A new type of ruthenium(II) complex containing a 2-quinolinecarboxylate ligand was designed and synthesized as a sensitizer for dye-sensitized solar cells, and its photophysical and photochemical properties were characterized. The solar cells created with this complex exhibited efficient panchromatic sensitization over the entire visible wavelength range extending into the near-IR region. An overall conversion efficiency of 8.2% was attained under standard air mass 1.5 irradiation (100 mW cm−2) with the short-circuit photocurrent density of 18.2 mA cm−2, the open-circuit photovoltage of 0.63 V and the fill factor of 0.72.  相似文献

Mammary gland chromatin from lactating rats was fractionated according to the Mg2+-solubility method after mild digestion with DNase II. The chromatin properties were compared between the Mg2+-soluble (S2) and the Mg2+-insoluble (P2) fractions. The weight ratio of RNA to DNA was much greater in the S2 fraction than in the P2 fraction (S2, 0.92; P2, 0.03). The DNA repeat length of the nucleosome was very similar between the two fractions (S2, 193 ± 7; P2, 1% ± 8 nucleotide pairs). A significant difference was seen in electrophoretic pattern of H1 histone between the two fractions in the acid-urea gel system. Nonhistone proteins with molecular weights higher than about 40,000 dalton were found to be enriched in the S2 fraction.  相似文献

Elevated CO2 increases seed production more in plant species that form a symbiotic association with N2–fixing bacteria than in species without such association. We studied the mechanism of the increase of seed production with elevated CO2 using nodulated soybean (Glycine max cv. Enrei) and its non-nodulated isogenic line (cv. En1282). Increase in seed production with elevated CO2 was observed in nodulated Enrei but was not in non-nodulated En1282. The increase in seed production in Enrei was explained by the increase in the rate of dry mass production during the reproductive period. This increase was associated with the increase in N assimilation in the reproductive period and the seed N concentration that remained the same as that at ambient CO2. Dry mass production and nitrogen assimilation did not increase in the vegetative phase in both lines. These results accorded with the amount of nodules in Enrei that increased at elevated CO2 especially after flowering. We conclude that the increase in N assimilation in the reproductive period would be the key for increasing soybean yield in the future high-CO2 world.  相似文献

Flagellin genes (fliC) were detected in two species of the genus Shigella. The fliCSF gene cloned from Shigella flexneri produced normal-type flagella in an Escherichia coli δ fliC strain while the fliCSS genes from two Shigella sonnei strains produced curly-type flagella and their expression is repressible by Salmonella FljA repressor. The fliCSF gene (1650bp) shared high similarity with the E. coli fliCE gene not only in the 5′ and 3′ constant sequences but also in the upstream and downstream sequences. The fliCS genes (1572 bp) shared high similarity with the Salmonella typhimurium fliCs gene in the operator and 3’constant sequences and also shared high similarity with the fliCE gene in the downstream sequence, suggesting that the fliC gene has undergone horizontal transfer and recombination. Differences In nucleotide sequences of the central variable regions among the four fliC genes, including fliCE and fliCS, suggest that they started differentiation in each lineage approximately 80 million years ago. Loss of motility in Shigella seems to be evolutionarily a recent event.  相似文献

In enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) O157, there are two types of anaerobic nitric oxide (NO) reductase genes, an intact gene (norV) and a 204 bp deletion gene (norVs). Epidemiological analysis has revealed that norV-type EHEC are more virulent than norVs-type EHEC. Thus, to reveal the role of NO reductase during EHEC infection, we constructed isogenic norV-type and norVs-type EHEC mutant strains. Under anaerobic conditions, the norV-type EHEC was protected from NO-mediated growth inhibition, while the norVs-type EHEC mutant strain was not, suggesting that NorV of EHEC was effective in the anaerobic detoxification. We then investigated the role of NO reductase within macrophages. The norV-type EHEC produced a lower NO level within macrophages compared with the norVs-type EHEC. Moreover, the norV-type EHEC resulted in higher levels of Shiga toxin 2 (Stx2) within macrophages compared with the norVs-type EHEC. Finally, the norV-type EHEC showed a better level of survival than the norVs-type EHEC. These data suggest that the intact norV gene plays an important role for the survival of EHEC within macrophages, and is a direct virulence determinant of EHEC.  相似文献
