MOTIVATION: The article presents results of the listing of the quantity of amino acids, dipeptides and tripeptides for all proteins available in the UNIPROT-TREMBL database and the listing for selected species and enzymes. UNIPROT-TREMBL contains protein sequences associated with computationally generated annotations and large-scale functional characterization. Due to the distinct metabolic pathways of amino acid syntheses and their physicochemical properties, the quantities of subpeptides in proteins vary. We have proved that the distribution of amino acids, dipeptides and tripeptides is statistical which confirms that the evolutionary biodiversity development model is subject to the theory of independent events. It seems interesting that certain short peptide combinations occur relatively rarely or even not at all. First, it confirms the Darwinian theory of evolution and second, it opens up opportunities for designing pharmaceuticals among rarely represented short peptide combinations. Furthermore, an innovative approach to the mass analysis of bioinformatic data is presented. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the concentration of selenium and selected heavy metals and their possible relationship in serum of 25 healthy lactating cows (Montbéliarde) reared in a non-polluted area, in the western part of Poland. Cadmium, lead, copper, and zinc concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and Se concentration was determined fluorimetrically. The content of Se, Zn, and Cu was 0.083?±?0.026, 0.629?±?0.413, and 0.152?±?0.042?μg/mL, respectively. The presence of the Cd and Pb was found in all serum samples. The mean concentration of these metals was 0.0009?±?0.0008 and 0.018?±?0.016?μg/mL, respectively. Analysis of correlations between Se and toxic metals showed a negative and significant (P?相似文献

Three neuropeptides Zopat-MS-2 (pEDVDHVFLRFa), Zopat-SK-1 (pETSDDYGHLRFa) and Zopat-NVPL-4trunc. (GRWGGFA), recently isolated from the neuroendocrine system of the Zophobas atratus beetle, were tested for their myotropic and hyperglycaemic activities in this species. These peptides exerted differentiated dose-dependent and tissue specific physiological effects. Zopat-MS-2 inhibited contractions of the isolated heart, ejaculatory duct, oviduct and hindgut of adult beetles and induced bimodal effects in the heart contractile activity of pupae in vivo. It also increased the haemolymph free sugar level in larvae of this species, apart from myotropic activity. Zopat-SK-1 showed myostimulatory action on the isolated hindgut of the adult beetles, but it decreased contractions of the heart, ejaculatory duct and oviduct. Injections of this peptide at a dose of 2 μg also caused delayed cardioinhibitory effects on the heartbeat of the pupae. Together with the ability to increase free sugar level in the haemolymph of larvae these were new physiological activities of sulfakinins in insects. Zopat-NVPL-4trunc. inhibited the muscle contractions of the two organs: hindgut and ejaculatory duct but it was inactive on the oviduct and the heart of the adult beetles. This peptide also increased free sugar level concentration in the haemolymph of Z. atratus larvae. These physiological actions are the first biological activities discovered for this group of the insect peptides. The present work showed pleiotropic activity of three neuropeptides and indicates that the visceral muscle contractions and the haemolymph sugar homeostasis in Z. atratus are regulated by complex mechanisms.  相似文献

Jasmonic acid methyl ester (JAMe) has been recently shown to play a crucial role in many physiological processes. In this paper, we focused on cotyledon senescence in Ipomoea nil and revealed that JAMe and darkness are the main factors stimulating the process examined. What is more, we showed that mefenamic acid (a jasmonate biosynthesis inhibitor) reverses the stimulatory effect of darkness on senescence. In plants growing under dark conditions, stimulation of JASMONIC ACID CARBOXYL METHYLTRANSFERASE (InJMT) expression and, consequently, an increase in JAMe content, have been observed. In turn, the level of jasmonic acid (JA) gradually decreased. Moreover, dark-grown seedlings demonstrated a lower PSII functional activity and a reduced chlorophyll content and autofluorescence. All of these data suggest that JAMe is a signal molecule controlling the senescence of cotyledons in I. nil.  相似文献

DNA content in amitotically dividing nuclei of endosperm of Vicia faba subsp. major cv. Hangdown was cytophotometrically measured after Feulgen reaction. Measurements of DNA content indicate that nuclei with lower ploidy level divide into equal parts. Divisions of nuclei with higher ploidy level result both in nuclei with equal and nuclei with different DNA content. Nuclei with higher ploidy level can still divide mitotically that lead to the equalising of DNA content in endosperm nuclei.  相似文献

In earlier studies the toxicity of the lanthanides was determined on the basis of the LD50/30 value, increase of serum ornithine carbamoyltransferase activity, and the degree of passage of the lanthanides to the fetuses and milk. The purpose of the present work was to investigate the effects of toxic doses of lanthanum and cerium on the function of the placental barrier and the blood/organ barrier in mice using substances of known molecular weight labelled with radionuclides (14C-aminoisobutyric acid--AIB, 3H-thymidine and 125I-albumin). Increased uptake of 14C-AIB and 3H-thymidine was demonstrated in the liver, spleen and placenta of mice after toxic doses of La and Ce indicating disturbances in the function of the blood/organ barrier (liver, spleen, placenta) due to damage to the vascular endothelium or cell membranes. No disturbances were shown in the function of the placental barrier (which would have caused increased passage of these markers to the fetus), and rupture of the cell membranes in the studied tissues was not demonstrated (it would have caused increased passage of 125I-albumin, a macromolecular compound) in any of the studied organs in mice.  相似文献
