Strongly female‐biased sex allocation in a trivoltine population of Trypoxylon (Trypargilum) opacum Brèthes (Hymenoptera, Crabronidae). —Acta Zoologica (Stockholm) 91 : 433–439. This study was carried in southern Brazil from December 2001 to December 2004. The aim of this paper is to provide additional information on the life‐history and sex allocation of this little known species. This wasp’s species has two alternative life histories: either they pupated immediately and emerged as adults later in the same season (direct development) or they entered diapause, overwintering and pupating the following spring (delayed development). The numerical sex ratio of overwintering and of direct developing wasps were strongly female biased in 2002, 2003 and 2004.  相似文献

Trypoxylon is a genus of solitary crabronid wasps whose populationgenetics is poorly known. The purpose of the present study was to investigate thegenetic variation and differentiation among five populations of Trypoxylonalbitarse, a species widely distributed throughout the Neotropics, withrecords from Panama to northern Argentina. Eight species-specific microsatellite lociwere used for genotyping 96 adult wasps (one female per nest) sampled at five sitesin Brazil. The analysis of allelic richness and private alleles indicated highgenetic diversity in the populations sampled. Pairwise comparisons using theFst and Dest indices revealed significant differentiation for all, but one pair ofpopulations. Fst, Dest, AMOVA and assignment test values pointed to inter-population differentiation.Additionally, the analysis of population structure using Bayesian and PCA methodscharacterized two alternative genetic groups. The Mantel test indicated nocorrelation between genetic and geographic distances. Despite evidence ofconsiderable dispersal capacity for T. albitarse, the data indicatelow to moderate population structuring in this species.  相似文献

Three stations selected for altitude and habitat types within the Kasnak Oak Forest Nature Reserve (Isparta, Turkey) were studied comparatively for species composition, richness and abundance of the Hymenoptera families Ampulicidae, Crabronidae, and Sphecidae. A total of 56 species was recorded, 1 from the family Ampulicidae, 43 from the family Crabronidae and 12 from the family Sphecidae. 8 species are new records for Turkey.  相似文献

Cerceris fumipennis Say (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae) uses a wide range of adult buprestid beetles to provision nests. Wasps seldom make ‘mistakes’ and attack beetles in other families. Bioassays showed that the wasps use contact chemical cues in the beetles’ epicuticle to discriminate buprestids from other beetles. Wasps rejected buprestids that had their cuticular hydrocarbons (CHC) removed by being washed in solvents. The washed, rejected buprestids became acceptable to 70% of wasps when they were coated with an extract of buprestids’ own CHC. Washed buprestids coated with extracts of non‐buprestid beetle CHC were not accepted. Analyses of buprestid CHC profiles showed that they are relatively simple, consisting of five classes. Other coleopteran families that may co‐occur in the arboreal hunting habitat of C. fumipennis have a broader range of CHC classes. Experiments adding buprestid hydrocarbons to a non‐buprestid beetle, unwashed Popillia japonica Newman (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), suggested that wasps may be deterred by the presence of CHC classes not found in Buprestidae. Adding a synthesized dimethyl‐branched hydrocarbon, a class of CHC found in Chrysomelidae but not Buprestidae, to the cuticle of unwashed buprestid beetles, caused wasps to reject the buprestid beetles. We propose that CHC act as a kairomone for C. fumipennis, triggering attack, whereas classes of CHC not found in Buprestidae disrupt this response, and thus help to determine the prey range of the wasp.  相似文献

Three new species of the genus Psen Latreille from China are described: Psen yunnanensis Ma et Li, sp. nov., from Yunnan Province; Psen lacuniventris Ma et Li, sp. nov., from Zhejiang and Sichuan Provinces; and Psen spinitibialis Ma et Li, sp. nov., from Zhejiang Province. Two species of the genus Psen are recorded from China for the first time. Modifications to the key to species of the genus Psen, as developed by van Lith in 1968, are presented.  相似文献
