A commercial cotton gauze was modified by partial carboxymethylation using both exhaustion and pad-dry-cure methods, and varying the reaction time and concentration of monochloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide to obtain the relative degree of carboxymethylation differently. For each experiment, relative value of the degree of substitution (DSrel) of the modified cotton was evaluated and compared with whole blood clotting time, absorption and retention of chitosan and silver nitrate solutions, antibacterial activity, and physical properties of whiteness, bursting strength and water absorption. Carboxymethylated cotton gauze with a higher DSrel value showed a better absorption of chitosan and silver nitrate solutions and retained these two solutions for a much longer time than those of unmodified cotton gauze or carboxymethylated cotton gauze at a lower DSrel. Carboxymethylated cotton gauzes obtained from exhaustion method showed significant antibacterial activity and higher bursting strength and less affected whiteness index than those treated by pad-dry-cure method. 相似文献

An endophytic Streptomyces sp. GMKU 3100 isolated from roots of a Thai jasmine rice plant (Oryza sativa L. cv. KDML105) showed the highest siderophore production on CAS agar while phosphate solubilization and IAA production were not detected. A mutant of Streptomyces sp. GMKU 3100 deficient in just one of the plant growth promoting traits, siderophore production, was generated by inactivation of a desD-like gene encoding a key enzyme controlling the final step of siderophore biosynthesis. Pot culture experiments revealed that rice and mungbean plants inoculated with the wild type gave the best enhancement of plant growth and significantly increased root and shoot biomass and lengths compared with untreated controls and siderophore-deficient mutant treatments. Application of the wild type in the presence or absence of ferric citrate significantly promoted plant growth of both plants. The siderophore-deficient mutant clearly showed the effect of this important trait involved in plant–microbe interaction in enhancement of growth in rice and mungbean plants supplied with sequestered iron. Our results highlight the value of a substantial understanding of the relationship of the plant growth promoting properties of endophytic actinomycetes to the plants. Endophytic actinomycetes, therefore, can be applied as potentially safe and environmentally friendly biofertilizers in agriculture. 相似文献

This paper presents a comparison between surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and capacitive immunosensors for a flow injection label-free detection of cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) in human serum. Anti-CA 125 was immobilized on gold surface through a self-assembled monolayer. Parameters affecting the responses of each system were optimized. Under optimal conditions, SPR provided a detection limit of 0.1 U ml−1 while 0.05 U ml−1 was obtained for the capacitive system. Linearity for SPR was between 0.1 and 40 U ml−1 and 0.05–40 U ml−1 for capacitive system. These immunosensors were applied to analyze CA 125 concentrations in human serum samples and compared with conventional enzyme linked fluorescent assay (ELFA). Both systems showed good agreement with ELFA (P < 0.05). Moreover, these immunosensors were very stable and provided good reproducible responses after regeneration, up to 32 times for SPR and 48 times for capacitive system with relative standard deviation lower than 4%. The SPR immunosensor provided advantages in term of fast response and real-time monitoring while capacitive immunosensor offered a sensitive and cost-effective method for CA 125 detection. 相似文献
