It is crucial to control the structure and composition of composite anode materials to enhance the cell performance of such anode materials for lithium ion batteries. Herein, a biomimetic strategy is demonstrated for the design of high performance anode materials, inspired by the structural characteristics and working principles of sticky spider‐webs. Hierarchically porous, sticky, spider‐web‐like multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) networks are prepared through a process involving ozonation, ice‐templating assembly, and thermal treatment, thereby integrating the networks with γ‐Fe2O3 particles. The spider‐web‐like MWCNT/γ‐Fe2O3 composite network not only traps the active γ‐Fe2O3 materials tightly but also provides fast charge transport through the 3D internetworked pathways and the mechanical integrity. Consequently, the composite web shows a high capacity of ≈822 mA h g?1 at 0.05 A g?1, fast rate capability with ≈72.3% retention at rates from 0.05 to 1 A g?1, and excellent cycling stability of >88% capacity retention after 310 cycles with a Coulombic efficiency >99%. These remarkable electrochemical performances are attributed to the complementarity of the 3D spider‐web‐like structure with the strong attachment of γ‐Fe2O3 particles on the sticky surface. This synthetic strategy offers an environmentally safe, simple, and cost‐effective avenue for the biomimetic design of high performance energy storage materials.  相似文献

Novel photoluminescent nanocomposite sheets were prepared for simple commercial manufacturing of transparent and luminous photochromic smart windows. A simple physical integration of lanthanide-doped strontium aluminium oxide (LdSAO) nanoparticles into recycled polyethylene (PE) waste produced a smart nanocomposite with persistent phosphorescence and photochromic properties. Because the nanoparticle form of LdSAO is important for developing transparent materials, LdSAO nanoparticles were well dispersed in the PE matrix. Both the morphologies and chemical compositions of the LdSAO nanoparticles and LdSAO-containing luminescent PE sheets were investigated. Both LdSAO-free and photoluminescent PE sheets were colourless in normal daylight. However the LdSAO-containing PE luminescent samples only exhibited a brilliant green colour under ultraviolet (UV) light and a greenish-yellow colour in the dark as verified by Commission Internationale de l'éclairage laboratory parameters. Both absorbance and emission bands were monitored at 377 and 436/517 nm, respectively. The LdSAO-containing PE luminescent sheets were compared with the LdSAO-free sample using both photoluminescence spectroscopy and for their mechanical properties and were found to have improved scratch resistance, UV protection, and superhydrophobic activity. Due to the added LdSAO, photoluminescence, decay, and lifetime spectral tests confirmed its photochromic fluorescence and long-lasting phosphorescence characteristics. The PE@LdSAO nanocomposite sheets displayed UV protection, photostability, hydrophobicity, and excellent durability compared with the blank LdSAO-free PE sheet.  相似文献

Forgery and low-quality products pose a danger to society. Therefore, there are increasing demands for the production of easy-to-recognize and difficult-to-copy anticounterfeiting materials. Products with smart photochromic and fluorescence properties can change colour and emission spectra responding to a light source. In this context, we devised a straightforward preparation of a luminescent polyvinyl alcohol/carboxymethyl cellulose (PVA/CMC) nanocomposite to function as a transparent labelling film. The lanthanide-doped aluminate (LdA) was prepared in the nanoparticle form to indicate diameters of 35–115 nm. Different ratios of the LdA were physically dispersed in the PVA/CMC nanocomposite label film to provide photochromic, ultraviolet protection, antimicrobial activity, and hydrophobic properties. Fluorescence peaks were detected at 365 and 519 nm to indicate a colour change to green. As a result of increasing the phosphor ratio, improved superhydrophobic activity was achieved as the contact angle was increased from 126.1° to 146.0° without affecting the film's original physical and mechanical properties. Both ultraviolet (UV) light protection and antibacterial activity were also investigated. The films showed a quick and reversible photochromic response without fatigue. The current strategy reported the development of a photochromic smart label that is transparent, cost effective, and flexible. As a result, numerous anticounterfeiting products can benefit from the current label for a better market. LdA-loaded PVA/CMC films demonstrated antibacterial activity between poor, good, very good, and outstanding as the percentage of LdA in the film matrix increased. The current film can be applied as a transparent photochromic security barcode for anticounterfeiting applications and smart packaging.  相似文献

