We analysed leaf resistance of 41 Angiosperms belonging to a wide range of plant functional (PFTs) and chorological types (PCTs) to simulated frost and high‐temperature extreme events (EE). Leaf resistance was estimated as percentage of membrane electrolyte leakage under heating and freezing treatments in the lab. Leaf resistance to heating or freezing was not significantly correlated with the main resource‐use characteristics that defined PFTs, such as leaf specific area, toughness, N concentration or thickness. Leaf resistance to heating differed among PFTs (graminoids and bromeliads were the more resistant groups), but not among PCTs. In contrast, leaf resistance to freezing significantly differed among PCTs. Along a steep regional climatic gradient, climate variables (annual mean temperature, mean minimum temperature, mean maximum temperature and number of frost‐free months) at the locations where the given species were most abundant were also significantly correlated with freezing resistance. Species from colder habitats both at the sub‐continental and regional scales showed the highest leaf resistance to freezing. Our work indicates that leaf resistance to climatic EE and resource‐use strategy (assessed in previous studies) represent two different, partially decoupled axes of plant specialisation. It also suggests that changes in the frequency of very low temperature events might have regional‐scale impacts on vegetation, whereas changes in the frequency of very high temperature events might have more influence at the local scale.  相似文献

The thermal sensitivity of mitochondrial function was investigated in the stenothermal Antarctic fish Lepidonotothen nudifrons. State 3 respiration increases with increasing temperature between 0 °C and 18 °C with a Q 10 of 2.43–2.63. State 4 respiration in the presence of oligomycin, an inhibitor of mitochondrial ATP synthase, quantifies the leakage of protons through the inner mitochondrial membrane, which causes oxygen consumption without concomitant ATP production. This parameter shows an unusually high Q 10 of 4.21 ± 0.42 (0–18 °C), which indicates that proton leakage does not depend merely on ion diffusion but is an enzyme-catalysed process. The differential thermal sensitivity of oxidative phosphorylation (=state 3) and proton leakage (=state 4 in the presence of oligomycin) leads to progressive uncoupling of the mitochondria and decreased efficiency of oxidative phosphorylation under in vivo conditions if the body temperature of L. nudifrons increases. 目的:研究带线锚钉修复三角韧带损伤在踝关节骨折内固定治疗中的作用及对踝关节功能的影响。方法:回顾性分析2012年9月至2016年8月本院收治的72例裸关节骨折并三角韧带损伤患者并且行切开复位钢板置入内固定,及采取带线锚钉内固定方式修复三角韧带损伤视为观察组;另选取同期在本院进行踝关节骨折内固定治疗但不修复三角韧带的72例患者视为对照组。分析患者治疗前、治疗后1个月、3个月、6个月踝关节功能恢复情况,观察患侧内踝间隙和不良反应。结果:观察组在治疗后1个月、3个月、6个月的AOFAS评分显著高于对照组(P0.05)。观察组在治疗后6个月后的患侧内踝间隙显著小于对照组(P0.05)。结论:带线锚钉修复三角韧带损伤在踝关节骨折内固定治疗中,可明显降低患侧内踝间隙距离,可促进患者踝关节功能恢复,无严重不良反应,值得进一步广泛推广使用。  相似文献

Previously, we reported that mitochondria-associated hexokinases are active in controlling programmed cell death in plants (Plant Cell 18, 2341-2355). Here, we investigated their role under abiotic- and biotic-stress conditions. Expression ofNbHxk1, aNicotiana benthamiana hexokinase gene, was stimulated by treatment with salicylic acid or methyl viologen (MV), and was also up-regulated by pathogen infection. In response to MV-induced oxidative stress, NbHxk1-silenced plants exhibited increased susceptibility, while the HXK1— and HXK2-overexpressingArabidopsis plants had enhanced tolerance. Moreover, those overexpressing plants showed greater resistance to the necrotrophic fungal pathogenAlternaria brassicicola. HXK-over-expression also mildly protected plants against the bacterial pathogenPseudomonas syringae pv.tomato DC3000, a response that was accompanied by increased H2O2 production and elevatedPR1 gene expression. These results demonstrate that higher levels of hexokinase confer improved resistance to MV-induced oxidative stress and pathogen infection.  相似文献

The action of thidiazuron, a synthetic growth regulator, was studied on 7-day-old cucumber seedlings (Cucumis sativus L., cv. Monastyrskii) exposed to chilling and sublethal concentrations of lead and copper ions. The extent of injury was assessed from the electrolyte leakage from cotyledonary leaves into distilled water. Separate application of each stress factor induced an increase in membrane permeability; however, their combined application caused a weaker response. A preliminary treatment of seedlings with thidiazuron fully or partly prevented the stress-induced stimulation of electrolyte leakage from cotyledon segments. It is concluded that thidiazuron elevates plant resistance to adverse environments.  相似文献

