The objective of this work was to analyse the distribution of the planktonic communities involved in the functioning of a
255-km river stretch and to get a better understanding of the influence of the river morphology on the diversity and dynamics
of the micro-organisms. The planktonic communities (phytoplankton, bacterioplankton, proto- and metazooplankton) scarcely
considered together in fluvial systems, were analysed at four sites of the Middle Loire during the low water period, in parallel
to physical and chemical analyses. Physical and chemical variables such as turbidity, pH, suspended matter and chlorophyll
a concentration were high, illustrating the classical, productive summer period. The algae played a major role in the water
oxygenation until end-summer, then the algal drop concomitant to the bacterial sustained abundance appeared responsible for
oxygen depletion. The downstream site enriched by nutrients inputs of two tributaries, carried the highest algal and bacterial
densities. Situated in a meanders zone, the Middle Loire is characterised by a high habitat heterogeneity, the up- and downstream
sites were wide and spread of vast standing zones and vegetated islands, whereas the two intermediate ones were narrower and
more uniform. This morphological variability strongly impacted the micro-organisms diversity and distribution. Indeed, the
algae and zooplankton composition were clearly influenced by the physical habitats of the river, the Cyanophyta were favoured
by the lentic conditions and the Bacillariophyta by the turbulent ones, while the young stage of copepod and the large rotifer
predators were indicator of a lentic origin. Thereafter, the river heterogeneity interfered with the zooplankton dynamics,
the standing conditions enhancing the rotifer predation. In that way, we hypothesise that two opposite patterns characterised
the wide sites spread of lentic water and the more uniform channels. In the first case, the zooplankton could prey on the
ciliates protozoan, which in return favoured the flagellate ones; conversely in the second situation the zooplankton limited
by the physical constraints did not impact the ciliates which could depress the flagellates. Thus, the similar geomorphology
of the distant upstream and downstream sites (255-km apart) induced relatively close organisms distribution. Hence, disagreeing
with the river continuum concept, this assertion shows the strong influence played by the local morphological characteristics
of the Middle Loire in potamoplankton composition and dynamics. 相似文献

Assuming that heterotrophic flagellates (H.F.) can sustain cladoceran life cycles, particularly at periods of low food and high detritus conditions, the growth, reproduction and life span of Daphnia longispinawere studied under conditions of summer food limitation. They were fed both natural resources and natural food enriched with a culture of the colourless Chilomonas (ovoid cell, 8 × 25 m). Four H.F. morphotypes occurred in the natural water and the first experiments with Daphnia, showed that the cladoceran would most easily ingest those of 5 m–10 m, while the addition of Chilomonas severely depressed the H.F. of 2 m. The capability of this flagellate to ingest small H.F. was confirmed using fluorescent particles ranging from 0.94 to 3.95 m. As a consequence, Daphnia could control the abundance of H.F., but also compete with the largest morphotypes. To study the influence of the H.F. on the life span of Daphnia, the cladoceran was acclimated for two generations, before the start of the experiments. In semi-natural conditions, constant temperature, without predators and fed natural water, the summer daphnids achieved smaller sizes, produced fewer offspring and lived for a shorter time than when Chilomonas was added to their diet. Despite the addition of 560 g C l-1, this was not sufficient to enhance the Daphnia reproduction to the level of the spring population fed natural water. These results clearly illustrate that the heterotrophic flagellates contributed significantly to improving the reproduction and survival of the daphnids. They emphasise the importance of the microbial loop as a link to larger consumers, particularly when unpalatable or nutritionally inadequate algae are dominant, which is often so in lakes during summer. 相似文献