Aflatoxins are potential food pollutants produced by fungi. One of important toxins is aflatoxin M1 (AFM1). A great deal of concern is associated with AFM1 toxicity. In the present study, an innovative electrochemical interface for quantitation of AFM1 based on ternary signal amplification strategy was fabricated. In this work, silver nanoparticles was electrodeposited onto green and biocompatible nanocomposite containing α‐cyclodextrin as conductive matrix and graphene quantum dots as amplification element. Therefore, a multilayer film based on α‐cyclodextrin, graphene quantum dots, and silver nanoparticles was exploited to develop a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for detection of AFM1. Fully electrochemical methodology was used to prepare a transducer on a glassy carbon electrode, which provided a high surface area toward sensitive detection of AFM1. The surface morphology of electrode surface was characterized by high‐resolution field emission scanning electron microscope. The proposed sensing platform provides a simple tool for AFM1 detection. Under optimized condition, the calibration curve for AFM1 concentration was linear in 0.015mM to 25mM with low limit of quantification of 2μM. The practical analytical utility of the modified electrode was illustrated by determination of AFM1 in unprocessed milk samples.  相似文献

Abstract

The adhesiveness and stability of ubiquitously distributed biofilms is a significant issue in many areas such as ecology, biotechnology and medicine. The magnetic particle induction (MagPI) system allows precise determinations of biofilm adhesiveness at high temporal and spatial resolution on the mesoscale. This paper concerns several technical aspects to further improve the performance of this powerful experimental approach and enhance the range of MagPI applications. First, several electromagnets were built to demonstrate the influence of material and geometry with special regard to core remanence and magnetic strength. Secondly, the driving force to lift up the particles was evaluated and it was shown that both the magnetic field strength and the magnetic field gradient are decisive in the physics of the MagPI approach. The intricate combination of these two quantities was demonstrated with separate experiments that add permanent magnets to the MagPI system.  相似文献

Advanced thermoelectric technologies can drastically improve energy efficiencies of industrial infrastructures, solar cells, automobiles, aircrafts, etc. When a thermoelectric device is used as a solid‐state heat pump and/or as a power generator, its efficiency depends pivotally on three fundamental transport properties of materials, namely, the thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and thermopower. The development of advanced thermoelectric materials is very challenging because these transport properties are interrelated. This paper reviews the physical mechanisms that have led to recent material advances. Progresses in both inorganic and organic materials are summarized. While the majority of the contemporary effort has been focused on lowering the lattice thermal conductivity, the latest development in nanocomposites suggests that properly engineered interfaces are crucial for realizing the energy filtering effect and improving the power factor. We expect that the nanocomposite approach could be the focus of future materials breakthroughs.  相似文献

The straightforward and inexpensive fabrication of stabilized and activated photoelectrodes for application to tandem photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is reported. Semiconductors such as Si, WO3, and BiVO4 can be coated with a composite layer formed upon hydrolytic decomposition of heterobimetallic single source precursors (SSPs) based on Ti and Ni, or Ti and Co in a simple single‐step process under ambient conditions. The resulting 3d‐transition metal oxide composite films are multifunctional, as they protect the semiconductor electrode from corrosion with an amorphous TiO2 coating and act as bifunctional electrocatalysts for H2 and O2 evolution based on catalytic Ni or Co species. Thus, this approach enables the use of the same precursors for both photoelectrodes in tandem PEC water splitting, and SSP chemistry is thereby established as a highly versatile low‐cost approach to protect and activate photoelectrodes. In an optimized system, SSP coating of a Si photocathode and a BiVO4 photoanode resulted in a benchmark noble metal‐free dual‐photoelectrode tandem PEC cell for overall solar water splitting with an applied bias solar‐to‐hydrogen conversion efficiency of 0.59% and a half‐life photostability of 5 h.  相似文献

Highly luminescent, polymer nanocomposite films based on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), and monodispersed carbon dots (C‐dots) derived from multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), as coatings on substrates as well as free standing ones are obtained via solution‐based techniques. The synthesized films exhibit pH‐independent photoluminescence (PL) emission, which is an advantageous property compared with the pH‐dependent photoluminescence intensity variations, generally observed for the C‐dots dispersed in aqueous solution. The synthesized C‐dots and the nanocomposite films are characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra‐red spectroscopy ( FTIR), ultraviolet (UV) ? visible spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL) techniques. The TEM image provides clear evidence for the formation of C‐dots of almost uniform shape and average size of about 8 nm, homogeneously dispersed in aqueous medium. The strong anchoring of C‐dots within the polymer matrix can be confirmed from the XRD results. The FTIR spectral studies conclusively establish the presence of oxygen functional groups on the surfaces of the C‐dots. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of the nanocomposite films are broad, covering most part of the visible region. The PL spectra do not show any luminescence intensity variations, when the pH of the medium is changed from 1 to 11. The pH‐independent luminescence, shown by these films offers ample scope for using them as coatings for designing diagnostic and imaging tools in bio medical applications. The non‐toxic nature of these nanocomposite films has been established on the basis of cytotoxicity studies.  相似文献
