Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt) seed extracts were evaluated. Seeds were extracted with acetone, ethanol, methanol, butanol and water. All the extracts have shown significant antioxidant and antimicrobial activities against the tested microorganisms. Among all extracts, acetone extract has shown the highest antioxidant activity. The acetone extract showed 93.12 ± 1.48 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/100 g dry weight total phenolic content, DPPH scavenging activity of 63.04 ± 1.56%, chelating activity of 64.11 ± 2.21% and 74.36 ± 1.94% inhibition of β-carotene bleaching, at 1 mg/mL extract concentration. Out of all extracts, acetone extract was able to exert antimicrobial activity against all tested bacteria and fungi. Acetone extract has shown the strongest antibacterial and antifungal activity with Staphylococcus aureus (13.8 ± 0.42 mm) and Aspergillus niger (14.4 ± 0.37 mm), respectively. GC–MS analysis of acetone extract has revealed the presence of 32 compounds of extract representing 99.49%. Sabinene (28.61%) has shown the highest occurrence in the extract. β-Pinene (10.26), α-pinene (9.72), myristicin (4.30%), isoeugenol (2.72%), p-cymene (1.81%), carvacrol (1.54%), eugenol (0.89%) and β-caryophellene (0.82%) were reported as possible contributor for antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of nutmeg.  相似文献

Myracrodruon urundeuva heartwood is resistant to biodeterioration and lectin purified from heartwood showed antifungal and termiticidal activities. This report deals with antioxidant, antifungal and termite repellent activities of secondary metabolites from M. urundeuva heartwood. Saline (SE, active hemagglutinin preparation) and methanolic (ME, without hemagglutinating activity) extracts contain phenolic compounds, gallic acid, flavonoids, luteolin, cinamic derivatives, proanthocyanidins, hydrolysable tannins, and leucoanthocyanidins. Both SE and ME showed antioxidant activity and were effective in Fusarium growth inhibition. SE was efficient against Fusarium decemcellulare, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium oxysporum, and Fusarium solani but it had little effect against Fusarium lateritium. ME practically had no effect on F. decemcellulare and was more active than SE against F. lateritium. SE induced mortality of Nasutitermes corniger (LC50 of 1.81 mg ml?1 for soldiers and 2.59 mg ml?1 for workers) and had no repellent activity. ME had no termiticidal activity but was a good repellent. The detected bioactivities point out the possibility of participation of secondary metabolites in the resistance of M. urundeuva heartwood to biodeterioration. Additionally, the results indicate the use of wood residues, as extracts, a source of natural bioactive agents.  相似文献

This study investigated the phytochemical, antioxidative, antimicrobial and cytotoxic effects of Leea indica leaf ethanol extract. Phytochemical values namely total phenolic and flavonoid contents, total antioxidant capacity, DPPH radical scavenging effect, FeCl3 reducing power, DMSO superoxide scavenging effect and Iron chelating effects were studied by established methods. Antibacterial, antifungal and cytotoxic effects were screened by disk diffusion technique, food poison technique and brine shrimp bioassay, respectively. Results showed the total phenolic content 24.00 ± 0.81 g GAE/100 g, total flavonoid content 194.68 ± 2.43 g quercetin/100 g and total antioxidant capacity 106.61 ± 1.84 g AA/100 g dry extract. Significant (P < 0.05) IC50 values compared to respective standards were recorded in DPPH radical scavenging (139.83 ± 1.40 μg/ml), FeCl3 reduction (16.48 ± 0.64 μg/ml), DMSO superoxide scavenging (676.08 ± 5.80 μg/ml) and Iron chelating (519.33 ± 16.96 μg/ml) methods. In antibacterial screening, the extract showed significant (P < 0.05) zone of inhibitions compared to positive controls Ampicillin and Tetracycline against Gram positive Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus megaterium, and Staphylococcus aureus and Gram negative Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Shigella dysenteriae, Vibrio cholerae, and Escherichia coli. Significant minimum inhibitory concentrations compared to tetracycline were obtained against the above organisms. In antifungal assay, the extract inhibited the growth of Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans and Fusarium equisetii by 38.09 ± 0.59, 22.58 ± 2.22, and 22.58 ± 2.22%, respectively. The extract showed a significant LC50 value compared to vincristine sulfate in cytotoxic assay. The results evidenced the potential antioxidative, antimicrobial and cytotoxic capacities of Leea inidica leaf extract to be processed for pharmaceutical use.  相似文献

