Photodynamic tumor-destroying activity of the boronated chlorin e6 derivative BACE (chlorin e6 13(1)-N-{2-[N-(1-carba-closo-dodecaboran-1-yl)methyl]aminoethyl}amide-15(2), 17(3)-dimethyl ester), previously described in Moisenovich et al. (2010) PLoS ONE 5(9) e12717, was shown here to be enormously higher than that of unsubstituted chlorin e6, being supported by the data on much higher photocytotoxicity of BACE in M-1 sarcoma cell culture. To validate membrane damaging effect as the basis of the enhanced tumoricidal activity, BACE was compared with unsubstituted chlorin e6 in the potency to photosensitize dye leakage from liposomes, transbilayer lipid flip-flop, inactivation of gramicidin A ionic channels in planar lipid membranes and erythrocyte hemolysis. In all the models comprising artificial and cellular membranes, the photodynamic effect of BACE exceeded that of chlorin e6. BACE substantially differed from chlorin e6 in the affinity to liposomes and erythrocytes, as monitored by fluorescence spectroscopy, flow cytometry and centrifugation. The results support the key role of membrane binding in the photodynamic effect of the boronated chlorin e6 amide.  相似文献

Chlorins, a class of plant porphyrins, are perspective as photosensitizing agents due to light absorption in the long wavelength spectral region and deeper photodamage of tissues. Aiming at optimization of antitumour properties of chlorins, we synthesized a series of boronated derivatives of chlorin e6 and their complexes containing Zn(II), Pd(II) or Sn(IV). The compounds were synthesized by alkylation of amino or hydroxy derivatives of chlorin e6 with 1-trifluoromethanesulfonylmethyl-o-carborane. Chlorin e6 13(1)-N-{2-[N-(o-carboran-1-yl)methyl]aminoethyl}amide-15(2), 17(3)-dimethyl ester (compound 5) formed complexes with serum albumin, a major porphyrin carrier. The binding constant of these complexes was ~4 times bigger than the respective value for the complexes of albumin with boron-free aminochlorin e6. Compound 5 potently sensitized rat fibroblasts to illumination with monochromatic red light: >98% of cells were necrotic by 24 h post-illumination with 1 μM of 5. This compound demonstrated high efficacy in photodynamic therapy of rat M-1 sarcoma. After PDT with 25 mg/kg of 5 the residual tumours were significantly smaller than in animals subjected to PDT with equal concentration of boron-free aminochlorin e6. No signs of general toxicity were detectable after PDT with 5. Thus, boronation can enhance the potency of chlorins in PDT, in particular, due to an increased binding to albumin. Our data expand the therapeutic applicability of boronated chlorins beyond boron neutron capture therapy; these agents emerge as dual efficacy photoradiosensitizers.  相似文献

Boronated derivatives of porphyrins are studied extensively as promising compounds for boron-neutron capture therapy and photodynamic therapy. Understanding of the mechanism of their permeation across cell membranes is a key step in screening for the most efficient compounds. In the present work, we studied the ability of boronated derivatives of chlorin e 6 and porphyrins, which are mono-, di-, and tetra-anions, to permeate through planar bilayer lipid membranes (BLM). The translocation rate constants through the hydrophobic part of the lipid bilayer were estimated for monocarborane and its conjugate with chlorin e 6 by the method of electrical current relaxation. They were similar, 6.6 and 6.8 sec−1, respectively. Conjugates of porphyrins carrying two and four carborane groups were shown to permeate efficiently through a BLM although they carry two charges and four charges, respectively. The rate of permeation of the tetraanion estimated by the BLM current had superlinear dependence on the BLM voltage. Because the resting potential of most mammalian cells is negative inside, it can be concluded that the presence of negatively-charged boronated groups in compounds should hinder the accumulation of the porphyrins in cells.  相似文献

