Elucidation of mechanisms underlying plant tolerance to cadmium, a widespread toxic soil pollutant, and accumulation of Cd in plants are urgent tasks. For this purposes, the pea (Pisum sativum L.) mutant SGECdt (obtained by treatment of the laboratory pea line SGE with ethylmethane sulfonate) was reciprocally grafted with the parental line SGE, and four scion/rootstock combinations were obtained: SGE/SGE, SGECdt/SGECdt, SGE/SGECdt, and SGECdt/SGE. They were grown in hydroponics in the presence of 1 μM CdCl2 for 30 d. The SGE and SGECdt scions on the SGECdt rootstock had a higher root and shoot biomass and an elevated root and shoot Cd content compared with the grafts having SGE rootstock. Only the grafts with the SGE rootstock showed chlorosis and roots demonstrating symptoms of Cd toxicity. The content of nutrient elements in roots (Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, and Zn) was higher in the grafts having the SGECdt rootstock, and three elements, namely Ca, Fe, and Mn, were efficiently transported by the SGECdt root to the shoot of these grafts. The content of other measured elements (K, Mg, Na, P, and Zn) was similar in the root and shoot in all the grafts. Then, the non-grafted plants were grown in the presence of Cd and subjected to deficit or excess concentrations of Ca, Fe, or Mn. Exclusion of these elements from the nutrient solution retained or increased differences between SGE and SGECdt in growth response to Cd toxicity, whereas excess of Ca, Fe, or Mn decreased or eliminated such differences. The obtained results assign a principal role of roots to realizing the increased Cd-tolerance and Cdaccumulation in the SGECdt mutant. Efficient translocation of Ca, Fe, and Mn from roots to shoots appeared to counteract Cd toxicity, although Cd was actively taken up by roots and accumulated in shoots. 相似文献

117 pure bacterial cultures of numerous species isolated by the authors at acute postnatal pyo-catarrhal cattle endometritis have been studied for their virulence and resistance to 18 antibiotics with the aim to determine their etiologic role in the development of the given pathology and to make a prediction estimation of possible therapeutic and preventive efficiency of the antibiotics. The experiments on white mice have revealed pathogenic properties and virulence in most studied strains of bacteria of different species. The studied microflora is, mainly, resistant practically to all 18 tested antibiotics. The nature and mechanism of formation of chromosomes' centric fusion were studied in mammals using the spreading method and silver staining of pachytene chromosomes. The male mice carriers of Robertsonian translocations Rb (8, 17) 1IEM, animals with standard karyotypes and F1 hybrids were used. Microflora isolated from cattle with acute postnatal pus-catarrhal endometritis has been studied. It is shown that the given pathology is caused by associations of different bacterial species. 284 strains isolated from the uterus content of 63 sick animals have been identified, their properties being studied. Pathogenic gram-negative bacilli and gram-positive pus-producing cocci are responsible for the studied pathology. Considerable inoculation capacity has been established for conditionally pathogenic microorganisms of different species and genera whose role in pathogenesis is to be found out. 相似文献

The analysis of whole-mount preparations of synaptonemal complexes (SCs) from surface-spread spermatocytes of A. peninsulae (2n = 48A + 1, 2, ... 12 B) had revealed SCs of 23 autosomal bivalents, sex bivalent XY, axial cores and SCs of the B-chromosomes. The intercellular and interindividual variability of the number of B-chromosomes varied from 1 to 12 per cell. The SCs of autosomal bivalents were shown to have a typical structure. The structure and behaviour of SCs of sex bivalent throughout meiotic prophase I appeared to be similar to those observed in other species of this order. Mainly B-univalents and less frequently B-bivalents containing SCs were found to be formed in meiotic prophase I. The full homologues appear to be rarely seen among B-chromosomes of the East-Asiatic mouse. A tendency of forming clusters of B-univalents near the sex bivalent was found, in addition to B-bivalents with lateral elements, having the form of bi- and tri-stranded elements with rare synaptic fragments. Besides this, the SCs of the autosomes of pachytene cells were found to contain structures resembling the recombination nodules. 相似文献

The structural organization of adrenal cortex has been studied in intact rats and after short-term hypoxia exposure on different altitudes (2, 6, 8, 11 km). Previously rats have been divided into 3 groups by adrenaline test for determining of vegetative reactivity type. It has been found that some histochemical and morphometric indices of adrenal cortex had peculiarities with respect to type of vegetative reactivity (width of zones, their ratio, nuclear diameter, ascorbic acid content and its distribution and other) in intact rats. Synaptonemal complexes of spermatocytes I obtained from C57BL/6j male mice treated with inactivated bacterial vaccines were spread over the hypotonic phase and then were investigated using light microscope. The slides of synaptonemal complexes of mice treated with cyclophosphamide were used as positive control. It is shown possible in principle to reveal synaptonemal complex abnormalities by means of light microscopy. These abnormalities were not more frequent in vaccinated animals than in intact ones. Cyclophosphamide at doses of 100-200 mg/kg induced synaptonemal complex damage practically in 100% of cells 96 hours after the injection. 相似文献

Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are remote‐controlled devices capable of collecting information from difficult‐to‐access places while minimizing disturbance. Although UAS are increasingly used in many research disciplines, their application to wildlife research remains to be explored in depth. Here, we report on the use of a small UAS to monitor temporal changes in breeding population size in a Black‐headed Gull Chroicocephalus ridibundus colony.
