Direct observation as well as culture experiments revealed Dissodinium pseudolunula as an ectoparasite on eggs of the marine planktonic copepod Temora longicornis. The vegetative life cycle, especially the parasitic phase, which involves phagocytosis, is reported for the first time. The species resembles D. pseudocalani, which is also parasitic upon copepod eggs. The taxonomic position and the survival of D. pseudolunula during the absence of the host in the winter is discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. Experiments were performed on male Glossina morsitans morsitans Westw. and female Musca domestica L. to investigate their phototactic responses at long wavelengths. In both species, green light was less attractive than red (relative to a 400 nm standard). In M. domestica this can be adequately explained by an intensity-dependent phototactic reversal at wavelengths above 500 nm; red light could be matched in attractiveness by a low intensity green light, implying that no true red-green discriminating ability exists, but that red is perceived as a dim green. Although a partial phototactic reversal was also observed in G. m. morsitans at 525–575 nm, no tested intensity of green matched red in attractiveness. It appears therefore that G. m. morsitans may be an unusual dipteran in possessing a method of discriminating red and green light independently of intensity. Peptides of the RFamide family occur in neurosecretory cells of all nervous systems of Cnidaria so far studied. Photoreceptive organs – if evolved in a cnidarian species – are always associated with neural cells showing RFamide immunoreactivity. Experimental evidence for the function of RFamides and other neuropeptides in nervous systems and photoreceptive organs is, however, scarce or lacking. RFamide and LWamide immunoreactivity were surveyed in photoreceptive organs of the hydromedusa Cladonema radiatum, in rhopalia of the scyphozoan Aurelia aurita, and in rhopalia of the cubomedusa Tripedalia cystophora. A possible function of neuropeptides in transmission of photic stimuli was assayed by analysing photic behavior in Tripedalia, which has highly developed eyes, and in the simply constructed planula of the hydroid Hydractinia echinata, in which the mode of light perception is unknown. In both species, light orientation was effectively prevented by RFamides administered to the animals in micromolar concentration. In contrast, among four other neuropeptides occurring in the larva of Hydractinia, only one interfered with phototaxis and then only at 10× higher concentrations. Planulae depleted of bioactive peptideamides also lost phototaxis while still locomotorily active. The results support the hypothesis that one possible function of RFamides in Cnidaria is to transmit photic stimuli to epitheliomuscular targets.  相似文献

依据目前已有资料 ,从行为学、生理学及田间应用调查等方面概述了近几十年昆虫趋光性的国内外研究进展。其中 ,行为学与生理学研究较多 ,且两者结果基本一致 ,相互补充 ,为趋光性机制的假说提供了可靠的依据。关于昆虫趋光性机制的假说较多 ,其中报道较多的是光干扰假说、光定向行为假说和生物天线假说 3种 ,现在较为普遍接受的是前两者。光干扰假说是指刺眼作用干扰昆虫的正常活动导致趋光 ,而光定向行为假说则指昆虫趋光是由于光定向行为所致  相似文献

Light-induced sensory responses are among the oldest scientific observations on bacterial behavior. Various types of response have been characterized physiologically in detail. However, the molecular basis of this type of response is only slowly emerging. In many of these systems photosynthetic pigments absorb the light. This then generates a signal via electron transport, feeding into a canonical chemotaxis signal transduction pathway. Nevertheless, several examples have been identified in which dedicated photoreceptor proteins do play a role. The intrinsic complexity of some of these signal transduction systems is overwhelming, in part because of the significant apparent redundancy. The genomics information that is now available for several model organisms (in particular Rhodobacter sphaeroides and Synechocystis sp. PCC6803) facilitates obtaining an increasingly detailed view of the molecular basis of the partial reactions that jointly form the basis of this type of elementary behavioral response. 室内研究了光谱、光强度对棕榈蓟马雌成虫的趋、避光行为的影响。结果显示:在340—605 nm波谱内棕榈蓟马雌成虫对14个单色光刺激的趋光行为反应为多峰型。其中蓝光483 nm处峰最高,趋光反应率达34.96%,其次为绿光498—524 nm、562—582 nm、紫外光340 nm处;其避光行为反应共有3个峰,其中紫外光380 nm处最高,避光率18.08%,另外2个峰分别在橙光605 nm、紫光420 nm处。在趋光率较高的单色光(340、483、524、582 nm)和避光率较高的单色光(380、605 nm)以及白光刺激下,棕榈蓟马雌成虫的趋光率随光强增强的增强而提高,而避光率则随着光强的增强而降低;光强最弱时仍均有一定趋光率,最强时均未出现高端平台。因此:棕榈蓟马雌成虫对不同单色光具有明显的选择性,光谱和光强度对其趋光行为和避光行为有较大影响,光强度的影响作用与波长因素有关。  相似文献

