Eight polymorphic microsatellite loci have been characterized for the endangered St Lucia Whiptail Lizard Cnemidophorus vanzoi. Endemic to two small islets, Maria Major and Maria Minor, off the coast of St Lucia, Lesser Antilles, the world population is estimated at < 1000 individuals. However, representatives of the systematically complex genus Cnemidophorus, containing sexual species and parthenogenetic allopolyploids, are distributed widely in North, Central and South America, and on several islands in the Caribbean Sea. These microsatellite markers are being used to monitor the genetic structure of a population of St Lucia Whiptails, recently founded through translocation, on the nearby Praslin Island.  相似文献

The intraspecific phylogeography of Grant’s gazelles Nanger granti was assessed with mitochondrial DNA control region sequences. Samples of 177 individuals from 17 Kenyan and Tanzanian populations were analysed. Three highly divergent, reciprocally monophyletic lineages were found, with among group net nucleotide distances of 8–12%. The three lineages—notata, granti and petersii—grouped populations according to their geographic origin, encompassing populations in the north, southwest, and east, respectively. The mtDNA lineages reflected distinct evolutionary trajectories, and the data are discussed in reference to the four currently recognised subspecies. We suggest Grant’s gazelles be raised to the superspecies Nanger (granti) comprising three taxonomic units corresponding to the three mtDNA lineages. There was no evidence of gene flow between the notata and granti lineages, despite their geographic proximity, suggesting reproductive isolation. These constitute evolutionary significant units within the adaptive evolutionary framework. Due to its restricted geographic distribution and genetic and morphological distinctiveness, we suggest the petersii lineage be raised to the species Nanger (granti) petersii within the Grant’s gazelles superspecies.  相似文献

The European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) is threatened and in decline in several regions of its natural range, due to habitat loss combined with population fragmentation. In this work, we have focused our efforts on studying the genetic diversity and structure of Iberian populations with a fine-scale sampling (254 turtles in 10 populations) and a representation from North Africa and Balearic island populations. Using both nuclear and mitochondrial markers (seven microsatellites, ∼1048 bp nDNA and ∼1500 bp mtDNA) we have carried out phylogenetic and demographic analyses. Our results show low values of genetic diversity at the mitochondrial level although our microsatellite dataset revealed relatively high levels of genetic variability with a latitudinal genetic trend decreasing from southern to northern populations. A moderate degree of genetic differentiation was estimated for Iberian populations (genetic distances, F ST values and clusters in the Bayesian analysis). The results in this study combining mtDNA and nDNA, provide the most comprehensive population genetic data for E. orbicularis in the Iberian Peninsula. Our results suggest that Iberian populations within the Iberian–Moroccan lineage should be considered as a single subspecies with five management units, and emphasize the importance of habitat management rather than population reinforcement (i.e. captive breeding and reintroduction) in this long-lived species.  相似文献

The first case of parasitic association between an eulimid mollusc (Gastropoda, Ptenoglossa) and a comatulid (Echinodermata: Crinoidea) is reported for Antarctica. The mollusc involved in the association is Eulima tumidula Thiele, 1912, which has now been ascribed to the genus Bathycrinicola Bouchet & Warén, 1986, never recognized before in Antarctica. This genus is present only in the NE Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, and encompass species which are specific parasites of the sessile stalked crinoids of the family Bathycrinidae. However, in Antarctica, Bathycrinicola tumidula (Thiele, 1912) exploits the endemic vagile comatulid Notocrinus virilis Mortensen, 1917, and attains the largest known dimensions (∼1 cm) for a Bathycrinicola species. The absence of suitable Bathycrinidae host in modern Antarctic benthic assemblages, as well as the long paleontological history of the genus Notocrinus in Antarctica, suggest a possible ‘host-switch’ phenomenon. This event could reasonably have occurred when many species underwent considerable bathymetric shifts, during the dramatic climatic changes that affected Antarctica.  相似文献

