Muscular sound and force relationship during isometric contraction in man   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The contracting muscle generates a low frequency sound detectable at the belly surface, ranging from 11 to 40 Hz. To study the relationship between the muscular sound and the intensity of the contraction a sound myogram (SMG) was recorded by a contact sensor from the biceps brachii of seven young healthy males performing 4-s isometric contractions from 10% to 100% of the maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), in 10% steps. Simultaneously, the electromyogram (EMG) was recorded as an index of muscle activity. SMG and EMG were integrated by conventional methods (iSMG and iEMG). The relationship between iSMG and iEMG vs MVC% is described by parabolic functions up to 80% and 100% MVC respectively. Beyond 80% MVC the iSMG decreases, being about half of its maximal value at 100% MVC. Our results indicate that the motor unit recruitment and firing rate affect the iSMG and iEMG in the same way up to 80% MVC. From 80% to 100% MVC the high motor units' discharge rate and the muscular stiffness together limit the pressure waves generated by the dimensional changes of the active fibres. The muscular sound seems to reflect the intramuscular visco-elastic characteristics and the motor unit activation pattern of a contracting muscle.  相似文献

Twelve male Sprague-Dawley rats (21 days old) were randomly assigned into two experimental groups: sea level control (CONT) and hypobaric hypoxia (HYPO). The HYPO rats were kept in an hypobaric chamber maintaining a simulated altitude of 4000 m (61.1 kPa). After 10 weeks of treatment, the rat hindlimb muscles [soleus (SOL) and extensor digitorum longus (EDL)] were subjected to histochemical and electro-mechanical analyses. Results indicated that compared to CONT the HYPO SOL muscle had a significantly greater relative distribution of fast-twitch-oxidative-glycolytic (FOG) fibres (28.9% SEM 2.0 vs 18.3% SEM 1.8, P less than 0.01) with a significant decrease in slow twitch oxidative fibre distribution (69.5% SEM 2.4 vs 82.9% SEM 3.1, P less than 0.01). Compared to CONT the HYPO EDL muscle also manifested a significant increase in FOG fibre distribution (51.6% SEM 0.8 vs 46.6% SEM 1.1, P less than 0.01), but this was accompanied by a significant decrease in fast twitch glucolytic fibres (44.3% SEM 0.9 vs 49.2% SEM 1.7, P less than 0.05). These histochemical fibre type transformations accompanied significant and expected changes in the electro-mechanical parameters tested in situ, e.g. maximal twitch force, maximal rate of force development, contraction time, half relaxation time, force: frequency curve, and fatigability. It was concluded that chronic hypobaric hypoxia could have a potent influence upon the phenotype expression of muscle fibres.  相似文献

用4.5%聚丙烯酰胺凝胶平板电泳研究了异育淇鲫及其母本淇鲫和父本兴国红鲤的肌可溶性蛋白以及肾、肝、眼、背白肌和心等五种组织的乳酸脱氢酶(LDH)、苹果酸脱氢酶(MDH)和酯酶(EST)。结果发现:异育淇鲫的肌可溶性蛋白以及同工酶的电泳图谱与母本淇鲫相同而与父本兴国红鲤显著不同,因而认为异育淇鲫是淇鲫雌核发育的产物,父本基因对子代基本无影响。在此基础上,本文对异源精子在雌核发育中所起的生物学作用进行了初步探讨。  相似文献

Summary Locust lipoproteins (lipophorins) were localized by indirect immunofluorescence- and immunogold labelling in cryosections of dorsolongitudinal flight muscles. Immunolabelling was performed with monoclonal antibodies against apolipoprotein epitopes that are exposed at the surfaces of the lipophorin particles. Both at rest and during flight, lipophorins were located only in the wider spaces of the extracellular matrix, in the basement membranes of the individual muscle fibers and in the extracellular spaces that surround interfibrillar tracheoles. No internalization of lipophorins by the flight muscle cells was observed. Our results indicate that the unloading of lipophorins at the flight muscles is an extracellular event. Similarities with the vertebrate system of chylomicron and very-low-density lipoprotein degradation are discussed.  相似文献

Groups of young, adult males and females performed the handgrip and standing long jump tests. Their total forearm and leg volumes were calculated from a series of circumference and length measurements, and the lean volumes (bone + muscle) calculated by taking the skinfold thickness into consideration. In the handgrip, the mean female performance was 298 N compared with 496 N for the males. In the standing long jump, mean performance expressed as distance x body mass was 87.3 kg.m for females compared with 137.7 kg.m for males. These superior performances of males could simply reflect their greater muscle mass, as the mean lean volumes of female and male limbs respectively were 0.54 l and 0.89 l for forearms, and 11.82 l and 14.82 l for the two legs. However, when the performances of males and females were grouped by lean limb volume, it was found that while in both tests there were linear relationships, males and females did not share a common line. In both tests the male relationship was at a higher level than the female; therefore, for a given lean volume, the male performance was significantly superior to that of the female. The gender difference found in this study has not been seen in other studies in which the performance of skeletal muscle has been related to the cross-sectional area of the active muscles and the possible reasons for the differences are considered.  相似文献

