that did not focus exclusively on the comparison of patient satisfaction between complete dentures and overdentures were excluded from further evaluation. The last search was conducted in February 2008. Key terms included quality of life, patient satisfaction, edentulism, complete denture and overdenture. Results: Among the 90 articles found in the initial search, 27 met the inclusion criteria. This included 18 RCTs and eight prospective and one cohort study. Most of the articles stated superiority of the mandibular implant‐retained overdenture therapy over the conventional complete denture regarding patient satisfaction and quality of life. Conclusion: Even with implant treatment presenting higher patient satisfaction and improvement of quality of life, it was not possible to establish a direct comparison between the studies due to differences in adopted methodologies.  相似文献

Objective: To examine the relationship between BMI and patient satisfaction with health care providers using a nationally representative survey. Research Methods and Procedures: This analysis examined the 9914 adult patients who completed the 2000 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey and had visited a health care provider within 12 months of the survey. Linear regression models were employed with patient satisfaction as the dependent variable. The patient satisfaction scale was based on ratings from five questions assessing the quality of provider interactions. The independent variable was BMI, with adjustments for the domains of demographics, social‐economic status, health attitudes and behavior, health status, and health care use. BMI (weight in kilograms/square of height in meters) was classified as normal weight (18.5 to 24.9), overweight (25.0 to 29.9), or obese (≥30.0). Hierarchical models were used to evaluate how each domain modified the BMI‐satisfaction association. Results: Obese patients reported significantly greater satisfaction with their health care providers than their normal‐weight counterparts did (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in satisfaction between normal‐weight and overweight patients or between overweight and obese patients. The health status domain produced the largest modification in the BMI‐satisfaction relationship. Examination of interaction effects revealed that the association between BMI and satisfaction was confined to older persons. Discussion: In this nationally representative sample of individuals, obese persons were more satisfied than their normal‐weight counterparts. This finding counters those of previous studies. Incomplete adjustments for health care use and insurance status may have led to those conclusions.  相似文献

In the edentulous lower jaw implant stabilised dentures have proved clinically so successful that the indication for this treatment is now being discussed more often with geriatric patients. The aim of this study of edentate subjects was to determine the age-relation of the demand for denture improvement, the risks and feasibility of implant treatment. Sixty four complete denture wearers aged from 42 to 84 years took part in the study. A questionnaire was used to determine the subjective demand for denture improvement. For 33 subjects implants seemed possible. For these patients fear and scepticism concerning implant treatment were specified and quantified. Impaired general health was the most frequent absolute contra-indication for implants; the local oral prerequisites tended to be slightly less favourable in elderly. Older patients were more satisfied with poorly fitting dentures and were less prepared to take trouble to achieve denture improvement. Although scepticism concerning implant treatment was not age-related, patients who were keen for an improvement of their dentures were significantly younger and less sceptical about implants.  相似文献

A reduced representation of paroteins has been developed for use in restraint satisfaction calculations with dynamic simulated annealing. Each amino acid residue is represented by up to four spherical virtual atoms. The virtual bonds and excluded volume of these atoms has ben parameterized by analysis of 83 protein structures determined at high resolution by X-ray crystallography. The use of the new representation in NOE distance restraint satisfaction has been compared with the standard all-atom represntation for the determination of the structures of crambin, eshistatin, and protein G. Using the reduced representation, there is a 30-fold decrease in the computer time needed for generatin a single structure, and up to a 20-fold decrease in the time taken to produce an acceptable structure compared to using the all-atom representation. The root mean square deviation between the mean structure obtain with all-atom and reduced representation si between 1.5 and 1.7 Å for Cα atoms. The new representation is adequate for describing the “low-resolution” features of protein structure such as the general fold and the positions of the secondary structure for more detailed refinement with the full all-atom representation. © 1993 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

目的 分析精益管理应用于微创手术患者对护理满意度的影响。 方法  选择2012年1—12月530例入住我院行微创治疗的患者作为管理前组,同时应用精益管理理念和方法选择2013年1—12月400例同类患者作为管理后组,比较两组患者对护理满意度差异结果 管理后组明显优于管理后前组(P <0.05)。结论 精益管理有效改善了护理服务的质量,提高了微创手术患者对护理服务的满意度,同时促进了护理人员综合能力的提高,减少医疗设备的完好率,保证了手术的顺利完成。  相似文献

目的:了解居民对社区卫生服务的满意度情况,为提高社区卫生服务质量提供科学依据.方法:采用随机抽样法对青岛市五区/市(市北区、崂山区、李沧区、黄岛区、即墨市)12所社区卫生服务机构抽取样本进行问卷调查并对结果进行分析.结果:对社区卫生服务总体比较满意的人数占调查总人数的81.05%,12.95%的居民对社区卫生服务总体评价为非常满意,但居民对于健康档案的建立、社区卫生服务机构的设备配置以及药品种类满意度较低.结论:青岛市居民对社区卫生服务机构总体满意度较高,但个别服务还有较大的改善空间.  相似文献