Boron neutron-capture therapy of cancer is based on the ability of the 10B isotope to capture thermal neutrons; it is one of the most promising techniques in radiation therapy. The high content and selective accumulation of 10B in the tumor tissue are the most important prerequisites for its efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine the biodistribution of cobalt bis(dicarbollide) conjugates with chlorin e6 amino amide derivatives. Experiments were carried out in Balb/c mice with transplanted CT-26 murine colon carcinoma. Boron-containing conjugates were injected into the tail vein at a dose of 10 mg/kg. The conjugate accumulation in tumor tissue and organs was studied by laser scanning microscopy. Excitation was performed at the wavelength of 514 nm; the signals were recorded in the range of 560–710 nm in increments of 10 nm. To evaluate the amount of the boron conjugate, we calculated the intensity of the fluorescence signal of the samples under investigation. At 3 h after administration of the agent, a high level of fluorescence was observed in the liver, spleen, and lung. The tumor/muscle accumulation ratio was approximately 3. The study demonstrated that boron derivatives of chlorin e6 are promising agents for boron neutron-capture therapy.  相似文献

We synthesized new hydrophilic chlorin e6 derivatives with two and four galactose fragments conjugated to the macrocycle via carbon atom in position 6 of the galactose fragment. Galactose fragments were inserted by alkylation of the amino groups of chlorin e6 amides with one and two ethylene diamine fragments on the macrocycle periphery with triflate of diacetone galactose, followed by removal of diisopropylidene protection by 70% aqueous trifluoroacetic acid. The synthesized compounds were shown to be capable of penetrating the membrane of HeLa cells; they have intense red fluorescence inside the cell and have phototoxic properties towards HeLa cells (upon LED irradiation at 660 nm and light exposure value of 12 J/cm2). These properties, along with water solubility, allow us to consider the synthesized compounds to be promising as potential antitumor PSs and diagnostic compounds for visualizing malignant tumors and creating on their basis preparations for simultaneous diagnostics and therapy of oncological diseases.  相似文献

Herein we describe the design, efficient synthesis, and photophysical properties of two macrocycle dyes for cancer theranostics. This study compares a glycosylated chlorin with a glycosylated phthalocyanine designed to specifically target cancer, wherein the photophysical properties enable both fluorescence imaging and the sensitization of the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) for photodynamic therapy. Both the compounds show low darktoxicity (IC50 > 100 μM). The glycosylated phthalocyanine showed low phototoxicity (IC50 > 100 μM) while glycosylated chlorin showed high phototoxicity (IC50 = 1–2 μM). ZnPcGlc8 has low solubility and also form aggregates in aqueous media, thus resulting in minimal uptake in two different human breast cancer cell lines: MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7. The glycosylated chlorin however was efficiently taken up by these two cell lines, thus allows fluorescence imaging in cells and in xenograft tumor model in mice. In this study, we find that the chlorin conjugate is the more promising theranostic agent.  相似文献

Spore formation is a sophisticated mechanism by which some bacteria survive conditions of stress and starvation by producing a multilayered protective capsule enclosing their condensed DNA. Spores are highly resistant to damage by heat, radiation, and commonly employed antibacterial agents. Previously, spores have also been shown to be resistant to photodynamic inactivation using dyes and light that easily destroy the corresponding vegetative bacteria. We have discovered that Bacillus spores are susceptible to photoinactivation by phenothiazinium dyes and low doses of red light. Dimethylmethylene blue, methylene blue, new methylene blue, and toluidine blue O are all effective, while alternative photosensitizers such as Rose Bengal, polylysine chlorin(e6) conjugate, a tricationic porphyrin, and a benzoporphyrin derivative, which easily kill vegetative cells, are ineffective. Spores of Bacillus cereus and B. thuringiensis are most susceptible, B. subtilis and B. atrophaeus are also killed, and B. megaterium is resistant. Photoinactivation is most effective when excess dye is washed from the spores, showing that the dye binds to the spores and that excess dye in solution can quench light delivery. The relatively mild conditions needed for spore killing could have applications for treating wounds contaminated by anthrax spores, for which conventional sporicides would have unacceptable tissue toxicity.  相似文献

