We analysed the expression of members of the hh gene family in adult ocular tissues of newt, frog and mouse by RT-PCR method. Shh displayed restricted expression in the neural retina that was conserved in each species analyzed. X-bhh, X-chh and mouse Ihh were detected in the iris and in the retinal pigment epithelium, while mouse Dhh was detected additionally in the neural retina and faintly in the cornea. We also found that two types of ptc genes, potential hh targets and receptors, were expressed in these tissues, suggesting the presence of active hh signalling there.  相似文献

Summary Ribosomal proteins from unfertilized eggs of three sea urchin species, Pseudocentrotus depressus, Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus, and Anthocidaris crassispina, were analyzed. Species-specific differences were observed in the profiles of large subunit proteins on two-dimensional slab gels, though the number of ribosomal proteins and the molecular weights of their counterparts were the same. The small subunit proteins revealed similarities in the electrophoretic profiles and in the phosphorylation patterns among these three species.  相似文献

Phosphorylated 2-keto-3-deoxyoctonate (KDO) has been detected in the strong-acid hydrolysates of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) of family Vibrionaceae including Vibrio cholerae. Structural analysis of LPS isolated from a rough mutant of non-01 V. cholerae 05 by dephosphorylation, periodate oxidation and methylation analysis revealed that the inner core region of the LPS molecule contains only one mole of KDO in contrast to enteric Gram-negative bacterial LPS, and that the phosphate group on the KDO molecule resides in the C4 position, while the site of binding of KDO to heptose, a constituent of the distal part of the inner core region, is the C5 position as in the enteric bacterial LPS.  相似文献

This paper reports that the efficiency of solute diffusion through the outer membrane of Pseudomonas maltophilia is roughly 3 to 5% of that of Escherichia coli. This is despite the fact that the outer membrane pore(s) is only a little smaller than that of E. coli. These results suggest that P. maltophilia has a low copy number of porin(s). The outer membrane of antibiotic resistant clinical isolates showed even less efficient permeability towards saccharides and antibiotics than the laboratory strains.  相似文献

Serological cross-reaction of intact as well as chemically modified LPS from O1 Vibrio cholerae 569B (Inaba) with non-O1 V. cholerae Hakata LPS, which contain alpha(1-->2)-linked N-acetyl perosamine-homopolymer constituting their O polysaccharide chain, was studied by passive hemolysis test by using their LPS as antigen for sensitizing sheep red blood cells (SRBC). The N-deacylation of the alpha(1-->2)-linked linear 3-deoxy-tetronyl perosamine-homopolymer constituting the O polysaccharide chain in 569B LPS resulted in virtual elimination of their serological reactivity with both homologous Inaba and heterologous Hakata antisera. Furthermore, when the resultant NH2 groups of the N-deacylated perosamine-homopolymers in 569B LPS were N-acylated with acetyl, propionyl or butanoyl groups, they markedly recovered the serological reactivity to a marked extent, in particular, their pronounced cross-serological reactivity with heterologous Hakata antiserum. These results are believed to be compatible with the interpretation that the Inaba antigen factor C possessed by the two bacteria studied is related to the common occurrence of the N-acyl groups, regardless of what the acyl groups are, residing in the perosamine residues of the perosamine-homopolymers constituting the O polysaccharide chain of their LPS.  相似文献

Cross-agglutination and cross-agglutinin absorption experiments were carried out on non-O1 Vibrio cholerae bio-serogroup Hakata (Hakata) and Yersinia enterocolitica O9 (O9). It was shown that the O-antigen of Hakata was closely related to that of O9 in an a, b-a, c type of relationship. The antigenic relationship between the O-antigens of the two bacteria was analyzed by passive hemolysis (PH) and passive hemolysis inhibition (PHI) tests by using their lipopolysaccharides (LPS) as antigen for sensitizing sheep red blood cells (SRBC) and, in the case of the latter, as an inhibitor in a PH system consisting of LPS-coated SRBC, guinea-pig complement and anti-Hakata or O9 antiserum, both unabsorbed and absorbed with the heterologous Hakata or O9 antigen. In the PH experiment, unabsorbed anti-Hakata antiserum had hemolytic titers of 126,100 and 2,600 against Hakata- and O9-LPS-coated SRBC, respectively, and anti-O9 antiserum had hemolytic titers of 19,400 and 38,800, respectively, against these SRBC. The PH experiment showed that anti-O9 antiserum contains a hemolysin reacting with the heterologous Hakata antigen at a high titer (19,400), while anti-Hakata antiserum contains a hemolysin reacting with the heterologous O9 antigen at a significant titer (2,600). The former was completely removed from anti-O9 antiserum with the Hakata antigen and the latter from anti-Hakata antiserum with the O9 antigen. Thus, serological cross-reactivity was demonstrated between the Hakata and O9 strains.  相似文献

Recent studies on insect patterning suggest that the genetic hierarchy may be roughly conserved in phylogenetically divergent species, but pair-rule genes may not function identically in all insects. In order to understand potential evolutionary changes in the role of the pair-rule genes, a Bombyx even-skipped homolog was cloned and its expression pattern during early embryogenesis studied. Eight stripes of Bombyx even-skipped were progressively expressed in an antero–posterior order. Later, these stripes disappeared anteriorly. Under this detection system, Bombyx even-skipped stripes clearly do not resolve into the corre sponding secondary stripes, an obvious difference from Drosophila and Tribolium . These results suggest that Bombyx even-skipped may serve a double-segment defining role and may determine the odd-numbered engrailed stripes.  相似文献

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis was used to analyze protein synthesis in relation to neural and epidermal differentiation in Cynops pyrrhogaster embryo. Various regions of embryos at different developmental stages, from late morula to early neurula stages, were excised, radiolabelled with 35S-methionine, and the pattern of protein synthesis were compared. The following four types of protein spots were observed: (1) six proteins synthesized characteristically in the epidermal region of the embryo after gastrulation, (2) two proteins synthesized in both epidermal and endodermal regions, but not in other regions, after gastrulation, (3) a protein first detected at early blastula stage, of which expression was nearly constant in presumptive epidermis region but declined in the other regions, (4) the candidate for neural plate specific protein synthesized at a very high level in ectoderm explants treated with concanavalin A, a substance which evokes neural induction.  相似文献