The crude extracts of Dietes bicolor leaves, flowers and rhizomes were subjected to comparative antimicrobial screening against two Gram-positive, two Gram-negative bacteria and four fungal strains using the agar well diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of the tested extracts were also determined. Furthermore, the cytotoxic activity was evaluated. D. bicolor extracts generally demonstrated notable broad spectrum antimicrobial activities (MIC values  500 μg/mL) against all tested pathogens. D. bicolor leaf extract showed potent broad spectrum antimicrobial activity with MIC values ranging between 0.24 and 31.25 μg/mL against all tested pathogens. Moreover, the flowers extract exhibited promising antimicrobial activities, displaying MIC values ranging between 1.95 and 125 μg/mL against the tested bacteria and fungi. However, the rhizomes extract showed moderate antimicrobial activity with MIC values ranging between 31.25 and 500 μg/mL. Despite the potent antimicrobial activity of D. bicolor extracts, they were ineffective as cytotoxic agents against nine tested cancer cell lines, displaying 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) values above 100 μg/mL. The reported potent antimicrobial activity along with the lack of measurable cytotoxic activity indicated that the antimicrobial activity of D. bicolor crude extracts is mediated through a mechanism other than cytotoxicity. These results suggest that D. bicolor can act as a potential source for natural antibacterial and antifungal agents with a good safety profile at a preliminary level.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine phenolic content and antioxidant activities of chloroform, acetone, methanol and hot water extracts of Bauhinia vahlii leaves. The hot water extract afforded the highest yield (6.3%) while the lowest yield was obtained from the chloroform extract (2.1%). The methanol extract contains higher levels of total phenolics (48.7 ± 0.7 g GAE/100 g extract), tannins (21.7 ± 0.7 g GAE/100 g extract) and flavonoids (10.3 ± 0.2 RE/100 g extract). The extracts were subjected to assess their antioxidant potential using various in vitro systems such as DPPH, ABTS+, FRAP, OH, β-carotene linoleic acid bleaching system, phosphomolybdenum reduction and Fe2+ chelation. It is concluded that the methanolic extract of B. vahlii leaves have strong antioxidant potential. Further study is necessary for isolation and characterization of the active antioxidants, which may serve as a potential source of natural antioxidants.  相似文献

BackgroundAmong the potential natural sources of bioactive compounds, those of the macroscopic fungi Phellinus spp. have been identified by previous researches. Phenolic compounds are among the major antioxidant and antimicrobial contributors due to their bioactive properties.AimsThe goal of this study was to determine the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, and its relation with the antioxidant and antifungal activity of methanolic extracts of Phellinus gilvus, Phellinus rimosus and Phellinus badius, respectively.MethodsThe collected and identified organisms of Phellinus spp. were treated with methanol and the generated aqueous extract was analyzed to quantified total phenolic compounds, total flavonoids, radical scavenging activity against DPPH, trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity, and oxygen absorbance capacity. The antifungal property of the extracts was evaluated against Alternaria alternata.ResultsThe content of phenolic compounds was of 49.31, 46.51 and 44.7 mg of gallic acid equivalents/g, for P. gilvus, P. rimosus and P. badius, respectively. The total flavonoid content followed the same pattern with values of 30.58, 28, and 26.48 mg of quercetin equivalents/g for P. gilvus, P. rimosus and P. badius, respectively. The variation on the content of phenolic components was reflected on the antioxidant activity of every organism. The antioxidant activity ranked as follows: P. gilvus > P. rimosus > P. badius. The antifungal effect of the different extracts against A. alternata showed a significant effect, all of them, inhibiting the growth of this pathogen.ConclusionsP. gilvus showed the best potential to inactivate free radicals, being all the tested fungi effective to inhibit A. alternata growth.  相似文献

The aim of present work was to assess the total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), phenolic compounds and antioxidant properties of various extracts of three Ceropegia spp.: Ceropegia spiralis, Ceropegia panchganiensis and Ceropegia evansii from Western Ghats of India. TPC of the samples varied from 0.3 ± 0.2 to 28.5 ± 0.3 mg TAE/g FW, whereas, TFC of the samples ranged between 0.1 ± 0.1 and 15.3 ± 0.3 mg RE/g FW. The major phenolic compounds identified were gallic acid, vanillin, cathechol and ferulic acid. All the extracts possess 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) as well as metal chelating ability and this was also supported by significant correlation with TPC and TFC. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper presenting comprehensive data on TPC, TFC, phenolic profile and antioxidant properties of the Ceropegia spp.  相似文献