Asian box turtles (genus Cuora, family Geoemydidae) comprise a clade of 12 aquatic and semiaquatic nominate species distributed across southern China and Southeast Asia. Over the last two decades, turtles throughout Asia have been harvested at an unsustainable rate to satisfy demands for food, traditional Chinese medicine, and the pet trade. Consequently, all species of Cuora were recently placed on the IUCN Red List, nine are currently listed as critically endangered by the IUCN, and all species are listed in Appendix II of CITES. We compiled a 67-specimen mitochondrial (∼1,650 base pairs (bp) from two mitochondrial genes) and a 40-specimen nuclear-plus-mitochondrial (∼3,900 bp total, three nuclear introns plus an additional ∼860 bp mitochondrial gene fragment) DNA data set to reconstruct the phylogeny of Cuora species and to assess genetic diversity and species boundaries for several of the most problematic taxa. Our sampling included 23 C. trifasciata, 17 C. zhoui and 1–4 individuals of the remaining 10 species of Cuora. Maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian analyses all recovered similar, well resolved trees. Within the Cuora clade, mitochondrial and nuclear sequence data indicated that both C. zhoui and C. mccordi represent old lineages with little or no history of interspecific gene flow, suggesting that they are good genealogical species. Based on mtDNA, Cuora pani was paraphyletic and C. trifasciata was composed of two highly divergent lineages that were not each other’s closest relatives; both cases of non-monophyly were due to a mtDNA sequence that was widespread and identical in C. aurocapitata, C. pani and C. trifasciata. However, when combined with nuclear DNA results, our data indicate that C. trifasciata is a single, monophyletic taxon, and that mitochondrial introgression and nuclear-mitochondrial pseudogenes have led to a complex pattern of mitochondrial gene relationships that does not reflect species-level histories. Our results imply that captive “assurance colonies” of both C. trifasciata and C. pani should be genotyped to identify pure, non-hybrid members of both taxa, and we recommend that introgressed and pure taxa be managed as independent entities until the full evolutionary histories of these critically endangered turtles are resolved.  相似文献

Legumes as ground cover are regularly planted to increase nitrogen economy of crops and to improve soil. In the present study various clover species were evaluated as vegetative ground cover in nursery field production of micropropagated red birch (Betula pubescensEhrh. f. rubraUlvinen f. nova) in two 2-year experiments. The clover species and cultivars, Trifolium pratenseL. ‘Bjursele’, T. repens L. ‘Jogeva’, T. repens L. ‘Sonja’, T. hybridum L. ‘Frida’, T. incarnatum L. ‘Opolska’, T. resupinatum L. and T. subterraneum L. were compared to grass sod Festuca rubra L. ‘Ensylva’ and to a coverless ground (control). The last one was kept weed free by hand hoeing. Birch (leaves, stems, branches and roots) and soil nutrient concentrations (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Fe) were analysed and nutrient ratios in birch determined. The annual clovers, T. incarnatumL., T. resupinatumL. and T. subterraneumL., provided about the same nutrient status in birch as did the control. Perennial clovers and grass were strong competitors with trees. High levels of P and Mg in birch leaves relative to N concentration were typical for poorly growing seedlings. Neither annual nor perennial clovers did generally improve soil nutrient status. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We analyzed mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) restriction-site variation in bananaquit (Coereba flaveola; Aves, Coerebinae) populations sampled on 12 Caribbean islands and at 5 continental localities in Central America and northern South America. Multiple fixed restriction-site differences genetically defined several regional bananaquit populations. An mtDNA clade representing all Jamaican bananaquits was the most divergent; the estimated average sequence divergence (dxy) between Jamaican and all other mtDNA haplotypes surveyed was 0.027. Three groups of populations, representing Central America, northern South America, and the eastern Antilles (Puerto Rico to Grenada) were nearly equally differentiated among themselves (average dxy = 0.014), and may represent a single, recent range expansion. Within the eastern Antilles, three geographically restricted haplotype groups were identified: Puerto Rico, north-central Lesser Antilles (U.S. Virgin Islands to St. Lucia), and Grenada–St. Vincent. The evolutionary relationships of these groups were not clear. Genetic homogeneity of the island populations from the U.S. Virgin Islands to St. Lucia suggested a recent spread of a specific north-central Lesser Antillean haplotype through most of those islands. Haplotype variation across this region indicated that this spread may have occurred in two waves, first through the southernmost islands of St. Lucia, Martinique, and Dominica, and more recently from Guadeloupe to the north. The geographic distribution of mtDNA haplotypes, and of bananaquit populations, suggests periods of invasiveness followed by relative geographic quiescence. Although most genetic studies of bird populations have revealed homogeneity over large geographic areas, our findings provide a remarkable counterexample of strong geographic structuring of mtDNA variation over relatively small distances. Furthermore, although the mtDNA data were consistent with several subspecific distinctions, it was clear that named subspecies do not define equally differentiated evolutionary entities.  相似文献

