Abstract. The upper courses of brook valley systems harbour Nardo‐Galion saxatilis communities characteristic of oligo‐trophic soils under low‐intensity farming. Most of these communities have disappeared under intensified farming i.e. application of fertilizers. We studied the possibilities of restoration i.e. re‐establishment of the former plant community by adopting various cutting regimes after the cessation of fertilization in 1972. The various cutting regimes revealed different effects after 25 yr. Regimes with cutting every second year with or without removal of the swath, and complete abandonment deviated from the other regimes that included annual haymaking with different frequency and timing. The latter group of cutting regimes came closer to the community of an adjacent field where fertilization stopped in 1967. This field in turn harboured several Nardo‐Galion species after 25 yr of annual cutting, and showed more resemblance with a local reference community (at a distance of 500 m) that had not been fertilized since the 1940s. The local reference still does not match poorly developed Nardo‐Galion saxatilis communities found in the region of ca. 50 km around the study area, and is far from well developed Nardo‐Galion communities in the same region. The study site still harbours several species characteristic of eutrophic soil and few species characteristic of oligotrophic soil after 25 yr of annual cutting and removal of the swath. The soil seed bank harbours only few target species. Although species characteristic of oligotrophic soil are present in an adjacent field and Nardo‐Galion saxatilis species occur at 500 m, they have not (yet) established in the target area.  相似文献

Abstract. Many grasslands and arable fields have been abandoned in Europe in the last decades. So far, however, ecologists have not been able to establish one general, unifying theory for successionally induced changes in species composition following abandonment. In fact, the course of succession seems to be unique for each site and year. Here we focused on the analysis of plant functional traits in order to detect general trends in trait responses to succession which would prove independent of site characteristics. We studied permanent plot series of 14 grassland sites in SW Germany that had been abandoned for 25 yr. Species composition as well as the course of succession varied significantly among the grasslands. Response to succession was analysed for the following traits: ‘plant height’, ‘canopy structure’, ‘specific leaf area’ (SLA), ‘storage organ’, ‘vegetative spread’, ‘plant persistence’, ‘seed bank longevity’, ‘start of flowering’, ‘duration of flowering’ and ‘seed mass’. We compared a univariate with a multivariate approach. In the univariate approach, attributes of each trait were analysed separately employing GLM whereas in the multivariate approach all traits were handled together in NMS. Both analyses indicated similar trait responses to succession. There was a significant increase in the proportion of species characterized by the following attributes: plant height > 0.6 m, leaves distributed regularly along the stem, vegetative spread > 100 mm, start of flowering later than May, duration of flowering 1–2 months and seeds of either low or high mass.  相似文献

水分胁迫对牛心朴子光合生理特性影响的研究   总被引:32,自引:7,他引:25  
采用PVC管种植模拟土壤干旱的方法,研究了牛心朴子(Cynanchum komarovii)在水分胁迫下光合速率(Pn)、气孔导度(Gs)、胞间CO2浓度(Ci)、叶绿素荧光的变化规律及不同生育期适应性表现。结果表明:土壤水分胁迫对牛心朴子叶片光合生理的影响与其胁迫时间及其胁迫程度都有关系,胁迫前中期Pn下降的原因主要是气孔限制,而到后期则以非气孔因素限制为主。中度土壤水分胁迫在短期内对牛心朴子叶片光合作用具有促进作用,而且有利于WUE的提高。而重度胁迫对牛心朴子Pn的影响较显著,而且非气孔因素的出现早于中度胁迫的处理。牛心朴子的光合生理对土壤水分胁迫具有一定的适应时期和适应范围。  相似文献

Abstract. Density‐dependence in tree population dynamics has seldom been examined in dry tropical forests. Using long‐term data from a large permanent plot, this study examined 16 common species in a dry tropical forest in southern India for density‐dependence. Employing quadrat‐based analyses, correlations of mortality, recruitment and population change with tree densities were examined. Mortality in 1–10 cm diameter trees was largely negatively correlated with conspecific density, whereas mortality in > 10 cm diameter trees was positively correlated. Mortality was, however, largely unaffected by the basal area and abundance of heterospecific trees. Recruitment was poor in most species, but in Lagerstroemia microcarpa (Lythraceae), Tectona grandis (Verbenaceae) and Cassia fistula (Fabaceae), species that recruited well, strong negative correlations of recruitment with conspecific basal area and abundance were found. In a few other species that could be tested, recruitment was again negatively correlated with conspecific density. In Lagerstroemia, recruitment was positively correlated with the basal area and abundance of heterospecific trees, but these correlations were non‐significant in other species. Similarly, although the rates of population change were negatively correlated with conspecific density they were positive when dry‐season ground fires occurred in the plot. Thus, the observed positive density‐dependence in large‐tree mortality and the negative density‐dependence in recruitment in many species were such that could potentially regulate tree populations. However, repeated fires influenced density‐dependence in the rates of population change in a way that could promote a few common species in the tree community.  相似文献