We have explored the intracellular cell organelle's structural alterations after photodynamic treatment with chlorin p6-histamine conjugate (Cp6-his) in human oral cancer cells. Herein, the cells were treated with Cp6-his (10 μm) and counterstained with organelle-specific fluorescence probes to find the site of intracellular localization using confocal microscopy. For photodynamic therapy (PDT), the cells were exposed to ~30 kJ/m2 red light (660 ± 20 nm) to induce ~90% cytotoxicity. We used the three-dimensional (3D) image reconstruction approach to analyze the photodynamic damage to cell organelles. The result showed that Cp6-his localized mainly in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and lysosomes but not in mitochondria and Golgi apparatus (GA). The 3D model revealed that in necrotic cells, PDT led to extensive fragmentation of ER and fragmentation and swelling of GA as well. Results suggest that the indirect damage to GA occurred due to loss of connection between ER and GA. Moreover, in damaged cells with no sign of necrosis, the perinuclear ER appeared condensed and surrounded by several small clumps at the peripheral region of the cell, and the GA was observed to form a single condensed structure. Since these structural changes were associated with apoptotic cell death, it is suggested that the necrotic and apoptotic death induced by PDT with Cp6-his is determined by the severity of damage to ER and indirect damage to GA. The results suggest that the indirect damage to cell organelle apart from the sites of photosensitizer localization and the severity of damage at the organelle level contribute significantly to the mode of cell death in PDT.  相似文献

Amphiphilic aminoglycoside derivatives are potential new antimicrobial agents mostly developed to fight resistant bacteria. The mechanism of action of the 3′,6-dinonyl neamine, one of the most promising derivative, has been investigated on Gram-negative bacteria, including P. aeruginosa. In this study, we have assessed its mechanism of action against Gram-positive bacteria, S. aureus and B. subtilis. By conducting time killing experiments, we assessed the bactericidal effect induced by 3′,6-dinonyl neamine on S. aureus MSSA and MRSA. By measuring the displacement of BODIPY?-TR cadaverine bound to lipoteichoic acids (LTA), we showed that 3′,6-dinonyl neamine interacts with these bacterial surface components. We also highlighted the ability of 3′,6-dinonyl neamine to enhance membrane depolarization and induce membrane permeability, by using fluorescent probes, DiSC3C(5) and propidium iodide, respectively. These effects are observed for both MSSA and MRSA S. aureus as well as for B. subtilis. By electronic microscopy, we imaged the disruption of membrane integrity of the bacterial cell wall and by fluorescence microscopy, we demonstrated changes in the localization of lipids from the enriched-septum region and the impairment of the formation of septum. At a glance, we demonstrated that 3′,6-dinonyl neamine interferes with multiple targets suggesting a low ability of bacteria to acquire resistance to this agent. In turn, the amphiphilic neamine derivatives are promising candidates for development as novel multitarget therapeutic antibiotics.  相似文献

A novel 131-pyridine substituted chlorin e6 derivative (Chlorin A) was synthesized. It has characteristic long wavelength absorption at 664?nm and the emission wavelength at 667?nm. The generation rate of singlet oxygen of this compound is higher than Temoporfin. In vitro, Chlorin A showed higher phototoxicity against the human esophageal cancer cells than Temoporfin while with lower dark-toxicity. Its accumulation effect in mitochondria, lysosomes and endoplasmic reticulum was traced in subcellular localization tests. In flow cytometry obvious apoptosis cells were observed after 2?h irradiation. Significant in vivo photodynamic anti-tumor efficacy was also exhibited on mice bearing esophageal cancer. So Chlorin A could be suggested as a promising anti-tumor drug candidate in photodynamic therapy.  相似文献

The chemical nature of the sensitizer and its selective uptake by malignant cells are decisive to choose an appropriate biocompatible carrier, able to preserve the photosensitizing characteristics of the dye. In this paper we demonstrate the photodynamic properties of three chlorins, derived from chlorophyll a, and the usefulness of liposomal carriers to design pharmaceutical formulations. The chlorins have been quantitatively incorporated into stable liposomes obtained from a mixture of l-α-palmitoyloleoylphosphatidylcholine and l-α-dioleoylphosphatidylserine in a 13.5:1.5 molar ratio (POPC/OOPS-liposomes). The chlorin uptake by skin fibroblasts increases steadily, reaching in all cases a plateau level dependent on both the chlorin structure and the vehicle employed. The photophysical properties of the three chlorins in THF are nearly identical and fulfill the requirements for a PDT photosensitizer. Incorporation of chlorins into liposomes induces important changes in their photophysics, but does not impair their cellular uptake or their cell photosensitization ability. In fact we observe in the cells the same photophysical behavior as in THF solution. Specifically, we demonstrate, by recording the near-IR phosphorescence of 1O2, that the chlorins are able to photosensitize the production of 1O2 in the cell membrane. The cell-photosensitization efficiency depended on the chlorin and cell line nature, the carrier, and the length of pre-incubation and post-irradiation periods. The high photodynamic activity of chlorin-loaded liposomes and the possibility to design liposomal carriers to achieve a specific target site favors this approach to obtain an eventual pharmaceutical formulation.  相似文献

