An extremely halophilic red archaebacterium isolated from the Dead Sea (Ginzburg et al., J. Gen. Physiol. 55: 187-207, 1970) belongs to the genus Haloarcula and differs sufficiently from the previously described species of the genus to be designated a new species; we propose the name Haloarcula marismortui (Volcani) sp. nov., nom. rev. because of the close resemblance of this organism to "Halobacterium marismortui," which was first described by Volcani in 1940. The type strain is strain ATCC 43049.  相似文献

The genetic and phenotypic properties of 10 strains identified as Lactobacillus intestinalis sp. nov. were examined. These strains constitute a distinct species which can be differentiated from all of the previously described homofermentative species in the genus Lactobacillus by their carbohydrate fermentation pattern. The guanine-plus-cytosine contents of their DNAs are 33 to 35 mol%. DNAs from 10 other Lactobacillus species did not exhibit significant levels of relatedness to representative strains of the new species. The name Lactobacillus intestinalis (ex Hemme) sp. nov., nom. rev. is proposed for these isolates, and strain Th4 (= ATCC 49335 = JCM 7548) is the type strain.  相似文献

We studied the taxonomic positions of the rapidly growing organism Mycobacterium fortuitum and phenotypically related organisms. We confirmed that "Mycobacterium peregrinum" ATCC 14467T (T = type strain) is genetically independent of M. fortuitum ATCC 6841T by using various DNA hybridization conditions. Strains that were genetically identified as "M. peregrinum" were phenotypically differentiated from M. fortuitum ATCC 6841T. Thus, we propose that "M. peregrinum" should be revived as an independent species, Mycobacterium peregrinum sp. nov., nom. rev. The type strain is strain ATCC 14467. M. fortuitum subsp. acetamidolyticum ATCC 35931T exhibited a high level of DNA relatedness to M. fortuitum ATCC 6841T. The hybridized DNAs maintained stable heteroduplexity at high stringency; thus, we confirmed that M. fortuitum subsp. acetamidolyticum is identical to M. fortuitum ATCC 6841T. We found that M. chelonae subsp. abscessus ATCC 19977T is genetically different from M. chelonae subsp. chelonae NCTC 946T on the basis of the results of quantitative hybridization even under optimal conditions. There was no reason to maintain this organism as a subspecies of M. chelonae. Thus, we propose that M. chelonae subsp. abscessus should be elevated to species status as Mycobacterium abscessus (Kubica et al.) comb. nov. The type strain is strain ATCC 19977.  相似文献

A previous phylogenetic study on type strains of the genus Micromonospora and Micromonospora species bearing non-validly published names has pointed towards the species status of several of latter strains. Subsequent studies on morphological, cultural, chemotaxonomic, metabolic, and genomic properties, and on whole cell mass spectrometric analyses by matrix adsorbed laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) confirmed the species status, leading to the proposal of eight new Micromonospora species: Micromonospora citrea sp. nov., type strain DSM 43903T, Micromonospora echinaurantiaca sp. nov., type strain DSM 43904T, Micromonospora echinofusca sp. nov., type strain DSM 43913T, Micromonospora fulviviridis sp. nov., type strain DSM 43906T, Micromonospora inyonensis sp. nov., type strain DSM 46123T, Micromonospora peucetia sp. nov., type strain DSM 43363T, Micromonospora sagamiensis sp. nov., type strain DSM 43912T and Micromonospora viridifaciens sp. nov., type strain DSM 43909T.  相似文献

Evidence from numerical taxonomic analysis and DNA-DNA hybridization supports the proposal of new species in the genera Actinobacillus and Pasteurella. The following new species are proposed: Actinobacillus rossii sp. nov., from the vaginas of postparturient sows; Actinobacillus seminis sp. nov., nom. rev., associated with epididymitis of sheep; Pasteurella bettii sp. nov., associated with human Bartholin gland abscess and finger infections; Pasteurella lymphangitidis sp. nov. (the BLG group), which causes bovine lymphangitis; Pasteurella mairi sp. nov., which causes abortion in sows; and Pasteurella trehalosi sp. nov., formerly biovar T of Pasteurella haemolytica, which causes septicemia in older lambs.  相似文献

