A new species, Ericydnus novosibiricus sp. n., is described. The main characters differentiating the new species from the similar E. longicornis Dalman are as follows: female??fore wing noticeably shortened, with almost normally developed veins and rounded apex, marginal vein longer than postmarginal vein, 6th flagellar segment slightly longer than wide, club truncate; male??fore wing noticeably shortened, with almost normally developed veins and pointed apex, flagellar segments subsequently becoming wider toward antennal apex.  相似文献

Alternative schemes for the higher‐level systematics of the centipede order Scolopendromorpha have been established from characters of trunk segmentation, including the segmental position of spiracles, and the presence or absence of eyes. A comparative survey of the preoral chamber by light and scanning electron microscopy contributes 16 new characters of the epipharynx and hypopharynx, sampled from 26 species that represent 20 genera. These new data together with 49 additional morphological characters permit cladistic analysis of the major scolopendromorph groups. The shortest cladograms resolve blind Scolopendromorpha as a basal grade within which a clade now classified as Plutoniuminae + Scolopocryptopidae (supported by unreversed characters from the preoral chamber) is sister to the remaining scolopendromorphs. A unique row of bullet‐shaped sensilla between the labral and clypeal parts of the epipharynx provides a new autapomorphy of the Scolopendromorpha. Either 21 or 23 trunk segments optimize at the base of the Scolopendromorpha but in either case homoplasy is forced on the cladogram. New characters from the epipharynx give additional support for the monophyly of several traditional groupings, including Cryptopinae, Scolopendridae, Otostigmini, and Scolopendrini, and a basal resolution of Asanadini within Scolopendridae. Of the two competing hypotheses for the position of the enigmatic Mediterranean Plutonium zwierleini—being either sister to the cryptopid Theatops or sister to all other Scolopendromorpha—the former hypothesis is strongly supported; spiracles on all trunk segments in Plutonium are homoplastic with the state in Geophilomorpha. Observations on feeding behaviour are needed to illuminate convergence in characters of the epipharynx and mandible in Edentistoma (Otostigminae) and Campylostigmus (Scolopendrini). © The Willi Hennig Society 2008.  相似文献

A comparative survey of the epipharynx and hypopharynx of lithobiomorph centipedes by light and scanning electron microscopy examines 18 species that sample the major groups of both families, the Lithobiidae and Henicopidae. Cladistic analysis of 11 characters of the peristomatic structures together with 29 additional morphological characters serves as a basis for interpreting the evolution of the lithobiomorph peristomatic structures. Scutigeromorpha is used for outgroup comparison in the framework of a homology scheme for the basic components of the epi- and hypopharynx. Compared to other chilopods, the monophyly of Lithobiomorpha is supported by a row of distinctive bottle-shaped gland openings at the border between the labral and clypeal parts of the epipharynx, as well as by a distinctive shape of the hypopharynx. Paired rows of elongate spines on the clypeal part of the epipharynx are an apomorphic character of Lithobiidae. The transformation of these spine rows into a few groups of branching spines is characteristic for the Monotarsobius group sensu Verhoeff. Similar groups of branching clypeal spines characterize the Anopsobiinae within Henicopidae, whereas Henicopinae possess a dense cluster of short, simple spines instead. The recently described genus Dzhungaria is resolved closer to Henicopinae than to Anopsobiinae, a hypothesis supported by a field of grooves on the medial labral part of the epipharynx. Monophyly of Henicopidae does not receive unique support from the peristomatic structures although two homoplastic characters contribute to this node; among these, the reduction of a median spine field between clypeal and labral parts of the epipharynx to a narrow transverse band also supports a close relationship between the Ezembius group and Hessebius within Lithobiidae. An Ezembius+Hessebius clade is additionally supported by the absence of a transverse bulge between the clypeal and labral parts of the epipharynx, a character otherwise present in all lithobiomorph species studied so far. Lithobius is resolved as polyphyletic, with different species being most closely related to such genera as Australobius, Hessebius and Pleurolithobius.  相似文献

Osflintia manu, new genus, new species, of long-horned caddisfly (Leptoceridae: Triplectidinae: Grumichellini) is described and illustrated from southeastern Peru. The phylogeny of Grumichellini Morse (Leptoceridae: Triplectidinae) is revisited and hypotheses of homology of some morphological characters are reconsidered. The monophyly of the tribe is corroborated and the phylogenetic relationships of its included genera are inferred to be (Triplexa (Gracilipsodes ((Grumichella, Amazonatolica) (Atanatolica, Osflintia, n. gen.)))) from adult and larval characters. Diagnostic characters of the new genus include the following: reduced tibial spur formula (2, 2, 2), loss of forewing crossvein sc-r1, hind wing discoidal cell closed, hind wing fork IV present, pair of long setae on tergum IX of the male genitalia, and pair of processes on the apex of segment X.  相似文献