The majority of cancers arise from malignant epithelial cells. We report the design of synthetic oligonucleotides (aptamers) that are only internalized by epithelial cancer cells and can be precisely activated by light to kill such cells. Specifically, phototoxic DNA aptamers were selected to bind to unique short O-glycan-peptide signatures on the surface of breast, colon, lung, ovarian and pancreatic cancer cells. These surface antigens are not present on normal epithelial cells but are internalized and routed through endosomal and Golgi compartments by cancer cells, thus providing a focused mechanism for their intracellular delivery. When modified at their 5′ end with the photodynamic therapy agent chlorin e6 and delivered to epithelial cancer cells, these aptamers exhibited a remarkable enhancement (>500-fold increase) in toxicity upon light activation, compared to the drug alone and were not cytotoxic towards cell types lacking such O-glycan-peptide markers. Our findings suggest that these synthetic oligonucleotide aptamers can serve as delivery vehicles in precisely routing cytotoxic cargoes to and into epithelial cancer cells.  相似文献

The methylated soybean protein and methylated chickpea protein (MSP and MCP) with isoelectric points around pI 8 were prepared by esterifying 83 % of their free carboxyl groups and tested for their interactions with Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella Enteritidis. The two substances exhibited a concentration-dependent inhibitory action against the two studied bacteria with a minimum inhibitory concentration of about 100 μg/mL. The IC50 % of the two proteins against L. monocytogenes (17 μg/mL) was comparable to penicillin but comparatively much lower (15 μg/mL) than that of penicillin (85 μg/mL) against S. Enteritidis. The two proteins could inhibit the growth of L. monocytogenes and S. Enteritidis by about 97 and 91 %, respectively, after 6–12 h of incubation at 37 °C. The constituting subunits of MSP (methylated 11S and methylated 7S) were both responsible for its antimicrobial action. Transmission electron microscopy of the protein-treated bacteria showed various signs of cellular deformation. The cationic proteins can electrostatically and hydrophobically interact with cell wall and cell membrane, producing large pores, pore channels and cell wall and cell membrane disintegration, engendering higher cell permeability leading finally to cell emptiness, lysis and death.  相似文献

Background

Apoptotic cascades may frequently be impaired in tumor cells; therefore, the approaches to circumvent these obstacles emerge as important therapeutic modalities.

Methodology/Principal Findings

Our novel derivatives of chlorin e6, that is, its amide (compound 2) and boronated amide (compound 5) evoked no dark toxicity and demonstrated a significantly higher photosensitizing efficacy than chlorin e6 against transplanted aggressive tumors such as B16 melanoma and M-1 sarcoma. Compound 5 showed superior therapeutic potency. Illumination with red light of mammalian tumor cells loaded with 0.1 µM of 5 caused rapid (within the initial minutes) necrosis as determined by propidium iodide staining. The laser confocal microscopy-assisted analysis of cell death revealed the following order of events: prior to illumination, 5 accumulated in Golgi cysternae, endoplasmic reticulum and in some (but not all) lysosomes. In response to light, the reactive oxygen species burst was concomitant with the drop of mitochondrial transmembrane electric potential, the dramatic changes of mitochondrial shape and the loss of integrity of mitochondria and lysosomes. Within 3–4 min post illumination, the plasma membrane became permeable for propidium iodide. Compounds 2 and 5 were one order of magnitude more potent than chlorin e6 in photodamage of artificial liposomes monitored in a dye release assay. The latter effect depended on the content of non-saturated lipids; in liposomes consisting of saturated lipids no photodamage was detectable. The increased therapeutic efficacy of 5 compared with 2 was attributed to a striking difference in the ability of these photosensitizers to permeate through hydrophobic membrane interior as evidenced by measurements of voltage jump-induced relaxation of transmembrane current on planar lipid bilayers.