Five strains of bifidobacteria were isolated from faeces of a common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) and a red-handed tamarin (Saguinus midas). The five isolates clustered inside the phylogenetic group of the genus Bifidobacterium but did not show high sequence similarities between the isolates and to known species in the genus by phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. Sequence analyses of dnaJ1 and hsp60 also indicated their independent phylogenetic positions to each other in the Bifidobacterium cluster. DNA G+C contents of the species ranged from 57.3 to 66.3 mol%, which is within the values recorded for Bifidobacterium species. All isolates showed fructose-6-phosphate phosphoketolase activity. Based on the data provided, the five isolates represent five novel species, for which the names Bifidobacterium reuteri sp. nov. (type strain: AFB22-1(T) = JCM 17295(T) = DSM 23975(T)), Bifidobacterium callitrichos sp. nov. (type strain: AFB22-5(T) = JCM 17296(T) = DSM 23973(T)), Bifidobacterium saguini sp. nov. (type strain: AFB23-1(T) = JCM 17297(T) = DSM 23967(T)), Bifidobacterium stellenboschense sp. nov. (type strain: AFB23-3(T) = JCM 17298(T) = DSM 23968(T)) and Bifidobacterium biavatii sp. nov. (type strain: AFB23-4(T) = JCM 17299(T) = DSM 23969(T)) are proposed.  相似文献

'Streptococcus pluton' (White) differs to such an extent from the type species of Streptococcus, Strep. pyogenes (Rosenbach), that it cannot be retained in this genus. Culture, biochemical and chemical data indicate that ' Strep, pluton ' is a distinct taxon worthy of generic status. A new genus, Melissococcus , is described to contain one species Melissococcus pluton (White) nom. rev.; comb. nov. The type strain is M. pluton NCDO 2443.  相似文献

The biological and biochemical properties, DNA base compositions, and levels of DNA-DNA homology of two biovars of Fusobacterium necrophorum were examined. Some differences were found between the two biovars in biological and biochemical properties. The G + C contents of DNAs from biovar A strains VPI 2891T (T = type strain), NCTC 10576, N167, Fn47, and Fn43, were 32, 30, 29, 28, and 31 mol%, respectively. The G + C contents of DNAs from biovar B strains Fn524T, 606, Fn49, Fn45, and 1260 were 30, 31, 27, 31, and 30 mol%, respectively. Labeled DNA from biovar A strain VPI 2891T exhibited 100 to 80% relatedness to DNAs from biovar A strains and 59 to 51% relatedness to DNAs from biovar B strains. Labeled DNA from biovar B strain Fn524T exhibited 100 to 81% relatedness to DNAs from biovar B strains and 71 to 60% relatedness to DNAs from biovar A strains. Therefore, the names Fusobacterium necrophorum subsp. necrophorum subsp. nov., nom. rev. (ex Flügge 1886), and Fusobacterium necrophorum subsp. funduliforme subsp. nov., nom. rev. (ex Hallé 1898), are proposed for Fusobacterium necrophorum biovars A and B, respectively. The type strain of F. necrophorum subsp. necrophorum is strain VPI 2891 (= JCM 3718 = ATCC 25286), and the type strain of F. necrophorum subsp. funduliforme is strain Fn524 (= JCM 3724).  相似文献

Two Gram-positive strains isolated from cysts of the brine shrimp Artemia franciscana were subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic analysis. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison and composition of isoprenoid quinones, peptidoglycan and fatty acids, these organisms are members of the genus Exiguobacterium. Both strains showed 95.9% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to one another. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of strain 8N(T) and 9AN(T) were 97.5% and 98.9% similar to those of Exiguobacterium aurantiacum DSM 6208(T) and Exiguobacterium undae DSM 14481(T), respectively. Based on differences in chemotaxonomic and physiological characteristics, results of DNA-DNA hybridization and automated riboprinting, two novel species of the genus Exiguobacterium are proposed, Exiguobacterium mexicanum sp. nov. (type strain 8N(T)=DSM 16483(T)=CIP 108859(T)) and Exiguobacterium artemiae sp. nov. (type strain 9AN(T)=DSM 16484(T)=CIP 108858(T)).  相似文献