摘要 目的:研究三氧化矿物凝聚体(MTA)、iRoot BP Plus(iRooT)以及氢氧化钙(Ca(OH) 2)三种材料在年轻恒牙活髓切断术中的临床疗效。方法:将60例需要接受年轻恒牙活髓切断术的患者(60颗患牙)按照使用材料不同随机分为三组:MTA组、iRooT组和Ca(OH)2组,每组20例(20颗患牙),比较三组患者术后3个月和6个月手术成功率、牙本质桥形成和牙齿变色发生率、牙根管壁厚度、牙齿功能和美观度、以及血清基质金属蛋白酶-3(MMP-3)和白细胞介素-8(IL-8)水平。结果:(1)三组患者仅术后6个月临床治疗成功率存在显著差异(P<0.05);(2)Ca(OH)2组术后牙本质桥形成率显著低于其他两组(P<0.05),而牙齿变色发生率显著低于MTA组(P<0.05)和显著高于iRooT组(P<0.05)。(3)三组患者治疗后牙根管壁厚度均较治疗前显著增加,且治疗后Ca(OH)2组患牙根管壁厚度增加显著低于MTA组和iRooT组(P<0.05)。(4)Ca(OH)2组患者术后6个月牙齿舒适功能、固定功能和咀嚼功能评分均显著低于MTA组和iRooT组(P<0.05),而牙齿美观度评分显著低于iRooT组(P<0.05)和显著高于MTA组(P<0.05)。(5)三组患者术后6个月血清MMP-3和IL-8均显著低于术前(P<0.05),并且MTA组患者血清MMP-3和IL-8水平显著高于iRooT组(P<0.05)和显著低于CaOH组(P<0.05)。结论:iRoot BP Plus和MTA材料应用于年轻恒牙活髓切断术均具有较高的远期成功率,但MTA材料远期牙齿变色率较高因而影响牙齿美观度。  相似文献

Permanent meiofauna taxa and portions of the population of other invertebrates that are temporarily in the meiofauna size class are often precluded from stream studies and assessments. This study was designed to determine the identity, density, and distribution of major meiofauna taxa relative to substrate size in a set of similar headwater streams. Using a coring technique, meiofauna (80 μm–1 mm) and substrate samples were collected from 11 Ozark headwater streams in the Boston Mountain ecoregion of Arkansas, USA. Mean meiofauna density among streams was 1739 ± 436 organisms per l. Permanent meiofauna taxa (Copepoda, Cladocera, Ostracoda, Rotifera, Nematoda, Hydrachnida, and Tardigrada) comprised 22.5% of the organisms collected with a mean density of 394 ± 233 organisms per l; temporary meiofauna taxa (Oligochaeta, Turbellaria, Hydroidea, Chironomidae, Ephemeroptera, and other insects) comprised the remainder with a density of 1346 ± 308 organisms per l. Chironomidae was the most numerous temporary meiofauna taxon, and Hydrachnida was the most numerous permanent taxon. Streams were found to differ significantly in substrate composition and densities of major taxonomic categories. Substrate size was found to predict densities for most of these taxonomic categories. Meiofauna patchiness was reflected in high variability within streams. Canonical correspondence analysis revealed positive associations between Copepoda and Nematoda and silt, and between Copepoda, Nematoda, and Rotifera and fine sand. Hydrachnida and Rotifera were negatively associated with silt and coarse sand, respectively. The potential value of inclusion of meiofauna in stream environmental assessments is discussed.  相似文献

