Green microalgae were grown under natural light in a photobioreactor similar to a transparent plate absorber. A proper temperature was maintained through the control of evaporation and the minimization of convective heat waste. Carbon dioxide desorption was lower in comparison to its level during cultivation in open or covered ponds. A yield of 1 g/l per day and over 100 g/m2 projection area was achieved.  相似文献

An approach is proposed to assess the periods of human skin exposure to solar ultraviolet-A (UV-A, 315–400 nm) irradiance in natural conditions that are able to yield doses found to trigger carcinogenesis in laboratory experiments. Weighting functions, adopted to perform such estimate are constructed, allowing for a comparison between environmental and laboratory doses. Furthermore, the impact of stratum corneum (SC) thickness on the studied environmental doses was investigated. Based on laboratory studies, it was found that exposure periods of less than a month, at mid-latitudes, could provide irradiance doses capable of causing tumor formation. The duration of these exposure periods closely depends on the exposure regime, atmospheric conditions and SC thickness. It is believed that the presented evaluations could provide a useful preliminary estimation of the risk associated with environmental UV-A exposure prior to the formulation of the corresponding action spectra and determination of the threshold doses.  相似文献

The management of Arctic migrant geese is complex, because they frequently use landscapes under intensive human use, and are conflict species in multiple respects. Some populations are of high conservation concern, but they also cause agricultural damage, are quarry for hunters, and may be particularly sensitive to infrastructure developments. In Bulgarian Dobrudzha, large wintering populations of greater white-fronted geese Anser albifrons and red-breasted geese Branta ruficollis feed in agricultural land, and cause management dilemmas. We developed linear models to investigate fine- and meso-scale foraging habitat selection of geese foraging on winter wheat in the area, and used these models to make suggestions for zoning landscape use in order to reduce conflict and conserve geese. Habitat selection was scale-dependent. Geese selected fields that were near to major roosts and had low proximity to roads and tree-lines, which may be a proxy for hunting disturbance. We found some evidence for selection of wheat fields with high nutritional quality. Within fields, geese strongly avoided features which cause landscape ‘clutter’: power-lines, tree-lines and wind-turbines, but primarily over distances of less than a few hundred metres. Optimal management might involve encouraging goose populations to feed in areas close to roosts, by means of agri-environmental measures and creation of hunting-free refuges. This would allow efficient use of agri-environment funds, might reduce conflict with farmers, and would mean that infrastructure development—notably wind farms—could be sited at greater distance from roosts with relatively minor impact on foraging habitat availability.  相似文献

A procedure for estimating biomass during batch fermentation from on-line gas analysis is presented. First, the respiratory quotient was used to determine the fraction of the total oxygen utilization rate required for cell maintenance and growth versus product synthesis. The modified oxygen utilization rate was then used to estimate biomass on-line by integrating the oxygen balance for cell synthesis-maintenance. Stock mother plants have gained importance in the process of adventitious rooting of woody plants in recent years. The present study reveals the role of the cutting position from a stock mother plant for subsequent rooting. Cuttings of Prunus subhirtella Miq. var. Autumnalis which originated from suckers at the bottom of a tree developed a rooting system of better quality (rooted cutting without callus formation, more main roots) compared to cuttings which originated from shoots at the top of a tree. The latter accumulated significantly more indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) with the highest value of 25.37 μg g?1 FW on the severance date. These cuttings also contained more indole-3-acetyl-aspartate (IAA-Asp) on the second day after severance with the highest value of 4875.95 μg g?1 FW compared to cuttings from the bottom-deriving suckers. The latter metabolised IAA primarily via 2-oxindole-3-acetic acid (oxIAA) and indole-3-methanol because the concentrations of these compounds increased at the base of these cuttings. The highest concentration of oxIAA, 8.3 mg ekv. IAA g?1 FW, was measured 1 h after severance in cuttings from the bottom-derived suckers. With 590.5 ng ekv IAAg?1 FW, the indole-3-methanol values were also significantly higher in the cuttings from the bottom shoots compared with cuttings from the top of the tree.  相似文献

Empirical force-field calculations and ir and 1H-nmr spectra indicate that five-membered (C5) and seven-membered (C) hydrogen-bonded rings are the preferred conformations of acetyl-L -Phe p-acetyl and p-valeryl anilides in nonpolar media. The C5/C ratio was found to be dependent on the dryness of the solute and the solvent. This fact and the results from conformational-energy calculations suggest that a molecule of water participates in the stabilization of the C conformation.  相似文献

The effect of chronic para-chlorphenylalanine (PCPA) treatment was investigated in two different seizure models: the pentylenetetrazole (PTX) seizure model in rats and the kindled seizures from rabbit amygdala. Chronic PCPA treatment (21 days) in male albino rats caused a progressive decrease in the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) brain level between the 1st and the 7th day of PCPA administration. Then the 5-HT level remained low until the end of the experiment. On the background of the low 5-HT level there occurred changes in PTZ convulsive reactions: after the 3rd day of PCPA treatment the convulsive-seizure reactivity was significantly increased and after the 7th, 14th and 21st day the increased seizure reactivity performed only as a tendency, though the 5-HT level was still low. Chronic PCPA treatment (16 days) of rabbits delayed the development of the behavioural kindled seizures. This treatment also reduced the duration of bioelectrical seizures until the 8th day of treatment, especially in the motor cortex. The observed different effect of the chronic PCPA treatment in both seizure models: pentylenetetrazole in rats and kindling in rabbits might be explained by essential differences in the origin and mechanisms of development of the two seizure models.  相似文献

Résumé Des recherches histoenzymatiques sont effectuées sur biopsies de 14 pancréas humains prélevés au cours d'interventions opératoires. Les cellules insulaires présentent une très grande activité pour la G-6-PDH, 6-PGDH, ICDH, Cis-Ac-ase et NADPH-R. Elles montrent une activité plus faible pour la LDH, MDH, 3-PGADH, SDH, ATP'ase, MAO, Sulfatase, Estérase et Leuc. Peptidase. La Lip-DH et la glucuronidase sont faiblement positives. Il existe une différence de l'activité enzymatique entre les cellules A et B; ces dernières montrent une activité plus importante. La G-6-P'ase, la F-1-6-DP'ase sont négatives. Certaines considérations sont faites sur le r?le probable des enzymes étudiées dans la cytophysiologie insulaire.
Summary Histoenzymatic investigations on 14 normal human biopsies from surgical interventions demonstrate a high activity of G-6-PDH, 6-PGDH, ICDH, Cis-Ac-ase and NADPH-R of the islet cells. The activities of LDH, MDH, 3-PGA-DH, SDH, ATP'ases, MAO, sulfatase, Esterase and Peptidases are considerably less intense. The Lip-DH, the glucuronidase are feebly positive. There exists a difference between the A and the B-cells. These latter shows generally a more considerable activity. Other activities like G-6-P'ase and F-1-6P'ase are negative. Some considerations are drawn on the presumable role of these enzymes in the cytophysiology of the islets of Langerhans.
