目的:采用SF-36量表中文版评价农村中老年人生存质量,并为提高农村中老年人的生存质量和健康水平提供科学依据和建议。方法:采用随机抽样的方法,采用面对面访谈的形式,记分方法参照国际生存质量评价计划(IQOLA)的制定标准,评价其生理和心理健康状况。结果:1590名农村中老年人男性生存质量得分高于女性。经济水平对农村中老年人的生理健康的影响大于对其心理健康的影响。配偶健在的农村中老年人的各维度得分均高于无配偶者。农村中老年人的各维度得分随教育水平的升高呈升高趋势。结论:农村中老年人的生存质量与年龄成负相关,同时也受文化程度和经济水平等多个因素的影响。因而,对农村中老年人这一弱势群体应该给予更多关注。  相似文献

Background

In October 2007, a cluster of patients experiencing a novel polyradiculoneuropathy was identified at a pork abattoir (Plant A). Patients worked in the primary carcass processing area (warm room); the majority processed severed heads (head-table). An investigation was initiated to determine risk factors for illness.

Methods and Results

Symptoms of the reported patients were unlike previously described occupational associated illnesses. A case-control study was conducted at Plant A. A case was defined as evidence of symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and compatible electrodiagnostic testing in a pork abattoir worker. Two control groups were used - randomly selected non-ill warm-room workers (n = 49), and all non-ill head-table workers (n = 56). Consenting cases and controls were interviewed and blood and throat swabs were collected. The 26 largest U.S. pork abattoirs were surveyed to identify additional cases. Fifteen cases were identified at Plant A; illness onsets occurred during May 2004–November 2007. Median age was 32 years (range, 21–55 years). Cases were more likely than warm-room controls to have ever worked at the head-table (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 6.6; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.6–26.7), removed brains or removed muscle from the backs of heads (AOR, 10.3; 95% CI, 1.5–68.5), and worked within 0–10 feet of the brain removal operation (AOR, 9.9; 95% CI, 1.2–80.0). Associations remained when comparing head-table cases and head-table controls. Workers removed brains by using compressed air that liquefied brain and generated aerosolized droplets, exposing themselves and nearby workers. Eight additional cases were identified in the only two other abattoirs using this technique. The three abattoirs that used this technique have stopped brain removal, and no new cases have been reported after 24 months of follow up. Cases compared to controls had higher median interferon-gamma (IFNγ) levels (21.7 pg/ml; vs 14.8 pg/ml, P<0.001).

Discussion

This novel polyradiculoneuropathy was associated with removing porcine brains with compressed air. An autoimmune mechanism is supported by higher levels of IFNγ in cases than in controls consistent with other immune mediated illnesses occurring in association with neural tissue exposure. Abattoirs should not use compressed air to remove brains and should avoid procedures that aerosolize CNS tissue. This outbreak highlights the potential for respiratory or mucosal exposure to cause an immune-mediated illness in an occupational setting.  相似文献

A quantification method was developed to determine the concentrations of the major antifreeze glycoprotein (AFGP) isoforms in the blood of Antarctic notothenioid fishes. Serum samples were precipitated with 2.5% TCA and the supernatant containing AFGPs were chromatographed on an HPLC size exclusion column and the concentrations of the major AFGP size classes were determined from the areas of the corresponding peaks in the elution profile. Eight species of Antarctic notothenioid fishes were examined and their blood AFGP concentrations varied from 5 to 35 mg/mL. All of these fishes synthesized both the large and small AFGPs, but maintained higher levels of small AFGPs than the large ones in their blood. The species inhabiting more severe water environments (lower temperature and presence of ice) had higher serum AFGP levels than those in milder environments. The cryopelagic Pagothenia borchgrevinki decreased their blood AFGP concentrations in response to warm acclimation, but to a much lower extent in comparison to the antifreeze-bearing fishes in the Northern Hemisphere. After being warm acclimated at +4 degrees C for 16 weeks, the serum concentrations of the small and large AFGPs were decreased by about 60% and 20%, respectively.  相似文献

The joint spatial and temporal fluctuations in the community structure of tropical butterflies are analyzed by fitting the bivariate Poisson lognormal distribution to a large number of observations in space and time. By applying multivariate dependent diffusions for describing the fluctuations in the abundances, the environmental variance is estimated to be very large and so is the strength of local density regulation. The variance in the lognormal species abundance distribution is partitioned into components expressing the heterogeneity between the species, independent noise components for the different species, a demographic stochastic component, and a component due to overdispersion in the sampling. In disagreement with the neutral theory, the estimates show that the heterogeneity component is the dominating one, representing 81% of the total variance in the lognormal model. Different spatial components of diversity, the alpha, beta, and gamma diversity, are also estimated. The spatial scale of the autocorrelation function for the community is of order 1 km, while sampling of a quadrat would need to be 10 km on a side to yield the total diversity for the community.  相似文献

The role of growth factors in controlling the development of glial cells in both the peripheral and central nervous systems has been investigated for a number of years. The recent discovery of a new family of growth factors termed the neuregulins (NRGs) has led to an explosion of information concerning the putative role of these growth factors in the development of Schwann cells (SC), oligodendrocytes (OLG), and astrocytes. Many of these previous studies have focused on the effects of exogenous NRGs on glial cell development and differentiation. We now review the evidence that these glial cells themselves produce NRGs and discuss the major implications of these findings with respect to glial cell development and diseases which affect glial cell function. We also discuss the potential role of endogenous NRGs following neural injury.  相似文献