农田土壤固碳措施作为京都议定书认可的大气CO2减排途径受到了广泛关注.研究表明,农田土壤固碳措施在主要农业国家和全球都具有很大的固碳潜力.但是,实施农田土壤固碳措施有可能影响农业中化石燃料消耗和其他农业投入的CO2排放和非CO2温室气体排放.这些土壤碳库以外的温室气体排放变化可能抵消部分甚至全部土壤固碳效果,构成了农田土壤固碳措施的温室气体泄漏.因此,将土壤固碳和温室气体泄漏综合计算的净减排潜力成为了判定土壤固碳措施可行性的首要标准.综述总结了目前较受重视的一些农田措施(包括施用化学氮肥、免耕和保护性耕作、灌溉、秸秆还田、施用禽畜粪便以及污灌)的土壤固碳潜力,温室气体泄漏和净减排潜力研究成果.结果表明,温室气体泄漏可抵消以上措施土壤固碳效益的-241%~660%.建议在今后的研究中,应该关注土壤碳饱和、气候变化及土地利用变化对农田固碳措施温室气体泄漏和净减排潜力的评估结果的影响.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of a field study to evaluate the use of helium as a tracer gas during soil vapor sampling. The authors found that the helium tracer method recommended in regulatory guidance can detect atmospheric leakage. However, the degree of leakage can be underestimated due to: 1) losses of helium from the tracer reservoir during sampling; 2) the entry of atmospheric air from an area outside the tracer reservoir; 3) temporal variability of leakage; and 4) flow-related reduction in helium detector response. Frequent leakage was observed in soil vapor probes installed using conventional direct push techniques. Probes installed at a depth of 8 ft exhibited less leakage than those installed at 4 ft. Probes installed in glacial till exhibited greater and more frequent leakage than those installed in sandy loam. Based on the frequency of observed leakage, refinement and standardization of tracer methods, with routine incorporation of tracers and in-line pressure and flow monitoring, is recommended.  相似文献

Aims: To study cellular damage induced by Cinnamomum verum essential oil in Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213. Methods and Results: The effect of cinnamon bark essential oil on these two strains was evaluated by plate counts, potassium leakage, flow cytometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Exposure to this oil induced alterations in the bacterial membrane of Ps. aeruginosa, which led to the collapse of membrane potential, as demonstrated by bis‐oxonol staining, and loss of membrane‐selective permeability, as indicated by efflux of K+ and propidium iodide accumulation. Thus, respiratory activity was inhibited, leading to cell death. In Staph. aureus, cells treated with the oil entered a viable but noncultivable (VNC) state. The oil initially caused a considerable decrease in the metabolic activity and in the replication capacity of these bacterial cells. The loss of membrane integrity appeared later, as indicated by bis‐oxonol and Propidium iodide (PI) staining. Data provided by TEM showed various structural effects in response to cinnamon essential oil. In Ps. aeruginosa cells, coagulated cytoplasmic material was observed, and intracellular material was seen in the surrounding environment, while oil‐treated Staph. aureus showed fibres extending from the cell surface. Conclusions: Cinnamon essential oil damages the cellular membrane of Ps. aeruginosa, which leads to cell death. There is evidence of VNC Staph. aureus after exposure to the oil. Significance and Impact of the Study: Cinnamon essential oil shows effective antimicrobial activity and health benefits and is therefore considered a potential food additive. To use this oil as a natural food preservative, especially in combination with other preservation methods, a thorough understanding of the mechanism through which this oil exerts its antibacterial action is required.  相似文献

Aims Nursery and forest operations require that frost hardiness results be produced faster than can be provided by controlled freezing tests. There is a great challenge to develop a rapid method for predicting frost hardiness that might not necessitate controlled freezing tests. The aim of this study was to examine the assessment of the frost hardiness of shoots and needles of Pinus bungeana by electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) with and without controlled exposure to freezing.Methods The frost hardiness of current-year shoots and needles of P. bungeana in an 8-year-old provenance field trial was measured at Shisanlin Nursery in Beijing, China, from September 2006 to January 2007 by means of EIS and conventional electrolyte leakage (EL). In the same plants, but without controlled freezing test, were monitored the EIS parameters in current-year shoots and needles.Important findings The results showed that (i) after controlled freezing tests, the frost hardiness estimated by EIS parameters (extracellular resistance, r e, and membrane time constant, τ m) was significantly correlated with the frost hardiness assessed by EL method (r = 0.95) and (ii) for the samples not exposed to controlled freezing treatment, the relaxation time τ 1 for shoots and β for needles had greater correlations with the frost hardiness estimated by EL after controlled freezing tests relative to the other parameters (r = ?0.90 for shoots and r = 0.84 for needles, respectively). The parameters r e of shoots and needles and τ m of needles might be applied for measuring frost hardiness of samples after exposed to controlled freezing tests. The frost hardiness results can be obtained within 48 h. The parameters τ 1 of shoots and β of needles could be used for estimating the frost hardiness of samples without using a controlled freezing test. The frost hardiness results can be obtained within 24 h.  相似文献
