从宏观上和特殊性对珠江口4大口门虎门、蕉门、洪奇沥、横门及近滩为主的近岸水域进行浮游藻类发生与关键水质因子关联的研究,关键因子包括溶解氧(DO)、活性磷(PO 3-4-P)、硝酸盐(NO-3-N),得出二者间确有关联.藻类生长与DO为正相关 ,与活性磷为正相关,与硝酸盐为负相关.  相似文献

1. Ants may select their food in response to nutritional needs of the colony and forage in a way that optimises a complementary nutrition. Even though resource availability is known to affect ant colony and individual health, there is still no study that has investigated the plastic preferences of ants according to spatial resource availability in naturally heterogeneous conditions. 2. Beaches are great biomes to test spatial foraging preference because a complete absence of nectaries can be found. Dorymyrmex nigra Pergande 1896 was found inhabiting a beach in southeastern Brazil, in which nectar sources are heterogeneously distributed. This study tested whether the foraging preference to sugar baits depended on the availability of nectar sources surrounding the nests. 3. We found that more D. nigra workers foraged on sugar baits when the colonies lacked naturally occurring nectar in their vicinity compared with colonies with abundant nectar nearby. 4. These results show that the foraging preference of ants depends upon resource availability. This is the first study to use a natural mosaic of resource availability to show that resource preference of ants is plastic and varies spatially.  相似文献

【目的】耐药基因细菌水平基因转移导致的耐药菌数量增加引发的公共安全问题日益引起人们关注,监测环境中耐药菌变得极为重要。【方法】采集湛江3处滨海浴场的水体、沙滩土样,通过平板稀释涂布和琼脂扩散法进行浴场微生物数量、多样性和抗生素耐药性分析。【结果】3处浴场水体无机氮含量偏高,浴场微生物数量随着客流量逐渐增加,沙滩中微生物数量显著高于水体。浴场细菌分布于3门12科18属,水体中变形菌门(Proteobacteria,49.64%)占优势,沙滩则是厚壁菌门(Firmicutes,54.74%)占优势。浴场细菌对β-内酰胺类耐药率较高,青霉素、万古霉素和头孢曲松耐药率分别达到23.25%、20.53%和17.42%,耐药菌株主要分布于芽孢杆菌属(Bacillus)、弧菌属(Vibrio)、假单胞菌属(Pseudomonas)、链霉菌属(Streptomyces)和肠杆菌属(Enterobacter),水体中多重耐药细菌数量显著高于沙滩,集中于人流量多的浴场。【结论】滨海浴场环境中细菌耐药菌种类多,需持续监测以评估对当前地区公共卫生的潜在影响。  相似文献

Low hatching success may limit progress towards reaching productivity goals for Atlantic Coast piping plover (Charadrius melodus) recovery, despite management strategies to protect eggs from predators and decrease human disturbance of birds on nests. We measured piping plover hatching success on Eastern Long Island beaches and identified the major causes of egg failure to better understand why eggs that were otherwise intact (not depredated or destroyed by tidal flooding) failed to hatch. We documented egg and nest fates, dissected contents of unhatched eggs to determine viability, and recorded human and predator activity near a subset of plover nests on Suffolk County Parks properties. The low hatching success we recorded (0.60) in 2006 and 2007 would require higher chick survival rates than are typically observed for piping plovers to meet recovery targets for productivity. Few eggs showed signs of poor viability and overall egg hatchability was comparable to other ground nesting birds. Most egg failure was due to either depredation at unexclosed nests or nest abandonment by adults. The best predictor of nest abandonment was the maximum number of red fox tracks (Vulpes vulpes) counted on nearby transects (β = −1.16, 95% CI: −2.0 to −0.3) and we found evidence that plovers abandoned eggs in response to predation risk (e.g., a fox circling a nest exclosure). Adults from abandoned nests may have deserted eggs or been depredated. In either case, intact and viable eggs were abandoned. Nest abandonment was not related to human activity near nests, which were buffered from human disturbance by symbolic string fencing. Our results suggest that depredation and nest abandonment (e.g., desertion or death of adults) due to predator disturbance, not human disturbance or poor egg viability, contributed to the low hatching success we recorded. Active predator removal in addition to modification of predator exclosure use and design may be necessary to prevent direct (egg depredation) and indirect (nest abandonment) negative effects of predators on hatching success. © 2010 The Wildlife Society.  相似文献

Question: What is the relative importance of national‐, regional‐ and within‐beach‐scale influences on vegetation composition and floristic affinities of New Zealand gravel beaches? Location: Coastal New Zealand. Methods: We sampled vegetation composition at 61 gravel beaches, quantifying site factors and adjacent landscape characteristics. Site, climate and geographic relationships between gravel beaches and related ecosystems were inferred using GIS data layers. To simultaneously investigate influences at different spatial scales, we used ordination and variation partitioning to examine relationships between composition and environment, and hierarchical models to understand floristic affinities with related ecosystems. Results: At a national scale, compositional variation among beaches reflects mean annual temperature and spring vapour pressure deficit; within regions, proximity of native woody vegetation and coastal turfs are important; within‐beach variation is related to substrate stability and particle size distribution. The gravel beach flora is 50% exotic, reflecting the highly modified nearby landscapes; 30% of species are characteristic of coastal sands, 20% of braided riverbeds and 8% of coastal turfs. Affinities with coastal sand communities are unrelated to microsite sandiness or area of sand dunes within 50 km. Affinities with braided riverbeds are related to the bed area of those rivers draining within 200 km and proportion of gravel in the substrate. Affinities with coastal turfs are related to proximity to the nearest turf and the proportion of humus in the substrate. Conclusions: Examining multiple scales of influence in a landscape context is essential to understand composition of naturally discrete ecosystems that span wide geographic ranges and to underpin their conservation management.  相似文献