Two Gram-negative, nonmotile, coccobacilli, SW-3T and SW-100T, were isolated from sea water of the Yellow Sea in Korea. Strains SW-3T and SW-100T contained ubiquinone-9 (Q-9) as the predominant respiratory lipoquinone and C18:1 omega9c and C16:0 as the major fatty acids. The DNA G+C contents of strains SW-3T and SW-100T were 44.1 mol% and 41.9 mol%, respectively. A neighbor-joining tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the two isolates fell within the evolutionary radiation enclosed by the genus Acinetobacter. Strains SW-3T and SW-100T exhibited a 16S rRNA gene similarity value of 95.7% and a mean DNA-DNA relatedness level of 9.2%. Strain SW-3T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity levels of 93.5-96.9% to the validly described Acinetobacter species and fifteen Acinetobacter genomic species. Strain SW-100T exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity levels of less than 97.0% to the other Acinetobacter species except Acinetobacter towneri DSM 14962T (98.0% similarity). Strains SW-3T and SW-100T exhibited mean levels of DNA-DNA relatedness of 7.3-16.7% to the type strains of some phylogenetically related Acinetobacter species. On the basis of phenotypic, phylogenetic, and genetic data, strains SW-3T and SW-100T were classified in the genus Acinetobacter as two distinct novel species, for which the names Acinetobacter marinus sp. nov. (type strain SW-3T=KCTC 12259T=DSM 16312T) and Acinetobacter seohaensis sp. nov. (type strain SW-100T=KCTC 12260T=DSM 16313T) are proposed, respectively.  相似文献

Two novel strains of the Cytophaga-Flexibacter-Bacteroides (CFB) group, designated Gsoil 219" and Gsoil 2381, were isolated from soil of a ginseng field of Pocheon Province in Korea. Both strains were Gram-negative, aerobic, nonmotile, nonspore-forming, and rod-shaped. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that both isolates belong to the genus Chitinophaga but were clearly separated from established species of this genus. The sequence similarities between strain Gsoil 219T and type strains of the established species and between strain Gsoil 238T and type strains of the established species ranged from 91.4 to 94.7% and 91.6 to 94.2%, respectively. Phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data (major menaquinone, MK-7; major fatty acids, iso-C15:0 and C(16:1) omega5c; major hydroxy fatty acid, iso-C(17:0) 3-OH; major polyamine, homospermidine) supported the affiliation of both strains Gsoil 219T and Gsoil 238T to the genus Chitinophaga. Furthermore, the results of physiological and biochemical tests allowed genotypic and phenotypic differentiation of both strains from the other validated Chitinophaga species. Therefore, the two isolates represent two novel species, for which the name Chitinophaga soli sp. nov. (type strain, Gsoil 219T=KCTC 12650T=DSM 18093T) and Chitinophaga terrae sp. nov. (type strain, Gsoil 238T=KCTC 12651T=DSM 18078T) are proposed.  相似文献

"Corynebacterium aquaticum" was first proposed by Leifson in 1962 but not included in the approved lists of bacterial names in 1980. This species has been left from reclassification of the genus Corynebacterium because of the unusual chemotaxonomic characteristics such as 2,4-diaminobutyric acid (DAB) in the peptidoglycan and menaquinones of MK-10 and MK-11. A close relationship of "C. aquaticum" to the genera Agromyces and Rathayibacter has been pointed out from the viewpoint of chemotaxonomic profiles and phylogeny based on the 16S rDNA sequences. An analysis of DAB isomers of the peptidoglycan distinguished "C. aquaticum" clearly from these genera by possessing both L-DAB and D-DAB. We also found that the type strain of Clavibacter xyli subsp. cynodontis and two strains of amine-decomposing bacteria showed the similar chemotaxonomic features and formed a cluster with "C. aquaticum" in the phylogenetic tree based on 16S rDNA sequences in the family Microbacteriaceae. Considering these results, we propose a new genus Leifsonia to accommodate the four strains. The four species, Leifsonia aquatica sp. nov., nom. rev., comb. nov. (type species, type strain=JCM 1368), Leifsonia shinshuensis sp. nov. (type strain=DB102=JCM 10591), Leifsonia naganoensis sp. nov. (type strain=DB103=JCM 10592), and Leifsonia cynodontis comb. nov. (type strain=JCM 9733=ICMP 8790), were proposed here for the strains.  相似文献

A novel Janibacter species is described on the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic data. Two bacterial strains were isolated in Palau, which were both Gram-positive, catalase-positive bacteria with meso-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid of the peptidoglycan. The major menaquinone was MK-8(H(4)). Mycolic acids were not detected. The G+C content of the DNA was 70-71 mol%. Comparative 16S rDNA studies of the two isolated strains revealed that they both belonged to the genus Janibacter. DNA-DNA relatedness data revealed that 04PA2-Co5-61(T) and 02PA-Ca-009 belong to the same species, a new species of the genus Janibacter. From these results, Janibacter corallicola sp. nov. is proposed, with the type strain 04PA2-Co5-61(T) (=MBIC 08265(T), DSM 18906(T)).  相似文献