The fate of tetanus toxin (mol wt 150,000) subsequent to its retrograde axonal transport in peripheral sympathetic neurons of the rat was studied by both electron microscope autoradiography and cytochemistry using toxin-horseradish peroxidase (HRP) coupling products, and compared to that of nerve growth factor (NGF), cholera toxin, and the lectins wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), phytohaemagglutinin (PHA), and ricin. All these macromolecules are taken up by adrenergic nerve terminals and transported retrogradely in a selective, highly efficient manner. This selective uptake and transport is a consequence of the binding of these macromolecules to specific receptive sites on the nerve terminal membrane. All these ligands are transported in the axons within smooth vesicles, cisternae, and tubules. In the cell bodies these membrane compartments fuse and most of the transported macromolecules are finally incorporated into lysosomes. The cell nuclei, the parallel golgi cisternae, and the extracellular space always remain unlabeled. In case the tetanus toxin, however, a substantial fraction of the labeled material appears in presynaptic cholinergic nerve terminals which innervate the labeled ganglion cells. In these terminals tetanus toxin-HRP is localized in 500-1,000 A diam vesicles. In contrast, such a retrograde transsynaptic transfer is not at all or only very rarely detectable after retrograde transport of cholera toxin, NGF, WGA, PHA, or ricin. An atoxic fragment of the tetanus toxin, which contains the ganglioside-binding site, behaves like intact toxin. With all these macromolecules, the extracellular space and the glial cells in the ganglion remain unlabeled. We conclude that the selectivity of this transsynaptic transfer of tetanus toxin is due to a selective release of the toxin from the postsynaptic dendrites. This release is immediately followed by an uptake into the presynaptic terminals.  相似文献

We performed a genetic analysis of 37 temperature-sensitive mutants of murine hepatitis virus strain JHM. Of our mutants, 32 did not induce murine hepatitis virus-specific RNA synthesis in infected cells at the restrictive temperature, 39 degrees C. By complementation testing we have identified at least seven nonoverlapping complementation groups. Six of the genes identified in this way are required for murine hepatitis virus-specific RNA synthesis. The seventh complementation group is made up of five mutants which induced virus-specific RNA synthesis at 39 degrees C.  相似文献

Recent advances using transgenic animals or exogenous complement inhibitors have demonstrated prevention of hyperacute rejection of vascularized organs, but not graft loss due to acute vascular rejection. Using various wild-type and cytokine-deficient mice strains, we have examined the mechanisms of acute vascular rejection. C57BL/6 mice deficient in interleukin12 or gamma interferon showed faster acute vascular rejection than did wild-type mice. Furthermore, mice defective in B-cell development showed no acute vascular rejection. These results demonstrate that the axis of interleukin 12 and gamma interferon provides a survival advantage in vascularized xenografts by delaying or preventing acute vascular rejection caused by a B cell-dependent mechanism.  相似文献

Xenotransplantation may provide the only solution to the shortage of human donor organs. Although hyperacute rejection associated with xenotransplantation can now be overcome, acute vascular rejection (AVR) remains a primary barrier to xenotransplantation. To date, standard immunosuppressive agents fail to block AVR or prolong xenograft survival. The present study was undertaken to determine the role of CD80/CD86 costimulatory molecules in regulating AVR. Lewis rat hearts were transplanted heterotopically into wild-type or IL-12, CD80- or CD86-deficient C57BL/6 mice. Wild-type recipients were treated with CD80 or CD86 neutralizing Ab with and without daily cyclosporin A (CsA, 15 mg/kg). Transplanted hearts in untreated wild-type recipients were rejected on postoperative days (POD) 17-21 and showed cell-mediated rejection (CMR) and AVR pathologies. In contrast, transplanted hearts in IL-12 and CD80 recipients or wild-type recipients treated with CD80 neutralizing Ab were rapidly rejected on POD 5 and 6 with AVR pathology. Interestingly, hearts transplanted into CD86 knockout recipients or wild-type recipients treated with CD86 neutralizing Ab underwent CMR on POD 17. Finally, blockade of CD86 but not CD80 rendered xenograft recipients sensitive to daily CsA therapy, leading to indefinite xenograft survival. To conclude, we demonstrate that AVR can be overcome by blocking the CD86 costimulatory pathway. Furthermore, we demonstrate that CD80 and CD86 have opposing roles in regulation of xenotransplantation rejection, where CD80 drives CMR and attenuates AVR while CD86 drives AVR. Most strikingly, indefinite xenograft survival can be achieved by suppressing AVR with CD86 neutralization in combination of CsA therapy, which inhibits CMR.  相似文献

Previous reports have demonstrated the presence of functional thromboxane A2 (TP) receptors in astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. In these experiments, the presence and function of TP receptors in primary rat Schwann cells (rSC) and a neurofibrosarcoma-derived human Schwann cell line (T265) was investigated. Immunocytochemical and immunoblot analyses using polyclonal anti-TP receptor antibodies demonstrate that both cell types express TP receptors. Treatment with the stable thromboxane A2 mimetic U46619 (10 microM) did not stimulate intracellular calcium mobilization in rSC, whereas T265 cells demonstrated a calcium response that was inhibited by prior treatment with TP receptor antagonists. U46619 also stimulated CREB phosphorylation on Ser133 in T265 cells and, to a lesser extent, in rSC. To identify potential mechanisms of CREB phosphorylation in rSC, we monitored intracellular cAMP levels following U46619 stimulation. Elevated levels of cAMP were detected in both rSC (20-fold) and T265 (15-fold) cells. These results demonstrate that TP receptor activation specifically stimulates CREB phosphorylation in T265 cells, possibly by a calcium- and/or cAMP-dependent mechanism. In contrast, TP receptor activation in rSC stimulates increases in cAMP and CREB phosphorylation but does not elicit changes in intracellular calcium.  相似文献