摘要 目的:探究永久起搏器程控在心房颤动诊断中的临床应用及意义。方法:选择78例我院收治的心房颤动患者随机分为程控组和非程控组2组,其中观察组患者给与永久起搏器程控诊断,非程控组则仅给植入永久起搏器,但非程控。对比分析两组患者基本资料、房颤负荷、心房与心室起搏比、心房结构重构及左心功能、P波结果;比较永久起搏器程控诊断与临床诊断结果的差异,分析永久起搏器程控在心房颤动诊断敏感度。结果:程控组和非程控组患者的男女比例、年龄、心率失常的类型、存在的基础性疾病以及使用过的治疗药物比较,差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05);程控组和非程控组患者的房颤负荷、VP值和P波最小时限均显著小于非程控组,AP值、P波最大时限和P波离散度则显著大于非程控组(P<0.05);程控组和非程控组患者的LAD、RAD、LVEDD和LVEF值在植入前和植入后均不存在显著性差异(P>0.05)。与临床诊断结果比较可以发现,永久起搏器程控对心房颤动检出率为97.44 %,且永久起搏器程控应用于诊断心房颤动敏感度高达98.72 %。结论:对心房颤动患者采用永久起搏器程控进行诊断,可以在心电图检查的各项指标结果上对患者的心房颤动给与准确的判断,具有较高的临床应用价值,值得临床推广使用。  相似文献

Vegetation recovery patterns in early volcanic succession   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Permanently plots were monitored from 1983 to the present on Mount Usu after the eruptions of 1977–78 which destroyed the pre-eruption vegetation by 1–3 m thick accumulations of ash and pumice in order to clarify the processes and mechanisms of succession. Until now, 163 species were recorded in the summit area. Most of these species were derived from vegetative reproduction throughout the volcanic deposits. Vegetative reproduction plays a major role on increases in cover. Although long-distance seed-dispersal species could immigrate to the crater basin, their cover increase was slow. Seedbank species only established in gullies where the original topsoil was exposed by erosion. Most annuais were supplied by the seedbank in the original topsoil and woody species originated via immigration, suggesting that the source greatly determines the species composition of establishing vegetation. Annual seedlings showed low survival, while overwintering perennial seedlings steadily established. Ground surface movements strongly restricted increases in plant cover and the distance from source vegetation was the principal determinant of plant density. Due to differences in disturbance intensity, successional rates were higher in the stable substrates outside gullies and lower on the exposed original topsoil in some gullies. The function and location of guard cells uniquely subject them to stress. First, stomatal movements require large fluctuations in the concentration of potassium salts. Second, guard cell inner walls are the first surfaces exposed to evaporation and apoplastic solutes may accumulate there as a result. We have therefore investigated whether guard cells exhibit atypical expression of dehydrin genes because dehydrins accumulate in vegetative tissues in response to water stress. We have also assayed for osmotin mRNA, which is up-regulated in leaves in response to various stresses. mRNA probes for several representative genes were used with RNA extracts from control and water-stressed Vicia faba leaflets. Correlatively, these probes were used with RNA extracts from "isolated' guard cells that had been incubated with combinations of abscisic acid, mannitol and Ca2+. (Isolated guard cells are epidermal strips sonicated to destroy cells other than guard cells.) Hybridization with the probe prepared for a dehydrin from Pisum sativum (Psdhn 1) was detected in leaf extracts only if the leaf had been stressed. Similarly, after 1- and 6-h incubations with abscisic acid, isolated guard cells contained an mRNA that hybridized with the probe for Psdhn 1. Appearance of this abscisic acid-dependent mRNA required neither mannitol nor exogenous Ca2+. Regardless of the conditions or tissue, no hybridization was detected with the probe against osmotin, but our interpretation of this result is qualified. The simplest conclusion is that atypical expression of dehydrin is not the mechanism by which guard cells cope with their peculiar function and location.  相似文献

Population patterns through twenty years of oldfield succession   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Using 48 permanent, 0.5×2.0 m quadrats, changes in species composition and cover were followed in an oldfield abandoned after plowing in the spring of 1960. Twenty years of data collected since then show the succession to be individualistic, that is, composed of broadly overlapping population curves through time. In general, the population curves exhibit long, persistent tails, indicating that, through this time span, succession is a process in which species that are present for much of the time become dominant at different times. Invasion and extinction are not the major mechanisms of community change. Bi- or multi-modal peaks were discovered in some species, but there is no clear explanation of such patterns yet. Many species which are important later in the sequence invade early. Information on the biologies of representative species from early, middle, and late portions of the sequence are correlated with the population patterns. In particular, the mode of dispersal, life cycle, germination behavior, and assimilation requirements are related to species positions. However, there is need for coordinated, comparative study of species strategies as well as experimental study of species interactions in order to more fully understand the mechanisms of this succession. The patterns discovered in this oldfield are compatible with contemporary concepts of succession as an organism-based phenomenon, in which probabilistic gap creation and filling are critical.Nomenclature follows Fernald (1958).The late Dr. Murray F.
