Sullivantia species were found to produce quercetin 3-O-glycosides, several of which contain glucuronic acid, as well as pedalitin (6-hydroxy-7-O-methyl luteolin), pedalitin 6-O-glycosides, and small amounts of luteolin. Sullivantia has a unique combination of compounds that distinguishes it from other genera in the Saxifraginae for which flavonoid data are available. The nature of the flavonoid compounds is in accordance with a general trend within the Saxifragaceae of reduction and replacement of flavonols by flavones.  相似文献

Three new geranylated flavonoids, including two geranylflavones (1, 2) and one geranylflavonol (3), named as paucatalinone C–E, were isolated from the fruit peel of P. catalpifolia T. Gong ex D.Y. Hong. Their structures were determined by means of UV, IR, MS, and NMR techniques. To our known, geranylflavone or geranylflavonol was the first isolation from the genus Paulownia. These isolated geranylated flavonoids displayed good antioxidant effects on DPPH and the senescent human embryonic lung diploid fibroblasts cells (2BS cells) induced by H2O2. The geranyl substituent may be an important factor for the cellular radical-scavenging effect because of its lipophilic character.  相似文献

Ombuin (7,4′-dimethyl quercetin) (10 μg ml-1, for 12 wk), glycyrrhizin/quercetin (80 μg ml-1and 10 μg ml-1respectively, for 18 wk), ribavirin (10 μg ml-1, for 12 wk) and quercetin/ribavirin (10 μg ml-1each, for 9–12 wk) reduced the titre of apple stem grooving virus (ASGV) when applied in vitro to infected tissue cultures of Nicotiana occidentalis obliqua Wheeler, and/or Malus domestica. ASGV was not detectable in both plant species after the quercitin/ribavirin treatment when tested by ISEM, herbaceous host indexing, RT-PCR, and immunocapture RT-PCR. A sensitive immunocapture RT-PCR procedure for the detection of ASGV was developed for the screening of treated samples to assess antiviral activity.  相似文献

The Cecropia genus is widely distributed in Latin America including at least 60 species, and some of them are commonly used in traditional medicine for the treatment of several diseases. We used Cecropia pachystachya Trécul to search for quorum sensing (QS) inhibitors compounds and found that the aqueous extract of C. pachystachya leaves is a promising source of substances with this activity. Using as biosensor Chromobacterium violaceum ATCC 31532 and Escherichia coli pSB403, the compounds chlorogenic acid (2), isoorientin (3), orientin (4), isovitexin (6), vitexin (7), and rutin (9) were identified as QS inhibitors. None of these compounds inhibited the growth of neither the used biosensors nor the microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 23591, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, used here as growth inhibition controls. Along with the rutin, here we presented for the first time the QS-inhibition potential of the C-glycosyl flavonoids. The prospective of this evidence lead to the use of these compounds as antipathogenic drugs or antifoulants.  相似文献

Recent studies have improved the infrageneric classification ofRhododendron, including my own investigations on flavonoids and anthocyanins as chemosystematic markers. From a synoptical comparison of morphological, anatomical and phytochemical characters a new system for the genus is proposed. Phylogenetic character progressions and relationships among subgenera, sections and subsections are discussed and illustrated. Key positions for subg.Candidastrum between chori subgenerumRhododendron andNomazalea, and for subg.Choniastrum between chori subgenerumHymenanthes andNomazalea are suggested.  相似文献

The distribution of excreted flavonoid aglycones within the familyLabiatae was studied and differences were found, especially in the A-ring substitution patterns. Thus, 5,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxyflavones with substituted B-rings are characteristic of species ofSalvia (sect.Salvia),Rosmarinus andOcimum; 5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-dimethoxyflavones occur only inOcimum and 5,6-dihydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavones inThymus and related species. Members of the two subfamiliesLamioideae andNepetoideae produce exudate flavonoids, but some genera are devoid of these compounds. There is a correlation between the habitat where the plant grows and production of these compounds, the species from (semi-)arid habitats being those which generally accumulate external flavonoids.  相似文献