The type specimens of platycephalid Platycephalus endrachtensis Quoy and Gaimard 1825 are regarded as being conspecific with Platycephalus arenarius Ramsay and Ogilby 1886, so the latter becomes a junior synonym. This species is characterized as having a caudal fin with four or more longitudinal dark bands and lacking a yellow blotch. It is also found that Platycephalus westraliae (Whitley 1938), which had been considered to be a junior synonym of Platycephalus bassensis Cuvier 1829, is a valid species. Specimens that recently had been mistakenly identified as “P. endrachtensis,” having the caudal fin with three or four longitudinal dark bands and a yellow blotch on the upper lobe, should be referred to P. westraliae.  相似文献

Detailed analysis of Darwin’s scientific notes and other writings from the Beagle voyage reveals a focus on endemism and replacement of allied taxa in time and in space that began early in the journey. Though it is impossible to determine exactly when Darwin became a transmutationist, the evidence suggests that he was conversant with the transmutational ideas of Lamarck and others and testing (“experimenting” with) them—before he received a copy of Lyell’s Principles of Geology, vol. 2, in November 1832, in which Lyell describes and disputes Lamarck’s theory. To the two rhea species of Patagonia and the four mockingbird species of the Galapagos, we can now add the living Patagonian cavy (rodent) species, and its extinct putatively related species that Darwin collected at Monte Hermoso (Bahia Blanca) in the Fall of 1832, as a replacement pattern absolutely critical to the development of Darwin’s transmutational thinking. Darwin developed his first transmutational theory by adopting “Brocchi’s analogy” (Rudwick 2008)—i.e. that births and deaths of species are analogous to the births and deaths of individuals. Births and deaths of species, as of individuals, are thus explicable in terms of natural causes. Darwin explored these themes and the replacement of the extinct cavy by the modern species explicitly in his February 1835 essay (Darwin 1835a).

Huey and Slatkin’s (Q Rev Biol 51:363–384, 1976) cost–benefit model of lizard thermoregulation predicts variation in thermoregulatory strategies (from active thermoregulation to thermoconformity) with respect to the costs and benefits of the thermoregulatory behaviour and the thermal quality of the environment. Although this framework has been widely employed in correlative field studies, experimental tests aiming to evaluate the model are scarce. We conducted laboratory experiments to see whether the common lizard Zootoca vivipara, an active and effective thermoregulator in the field, can alter its thermoregulatory behaviour in response to differences in perceived predation risk and food supply in a constant thermal environment. Predation risk and food supply were represented by chemical cues of a sympatric snake predator and the lizards’ food in the laboratory, respectively. We also compared males and postpartum females, which have different preferred or “target” body temperatures. Both sexes thermoregulated actively in all treatments. We detected sex-specific differences in the way lizards adjusted their accuracy of thermoregulation to the treatments: males were less accurate in the predation treatment, while no such effects were detected in females. Neither sex reacted to the food treatment. With regard to the two main types of thermoregulatory behaviour (activity and microhabitat selection), the treatments had no significant effects. However, postpartum females were more active than males in all treatments. Our results further stress that increasing physiological performance by active thermoregulation has high priority in lizard behaviour, but also shows that lizards can indeed shift their accuracy of thermoregulation in response to costs with possible immediate negative fitness effects (i.e. predation-caused mortality).  相似文献

