Results are presented from experimental studies of a section of a magnetically insulated transmission line (MITL) with a current density of up to 500 MA/cm2 and linear current density of up to 7 MA/cm (the parameters close to those in a fast-Z-pinch-driven fusion reactor projected at Sandia Laboratories). The experiments were performed in the S-300 facility (3 MA, 0.15 Ω, 100 ns). At high linear current densities, the surface of the ohmically heated MITL electrode can explode and a plasma layer can form near the electrode surface. As a result, the MITL can lose its transmission properties due to the shunting of the vacuum gap by the plasma produced. In this series of experiments, the dynamics of the electrode plasma and the dependence of the transmission properties of the MITL on the material and cleanness of the electrode surface were studied. It is shown experimentally that, when the current with a linear density of up to 7 MA/cm begins to flow along a model MITL, the input and output currents differ by less than 10% over a time interval of up to 230 ns for nickel electrodes and up to 350 ns for a line with a gold central electrode. No effect of the oil film present on the electrode surface on the loss of the transmission properties of the line was observed. It is also shown that electron losses insignificantly contribute to the total current balance. The experimental results are compared with calculations of the electrode explosion and the subsequent expansion of the plasma layer. A conclusion is made that the life-time of the model MITL satisfies the requirements imposed on the transmission lines intended for use in the projected thermonuclear reactor.  相似文献

Anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic systems inoculated without and with NaCl acclimated cultures, i.e., Models A and B, respectively, were fed with a synthetic wastewater at various salinity levels. After achieving a steady state, the systems were shocked with 70 g/l NaCl for four consecutive days before returning to pre-shock conditions. At the steady-state, the specific oxygen uptake rates (SOURs) increased with an increase of sodium chloride concentration (from 5.40 to 9.72 mg O2/g mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS)-h at 0–30 g/l NaCl for Model A and from 6.84 to 17.64 mg O2/g MLSS-h at 5–30 g/l NaCl for Model B). In contrast, the specific ammonia uptake rate (SAUR) and specific nitrate uptake rate (SNUR) decreased with increasing chloride concentration (from 4.76 to 2.14 mg NH3–N/g MLSS-h and 2.50 to 1.22 NO3–N/g MLSS-h, for Model A, and from 3.84 to 2.71 mg NH3–N/g MLSS-hr and 2.54 to 1.82 mg NO3–N/g MLSS-hr, for Model B). During the shocked period, the SOUR in most scenarios increased whereas the SAUR and SNUR tended to decrease. The impact of the chloride shock on nitrifiers was more obvious than on denitrifiers; however, after a certain recovery period, the activities of both nitrifiers and denitrifiers in terms of SAUR and SNUR were approximately the same as those prior to shock.  相似文献

We report two posttraumatic fungal endophthalmitis cases with anterior and entire segment involvement caused, respectively, by Candida albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus. The anterior endophthalmitis induced by C. albicans presented multifocal lesions with hyphael structures in anterior chamber, but without involvement of posterior vitreous. The pan-endophthalmitis caused by A. fumigatus displayed significant hypopyon and vitritis. Treatment strategies are anterior chamber cleaning for anterior endophthalmitis and vitrectomy for pan-endophthalmitis, excepting systemic and topical antifungal drug applications including intravitreal injection for both types of endophthalmitis. There is a much better outcome in the case with anterior segment involvement than that with entire segment involvement. This case report provides evidence that the different types of posttraumatic fungal endophthalmitis related to different fungal infections indeed existed and should be managed with different strategies.  相似文献
