The experiment was conducted to investigate the human thermoregulatory responses during rest, exercise and recovery atT a 20°C and 60% R.H. under the conditions of wearing two different types of clothing. Six healthy men wore two types of clothing: one covering the whole body area except the head (Type A, weight 1656 g), and the other covering only the trunk, upper arms and thighs (Type B, weight 996 g). The level of rectal temperature was kept significantly higher in Type B than in Type A during rest and recovery. The increased and decreased rates of rectal temperature during exercise and recovery were significantly greater in Type A than in Type B, respectively. These findings are discussed from the viewpoint of the differences of skin temperatures of the extremities between Type A and Type B.  相似文献

Bacillus subtilis plasmid pGR71 is a promoter-probe shuttle vector derived from pUB110. The expression of the cat gene on pGR71 in B. subtilis requires the insertion of a Bacillus promoter and a ribosomal binding site (RBS) into the HindIII cloning site immediately upstream from the cat gene. A recombinant plasmid of pGR71, named pGR71-369, was obtained by a spontaneous deletion of a fragment containing most of the inserted HindIII fragment and the replication origin necessary for multiplication in Escherichia coli. The expression of the cat gene in B. subtilis cells carrying this plasmid was inducible by heat. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the upstream region of the cat gene, deletion analysis, and dot blot hybridization analysis of mRNA in various conditions revealed that the cat gene was expressed by heat-inducible translational coupling and that the regulatory region of heat inducibility was present in the upstream region of the cat gene.  相似文献

We authors propose a mathematical model for simple cell binocular response. It comprises two Gabor-type receptive fields (RF) having the same RF center, preferred spatial frequency, and preferred orientation. The model integrates the equally weighted signals from both eyes and performs a threshold operation. Poggio and Fischer (1977) classified binocular disparity cells in the striate cortex into four groups: tuned excitatory (TE), tuned inhibitory (TI), near, and far cells. They also found that most of the TE cells are ocularly balanced and that the other three types are usually unbalanced. This model can imitate these four types of disparity sensitivities and their ocular dominance tendency. We perform model fittings to Poggio's data using the “simulated annealing” method and discuss parameter dependence of the model's response. The model can also respond with exceptional disparity sensitivity: i.e., flat type, alternating type, and intermediate type.  相似文献

Summary Monoclonal antibodies were raised against germinal vesicles which were isolated from fully grown oocytes of the ascidianHalocynthia roretzi. Immunoblot analyses revealed that one of the antibodies, designated Hgv-2, recognized a single band with a molecular weight of about 83 kDa. The antibody, visualized by indirect immunohistochemistry, reacted only with the germinal vesicles of oocytes and did not react with test cells, follicle cells, and other somatic cells of the gonad. During embryogenesis the antigenicity was found in interphase nuclei of all embryonic cells. The antibody did not react with chromosomes or the mitotic apparatus. The antigenicity was retained by interphase nuclei of larval cells, but it disappeared from nuclei of juveniles about 7 days after metamorphosis.  相似文献

The arcA (dye) and arcB genes of Escherichia coli are responsible for anaerobic repression of target operons and regulons of aerobic function (the arc modulon). The amino acid sequence of ArcA (Dye) indicated that it is the regulator protein of a two-component control system. Here we show that ArcB is a membrane sensor protein on the basis of its deduced amino acid sequence (778 residues), hydropathicity profile, and cellular distribution. On the carboxyl end of the ArcB sequence there is an additional domain showing homology with conserved regions of regulator proteins. Deletion into this domain destroyed ArcB function. ArcB conserved a histidine residue for autophosphorylation of the sensor proteins, and aspartic residues important for the regulator proteins.  相似文献

Summary A previous paper has demonstrated that enhanced tumor-specific immunity could be induced by priming mice with Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) and subsequently immunizing them with syngeneic tumor cells modified with BCG-cross-reactive muramyl dipeptide (MDP) hapten [15]. The present study establishes a tumorspecific immunotherapy protocol for a murine chronic leukemia based on the above T-T cell collaboration between antitumor effector T cells and anti-MDP hapten helper T cells induced by BCG priming. BALB/c mice which had been primed to BCG were injected intravenously (i.v.) with viable, syngeneic BCL1 leukemia cells. One week later, these mice were immunized intraperitoneally (i.p.) with unmodified or MDP hapten-modified, 10,000 R X-irradiated BCL1 cells, followed by 4 booster immunizations at 5-day intervals. The administration of unmodified BCL1 tumor cells into BCG-primed mice failed to prevent them from tumor death due to the persistent growth of preinjected BCL1 cells. In contrast, the immunization of BCG-primed, BCL1 leukemia-cell-bearing mice with MDP-modified BCL1 cells resulted in a high growth inhibition of leukemia cells and protection of these mice from death by leukemia. It was also revealed that potent tumorspecific, T-cell-mediated immunity was generated in mice which survived in this immunotherapy model. The subcellular distribution of asparagine:oxo-acid aminotransferase (EC 2.6.1.14) in rat liver was examined by centrifugation in a sucrose density gradient. About 30% of the homogenate activity after the removal of the nuclear fraction was recovered in the peroxisomes, about 56% in the mitochondria, and the remainder in the soluble fraction from broken peroxisomes. The mitochondrial asparagine aminotransferase had identical immunological properties with the peroxisomal one. Glucagon injection to rats resulted in the increase of its activity in the mitochondria but not in the peroxisomes. Immunological evidence was obtained that the enzyme was identical with alanine:glyoxylate aminotransferase 1 (EC 2.6.1.44) which had been reported to be identical with serine:pyruvate aminotransferase (EC 2.6.1.51) (Noguchi, T. (1987) in Peroxisomes in Biology and Medicine (Fahimi, H. D., and Sies, H., eds) pp. 234-243, Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg). The same results as described above were obtained with mouse liver. All of alanine:glyoxylate aminotransferase 1 in livers of mammals other than rodents, which cross-react with the antibody against rat liver alanine:glyoxylate aminotransferase 1, had no asparagine aminotransferase activity.  相似文献

The cytokinetic effects of carboplatin(CBDCA) on a human ovarian cancer cell line(KF-1) were examined by means of cell survival rate and flow cytometry in comparison with cisplatin(CDDP). CBDCA and CDDP exhibited dose dependent cytotoxicity on KF-1, and CBDCA showed compatible cell growth inhibition to that of 15 times concentration of CDDP in comparison with IC50 of 72 hrs after drug addition. From the analysis of cell cycle, CBDCA and CDDP inhibited cell cycle progression at G2 + M phase. CBDCA exhibited G2 + M phase block to that of 15 to 20 times the concentration of CDDP. We suggested that CBDCA had potential therapeutic activity against ovarian cancer, but should be evaluated carefully in the clinical use.  相似文献