The animals from the environments focused on here share the same navigational mechanisms with terrestrial animals. However, some of them seem to rely on additional ways of detecting and/or processing navigational cues, some of which are perhaps still unknown. A classification of the mechanisms of navigation is given. This is based on the source of information that animals use to head for their targets. A selected series of phenomena of current interest is presented, starting with olfactory beaconing in oceanic birds, which allows the detection of patchily distributed food and productive areas from long distances. Animals of sandy beaches rely on an array of mechanisms of orientation, which have an adaptive value for their ecotonal system. As some species are capable of using both the moon and sun compass in orientation, attention and experiments are focused on the significance of these celestial cues in the navigational process. Two clocks of different periods, one of which would appear to regulate both the activity rhythm and the sun compass, are presumed to underlie the two compass mechanisms. The feats of global navigators in and over the oceans are especially puzzling considering their ability of homing to the natal and nesting sites after long lasting, extended wandering in the open ocean, and of pinpointing tiny, isolated oceanic islands. The existent literature allows comparison of the navigational capabilities of oceanic birds with those of sea turtles. Their performances in natural conditions seem to be similar, but sea turtles exhibit a reduced capacity of compensation for experimental relocation. Capacity of positioning based on geomagnetic parameters has been indicated for sea turtles through laboratory experiments, but this is not confirmed by the routes of magnetically disturbed turtles tracked while migrating or attempting to compensate for relocation. The damage caused by some invertebrates to the eggs and hatchlings of loggerhead turtles, Caretta caretta, was investigated during the summer of 2002 on Dalaman beach, Turkey. The specimens, identified to family or genus levels, from nine families representing seven orders were recorded as infesting nests of loggerhead turtles. The heaviest impacts on loggerhead turtle nests was made by Pimelia sp. (Tenebrionidae, Coleoptera). Twenty-four (36.3%) out of 66 intact loggerhead hatched nests were affected by these larvae. Larval damage by Pimelia sp. was recorded in 188 (10.6%) out of 1773 eggs, but only in two (0.28%) hatchlings. The results show that fewer insects were in the nest the further from vegetation and therefore the relocation of nests from the water's edge to further inland close to vegetation may increase the infestation rate of the eggs.  相似文献

Spatially separated ecosystems are often linked by nutrient fluxes. Nutrient inputs may be transferred by physical vectors (i.e., wind and water) or by biotic vectors. In this study, we examine the role of green turtles (Chelonia mydas) as biotic transporters of nutrients from marine to terrestrial ecosystems, where they deposit eggs. We compare low and high nest density sites at Tortuguero, Costa Rica, the largest green turtle rookery in the western hemisphere. Four plant species (Costus woodsonii, Hibiscus pernanbucensis, Hymenocallis littoralis, Ipomoea pes‐caprae) were analyzed at both nest density sites for 15N, total carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus, and vegetation cover. Sand was analyzed for 15N and total nitrogen. Vegetation at high nest density sites had higher total nitrogen, which was correlated with higher δ15N values, suggesting nutrient input from a marine source. The dominant plant species changed between low and high nest density sites, indicating that turtle‐derived nutrients may alter the plant community composition. The trend in δ15N values of sand was similar, although less pronounced than that of the vegetation. Sand may be a poor integrator of nutrient input due to low nutrient adsorption and high rate of leaching. Sea turtles have previously been shown to deposit considerable amounts of nutrients and energy on nesting beaches. In this study, we estimate annual nitrogen and phosphorus contributions at Tortuguero are 507 and 45 kg/km, respectively, and we demonstrate that beach vegetation likely assimilates a portion of these marine‐derived nutrients.  相似文献

Beach nourishment creates many opportunities for resource development and use, but it also creates new issues regarding cumulative, long‐term losses in borrow areas and appropriate human actions in fill areas. Nourished beaches should be considered as more than consumptive resources built for shore protection and recreation. Assessments of nourishment projects in the United States are used to identify research needed to address impacts on species and habitats in borrow areas and restoration of natural subenvironments in nourished areas. Achieving these goals involves changes in stakeholder attitudes about the meaning of beach nourishment and development of research initiatives to demonstrate the scientific, technologic, and economic feasibility of methods that are more compatible with maintaining or restoring natural landforms and habitats. Suggestions are made for expanding the spatial and temporal scales of investigation, evaluating alternative beach and sediment types, identifying new uses for fill, evaluating alternative technologies and practices, implementing adaptive management strategies, assessing stakeholder attitudes and capabilities, overcoming cost constraints, and conducting interdisciplinary studies.  相似文献