DNA fragments containing argK-tox clusters and their flanking regions were cloned from the chromosomes of Pseudomonas syringae pathovar (pv.) actinidiae strain KW-11 (ACT) and P. syringae pv. phaseolicola strain MAFF 302282 (PHA), and then their sequences were determined. Comparative analysis of these sequences and the sequences of P. syringae pv. tomato DC3000 (TOM) (Buell et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 100:10181–10186, 2003) and pv. syringae B728a (SYR) (Feil et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 102:11064–11069, 2005) revealed that the chromosomal backbone regions of ACT and TOM shared a high similarity to each other but presented a low similarity to those of PHA and SYR. Nevertheless, almost-identical DNA regions of about 38 kb were confirmed to be present on the chromosomes of both ACT and PHA, which we named “tox islands.” The facts that the GC content of such tox islands was 6% lower than that of the chromosomal backbone regions of P. syringae, and that argK-tox clusters, which are considered to be of exogenous origin based on our previous studies (Sawada et al., J Mol Evol 54:437–457, 2002), were confirmed to be contained within the tox islands, suggested that the tox islands were an exogenous, mobile genetic element inserted into the chromosomes of P. syringae strains. It was also predicted that the tox islands integrated site-specifically into the homologous sites of the chromosomes of ACT and PHA in the same direction, respectively, wherein 34 common gene coding sequences (CDSs) existed. Furthermore, at the left end of the tox islands were three CDSs, which encoded polypeptides and had similarities to the members of the tyrosine recombinase family, suggesting that these putative site-specific recombinases were involved in the recent horizontal transfer of tox islands. The Seychelles is a remarkably interesting archipelago for evolutionary studies, but only recently have molecular markers been used to explore its biogeographic patterns. Here we used morphological and molecular data to examine diversity and phylogenetic relationships of two endemic skink sister‐species from this archipelago: Trachylepis sechellensis and Trachylepis wrightii. Mitochondrial DNA genealogy rendered a monophyletic T. wrightii nested within a paraphyletic T. sechellensis, whereas nuclear DNA sequences from five unlinked markers reflected the accepted taxonomy. Hybridization and massive mtDNA introgression leading to the complete replacement of the native mtDNA lineage of T. sechellensis in some of the islands were invoked to explain this result, and morphological variation also seemed to reflect this pattern of reticulation. A Mio‐Pliocene divergence between both species is suggested. Multilocus molecular data were used to uncover biogeographic patterns within the archipelago, which reflected shared patterns with other co‐distributed lizard taxa; specifically a north–south marked structure, a close relationship between populations from Fregate and the southern islands, and a detectable isolation within the southern group, between Mahé, and Silhouette and North Islands. Gene flow from these latter islands towards the northern group was also suggested. These results add to the growing body of evidence of the influence of geographic distance and sea‐level oscillations in shaping the genetic structure of Seychellois taxa and of the existence of common biogeographic patterns across the archipelago.  相似文献

Conchospore germlings of Porphyra yezoensis were stained with a fluorescent dye for DNA and observed with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Relative DNA values of the germling nuclei were obtained by measuring fluorescence intensities of nuclear regions of the optically sliced specimens, using the mean value of the smallest blade cells as a reference of the genomic n value. Such quantification revealed that the nuclear DNA amounts of the one-cell, two-cell, and four-cell-stage germlings are approximately 4 × n, 2 × n, and n ∼2 × n values respectively; these values agreed well with the expected ones from the hypothesis that meiosis corresponds to the first successive cell divisions after the conchospore germination. These results are consistent with a previous study on cytogenetic analysis of the chimaera blade formation (Ohme and Miura 1988, Plant Sci 57:135–140) and not consistent with a recent microscopic study (Wang et al. 2006, Phycol Res 54:201–207) which proposed that the first meiotic division occurs at the conchospore formation and the second division at the germination.  相似文献

Dysosma pleiantha, an important threatened medicinal plant species, is restricted in distribution to southeastern China. The species is capable of reproducing both sexually and asexually. In this study, inter-simple sequence repeat marker data were obtained and analyzed with respect to genetic variation and genetic structure. The extent of clonality, together with the clonal and sexual reproductive strategies, varied among sites, and the populations under harsh ecological conditions tended to have large clones with relatively low clonal diversity caused by vegetative reproduction. The ramets sharing the same genotype show a clumped distribution. Across all populations surveyed, average within-population diversity was remarkably low (e.g., 0.111 for Nei’s gene diversity), with populations from the nature reserves maintaining relatively high amounts of genetic diversity. Among all populations, high genetic differentiation (AMOVA: ΦST = 0.500; Nei’s genetic diversity: G ST = 0.465, Bayesian analysis: ΦB = 0.436) was detected, together with an isolation-by-distance pattern. Low seedling recruitment due to inbreeding, restricted gene flow, and genetic drift are proposed as determinant factors responsible for the low genetic diversity and high genetic differentiation observed.  相似文献