Differences between the effects of training at sea level and at simulated altitude on performance and muscle structural and biochemical properties were investigated in 8 competitive cyclists who trained for 3-4 weeks, 4-5 sessions/week, each session consisting of cycling for 60-90 min continuously and 45-60 min intermittently. Four subjects, the altitude group (AG), trained in a hypobaric chamber (574 torr = 2300 m above sea level), and the other four at sea level (SLG). Before and after training work capacity was tested both at simulated altitude (574 torr) and at sea level, by an incremental cycle ergometer test until exhaustion. Work capacity was expressed as total amount of work performed. Venous blood samples were taken during the tests. Leg muscle biopsies were taken at rest before and after the training period. AG exhibited an increase of 33% in both sea level and altitude performance, while SLG increased 22% at sea level and 14% at altitude. Blood lactate concentration at a given submaximal load at altitude was significantly more reduced by training in AG than SLG. Muscle phosphofructokinase (PFK) activity decreased with training in AG but increased in SLG. All AG subjects showed increases in capillary density. In conclusion, work capacity at altitude was increased more by training at altitude than at sea level. Work capacity at sea level was at least as much improved by altitude as by sea level training. The improved work capacity by training at altitude was paralleled by decreased exercise blood lactate concentration, increased capillarization and decreased glycolytic capacity in leg muscle.  相似文献

Summary This study compares the action of inhibitors of the eicosanoid cascade on calcium-induced myofilament damage in cardiac muscle of the perfused frog heart and incubated frog ventricle slices, and in skeletal muscle of incubated mammalian diaphragm and isolated and saponin-skinned amphibian pectoris cutaneous muscle. Mepacrine (10-5M) and indomethacin (3×10-6M) protected completely against myofilament damage induced by entry of calcium in the calcium-paradox in frog heart. However, inhibition of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) (with chlorpromazine, 2×10-4M, or mepacrine, 10-5M, 5x10-5M), of cyclo-oxygenase enzymes (with indomethacin, 3x10-6M to 10-5M or BW755C, 3.8x10-4M), or of lipoxygenase enzymes (with BW755C, 3.8x10-4M or nordihydroguaiaretic acid, 2x10-6M or 5x10-6M) all failed in intact cardiac or skeletal muscle cells to prevent the myofilament damage that is rapidly triggered by 10-2M caffeine, 6x10-6M ruthenium red, 10-4M DNP or 5 g ml-1 A23187. These agents also failed completely to protect against myofilament damage in saponin-skinned amphibian skeletal muscle when [Ca]i was raised to 8x10-6M. Thus, inhibition of PLA2 does not protect the myofilament apparatus against calcium released intracellularly, and it is suggested that mepacrine and indomethacin can block entry of calcium in the calcium-paradox in the amphibian heart. Chlorpromazine (2x10-4M) and mepacrine (10-3M) at zero [Ca] caused severe myofilament damage in skinned muscle, possibly due to an effect on membranes. Since inhibitors of PLA2 and of lipoxygenases prevent efflux of creatine kinase and sarcolemma damage in mammalian skeletal muscle, it is evident that experimentally-induced rises in [Ca]i (by caffeine or A23187) can trigger two separate pathways: (i) PLA2 and the arachidonic acid cascade which culminate in membrane damage, and (ii) a different, Ca-activated system that causes rapid damage of myofilaments.  相似文献

To compare the results obtained by incremental or constant work load exercises in the evaluation of endurance conditioning, a 20-week training programme was performed by 9 healthy human subjects on the bicycle ergometer for 1 h a day, 4 days a week, at 70-80% VO2max. Before and at the end of the training programme, (1) the blood lactate response to a progressive incremental exercise (18 W increments every 2nd min until exhaustion) was used to determine the aerobic and anaerobic thresholds (AeT and AnT respectively). On a different day, (2) blood lactate concentrations were measured during two sessions of constant work load exercises of 20 min duration corresponding to the relative intensities of AeT (1st session) and AnT (2nd session) levels obtained before training. A muscle biopsy was obtained from vastus lateralis at the end of these sessions to determine muscle lactate. AeT and AnT, when expressed as % VO2max, increased with training by 17% (p less than 0.01) and 9% (p less than 0.05) respectively. Constant workload exercise performed at AeT intensity was linked before training (60% VO2max) to a blood lactate steady state (4.8 +/- 1.4 mmol.l-1) whereas, after training, AeT intensity (73% VO2max) led to a blood lactate accumulation of up to 6.6 +/- 1.7 mmol.l-1 without significant modification of muscle lactate (7.6 +/- 3.1 and 8.2 +/- 2.8 mmol.kg-1 wet weight respectively). Summary Development of the esophageal muscles in embryonic sea urchins is described using light- and electron microscopy. The muscles develop from processes of about 14 cells of the coelomic epithelium that become immunore-active to anti-actin at about 60 h (12–14° C). Initially, eachmyoblast extends a single process with numerous fine filopodia around the esophagus. By 72 h the processes have reached the midline and fused with those from cells of the contralateral coelomic sac. Myoblasts begin to migrate out of the coelomic epithelium between 72 and 84 h. By 72 h the processes stain with the F-actin specific probe NBD-phallacidin. The contractile apparatus is not evident in transmission electron-microscopic preparations of embryos at 70 h, but by 84 h the contractile apparatus is present and the muscle cells are capable of contraction. Because the myoblasts migrate free of the coelomic epithelium and are situated on the blastocoelar side of the basal lamina, it is suggested that that they should be considered as a class of mesenchymal cells.  相似文献