The leaves of Dilobeia thouarsii (Roemer and Schulte), a tree that is endemic to Madagascar (Proteaceae), are used in traditional Malagasy medicine to treat bacterial skin infections and wounds. This study investigated the in vitro antibacterial activities of D. thouarsii leaf extracts and identified the bioactive compounds with the aim of providing a scientific basis for its use against skin diseases. Using broth microdilution method for leaf crude extract and its compounds, we investigated inhibition of the growth of Bacillus cereus, Bacillus megaterium, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Vibrio harveyi, Vibrio fisheri, Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella antarctica, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The two purified phenolic compounds from leaf ethyl acetate extracts (1, 2) were found to be more active than the crude extract itself. The structure of the two compounds was elucidated by NMR and mass spectrometry: compound 1 was identified as 4-aminophenol and compound 2 as 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. A marked inhibitory effect (MIC < 0.1 mg/ml) was found against S. aureus, which is a major agent in skin infections. We observed moderate activities (MIC values of between 0.1 and 0.5 mg/ml) for E. faecalis, Vibrio spp., and Bacillus spp. Neither compound was active against Salmonella spp., E. coli and K. pneumoniae (MICs > 1 mg/ml). To conclude, the high antimicrobial activity of D. thouarsii leaf extracts against S. aureus supports its traditional use to treat skin infections.  相似文献

In the present investigation the acetone extracts of macroalgae Ulva lactuca and Enteromorpha intestinalis were tested for antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic potential. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by measuring the scavenging capacity of tested samples on DPPH and superoxide anion radicals, reducing the power of samples and determination of total phenolic and flavonoid compounds in extracts. As a result of the study, U. lactuca extract was found to have a better free radical scavenging activity (IC50 = 623.58 μg/ml) than E. intestinalis extract (IC50 = 732.12 μg/ml). Moreover, the tested extracts had effective ferric reducing power and superoxide anion radical scavenging. The total content of phenol in extracts of U. lactuca and E. intestinalis was 58.15 and 40.68 μg PE/mg, while concentrations of flavonoids were 39.58 and 21.74 μg RE/mg, respectively. Furthermore, among the tested species, extracts of U. lactuca showed a better antimicrobial activity with minimum inhibitory concentration values ranging from 0.156 to 5 mg/ml, but it was relatively weak in comparison with standard antibiotics. Bacillus mycoides and Bacillus subtilis were the most susceptible to the tested extracts. Contrary to this Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium purpurescens were the most resistant. Finally, cytotoxic activity of tested extracts was evaluated on four human cancer cell lines. Extract of E. intestinalis expressed the stronger cytotoxic activity towards all tested cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 74.73 to 155.39 μg/ml.  相似文献

Natural extracts or compounds that possess both antioxidant and antiglycation activities might have great therapeutic potential for treating diabetic complications. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant and antiglycation properties of aqueous and EtOH (70%) extracts as well as three isolated compounds (protocatechuic acid, catechin and vanillin) from Hydnora johannis (Hydnoraceae) roots. The antioxidant activity of both extracts and isolated compounds was tested by measuring their capacity to scavenge DPPH and ABTS radicals. The glucose-induced advanced glycation end-product (AGE) formation of the extracts and isolated compounds was also carried out using in vitro glucose-bovine serum albumin (BSA-glucose) assay. Results showed that the ethanolic (70%) extract as well as isolated protocatechuic acid and catechin exhibited strong antioxidant and inhibitory effect of AGE formation. Thus, H. johannis roots with its high amount of protocatechuic acid (≈ 3.75 mg/100 g) and catechin (≈ 26.9 mg/100 g) could be a natural candidate for studies of herbal complement to diabetes treatment since it combines antioxidant and anti-AGE formation activities.  相似文献