Conclusions/Significance

The multimembrane photodestruction and cell necrosis induced by photoactivation of 2 and 5 are directly associated with membrane permeabilization caused by lipid photodamage.  相似文献

Infections with Gram-negative bacteria form an increasing risk for human health due to antibiotic resistance. Our immune system contains various antimicrobial proteins that can degrade the bacterial cell envelope. However, many of these proteins do not function on Gram-negative bacteria, because the impermeable outer membrane of these bacteria prevents such components from reaching their targets. Here we show that complement-dependent formation of Membrane Attack Complex (MAC) pores permeabilizes this barrier, allowing antimicrobial proteins to cross the outer membrane and exert their antimicrobial function. Specifically, we demonstrate that MAC-dependent outer membrane damage enables human lysozyme to degrade the cell wall of E. coli. Using flow cytometry and confocal microscopy, we show that the combination of MAC pores and lysozyme triggers effective E. coli cell wall degradation in human serum, thereby altering the bacterial cell morphology from rod-shaped to spherical. Completely assembled MAC pores are required to sensitize E. coli to the antimicrobial actions of lysozyme and other immune factors, such as Human Group IIA-secreted Phospholipase A2. Next to these effects in a serum environment, we observed that the MAC also sensitizes E. coli to more efficient degradation and killing inside human neutrophils. Altogether, this study serves as a proof of principle on how different players of the human immune system can work together to degrade the complex cell envelope of Gram-negative bacteria. This knowledge may facilitate the development of new antimicrobials that could stimulate or work synergistically with the immune system.  相似文献

The worldwide rise in antibiotic resistance necessitates the development of novel antimicrobial strategies. Although many workers have used photodynamic therapy (PDT) to kill bacteria in vitro, the use of this approach has seldom been reported in vivo in animal models of infection. We have previously described the first use of PDT to treat excisional wound infections by Gram-(-) bacteria in living mice. However, these infected wound models involved a short timespan between infection (30 min) and treatment by PDT. We now report on the use of PDT to treat an established soft-tissue infection in mice. We used Staphylococcus aureus stably transformed with a Photorhabdus luminescenslux operon (luxABCDE) that was genetically modified to be functional in Gram-(+) bacteria. These engineered bacteria emitted bioluminescence, allowing the progress of the infection to be monitored in both space and time with a low light imaging charge-coupled device (CCD) camera. One million cells were injected into one or both thigh muscles of mice that had previously been rendered neutropenic by cyclophosphamide administration. Twenty-four hours later, the bacteria had multiplied more than one hundredfold; poly-L-lysine chlorin e6 conjugate or free chlorin e6 was injected into one area of infected muscle and imaged with the CCD camera. Thirty minutes later, red light from a diode laser was delivered as a surface spot or by interstitial fiber into the infection. There was a light dose dependent loss of bioluminescence (to <5% of that seen in control infections) not seen in untreated infections or those treated with light alone, but in some cases, the infection recurred. Treatment with conjugate alone led to a lesser reduction in bioluminescence. Infections treated with free chlorin e6 responded less well and the infection subsequently increased over the succeeding days, probably due to PDT-mediated tissue damage. PDT-treated infected legs healed better than legs with untreated infections. This data shows that PDT may have applications in drug-resistant soft-tissue infections.  相似文献

Nisin is a lanthionine antimicrobial effective against diverse Gram-positive bacteria and is used as a food preservative worldwide. Its action is mediated by pyrophosphate recognition of the bacterial cell wall receptors lipid II and undecaprenyl pyrophosphate. Nisin/receptor complexes disrupt cytoplasmic membranes, inhibit cell wall synthesis and dysregulate bacterial cell division. Gram-negative bacteria are much more tolerant to antimicrobials including nisin. In contrast to Gram-positives, Gram-negative bacteria possess an outer membrane, the major constituent of which is lipopolysaccharide (LPS). This contains surface exposed phosphate and pyrophosphate groups and hence can be targeted by nisin. Here we describe the impact of LPS on membrane stability in response to nisin and the molecular interactions occurring between nisin and membrane-embedded LPS from different Gram-negative bacteria. Dye release from liposomes shows enhanced susceptibility to nisin in the presence of LPS, particularly rough LPS chemotypes that lack an O-antigen whereas LPS from microorganisms sharing similar ecological niches with antimicrobial producers provides only modest enhancement. Increased susceptibility was observed with LPS from pathogenic Klebsiella pneumoniae compared to LPS from enteropathogenic Salmonella enterica and gut commensal Escherichia coli. LPS from Brucella melitensis, an intra-cellular pathogen which is adapted to invade professional and non-professional phagocytes, appears to be refractory to nisin. Molecular complex formation between nisin and LPS was studied by solid state MAS NMR and revealed complex formation between nisin and LPS from most organisms investigated except B. melitensis. LPS/nisin complex formation was confirmed in outer membrane extracts from E. coli.  相似文献

