On the phylogeny of the Arminidae (Gastropoda, Opisthobranchia, Nudibranchia) with considerations of biogeography

In the past, the different genera of the family Arminidae have been diagnosed (mostly) on the basis of plesiomorphic characters and therefore their monophyly is questionable. The Arminidae are characterized by the autapomorphies 'possession of marginal sacs' and 'rhinophores with longitudinal lamellae'. The genus Heterodoris is excluded from the family. Two possible hypotheses about the phylogenetic relationships within the Arminidae are presented.
The Arminidae probably originated in the western Pacific, near Japan and have distributed in a westerly direction. The most primitive species ( Dermatobranchus ) are restricted mainly to the western Pacific region while the more derived species ( Armina ) have a world-wide distribution.     

A new species of Arabis L. (Brassicaceae) from South Anatolia

A new species of Arabis L., A. alanyensis H. Duman sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The species is restricted to the north of Alanya (Antalya), It grows on calcareous rocks. Diagnostic morphological characters for discrimination from the most similar taxa are given.     

A STUDY ON THE GENUS NIPPONOBUPRESTIS OBENBERGER (COLEOPTERA: BUPRESTIDAE)

Abstract A study is made with the rare Oriental Buprestidae genus Nippoduprestis Obenberger, 1942. Four new species are described under the names: Nipponobuprcstis rubrocinctus sp. nov., N. guangxiensis sp. nov., N. orientalis sp. nov. and N. bilyi sp. nov. The two historic species N. amabilis (Shell van Voll.), 1864, and N. querceti (Saunders), 1973, are redescribed in the same time. This genus is divided into two subgenera as: Nipponobuprestis s. str. and Nippaobuprestisia subgen. nov.     

Antarctic nemerteans: Heteronemertea– descriptions of new taxa, reappraisals of the systematic status of existing species and a key to the heteronemerteans recorded south of latitude 50oS

Twenty-three species representative of 15 heteronemertean genera are recorded from Antarctic and Subantarctic waters south oflatitude 50^oS. Five new genera are established and seven new species are fully described and illustrated. These are Cephalurichus antarcticus gen. et sp. nov., Dokonemertes magellanensis gen. et sp. nov., Dokonemertes macquariensis sp. nov., Micrellides multiperula gen. et sp. nov., Paramicrurinella falklandica gen. et sp. nov., Parborlasia landrumae sp. nov. and Zodionemertes chilensis gen. et sp. nov. Baseodiscus antarcticus Baylis, Antarctolineus scotti (Baylis), Lineus longifissus (Hubrecht) and Parborlasia fueguina Serna de Esteban & Moretto are redescribed and illustrated and the nature of rhynchodaeal pouches protruding into the cephalic blood lacunae of Parborlasia corrugatus (Mcintosh) is reexamined and discussed. The main anatomical characters of the remaining 11 species are recorded and it is concluded that of these only Parapolia grytvikenensis Wheeler, Cerebratulus malvini Wheeler, Chilineus glandulosa (Burger), Huilkia ushuaiensis Serna de Esteban & Moretto, Micrura pacifica Friedrich and Wiolkenia friedrichi Serna de Esteban & Moretto can at present be accepted as valid, although incompletely described, taxa. Cerebratulus larseni Wheeler, Cerebratulus validus Bürger, Lineus autrani Joubin and Lineus turqueli Joubin are so poorly and inadequately described that their taxonomic status cannot be verified, and the recorded occurrence of Lineus nigricans Burger in southern latitudes cannot be substantiated on the available evidence. Maps showing the recorded distribution of all the species are included and a key to the 18 validated species is provided.     

Phylogenetic studies of the subgenus Nialoe (s. lat.) (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Genus Pterostichus), part 2: The Asymmetricus species group

Pterostichus (Nialoe) asymmetricus Bates and its allies are revised based on the membranous parts of their genitalia. Four new taxa, P. (N.) ovaliphallus sp. nov., P. (N.) fujimurai ibukiyamanus ssp. nov., P. (N.) shotaroi kiimontanus ssp. nov., and P. (N.) basilobatus sp. nov. are described. A cladistic analysis based on 31 morphological characters reveals that Daisenilaoe (s. str.) Nakane and Straneo is included as one clade within Nialoe (s. str.). The speciation and dispersal process of this species group are also discussed.     

