Influence of humic substances on bioavailability of Cu and Zn during sewage sludge composting 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Influence of humic substances (HS) on bioavailability of Cu and Zn was characterized during 120 days co-composting of sewage sludge and maize straw. At the initial stage of composting, Cu and Zn in sewage sludge were released as organic matter was degraded, and water soluble Cu and Zn increased markedly. Water soluble Cu and FA content decreased after 21 days whereas water soluble Zn increased during the whole process. Both HA-Cu and HA-Zn were significantly and positively correlated with HA and H/F, respectively. At the end of composting, the distribution coefficients of HA-Cu and HA-Zn reached 27.50% and 3.33% respectively with HA-Cu/HA-Zn ratio increased from 1.29 to 2.73. The results suggest that Cu combined with HA more strongly than Zn, and composting treatment could decrease bioavailability of Cu markedly. 相似文献

The effect of electrodialytic treatment in terms of a current density, pH and Na2H2EDTA addition on the methanogenic activity of copper-amended anaerobic granular sludge taken from the UASB reactor from paper mill was evaluated. Moreover, the specific energy consumption and simplified operational and treatment costs were calculated. Addition of Na2H2EDTA (at pH 7.7) to copper-amended sludge resulted in the highest microbial activity (62 mg CH4-COD g VSS−1 day−1) suggesting that Na2H2EDTA decreased the toxic effects of copper on the methanogenic activity of the anaerobic granular sludge. The highest methane production (159 %) was also observed upon Na2H2EDTA addition and simultaneous electricity application (pH 7.7). The energy consumption during the treatment was 560, 840, 1400 and 1680 kW h m−3 at current densities of 0.23, 0.34, 0.57 and 0.69 mA cm−2, respectively. This corresponded to a treatment costs in terms of electricity expenditure from 39.2 to 117.6 € per cubic meter of sludge. 相似文献

城市污泥处理是一项世界性难题,污泥农业利用是其最简单有效的资源化利用方式之一,但污泥中较高的重金属含量限制了其实际推广应用,利用蚯蚓-超富集植物联合修复污泥重金属的方法已引起国内外研究者的关注。以新鲜城市脱水污泥为研究对象,接种赤子爱胜蚓(Eisenia fetida)进行室内培养试验,系统研究蚯蚓作用下污泥重金属形态的变化,及其与污泥氧化还原条件、化学和微生物性质变化的关系,以期为蚯蚓-超富集植物联合修复技术在污泥重金属处理中的应用提供理论依据。结果表明,试验前期蚯蚓在污泥中能正常生长和存活,前20 d总生物量增加了52%。蚯蚓可以显著促进污泥中的Cu、Zn、Cd、Ni等重金属从残渣态和铁锰态等稳定形态向交换态和水溶态等有效形态转化。还可以显著降低污泥中还原性物质的含量,减缓p H值下降速度,降低总有机碳含量,促进铵态氮向硝态氮转化,减少污泥微生物的数量并增加其种群活性。蚯蚓作用下,污泥中重金属的活化程度与还原性物质的含量呈显著负相关,而与微生物种群的活性呈显著正相关(P0.05)。综上所述,蚯蚓可以促进污泥重金属的活化,并改善污泥的肥力条件,为修复植物在污泥中的正常生长和对重金属离子的快速吸收提供有利条件。 相似文献

Abstract: Ciliated protozoa present in ten activated sludge plants at Madrid (Spain) were identified. The abundance of key groups of ciliates was determined at each plant; attached ciliates made up the most abundant and representative group. Multivariate statistical analysis was employed to study relationships between ciliates and both the physico-chemical and operational parameters of the plants. Partial correlation analysis revealed: (1) The indicator value of attached ciliates in assessing management and performance of the activated sludge process, (2) the relationship of swimming ciliates with short-aged sludges and lower quality effluents and (3) the direct association between swimming-crawling ciliates and bad settlement conditions of the sludge. Factor analysis showed the associations of the most frequent species of ciliates with the operational parameters of the plants, suggesting the indicator value of some of the species: Vorticella striata was related with poor quality of effluent; Aspidisca cicada with stable plant conditions, and Litonotus lamella with a deficiently settling sludge. 相似文献