The larval development of Pitho aculeata is described and illustrated in detail. The characters described are used to discuss recent molecular phylogenetic findings suggesting that Pitho is a genus in Mithracidae sensu stricto. Based on species with known larval development, our results indicate that Pitho shares more similarities with mithracids than epialtids and therefore it should be included in the former family. Presently, there appear to be no diagnostic characteristics for the zoeal stages; however, for the megalopa the fused antennal articles 5 and 6 and the distinct number of setae on the abdominal somites 1–5 can be used to differentiate Pitho from other majoideans.  相似文献

Abstract This paper deals with a new species of Iowana Hottes, Icrwana zhangi, sp. nov. in China. This new species is closely related to J. frisoni, but differs from the latter in the shape of cauda, length of processus terminalis, length of ultimate rostral segment, and as well as in having smooth siphunculi, having 6‐segmented antennae and primary rhinarium with accessory rhinaria on the ultimate antennal segment. All the type specimens of this new species, collected from Heilongjiang Province, are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.  Chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) restriction site data were used to analyze phylogenetic relationships within Helianthus. Data from new samples were consistent with previous results and showed the genus to be a well-defined (11 site changes) lineage within subtribe Helianthinae. The affinities of 2 species, Viguiera similis and V. phenax (V. ludens) that have sometimes been included in Helianthus were shown to lie outside the genus. The two species of Phoebanthus, however, formed a phylogenetic ingroup to the perennial Helianthus. Within the genus, cpDNA data indicated that there are four distinct phylogenetic lineages. Two of the lineages each contained a single, annual species (H. agrestis and H. porteri, respectively). The remaining annual species collectively formed a third lineage (sect. Helianthus). The fourth lineage contained all of the perennial species, including those of Phoebanthus. Within the perennial lineage, there was little variation in restriction site characters. The 3 species of series Pumili formed a paraphyletic group at the base of the perennial lineage, and the 3 species of series Ciliares formed a group that was supported by a single restriction site character. Classifications in the world's tropics often involve an early and sustained adoption of Holarctic-based patterns. Such is the case of the megadiverse subtribe Philonthina and its Neotropical (NT) members, for which generic limits are ill-defined due to an alleged high level of homoplasy. Although a recent total-evidence study confirmed the monophyly of a NT lineage, most of its species are assigned to the speciose genera Belonuchus Nordmann and Paederomimus Sharp, neither of them monophyletic. Here, we aim to reveal internal relationships within the NT lineage by the reassessment of characters from traditional morphology-based systematics. Specific objectives are to test the monophyly of Belonuchus with regards to its only junior synonym, Musicoderus Sharp, as well as the placement of the six South American species of Hesperus Fauvel, a genus of Holarctic origin. We performed a phylogenetic analysis of the subtribe with focus on its NT lineage based on 132 morphological characters (50 of them novel) including 79 taxa from genera and/or species groups relevant to our study. Most novel characters assessed herein supported clades across Philonthina and its NT lineage. We found that the NT lineage diversified into at least seven clades, each of which provides a framework for future taxonomic studies. Among them, three clades containing the type species of Belonuchus, Paederomimus and Musicoderus (respectively) appear to be well supported and not closely related. The currently known South American species of Hesperus, however, are recovered within the NT lineage. We propose to resurrect Musicoderus from synonymy with Belonuchus and to transfer Hesperus novoteutonicus to Paederomimus as a new combination: Paederomimus novoteutonicus (Wendeler), comb.n .  相似文献

This paper describes new taxa of the earliest Permian ammonoids of the Kolyma-Omolon Region: the genus Kolymoglaphyrites gen. nov. with the type species K. lazarevi sp. nov. and the species Uraloceras margaritae sp. nov., recognized as the Kyrian ammonoid association. Judging from the analysis of the main characters, the genus Kolymoglaphyrites is included in the mainly Carboniferous family Glaphyritidae, which expands the interval of the vertical distribution of this family to include the Sakmarian. Uraloceras margaritae is considered as the initial genus in the lineage of weakly ornamented species of Uraloceras. Apparently, this species evolved from Paragastrioceras sterlitamakense at the Asselian-Sakmarian boundary to become later ancestral for U. simense. Based on the phylogenetic position of U. margaritae the Kyrian ammonoid association is dated as Early Sakmarian.  相似文献