Taxonomic review of Hemistola Warren, 1893 from China,with descriptions of seven new species (Lepidoptera: Geometridae,Geometrinae)

The genus Hemistola Warren from China is reviewed, and seven new species are described: H. viridimargo, sp. nov., H. glauca sp. nov., H. asymmetra sp. nov., H. arcilinea sp. nov., H. flavifimbria sp. nov., H. orbiculosoides sp. nov. and H. stueningi sp. nov. Two species, acyra and christinaria, are transferred from Hemistola to Maxates and Comostola, respectively: Maxates acyra comb. nov. and Comostola christinaria comb. nov. Including the 25 species previously known from China, a total of 32 species is now recorded. All Chinese species are redescribed. Generic characters based on all species are summarized. Illustrations of adults and genitalia are presented.     

A new species of Globularia L. (Globulariaceae) from South Anatolia

A new species of Globularia L., G. hedgei H. Duman sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The species is restricted to the south of Sütçüler (Isparta) and grows on calcareous rocky cliffs. It is suggested that its IUCN category is Critically Endangered (CR). Diagnostic morphological characters for a detailed discrimination from the most closely similar taxa are discussed.     

A new species of Arabis (Brassicaceae) from inner Anatolia

A new species of Arabis L., A. erikii Mutlu sp. nov. , is described and illustrated. The species is restricted to inner Anatolia, south-west of Sivas. It grows on steppes. Paramunnidae (Grustaea: Isopoda: Asellota) from the Magellan Strait

Seven new species of Paramunnidae from the Magellan Strait are described, two of which are placed in new genera: Paramunna magellanensis sp. nov., P. menziesi sp. nov., P. parasimplex sp. nov., P. patagoniensis sp. nov., Allorostrata ovalis gen. et sp. nov., Austrosignum dentatum sp. nov., and Magellianira serrata gen. et. sp. nov. Four known paramunnid species from the same location are redescribed: Parammunna integra, P. simplex, P. subtriangulata and Munnogonium tillerae . While investigating the genus Paramunna , two species of this group, Acutomunna foliacea (Chardy, 1975) gen. nov. and Paramunna foresti Carvacho , 1977 were removed, which involved the erection of a new genus. The allocation of P. foresti remains uncertain. Some diagnostic characters of the Paramunnidae and a key to the Magellanic species of Paramunna are presented.     

Four new species of Pleurosigma (Bacillariophyta) from Alexandria, Egypt

Four new species of Pleurosigma are described from the region of Alexandria in Egypt: P. williamsii sp. nov. , P. mariutensis sp. nov. , P. ramlehensis sp. nov. and P. rushdyensis sp. nov. The taxa had been previously misidentified as P. rigidum W. Sm., P. elongatum W. Sm., P. speciosum var. sumatricum H. Perag. and P. formosum W. Sm., respectively. Due to the close resemblance of P. williamsii, P. mariutensis , P. ramlehensis and P. rushdyensis to P. rigidum , P. elongatum , P. speciosum var. sumatricum and P. formosum and the lack of good illustrations of these previously described species, their valvar features are shown and discussed in relation to the new taxa. © 2002 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2002, 140 , 77–92.     

Freshwater ascomycetes: new and noteworthy species from aquatic habitats in Florida

As part of a distributional study of freshwater ascomycetes in Florida, a number of new taxa were encountered. The new taxa include six Sordariomycetes, Aniptodera megaloascocarpa sp. nov., Flammispora pulchra sp. nov., Hanliniomyces hyaloapicalis gen. et sp. nov., Lockerbia striata sp. nov., Phomatospora triseptata sp. nov. and Physalospora limnetica sp. nov., and three Dothideomycetes, Caryospora obclavata sp. nov., Lepidopterella tangerina sp. nov. and Ophiobolus shoemakeri sp. nov. These taxa are described and illustrated. Six additional species are reported from Florida for the first time; among them, two species are new reports from freshwater habitats.     

Discovery of the genus Skidmorella Johnson (Coleoptera: Ptiliidae) in Japan, with descriptions of two new species

The genus Skidmorella Johnson, previously known only from the South Pacific islands, is discovered in Japan. The type species, Skidmorella magnifica Johnson, is confirmed from Japan as the first record of the species other than the type locality. In addition, two new species, Skidmorella amamiana sp. nov. and Skidmorella quadrisulucia sp. nov., are described from the Ryukyus, Japan. Phylogenetic relationships of the genus Skidmorella and its allies are discussed on the basis of their morphological characters.     