Organisms use various strategies to cope with fluctuating environmental conditions. In diversified bet‐hedging, a single genotype exhibits phenotypic heterogeneity with the expectation that some individuals will survive transient selective pressures. To date, empirical evidence for bet‐hedging is scarce. Here, we observe that individual Drosophila melanogaster flies exhibit striking variation in light‐ and temperature‐preference behaviors. With a modeling approach that combines real world weather and climate data to simulate temperature preference‐dependent survival and reproduction, we find that a bet‐hedging strategy may underlie the observed interindividual behavioral diversity. Specifically, bet‐hedging outcompetes strategies in which individual thermal preferences are heritable. Animals employing bet‐hedging refrain from adapting to the coolness of spring with increased warm‐seeking that inevitably becomes counterproductive in the hot summer. This strategy is particularly valuable when mean seasonal temperatures are typical, or when there is considerable fluctuation in temperature within the season. The model predicts, and we experimentally verify, that the behaviors of individual flies are not heritable. Finally, we model the effects of historical weather data, climate change, and geographic seasonal variation on the optimal strategies underlying behavioral variation between individuals, characterizing the regimes in which bet‐hedging is advantageous.  相似文献

The photocycle kinetics of Platymonas subcordiformis channelrhodopsin-2 (PsChR2), among the most highly efficient light-gated cation channels and the most blue-shifted channelrhodopsin, was studied by time-resolved absorption spectroscopy in the 340–650-nm range and in the 100-ns to 3-s time window. Global exponential fitting of the time dependence of spectral changes revealed six lifetimes: 0.60 μs, 5.3 μs, 170 μs, 1.4 ms, 6.7 ms, and 1.4 s. The sequential intermediates derived for a single unidirectional cycle scheme based on these lifetimes were found to contain mixtures of K, L, M, O, and P molecular states, named in analogy to photointermediates in the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle. The photochemistry is described by the superposition of two independent parallel photocycles. The analysis revealed that 30% of the photoexcited receptor molecules followed Cycle 1 through the K, M, O, and P states, whereas 70% followed Cycle 2 through the K, L, M, and O states. The recovered state, R, is spectrally close, but not identical, to the dark state on the seconds time scale. The two-cycle model of this high efficiency channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR) opens new perspectives in understanding the mechanism of channelrhodopsin function.  相似文献

Regeneration and negative phototaxis were studied in planarians Polycelis tenuis, in which the anterior body end is fringed with many eyes. Comparative data for the same indices are given for binocular planarians Girardia tigrina. Multiple eyes regenerated gradually with a decrease in the rate of regeneration and independently from the rate of restoration of the anterior body end, where they are located. Negative phototaxis was restored independently from the total amount of regenerated eyes. It was unstable in both planarian species.  相似文献

This review focuses on the blue light responses in bacteria and on the bacterial proteins which have been demonstrated to function as blue light receptors. Results of the previous years reveal that different types of photoreceptors have already evolved in prokaryotes. However, for most of these photoreceptors the exact biological functions and the mechanisms of signaling to downstream components are poorly understood.  相似文献