Cryptic species are common among protists and have long been known in ciliates. The ciliate genus Tetrahymena contains a large group of morphologically indistinguishable species referred to as the ‘T. pyriformis’ complex. These species include those reproductively isolated by mating type as well as asexual species characterized by the absence of the germinal micronucleus. This paper examines the molecular diversity of the species and describes the biogeography of ‘T. pyriformis’ species. Most species are globally distributed, though the best studied species, T. thermophila, is confined to North America and gives evidence of population structure in local populations. Selfers and asexual species are common and arise from sexual species, a possible exploitation of nuclear dimorphism. It is argued that the cryptic species likely have different ecological roles and that the biodiversity of Tetrahymena in particular, and ciliates in general, is underestimated. Progress in the Caribbean Amblyomma Program (CAP) is reviewed since its inception in 1995 when regional eradication activities for Amblyomma variegatum ticks were initiated using Bayticol pour-on. Technical achievements in the various islands were slow initially, and showed a wide diversity in attaining eradication targets. St. Kitts, considered as a model program, eliminated the tropical Bont tick (TBT) from most of the island in less than 3 years. However, the elimination of very low numbers of residual adult TBT that persisted in three ‘hot-spots’ took another 3 years. A similar problem was faced in St. Lucia, although the approach there was to cull the wild cattle in the last remaining hot-spot. Both islands were certified as ‘Provisionally free from TBT’ in November 2001. In 2002, Anguilla and Montserrat attained the same status, and Barbados and Dominica also qualify for certification. Certification is based on strict, three-monthly, surveillance criteria: essentially, two successive TBT-free surveillance rounds on a statistically acceptable sample of the livestock population. Within the responsibility of the CAP, three islands remain TBT-infested, Antigua, Nevis, and St. Martin/St. Maarten. Nevis is of concern because it has been operational since late 1995, and appears unable to resolve the problem of treating stray small ruminants. Current funding should be adequate to complete eradication on Nevis and in St. Martin/St. Maarten. The major outstanding challenge is Antigua. In comparison to other islands they have the largest number of livestock, and have much larger populations than originally reported: sheep and goats are 4–5-fold higher, and cattle are 1.35-fold higher. The cost for Bayticol is, therefore, almost double and an additional US$ 1.5 million is required for that commodity alone. The aim of this work was to analyse those characteristics of the Atlantic coast that are associated with distribution, abundance and breeding activity of Otaria flavescens at three ecological scales. We followed a research strategy that consists in looking at the variables that are associated with the pattern of distribution at regional and landscape scales, instead of following local population in time. We used bibliographic data of censuses carried out between 1946 and 1997 and a Geographic Information System (GIS) to integrate information proceeding from censuses and different environmental variables. At a regional scale, we found that the distribution of breeding colonies did not vary in the period of time analysed and was associated with the pattern of occupation of the coast and the tide width. There was a significant decrease in abundance between 1946 and 1997. In north-central Patagonia, the segment of coast with the highest number of sea lions in Argentina, distribution of colonies was associated with islands availability and negatively correlated with places were anthropogenic disturbance was high. At a local scale, breeding colonies were positive associated with slight slope coasts and negatively associated to rocky beaches. We identify those characteristics of the coast associated with distribution of breeding colonies of O. flavescens, which operate at different ecological and temporal scales. Handling editor: K. The patterns of MHC diversity were studied at UAA and DAB1 loci and the two domains involved in the recognition of antigenic peptides (α2 and β1, respectively) in eight Ladigesocypris ghigii populations inhabiting streams and a concrete reservoir, in order to understand the significance of these genes in bottlenecked populations of an endemic species and develop conservation rationale. In agreement with previous study employing RAPD and mtDNA markers (Mamuris et al., Freshw Biol 50:1441–1453, 2005), both loci exhibited a very low level of polymorphism with only two and four alleles detected for UAA and DAB1, respectively. The functional MHC diversity was even lower since UAA alleles were distinguished by a single synonymous substitution. The type of habitat did not affect the level of polymorphism. Our data suggest that DAB1 polymorphism might be the outcome of the positive selection, imposed by the temporal and spatial variation of pathogen load, and the genetic drift as a result of successive habitat shrinkage and deterioration by water abstraction year after year. The populations studied were significantly less diverged at MHC loci than expected based on nuclear and mtDNA markers, suggesting that common parasites might act as causative factors to homogenize selection. Sufficient epidemiological data are required for the interpretation of the results and decision-making on suitable conservation actions.  相似文献

