Photosporulation of Alternaria tomato was very little influenced by polyoxin at concentrations below 10 μg/ml, although hyphae and conidia were morphologically affected. The hyphae grown in the presence of polyoxin were easily disrupted.  相似文献

1. The seeds ofNasturtium palustreDC. do not germinate, eitherin the light or darkness, at various constant temperatures, but require for their full germination a certain period of alow temperature (5°) applied immediately after light irradiation. These results indicate the existance of at least two processes,a light-dependent process and a low temperature-requiring process,in the initiation of germination ofNasturtiumseeds. Experimentalevidence indicated further that the light exposure causes twodifferent processes in the seed germination. 2. When a dark period at 23° was inserted between the lightirradiation and the low temperature treatment the germinationwas suppressed. The inhibitory effect of the inserted dark periodat 23° was eliminated by a short irradiation during thedarkness (light-break). 3. Prolonged exposure ofNasturtium seeds to any concentrationof gibberellin brought about no germination when exposure wasgiven in complete darkness. The germination was promoted onlywhen light irradiation was applied to the seeds. A short applicationof gibberellin at a fairly high concentration was, however, remarkably effective for the germination even in the darkness, and the germination was inhibited as the gibberellin applicationwas lengthened. It was considered that gibberellin could substitutefor the combined effect of light irradiation and low temperaturetreatment to induce the germination of Nasturtium seeds, andthat gibberellin was inhibitive toward the reactions followingthe above treatments which induced the germination (Received October 31, 1996; )  相似文献

The effects of kinetin and gibberellin were examined under anaerobicconditions (0% oxygen) and aerobic conditions (20% oxygen) onthe germination of dehusked seeds of indica and japonica ricecultivars that had been harvested at different times duringthe formation of seeds. Surjamkhi was used as a representativeof deep dormant indica cultivars and Assam IV as a less dormantindica cultivar. Sasanishiki was used as the japonica rice cultivar. Both phytohormones were applied at a concentration of 10-3Mwhichproved to have the greatest stimulatory effect in preliminarywork at concentrations of 10-3–10-5M. Under aerobic conditions, inhibition of germination by dehusking of Sasanishiki seedsthat had been harvested either 30 or 60 d after anthesis wasovercome by kinetin and all seeds germinated. Complete germinationinduced by kinetin under aerobic conditions was also achievedwith the dehusked seeds of the indica rice cultivar Assam IVthat had been harvested on two occasions and of Surjamkhi thathad been harvested 28 d after anthesis. In contrast, germinationof dehusked japonica seeds stimulated by anaerobiosis was inhibitedby kinetin. The stimulatory effects of gibberellin on the germinationof indica and japonica rice seeds were observed under aerobicand anaerobic conditions. Under anaerobic conditions, the responsesof dehusked indica and japonica rice seeds to kinetin and gibberellindiffered, being negative with kinetin and positive with gibberellin.Under aerobic conditions, the stimulatory effects of kinetinon germination of dehusked seeds were greater than those ofgibberellin. Thus, treatment with kinetin appears to be usefulfor breaking the considerable dormancy commonly observed inthe dehusked seeds of indica rice. Mechanisms are proposed toexplain the stimulatory effects of these phytohormones on thegermination of dehusked seeds of indica and japonica rice underaerobic and anaerobic conditions. Plants show many responses to herbivore damage caused by insects. We investigated the effect of the specialist leaf herbivore Luehdorfia puziloi on the performance of a deciduous forest understory perennial herb Asarum heterotropoides . We conducted artificial defoliation experiments with different levels of damage (0, 50 or 100% clipping) in the early growing period (flowering time: early May) and in the late growing period (when natural herbivory by L. puziloi larvae occurs: early June) in a natural population. Effects of the defoliation treatments on reproduction (seed-set ratio) of A. heterotropoides in the treated year and on survival and development of the plant in the subsequent year were investigated. Severe defoliation conducted in the early period resulted in less current-year seed production and increased regression to a dormant or non-reproductive stage in the following year, which would reduce the probability of future flowering. In contrast, defoliation conducted in the late period had no effect on the reproduction, survival and development of A. heterotropoides . Similarly, we found no obvious correlation between the damaged leaf area during the later period and seed set. Our results show that the specialist herbivore L. puziloi did not influence the performance of A. heterotropoides by damaging the plant later in the season when it was tolerant of damage.  相似文献