The cytotoxic and antioxidant properties of lipophilic compounds extracted from different parts of four Chenopodium L. (Chenopodium album, Chenopodium hybridum, Chenopodium rubrum and Chenopodium urbicum) species were evaluated. The highest phenolic content was found in herb and seeds of all examined plants. Large amounts of free polyphenols were observed in herb extracts of C. album (3.36 mg/g DW), seeds of C. urbicum (3.87 mg/g DW) and roots of C. urbicum (1.52 mg/g DW). The cytotoxic activities of the extracts were assessed against human lung carcinoma A-549 and ovarian carcinoma TOV-112D and normal human fibroblast cell lines. Our study demonstrated that the extracts from the herb of C. rubrum and C. urbicum had the best antioxidant effect of all the extracts analyzed. Most of the extracts tested exhibited low cytotoxicity. However, the extracts from herb and seeds of C. album and C. hybridum showed the significant antiproliferative effect on the TOV-112 cell line.It can be concluded that antioxidant activity and phenolic composition differ mainly between plant parts and are quite similar between the plants, when the same plant part is analyzed. Thus, the Chenopodium extracts could be used as a readily accessible source of natural antioxidants, and may be used in the pharmaceutical industry and for food supplements production.  相似文献

The antifungal activity of viable cells of Streptomyces griseus (St 4) and its cell-free extracts were investigated against the pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense race 4 (FOC race 4), causal agent of wilt disease in bananas. Results from in vitro and soil assays showed cells and cell-free extracts of S. griseus were able to inhibit FOC race 4 with varying degree of success. Antifungal activity was attributed to chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase, detected in both cells and cell-free extracts, which caused lysis of fungal cell wall and inhibited sporulation. Interestingly, β-1,3-glucanase and chitinase activities were significantly higher in cell-free extracts compared to cells, with 8.30 and 5.43 against 7.96 and 4.95 U mL−1, respectively. Application to soil however, showed inoculation using S. griseus cells were more effective in suppressing growth of FOC race 4 than crude extracts, with 6 log10 CFU of FOC race 4 g−1 soil enumerated compared to 7 log10 CFU of FOC race 4 g−1 soil after 20 days. To summarize, this study has shown that cell-free extracts of S. griseus have antifungal properties but may not be suitable for soil application in its current form (liquid suspension). Further investigations on bioformulation may address this limitation.  相似文献

Seasonal dynamics in the polyphenolic composition, antioxidant activity, and their relationships during plant development were evaluated for eastern teaberry (Gaultheria procumbens L.) leaves, a traditional herbal medicine of North American natives. With the complementary UHPLC-PDA-ESI-MS3, HPLC-PDA-fingerprint, Folin-Ciocalteau, and n-butanol/HCl assays of methanol-water (75:25, v/v) extracts, the dried leaf samples harvested monthly across the growing season under Polish climate conditions were found rich in structurally diverse polyphenols (149.2–210.7 mg/g DW) including the dominating salicylates (64.6–107.5 mg/g DW), proanthocyanidins (53.0–66.8 mg/g DW), and flavonoids (17.3–25.3 mg/g DW), and the accompanying chlorogenic acid isomers (2.4–4.4 mg/g DW) and simple phenolic acids (0.9–1.1 mg/g DW). Among 28 detected analytes, gaultherin (64.6–107.5 mg/g DW), miquelianin (14.6–21.1 mg/g DW), procyanidin A-type trimer (5.5–9.5 mg/g DW), and (–)-epicatechin (5.8–7.8 mg/g DW) were the most abundant. The phenolic levels and antioxidant activity parameters in the DPPH (EC50, 15.0–18.2 μg DW/mL; 0.95–1.16 mmol Trolox equivalents/g DW) and FRAP (2.3–3.4 mmol Fe 2+/g DW; 0.86–1.26 mmol Trolox equivalents/g DW) assays showed parallel seasonal trends with maxima in September and October. As the subsequent correlation studies confirmed the determinative impact of polyphenols on the leaf antioxidant activity and its seasonal fluctuations, the Fall season could be recommended as optimal for harvesting the plant material for medicinal purposes and cost-effective production of natural health products.  相似文献

