Three formulations of the systemic fungicide metalaxyl were tested in various seed treatments for the control of pearl millet downy mildew in three field experiments with downy mildew-susceptible pearl millet hybrid NHB-3. Uniform, high levels of sporangial inoculum of the causal fungus, Sclerospora graminicola, were provided throughout the growth of the test crops from inoculated infector rows of NHB-3, planted earlier between the test plots. Significant reductions in downy mildew were obtained with all fungicide treatments. Best control was obtained when seed was soaked in a 0.5% aqueous solution of a liquid formulation (mean infection index of 9.8% compared with 94.8% in the untreated check). The degree of control with the wettable powder formulations was directly related to fungicide dosage, and there were no significant effects of application method. Simple dusting of seed at 2 g a.i./kg, a rapid and simple operation requiring small quantities of fungicide and no special application equipment, gave a high level of control (infection index of 12.6% compared with 78.9% in the untreated check). In two experiments grain yields from all the treated plots were significantly greater than from the untreated plots (means of 1234 and 1534 kg/ha for treated plots compared with 485 and 743 kg/ha, respectively), and in the third, the treatment with the least downy mildew gave significantly more grain than the untreated check (1228 compared with 727 kg/ha). 相似文献

The sequence of primordial initiation is acropetal and the primordia develop in the same order in which they appear. The floral apex has a two-layered tunica in all stages of development. There is no significant difference in the initiation of any of the floral appendages and thus all floral organs are homologous with respect to their histogenetic origin. The short calyx tube is formed by ontogenetic fusion of the bases of sepals; but the corolla tube arises partly by ontogenetic union of originally free parts and partly by zonal or intercalary growth. Each primordium receives a single procambium strand shortly after its initiation, except those of the posterior pair of stamens, which do not receive any vascular supply. Assessment of genetic diversity in a crop germplasm is a vital part of plant breeding. DNA markers such as microsatellite or simple sequence repeat markers have been widely used to estimate the genetic diversity in rice. The present study was carried out to decipher the pattern of genetic diversity in terms of both phenotypic and genotypic variability, and to assess the efficiency of random vis-à-vis QTL linked/gene based simple sequence repeat markers in diversity estimation. A set of 88 rice accessions that included landraces, farmer’s varieties and popular Basmati lines were evaluated for agronomic traits and molecular diversity. The random set of SSR markers included 50 diversity panel markers developed under IRRI’s Generation Challenge Programme (GCP) and the trait-linked/gene based markers comprised of 50 SSR markers reportedly linked to yield and related components. For agronomic traits, significant variability was observed, ranging between the maximum for grains/panicle and the minimum for panicle length. The molecular diversity based grouping indicated that varieties from a common centre were genetically similar, with few exceptions. The trait-linked markers gave an average genetic dissimilarity of 0.45 as against that of 0.37 by random markers, along with an average polymorphic information constant value of 0.48 and 0.41 respectively. The correlation between the kinship matrix generated by trait-linked markers and the phenotype based distance matrix (0.29) was higher than that of random markers (0.19). Endometrial hyperplasia and irregular shedding of the endometrium comprise the largest group of known causes of functional uterine bleeding.Most patients with functional uterine bleeding have a normal endometrial pattern. In a series of patients with functional uterine bleeding, it was noted that 69.7 per cent of endometrial specimens reported as normal showed evidence of hyalinized tissue which included endometrial glands. Tissue of this type was noted in only 3.5 per cent of curetted specimens from patients without functional uterine bleeding. Diagnostic uterine curettage is the initial step in the management of functional uterine bleeding. Hysterectomy and radiation castration are seldom necessary in the management of functional uterine bleeding and are indicated only under specific circumstances. 相似文献

Import of sucrose and its transformation to galactomannan andraffinose-oligosaccharides have been studied in the developingguar seed. The amount of galactomannan gradually increased withthe ageing of the seed. During the entire period of pod development,sucrose constituted the major portion of the free sugars inthe seed (both endosperm and cotyledons) as well as in the podwall. Besides myo-inositol, the free sugars detected in thedeveloping endosperm and cotyledons were glucose, fructose,raffinose and stachyose. Some compounds, possibly glycosides(RG values higher than that of fructose), were also detectedin the endosperm. In the later stages of seed development, therelative proportion of raffinose in the free sugars increased,reaching 50% of the total free sugars in 77-d-old cotyledons.With pod maturity, the activities of soluble acid and boundacid invertases in the pod wall increased manifold with a concomitantdecline in the non-reducing sugar content. These enzymes seemto be involved in the mobilization of sucrose from this fruitingstructure into the seed. An increased synthesis of raffinose-oligosaccharidesboth in the endosperm and cotyledons was associated with highactivities of soluble acid invertase (pH 4.8) and sucrose-UDPglucosyl transferase in these tissues. Feeding uniformly labelled14C-sugars to the detached intact pods as well as to the isolatedendosperm and cotyledons resulted in labelling of all endogenousfree sugars and galactomannan. The uptake and incorporationinto galactomannan of 14C was stimulated by Co2+, Mn2+ and Mg2+.Except for mannose, a major proportion of the 14C from glucose,fructose and sucrose appeared in sucrose in both endosperm andcotyledons indicating a fast reconstitution of sucrose in situ.Based on the present results, a possible mode of transformationof sucrose to galactomannan and raffinose-oligosaccharides hasbeen proposed. [目的]斯氏按蚊Anopheles stephensi是亚洲东南部城市人体疟疾的主要媒介,印度12%的疟疾病例由其引起.本实验研究了印度中部Madhya Pradesh地区东北部的疟疾强化控制(EMCP)区和非强化控制(非EMCP)区斯氏按蚊的基因流.在EMCP区,由于采用了各种疟疾防控措施因而疟疾病例首先降低,但是很快回升,说明总的疟疾风险维持稳定.[方法]应用7个微卫星位点,对印度中部Madhya Pradesh地区东北部的4个EMCP区和非EMCP区采集的斯氏按蚊进行基因分型,以分析各种群参数.[结果]发现各标记在所有种群中表现出高度的多态性.在两区间未发现很大的遗传多样性.观察到EMCP区的东部种群(FST=0.0485,RST =0.1112)比非EMCP区的北部种群(FST=0.020,RST =0.0145)具有较高的遗传分化,在EMCP区和非EMCP区之间观察到较高的基因流(12.90,6.16,5.06和2.38).RST的灵敏度高于FST,说明分化可能是由于突变而非遗传漂变引起的.[结论]本研究表明,在EMCP区和非EMCP区内以及EMCP区和非EMCP区之间存在很高的基因流.基因流水平高以及抗虫性的发展似乎是EMCP区和非EMCP区疟疾病例发生增加的重要原因. 相似文献