A novel actinomycete strain, designated YIM 30243T, was isolated from a soil sample in Yunnan Province, China. Based on the results of phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, strain YIM 30243T should be assigned to a new species of the genus Nocardia, for which the name Nocardia alba sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YIM 30243T (= CCTCC AA001030T = DSM 44684T).  相似文献

Phenotypic and molecular genetic studies were performed on an unknown facultative anaerobic, catalase-negative, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium isolated from a pig manure storage pit. The unknown bacterium was nutritionally fastidious with growth enhanced by the addition of rumen fluid and was phenotypically initially identified as an Eubacterium species. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequencing studies, however, revealed that the unknown bacterium was phylogenetically distant from Eubacterium limosum (the type species of the genus Eubacterium) and related organisms. Phylogenetically, the unknown species displayed a close association with an uncultured organism from human subgingival plaque and formed an unknown sub-line within a cluster of organisms which includes Alloioccoccus otitis, Alkalibacterium olivoapovliticus, Allofustis seminis, Dolosigranulum pigrum, and related organisms, within the low mol% G+C Gram-positive bacteria. Sequence divergence values of >8% with all known taxonomically recognised taxa, however, clearly indicates the novel bacterium represents a hitherto unknown genus. Based on both phenotypic and phylogenetic considerations, it is proposed that the unknown bacterium from pig manure be classified in a new genus and species, as Atopostipes suicloacale gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain of Atopostipes suicloacale is PPC79(T)=NRRL 23919(T)=DSM 15692(T).  相似文献

Three Gram-negative bacterial strains were isolated from the biofilter of a recirculating marine aquaculture. They were non-pigmented rods, mesophiles, moderately halophilic, and showed chemo-organoheterotrophic growth on various sugars, fatty acids, and amino acids, with oxygen as electron acceptor; strains D9-3T and D11-58 were in addition able to denitrify. Phototrophic or fermentative growth could not be demonstrated. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences placed D9-3T and D11-58, and D1-19T on two distinct branches within the alpha-3 proteobacterial Rhodobacteraceae, affiliated with, but clearly separate from, the genera Rhodobacter, Rhodovulum, and Rhodobaca. Based on morphological, physiological, and 16S rRNA-based phylogenetic characteristics, the isolated strains are proposed as new species of two novel genera, Defluviimonas denitrificans gen. nov., sp. nov. (type strain D9-3T = DSM 18921T = ATCC BAA-1447T; additional strain D11-58 = DSM19039 = ATCC BAA-1448) and Pararhodobacter aggregans gen. nov., sp. nov (type strain D1-19T = DSM 18938T = ATCC BAA-1446T).  相似文献

Four strains of obligately heterotrophic bacteria isolated from the oxygen-sulfide interface of the Black Sea are characterized. The bacteria are aerobic, Gram-negative, with lemon-like, nonmotile cells. Bacteriochlorophyll a is not detected. They are mesophilic and neutrophilic with a temperature range of 8–35 °C (optimum 25) and pH range of 6.5–8.5 (optimum 7.8). Their growth is NaCl dependent within a range of 5 and 60 (optimum 20) g l−1. They are able to oxidize thiosulfate, sulfide and elemental sulfur to sulfate and to use metabolic energy from these reactions (lithoheterotrophy). According to the level of DNA reassociation of more than 40%, all isolates represent a single generic group. The G+C content of the DNA was in the range of 67.5–69.2 mol%. According to phylogenetic analysis, the new isolates form a separate branch in the alpha-3 subdivision of the Proteobacteria together with two undescribed marine bacterial strains. On the basis of phenotypical and genomic properties, the new isolates are described as a new genus and species Citreicella thiooxidans gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is CHLG 1T (=DSM 10146, UNIQEM U 228).  相似文献

Four strains of budding, hyphal bacteria, which had very similar chemotaxonomic properties, were isolated from the Baltic Sea. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization experiments, indicated that three of the new isolates were closely related, while the fourth was only moderately related to the other three. Sequence signature and higher-order structural detail analyses of the 16S rRNA of strain IFAM 1418T (T = type strain) indicated that this isolate is related to the alpha subclass of the class Proteobacteria. Although our isolates resemble members of the genera Hyphomicrobium and Hyphomonas in morphology, assignment to either of these genera was excluded on the basis of their markedly lower DNA guanine-plus-cytosine contents. We propose that these organisms should be placed in a new genus, Hirschia baltica is the type species of this genus, and the type strain of H. baltica is strain IFAM 1418 (= DSM 5838).  相似文献