畜禽屠宰加工、鱼粉饲料加工等一些食品工业生产过程中会释放出大量的硫化氢恶臭气体,导致周边环境的严重污染。为实现以培养异养型细菌脱除硫化氢气体的目的,取分离到的异养脱硫细菌XJ-2,通过诱变筛选得到一株高效脱硫菌株ZJNB-B3,其脱硫率达97%。基于形态学研究、API 50 CHB生理生化鉴定及16S r RNA基因测序,鉴定该菌为蜡状芽胞杆菌Bacillus cereus ZJNB-B3。该菌Gen Bank登录号为MF679650。降解特性研究表明,ZJNB-B3菌株对有毒的硫化物有较高耐受性,耐受上限高达300 mg/L。采用响应面法优化环境因素对菌株降解硫化物效率的影响,得到在最适培养温度30℃下,初始S~2–浓度为211.8 mg/L、初始p H值6.72、接种量为5.04%时,菌株氧化脱硫效果最显著,经过实测在48 h产生的硫酸盐浓度为63.8 mg/L,脱硫率达97.3%。菌株在氧化硫化物时不会产生硫酸抑制菌株的生长,可以在p H值温和的环境条件下脱硫,因此,该菌有较高的工业应用价值。本研究为异养型细菌应用于工业反应器脱除硫化氢恶臭气体提供了小试研究基础。 相似文献

The mixotroph Yihiella yeosuensis is a small‐ and fast‐swimming dinoflagellate. To investigate its protistan predators, interactions between Y. yeosuensis and 11 heterotrophic protists were explored. No potential predators were able to feed on actively swimming Y. yeosuensis cells, which escaped via rapid jumps, whereas Aduncodinium glandula, Oxyrrhis marina, and Strombidinopsis sp. (approximately 150 μm in cell length) were able to feed on weakly swimming cells that could not jump. Furthermore, Gyrodinium dominans, Luciella masanensis, and Pfiesteria piscicida were able to feed on heat‐killed Yihiella cells, whereas Gyrodinium moestrupii, Noctiluca scintillans, Oblea rotunda, Polykrikos kofoidii, and Strombidium sp. (20 μm) did not feed on them. Thus, the jumping behavior of Y. yeosuensis might be primarily responsible for the observed lack of predation. With increasing Yihiella concentration, the growth rate of O. marina decreased, whereas that of Strombidinopsis did not change. However, with increasing Yihiella concentration (up to 530 ng C/ml), the ingestion rate of Strombidinopsis on Yihiella increased linearly. The highest ingestion rate was 24.1 ng C per predator per d. The low daily carbon acquisition from Yihiella relative to the body carbon content of Strombidinopsis might be responsible for its negligible growth. Utilization of microbial oil for biodiesel production has gained growing interest due to the increase in prices and the shortage of the oils and fats traditionally used in biodiesel production. However, it is still in the laboratory study stage due to the high cost of production. Employing organic wastes as raw materials to grow heterotrophic oleaginous microorganisms for further lipid production to produce biodiesel has been predicted to be a promising method for reducing costs. However, there are many obstacles including the low biodegradability of organic wastes, low lipid accumulation capacity of heterotrophic oleaginous microorganisms while using organic wastes, a great dependence on a high-energy consumption approach for biomass harvesting, utilization of toxic organic solvents for lipid extraction, and large amount of methanol required in trans-esterification and in-situ trans-esterifications. Ultra-sonication as a green technology has been extensively utilized to enhance bio-product production from organic wastes. In this article, ultra-sonication applications in biodiesel production steps with heterotrophic oleaginous microorganisms have been reviewed, and its impact, potential, and limitations on the process have been discussed. 相似文献