Abstract. A study, based on examination of thirteen scarabaeoid families, was made of 134 adult and larval characters from the following character suites: 105 adult characters of the antennae, eye, epipharynx, mandible, maxillae, labium, tentorium, trochantin, procoxae, mesocoxae, mesothoracic spiracles, hind wing articulation, hind wing base, hind wing venation, hind wing folding, abdominal sternites, abdominal spiracles, male genitalia, ovarioles and karyotype; twenty larval characters of the antennae, fronto-clypeal suture, stemmata, labial palpi, maxillae, mandibles, legs, stridulatory apparatus, spiracles and ecdysial process; and nine adult and larval biological characters. In order to assess the reliability of different characters in resolving scarabaeoid family relationships, six data sets were subjected to cladistic analysis: the total evidence character set (134 characters), restricted adult character set (thirty-two characters, not including those of the wings), wing character set (seventy-three characters), larval character set (twenty characters), biological character set (nine characters) and re-coded Howden (1982) character set (thirty-nine characters). The complete character set and wing character set both produced phylograms with all nodes resolved; the restricted adult data set, larval data set, Howden (1982) data set and biological data set produced phylograms with diminishing levels of node resolution. The reconstructed phylogeny, from the preferred phylogram of the total evidence character set, shows that the Scarabaeoidea comprises three major lineages; a glaresid, passalid and scarabaeid lineage. The glaresid lineage consists only of the Glaresidae. The passalid lineage comprises two major lines; a glaphyrid line (containing Glaphyridae, Passalidae, Lucanidae, Diphyllostomatidae, Trogidae, Bolboceratidae and Pleocomidae) and a geotrupid line (containing Geotrupidae, Ochodaeidae, Ceratocanthidae and Hybosoridae). The scarabaeid lineage contains those taxa traditionally included within the Scarabaeidae (Aphodiinae, Scarabaeinae, Orphninae, Melolonthinae, Acoma, Chasmatopterinae, Hopliinae, Oncerinae, Rutelinae, Dynastinae, Trichiinae, Cetoniinae and Valginae).  相似文献

The antennal morphology and chaetotaxy were studied in 52 species of the endogean carabid genus Typhlocharis, using scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. The antennae are composed of 11 antennomeres (scape, pedicel, and nine flagellomeres). We found considerable variation between species in the third antennomere, with short‐stem and long‐stem forms, and flagellomere morphology, distinguishing two morphs: rounded (subovoid, subspheric and subquadrate, morph 1) and reniform shapes (morph 2). Antennal sensilla are grouped in six types of sensilla trichodea, three types of sensilla basiconica, one type of sensilla coeloconica, and one type of sensilla campaniformia. The distribution of sensilla along the antennomeres is described. The “rings” of trichoid sensilla in the antennomere body are affected by its shape and there is interspecific variation in the pattern of sensilla coeloconica in antennomere 11°, a novelty for the genus. The types of sensilla found in Typhlocharis are compared to those described in other Carabidae and the potential functionality and taxonomic interest of those variable antennal features are discussed. A correlation between the flagellomere morphology and the presence/absence of a stridulatory organ is suggested. Archicupressus is a new genus of the Cupressaceae based on a permineralized conifer female cone from the Upper Cretaceous of Hokkaido. The type species,Archicupressus nihongii sp. nov., is characterized by peltate bract-scale complexes consisting of a completely fused bract and scale bearing erect seeds. Bract-scale complexes are arranged in whorls of three on the cone axis. Each complex has a bristle-like projection, the bract apex, at the top. Affinities to some genera in the Cupressaceae are discussed. Consecutive number from the previous paper (Ohsawaet al., 1992). Typhlocharis is the most diverse eyeless endogean ground beetle genus known to date, with 62 species all endemic to the West Mediterranean region. The lineage is characterized by a conservative and singular body plan within Carabidae that contrasts with a high morphological diversity in many traits. We provide an exhaustive phylogeny of the lineage through the study of 92 morphological characters from all 62 described species and 45 potential new species from 70 additional populations, and the combination of morphological and available molecular data, in the first total evidence phylogenetic approach for a highly diverse endogean lineage. We tracked the evolution of morphological traits over the obtained phylogenies. Results suggest eight morphologically distinct clades, which do not correspond to the species groups proposed formerly. Ancestral state reconstructions and phylogenetic signal analyses of morphological traits revealed that some of the previously key characters to the classification of Typhlocharis, such as the umbilicate series or the apical denticles of elytra, are highly homoplasic, whereas other characters show stronger phylogenetic signal, including structures in the antennae, gula, pronotum and last abdominal ventrite. This evidence supports the split of Typhlocharis into three genera: Lusotyphlus gen. nov. ; Typhlocharis Dieck, 1869 and Microcharidius Coiffait, 1969 (revalidated), forming the subtribe Typhlocharina Jeanne, 1973.  相似文献
