The present study describes the synthesis and biological studies of a small series of head‐to‐tail cyclic tetrapeptides of the general structure c(Lys‐β2,2‐Xaa‐Lys) containing one lipophilic β2,2‐amino acid and Lys, Gly, Ala, or Phe as the Xaa residue in the sequence. The peptides were investigated for antimicrobial activity against gram‐positive and gram‐negative reference strains and 30 multiresistant clinical isolates including strains with extended spectrum β‐lactamase—carbapenemase (ESBL‐CARBA) production. Toxicity was determined against human red blood cells. The most potent peptides showed high activity against the gram‐positive clinical isolates with minimum inhibitory concentrations of 4–8 μg/mL and low haemolytic activity. The combination of high antimicrobial activity and low toxicity shows that these cyclic tetrapeptides containing lipophilic β2,2‐amino acids form a valuable scaffold for designing novel antimicrobial agents.  相似文献

Cortinarius is one of the most species-rich genera of mushroom-forming fungi. Based on phylogenetic and morphological evidence, Cortinarius, sect. Riederi, is introduced at sectional level (= subsect. Riederi sensu Brandrud & Melot). The taxonomy, phylogeny, ecology and distribution of not only mainly European but also including some North American taxa of this section are treated, which includes nine species and two varieties. Of these, three taxa are described as new (C. burlinghamiae, C. pallidoriederi and C. argenteolilacinus var. dovrensis). The sect. Riederi species possess morphological features similar to Phlegmacium group(s) and forms a phylogenetically isolated lineage, with no supported affinity to other phlegmacioid groups. Three taxa are known from both Europe and North America, two species are known only from North America and five only from Europe. Altogether, eight of the ten taxa are associated with conifers or northern (boreal-subalpine) deciduous trees (Betula spp.). Only two species occur in more temperate forests (Fagus forests), and no species have so far been found in thermophilous Quercus forests  相似文献

Changes in evapotranspiration (ET) from terrestrial ecosystems affect their water yield (WY), with considerable ecological and economic consequences. Increases in surface runoff observed over the past century have been attributed to increasing atmospheric CO2 concentrations resulting in reduced ET by terrestrial ecosystems. Here, we evaluate the water balance of a Pinus taeda (L.) forest with a broadleaf component that was exposed to atmospheric [CO2] enrichment (ECO2; +200 ppm) for over 17 years and fertilization for 6 years, monitored with hundreds of environmental and sap flux sensors on a half‐hourly basis. These measurements were synthesized using a one‐dimensional Richard's equation model to evaluate treatment differences in transpiration (T), evaporation (E), ET, and WY. We found that ECO2 did not create significant differences in stand T, ET, or WY under either native or enhanced soil fertility, despite a 20% and 13% increase in leaf area index, respectively. While T, ET, and WY responded to fertilization, this response was weak (<3% of mean annual precipitation). Likewise, while E responded to ECO2 in the first 7 years of the study, this effect was of negligible magnitude (<1% mean annual precipitation). Given the global range of conifers similar to P. taeda, our results imply that recent observations of increased global streamflow cannot be attributed to decreases in ET across all ecosystems, demonstrating a great need for model–data synthesis activities to incorporate our current understanding of terrestrial vegetation in global water cycle models.  相似文献

Juvenile rainbow trout were exposed to unlabelled benzo[a]pyrene BaP and 3H benzo a pyrene (3H BaP), in a static exposure system for 2 days. The initial concentration was 30 μg l-1 and 0.625 μCi l-1, corresponding to 6 mg kg-1 body weight and 125 μCi kg-1 body weight. Hepatic 7-ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase (EROD) activity was measured during the exposure and depuration periods, elucidating the time course pattern of CYP1A induction. Maximum induction (11-fold) of EROD activity was observed on day 2 after addition of BaP to the water. Tissue distribution of 3H-BaP was studied by liquid scintillation counting and whole body autoradiography. The concentration of 3H-BaP-derived radioactivity was highest in the bile at all sampling times. High levels of radiolabelled compound were also present in the gills, liver and the olfactory organ. There was an overall decrease in all tissues during the depuration period. The elimination of 3H-BaP-derived radioactivity from the gills, however, was slow compared with liver and blood (6.2 days vs 2.7 and 2.9 days, respectively).  相似文献

X-Ray data collected at 87 K showed crystals of sodium α-l-guluronate dihydrate (C6H9O7Na · 2 H2O) to be orthorhombic, P212121 with a = 7.591(2), b = 18.884(5), c = 6.842(2) Å, and Z = 4. The structure was solved by direct methods, and full-matrix least-squares refinement based on 1587 Fo yielded R = 0.043 and Rw = 0.033. The structure analysis indicates partial anomeric disorder with α:β ~90:10. The guluronate ring has the 1C4(l) conformation. Sodium binds two translation-equivalent guluronate units and one water molecule in a primary five-fold coordination. The complexing oxygen functions, which include all axial hydroxyl groups and one carboxylate oxygen atom in the guluronate ring, describe a distorted trigonal bipyramid. A prominent feature of the crystal structure is the stacks of sodium atoms and guluronate residues in alternating sequence along the c axis. The stacks are held together by an intricate system of hydrogen bonds involving all oxygen atoms in the structure. The water molecules play an important role in this system both as hydrogen donors and acceptors.  相似文献