Three pretreatment methods were compared based on their ability to increase the extent and rate of anaerobic bioconversion of pulp mill secondary sludge to biogas. The pretreatment technologies used in these experiments were: (i) thermal pretreatment performed at 170 °C; (ii) thermochemical (caustic) pretreatment performed at pH 12 and 140 °C; and (iii) sonication performed at 20 kHz and 1 W mL−1. Sludge samples were obtained from a sulfite and a kraft pulp mill, and biochemical methane potential (BMP) assays were performed using microbial granules obtained from a high-rate anaerobic digester operating at a pulp mill. Biogas production from untreated sludge was 0.05 mL mg−1 of measured chemical oxygen demand (COD) and 0.20 mL mg−1 COD for kraft and sulfite sludge, respectively. Thermal pretreatment had the highest impact on sludge biodegradability. In this case, biogas yield and production rate from sulfite sludge increased by 50% and 10 times, respectively, while biogas yield and production rate from kraft sludge increased by 280% and 300 times, respectively. The present work developed a novel technique to treat chromite ore processing residue (COPR). The process involved mixing the COPR with sewage sludge followed by pyrolysis. The gaseous organic fraction generated during pyrolysis of sludge was beneficial to Cr(VI) reduction. Process variables, such as the amount of sludge added to COPR (sludge-to-COPR (S/C) ratio), heating temperature, reaction time and particle size, were systematically varied, and their influences on the Cr(VI) reduction in COPR were investigated. Cost effective bioprocessing of nutraceuticals in present global scenario is a matter of concern. This study explored Paper mill sludge (PMS) and sugarcane bagasse (SCB) as inexpensive substrate for Planococcus sp. TRC1 mediated valuable β-carotene production and residual treated biomass as value added crystalline cellulose source simultaneously. Both biomass supported significant bacterial growth reaching highest yield 38.54 ± 1.4 mg/g on PMS (36 h) and 47.13 ± 1.9 mg/g (48 h) on SCB in solid state fermentation. Luedeking-Piret model revealed growth associated production with α and much lower β values of 5.18 and 0.24 for PMS and 4.5 and 0.165 for SCB. Cost analysis exhibited decrementation of pigment cost/mg by 84 % compared to synthetic media. Optimum production conditions were 30 °C temperature, pH 7, 10 % inoculum and initial moisture content 80 % (PMS) and 85 % (SCB). TLC (Rf = 0.9), HPLC (RT = 7.646) and lambda max (465 nm) confirmed pigment’s β-carotene nature with significant antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. It showed stability at varied temperature, pH and light conditions along with negligible phytotoxicity on Vigna radiata. Planococcus sp. TRC1 delignified PMS (41 %) and SCB (38 %) and FT-IR, FESEM and XRD suggested crystalline nature of residual cellulose rich fraction shedding light on a biorefinery approach for valorization of industrial solid wastes. 相似文献

Aims: Transmission routes of noroviruses, leading aetiological agents of acute gastroenteritis, are rarely verified when outbreaks occur. Because the destination of norovirus particles being firmly captured by micro‐organisms could be totally different from that of those particles moving freely, micro‐organisms with natural affinity ligands such as virus‐binding proteins would affect the fate of viruses in environment, if such microbial affinity ligands exist. The aim of this study is to identify norovirus‐binding proteins (NoVBPs) that are presumably working as natural ligands for norovirus particles in water environments. Methods and Results: NoVBPs were recovered from activated sludge micro‐organisms by an affinity chromatography technique in which a capsid peptide of norovirus genogroup II (GII) was immobilized. The recovered NoVBPs bind to norovirus‐like particles (NoVLPs) of norovirus GII, and this adsorption was stronger than that to NoVLPs of norovirus genogroup I. The profile of two‐dimensional electrophoresis of NoVBPs showed that the recovered NoVBPs included at least seven spots of protein. The determination of N‐terminal amino acid sequences of these NoVBPs revealed that hydrophobic interactions could contribute to the adsorption between NoVBPs and norovirus particles. Conclusions: NoVBPs conferring a high affinity to norovirus GII were successfully isolated from activated sludge micro‐organisms. Summary In this investigation, ammonium hydroxide and acetic acid were used as pH control agents during Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) fermentation in a pilot scale fermentor (150-l) employing two secondary wastewater sludges from two different wastewater
treatment plants (CUQS and JQS) and semi-synthetic soybean meal medium as raw materials. Regardless of the cultivation medium,
a substantial increase in total cell count, spore count, protease activity and entomotoxicity was achieved when the pH of
the culture was controlled using NH4OH/CH3COOH. At harvest, total cell count increased by almost 17%, 33% and 25%; protease activity was enhanced by 12%, 33% and 53%
and maximal spore count augmented by almost 28%, 48% and 33% in CUQS, JQS and soybean medium, respectively. Entomotoxicity
potency was improved by 22%, 21% and 14% in CUQS, JQS and soybean medium, respectively compared to results obtained with NaOH/H2SO4 as pH control agents. A higher entomotoxicity was also observed using sludge compared to the soybean medium. This improvement
of the Bt process performance was a consequence of the addition of rapidly utilizable carbon and nitrogen source through pH