Giambattista Brocchi’s (1814) monograph (see Dominici, Evo Edu Outreach, this issue, 2010) on the Tertiary fossils of the Subappenines in Italy—and their relation to the living molluscan fauna—contains a theoretical, transmutational perspective (“Brocchian transmutation”). Unlike Lamarck (1809), Brocchi saw species as discrete and fundamentally stable entities. Explicitly analogizing the births and deaths of species with those of individual organisms (“Brocchi’s analogy”), Brocchi proposed that species have inherent longevities, eventually dying of old age unless driven to extinction by external forces. As for individuals, births and deaths of species are understood to have natural causes; sequences of births and deaths of species produce genealogical lineages of descent, and faunas become increasingly modernized through time. Brocchi calculated that over 50% of his fossil species are still alive in the modern fauna. Brocchi’s work was reviewed by Horner (1816) in Edinburgh. Brocchi’s influence as a transmutational thinker is clear in Jameson’s (1827) “geological illustrations” in his fifth edition of his translation of Cuvier’s Theory of the Earth (read by his student Charles Darwin) and in the anonymous essays of 1826 and 1827 published in the Edinburgh New Philosophical Journal—which also carried a notice of Brocchi’s death in 1827. The notion that new species replace older, extinct ones—in what today would be called an explicitly phylogenetic context—permeates these essays. Herschel’s (1830) discussion of temporal replacement of species and the modernization of faunas closely mirrors these prior discussions. His book, dedicated to the search for natural causes of natural phenomena, was read by Charles Darwin while a student at Cambridge. Darwin’s work on HMS Beagle was in large measure an exploration of replacement patterns of “allied forms” of endemic species in time and in space. His earliest discussions of transmutation, in his essay February 1835, as well as the Red Notebook and the early pages of Notebook B (the latter two written in 1837 back in England), contain Brocchi’s analogy, including the idea of inherent species longevities. Darwin’s first theory of the origin of species was explicitly saltational, invoking geographic isolation as the main cause of the abrupt appearance of new species. We conclude that Darwin was testing the predicted patterns of both Brocchian and Lamarckian transmutation as early as 1832 at the outset of his work on the Beagle.  相似文献

Since the success of an invasive species depends not only upon its intrinsic traits but also on particular characteristics of the recipient habitat, assessing the performance of an invader across habitats provides a more realistic analysis of risk. Such an analysis will not only provide insights into the traits related to invasiveness, but also the habitat characteristics that underpin vulnerability to invasion that, taken together, will facilitate the selection of management strategies to mitigate the invader’s effect. In the present study, we considered the Mediterranean basin islands as an excellent study region to test how the same invasive species perform in different habitats within a single island, and to scale up differences among islands with similar climate. We tested how the performance of three widespread plant invaders with clonal growth but contrasting life-history traits, a deciduous tree Ailanthus altissima, a succulent subshrub Carpobrotus spp., and an annual geophyte Oxalis pes-caprae, varied depending upon the species identity, habitat, and invaded island. The environmental parameters considered were habitat type, elevation, species diversity in the invaded plot, and several soil traits (% C, % N, C/N, pH, and relative humidity). The study documents that the performance of these three important and widespread plant invaders is dependent mainly on species identity, and less upon the invaded island’s general features. Likewise, differences in performance among habitats were only significant in the case of Ailanthus, whereas Carpobrotus and Oxalis appear to perform equally well in different environments. Ailanthus thus appears to have a broader spectrum of invasiveness, being able to invade a larger number of habitat types. On the contrary, Carpobrotus spp. have not yet invaded habitats different from those where the species have been originally introduced and where they are still commonly spread by humans. Oxalis distribution is mainly related to agricultural activities and disturbed sites, and the total area infested by this geophyte may be more reflection of the extent of suitable habitats than of invasiveness or ecological impact. Our results confirm the potential for these species to significantly alter the functioning of ecosystems in the Mediterranean islands and highlight the risk to other islands not yet invaded.  相似文献