Pelargonium otaviense Knuth andP. spinosum Willd. are excluded from sect.Glaucophyllum, whileP. grandiflorum (Andr.)Willd.,P. patulum Jacq. andP. tabulare (Burm. f.)L'Hérit. of sect.Eumorpha are included. Sect.Glaucophyllum is characterized by green to glaucous vegetative organs and zygomorphic white to pink corolla with five narrow petals. All the species have an identical pollen and chromosome morphology, the same basic chromosome number (x = 11) and similar flavonoid patterns. A close relationship between sect.Glaucophyllum and sect.Pelargonium is indicated by the occurrence of natural hybrids and concordant characters. Isorhamnetin and luteolin have been detected in the genus for the first time.  相似文献

Recognition of two different species in the liverwort genusMonoclea Hook. (monotypic orderMonocleales), viz.M. forsteri Hook. in New Zealand andM. gottschei Lindb. in the New World, is supported by characteristics of the sporophyte, antheridial receptacle and secondary metabolites.M. gottschei produces the greatest variety of flavonoids and the largest amount of bisbibenzyls ever encountered in a liverwort. In contrast,M. forsteri is poor in secondary metabolites. Two allopatric subspecies are recognized inM. gottschei, based on characteristics of the antheridial receptacle: subsp.gottschei in Chile (Valdivian region, Juan Fernandez Is.) and subsp.elongata Gradst. & Mues, subsp. nova, in tropical America. The exclusive occurrence inMonoclea of glucuronide and galacturonide flavone glycosides and the fact that capsule dehiscence may take place before full elongation of the seta are new arguments in support of the placement ofMonocleales in theMarchantiidae. The origin ofEchinocereus ×lloydii Britt. & Rose, pro sp. (Lloyd's Hedgehog Cactus) was investigated using comparative morphology, cytology, biochemistry, and particularly, artificial hybridization. Numerous artificial crosses between the putative parentsE. coccineus Engelm. (a species of claret-up cactus) andE. dasyacanthus Engelm. (Texas Rainbow Cactus) were successful, resulting in the production of hundreds of seeds with hybrid embryos. The F1 hybrid progeny (i.e., syntheticE. ×lloydii) grew to sexual maturity in about four and one-half years, whereupon successful backcrosses and F2 generation hybrids were also obtained. The known F1 hybrids closely approximated naturalE. ×lloydii. The fertility of these syntheticE. ×lloydii was high, like their natural counterparts. The populations ofE. ×lloydii in Pecos County, Texas are inferred to have originated as the result of natural interspecific hybridization. It is assumed thatE. ×lloydii or similar plants may arise wherever the parental taxa grow sympatrically.  相似文献

A relation between gene dosage and UDP-glucose:flavonoid 3-O-glucosyl-transferase (UFGT) activity was found in homozygous dominant and recessive parental lines and their F1 progeny for both of the genes An1 and An2. In both F2 crosses, progeny plants could be classified as belonging to groups showing either a low or a medium to high UFGT activity. Test crosses showed that heterozygous and homozygous dominant plants were present throughout the medium- to high-active group. The dosage relation in F2 plants is most probably confounded by the segregation of modifiers. Thermal inactivation experiments indicated that structurally different UFGT enzymes are formed in homozygous dominant lines as well as in lines homozygous recessive for either An1 or An2. Lines homozygous recessive for the gene An4 contain a UFGT with a half-life time at 55° C of less than 8 min, whereas UFGTs from lines homozygous dominant for An4 show a half-life time of 25 min or above, with one exception. This relation was confirmed in the F2 progeny; heterozygotes for An4 showed an intermediate half-life time. It is concluded that An4 might be the structural gene for the enzyme; An1 and An2 are both regulatory genes. UFGT activity in flowerbuds of An4/An4 plants seems to be lower than in an4/an4 plants. Anthers of flowers of an4/an4 lines, however, are virtually devoid of UFGT activity.  相似文献