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) constitute a diverse class of naturally occurring or synthetic antimicrobial molecules that have potential for use in the treatment of drug-resistant infections. Several undesirable properties of AMPs, however, may ultimately hinder their development as antimicrobial agents. Thus, new synthetic strategies, including primarily the de novo design of AMPs, urgently need to be developed. In this study, a series of peptides, H-(RWL) n (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5), were designed. H represents GLRPKYS from the C-terminal sequence of AvBD-4. Our results showed that these RWL-tagged peptides can kill not only bacteria but also human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells. However, the peptide tagged with two repeats of RWL (GW13) showed less affinity to human embryonic lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells or human red blood cells (hRBCs) than HepG2 cells. These results demonstrated that GW13, with high amphiphilicity, exerted great selectivity toward bacteria and cancer cells, sparing host mammalian cells. The mechanism of action against bacteria was elucidated through combined studies of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fluorescence assays, showing that the peptide possessed membrane-lytic activities against microbial cells. The fluorescence assays illustrated that GW13 induced apoptosis in HepG2 cells. The cell morphology of HepG2 cells, observed by SEM, further illustrated that GW13 causes cell death by damaging the cell membrane. Our results indicate that GW13 has considerable potential for future development as an antimicrobial and antitumor agent.  相似文献

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an established treatment modality, used mainly for anticancer therapy that relies on the interaction of photosensitizer, light and oxygen. For the treatment of pathologies in certain anatomical sites, improved targeting of the photosensitizer is necessary to prevent damage to healthy tissue. We report on a novel dual approach of targeted PDT (vascular and cellular targeting) utilizing the expression of neuropeptide somatostatin receptor (sst2) on tumor and neovascular-endothelial cells. We synthesized two conjugates containing the somatostatin analogue [Tyr3]-octreotate and Chlorin e6 (Ce6): Ce6-K3-[Tyr3]-octreotate (1) and Ce6-[Tyr3]-octreotate-K3-[Tyr3]-octreotate (2). Investigation of the uptake and photodynamic activity of conjugates in-vitro in human erythroleukemic K562 cells showed that conjugation of [Tyr3]-octreotate with Ce6 in conjugate 1 enhances uptake (by a factor 2) in cells over-expressing sst2 compared to wild-type cells. Co-treatment with excess free Octreotide abrogated the phototoxicity of conjugate 1 indicative of a specific sst2-mediated effect. In contrast conjugate 2 showed no receptor-mediated effect due to its high hydrophobicity. When compared with un-conjugated Ce6, the PDT activity of conjugate 1 was lower. However, it showed higher photostability which may compensate for its lower phototoxicity. Intra-vital fluorescence pharmacokinetic studies of conjugate 1 in rat skin-fold observation chambers transplanted with sst2 + AR42J acinar pancreas tumors showed significantly different uptake profiles compared to free Ce6. Co-treatment with free Octreotide significantly reduced conjugate uptake in tumor tissue (by a factor 4) as well as in the chamber neo-vasculature. These results show that conjugate 1 might have potential as an in-vivo sst2 targeting photosensitizer conjugate.  相似文献

Photodynamic inactivation of bioluminescent Escherichia coli in the presence of cationic chlorin and isobacteriochlorin photosensitizers (PSs) obtained from 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-porphyrin is described. The spectroscopic data for the neutral and cationic derivatives and their photophysical characterizations, especially fluorescence and singlet oxygen generation capacity are also reported. The results show that there is a direct relation between the inactivation efficiency and the increasing number of charges on the molecules. The combined effect of higher wavelength absorption and number of positive charges on the PS shows a 6.1 log reduction during the inactivation process. Overall this study shows that the cationic isobacteriochlorin has high potential to be used as PS for the inactivation of Gram (−) bacteria.  相似文献