On the genus Auricullina Vassiljeva, 1998 and shell pores of the Cambrian helcionelloid mollusks

The genus Auricullina Vassiljeva, 1998 and its type species A. papulosa Vassiljeva, 1998 are redescribed based on new well-preserved material, which allows me to revise the generic diagnosis and greatly add to the morphological characterization of the type species. A new species, A. granulosa sp. nov., is described from the Botomian of Australia. The synonymy of the taxa is improved. The morphology and function of shell pores in Cambrian univalved mollusks are discussed.     

New genera and species of coelacanths from the Bear Gulch Limestone (Lower Carboniferous) of Montana (U.S.A.)

Four new species of coelacanths (Actinistia) from the Namurian E2b marine Bear Gulch Limestone of Montana are described, and a fifth species, originally described as an actinopterygian, is redescribed. Two new suborders are diagnosed. The taxonomy is: Suborder Coelacanthocdei, family Rhabdodermatidae, Caridosuctor populosum nov. sp., suborder Hadronectoroidei nov., family Hadronectoridae nov., Hadronector donbairdi nov. sp., Polyosteorhynchus simplex nov. sp. and Allenypterus montanusMelton. Lochmocercus aciculiodontus nov. sp. is incertae sedis.     

Review of the oriental leafhopper genus Lampridius (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae), with description of a related new genus

The leafhopper genus Lampridius Distant, 1918 (type species: L. spectabilis Distant, 1918 ) is redescribed, and a second species, L. cuspidatus sp. nov. (Thailand: Loei), is described. A related new genus Paralampridius gen. nov. and four new species are described: P. mimicus sp. nov. (China: Guangdong, Hainan), P. rotundatus sp. nov. (Thailand: Loei), P. sinuatus sp. nov. (Thailand: Loei, Suphanburi, Petchaburi), and P. truncatus sp. nov. (Thailand: Chaiyaphum, Ubon Ratchathani). Both genera are tentatively included in the tribe Opsiini, although only Lampridius has paired aedeagal shafts with separate gonopores. All six species are illustrated, and a key is provided for their identification. Problems with the current tribal classification are discussed in light of the present discovery of closely related species that show variation in characters previously assumed to be stable at the tribal level in the subfamily Deltocephalinae.     

New species of the family Heliodiscidae Haeckel (radiolaria)

The family Heliodiscidae Haeckel, 1881, which includes five genera, is reviewed. New methods of investigation are applied to the inner structure of Cretaceous spherical radiolarian skeletons, which reveal numerous taxa with an eccentric microsphere. Three new species, Astrophacus marinae sp. nov., Excentrosphaerella kovalenkovi sp. nov., and Excentrosphaerella kurilovi sp. nov., are described. The eccentric position of the microsphere suggests that these forms are nontypical Mesozoic radiolarians or new representatives of the family Heliodiscidae Haeckel, 1881, which was previously recorded in the Cenozoic.     

Notes on some species of Parasmittina Osburn, 1952 (Bryozoa: Cheilostomatida)

Nine species of the cheilostomate bryozoan genus Parasmittina Osburn, 1952, are described. Neotype specimens are selected for P. parsevalii (Audouin) and P. raigii (Audouin). P. hastingsae Soule and Soule, P. agathae sp. nov., P. parsloeparsloei sp. nov., P. pectinata sp. nov. and P. solenosmilioides sp. nov. are described from Australian localities. P. fistulata (Harmer) is redescribed and P. decorata Soule and Soule is placed in the synonymy of P. delicatula (Busk).     

A new species of Alkanna Tausch (Boraginaceae) from south-west Anatolia

A new species of Alkanna Tausch, A. mughlae H. Duman, Giiner & H. Sagban sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The species is restricted to the south-western corner of Anatolia growing on coastal limestone cliffs. Diagnostic morphologic characters for a detailed discrimination from the most similar taxa are discussed.     

Taxonomy on crane flies in family Tipulidae and Limoniidae (Diptera: Tipuloidea) from Yaoluoping National Nature Reserve,Anhui, China

The paper reports 13 species from Yaoluoping National Nature Reserve,Anhui,China,including a new species and a new subspecies,Tipula (Emodotipula) alexanderi Men,sp.nov.and Nephrotoma impigra anqingensis Men,subsp.nov.The female of Libnotes (Libnotes) pseudonohirai Men,2015 is described and illustrated for the first time.The males of Holorusia henana Yang,1999 and Tipula (Vestiplex)jiangi Yang & Yang,1991 are redescribed and illustrated with new morphological characters.A key to all species is provided.