A hemiparasite in the forest understorey: photosynthetic performance and carbon balance of Melampyrum pratense 下载免费PDF全文
- Melampyrum pratense is an annual root‐hemiparasitic plant growing mostly in forest understorey, an environment with unstable light conditions. While photosynthetic responses of autotrophic plants to variable light conditions are in general well understood, light responses of root hemiparasites have not been investigated.
- We carried out gas exchange measurements (light response and photosynthetic induction curves) to assess the photosynthetic performance of M. pratense in spring and summer. These data and recorded light dynamics data were subsequently used to model carbon balance of the hemiparasite throughout the entire growth season.
- Summer leaves had significantly lower rates of saturated photosynthesis and dark respiration than spring leaves, a pattern expected to reflect the difference between sun‐ and shade‐adapted leaves. However, even the summer leaves of the hemiparasite exhibited a higher rate of light‐saturated photosynthesis than reported in non‐parasitic understorey herbs. This is likely related to its annual life history, rare among other understorey herbs. The carbon balance model considering photosynthetic induction still indicated insufficient autotrophic carbon gain for seed production in the summer months due to limited light availability and substantial carbon loss through dark respiration.
- The results point to potentially high importance of heterotrophic carbon acquisition in M. pratense, which could be of at least comparable importance as in other mixotrophic plants growing in forests – mistletoes and partial mycoheterotrophs. It is remarkable that despite apparent evolutionary pressure towards improved carbon acquisition from the host, M. pratense retains efficient photosynthesis and high transpiration rate, the ecophysiological traits typical of related root hemiparasites in the Orobanchaceae.

Production of NO and N 2 O by the heterotrophic nitrifier Alcaligenes faecalis subsp. parafaecalis was studied during growth in batch and continuous culture on peptone-meat extract medium. Depending on oxygen saturation level, medium redox status and amount of substrate supplied, the microorganisms produced 0.002–0.25 mg NO-N h- 1 (g protein)- 1 and 0.16–2.4 mg N 2 O-N h- 1 (g protein)- 1 . Maximum rates of nitrogen oxides production were observed during peak events initiated by sudden changes of oxygen supply in the medium and were due to combined nitrification/denitrification taking place simultaneously within the cells. Based on model simulations of enzymatic kinetics of denitrification, possible mechanisms of increased nitrogen oxides production during periods of changes in oxygen supply are suggested. 相似文献

A new heterotrophic armoured dinoflagellate is described from sand habitats in eastern Australia. Cabra matta gen. nov., sp. nov., lacks plastids and an eyespot. The thecal plate formula is Po 4′ 4” ‘x’ 3c ?s 5′′’ 1′′”. Its plate pattern differs from all currently described dinoflagellate genera, but is most similar to the genus Roscoffia. Cabra matta shows some similarity to species currently placed in the family Podolampaceae, however its evolutionary affinities and hence its position within the dinoflagellate systematic hierarchy remain unresolved. 相似文献

土壤异养呼吸是陆地和大气之间的重要通量,是决定陆地生态系统碳源汇的关键因素之一,与气候变化紧密相关。西南高山地区是响应气候变化的重点区域,研究西南高山地区土壤异养呼吸动态及其对气候变化的响应,对于评估区域碳循环对全球气候变化的贡献具有重要意义。应用生态系统模型(CEVSA)模型估算了1954-2010年西南高山地区土壤异养呼吸(HR)的时空变化,分析了其对气候变化的响应。结果表明:(1)西南高山地区1954-2010年平均异养呼吸量为422 g C·m-2·a-1,在空间分布上,HR自东南向西北递减,与年平均温度(r=0.721,P<0.01)、年降水量(r=0.564,P<0.01)均显著正相关;(2)在时间尺度上,西南高山地区1954-2010年 HR总量增加趋势显著(P<0.05),变化范围为197-251 Tg C/a,平均每年增加0.710 Tg C,其中主要植被类型草地、常绿针叶林和常绿阔叶林均增加趋势显著(P<0.01),增加速度分别为1.621、1.496和1.055 g C·m-2·a-2。(3)土壤HR的年际变化主要受温度影响,且西北部高海拔地区较东南部低海拔对温度变化更为敏感,主要植被类型温度敏感系数Q10从大到小依次为草地(2.35)、常绿针叶林(2.34)、常绿阔叶林(1.93)。 相似文献