This study was aimed to evaluate antioxidative activities of the ethanol, methanol and water extracts of Pulicaria gnaphalodes in vegetable oil during the storage period. Different concentrations (0, 200, 400 and 800 ppm) of ethanol, methanol and water extracts and beta-hydroxy toluene (BHT; 100, 200 ppm) were added to soybean oil and incubated for 35 days at 65 °C. Peroxide values (PVs) and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance (TBARS) levels were measured every week during the period of the study. Moreover, antioxidant capacities of the extracts were determined using DPPH and β-carotene–linoleic acid methods. Values were compared among groups in each incubation time points using ANOVA. Results showed that DPPH and β-carotene–linoleic acid assay findings on the P. gnaphalodes extracts were comparable to those found on BHT. Moreover, during incubation time, P. gnaphalodes extracts lowered PVs and TBARS levels when compared to the control (p < 0.001). In this respect, water extract was more potent than the ethanol and methanol extracts. It seems that water extract of P. gnaphalodes is a potent antioxidant which makes it as a potential antioxidant for oil and oily products during storage.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to test contribution of plant-associated microorganism (PAMs) to metabolite stability/instability in a medicinal plant matrix.Therefore, PAM strains were isolated and identified based on relevant DNA sequences from Plantago lanceolata leaves. Sterile water extracts of P. lanceolata were incubated with the isolated strains and antioxidants (ascorbic acid (AA), and EDTA) for 15 days, and changes in the concentrations of chief bioactive constituents (aucubin, catalpol, acteoside (=verbascoside)) were quantified by capillary electrophoresis. Phenolic breakdown-products were identified by GC–MS.PAMs were identified from the genera Epicoccum, Bipolaris, Cladosporium, Leptosphaerulina, Aspergillus, Eurotium and Penicillium (pathongens, endophytes, and other species). Some fungi caused significant decomposition of the chief constituents (p < 0.001). Surprisingly, some strains inhibited breakdown of acteoside (p < 0.001). Meanwhile, concentration of several phenolic acids increased in fungi-infested extracts (p < 0.001). Gentisic acid, 4-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid and hydroxytyrosol were only present when the extract was infested with a PAM. The products are powerful antioxidants and chelators. Concentrations of phenolic acids influenced acteoside stability significantly (p < 0.01), as shown by basic data-mining techniques. AA and EDTA also significantly inhibited acteoside breakdown in sterile model solutions (p < 0.05).Our results suggest that the phenolic acid mixture (produced during the fungal proliferation) protected acteoside from breakdown, possibly via its antioxidant activity and metal complexing ability. It was shown that PAMs can increase or decrease the stability of chief metabolites in herbal matrices, and can significantly alter the chemical pattern of the plant matrix.  相似文献

Growing exclusively on stout camphor trees in Taiwan, Antrodia cinnamomea is known for its extraordinary antioxidant and antitumor activities. As an alternative to the limited supply of natural source, cultured A. cinnamomea from solid state or submerged liquid fermentation still offers many of its medicinal effects. To further enhance the production of functional compounds and corresponding activities, oat, wheat, buckwheat and pearl barley were used as substrates for solid state fermentation of A. cinnamomea in this study. Among these cereal-based culturing, the methanol extract of A. cinnamomea mycelia grown on oats showed stronger overall antioxidant properties. EC50 for the antioxidant activity (conjugated diene method), the DPPH radicals scavenging ability and reducing power were estimated to be around 0.57 mg/mL, 1.07 mg/mL and 0.31 mg/mL, respectively. Incubating cultured cells with 150 ppm of the oat-cultured mycelial extract for 24 h greatly reduced the viability of MCF-7 breast cancer cells and HepG2 hepatocellular carcinoma cells to 29% and 76%, while 3T3 normal fibroblasts were virtually unaffected. In general, cereal-based solid state fermentation of A. cinnamomea produced more of the secondary metabolites and their methanolic extracts showed stronger antioxidant and anti-tumor activities than extracts obtained from liquid fermentation at the same concentration.  相似文献

Retama raetam is a medicinal and aromatic plant present in the humid to the arid bioclimatic regions of Tunisia. In this work, we investigated R. raetam shoots antioxidant and antimicrobial activities and its natural antioxidant contents obtained from four fractions (petroleum ether, acetone 60%, ethyl acetate and water). Results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction exhibits the highest antioxidant activity as compared to the other ones. In fact, IC50 values of ethyl acetate extract were equal to 33.5, 500 and 1380 μg/ml (DPPH and ABTS radicals scavenging activity and reducing power, respectively). Accordingly, this fraction presented the highest total polyphenol and flavonoid contents (401 mg GAE/g DR and 33.21 mg CE/g DR, respectively). Moreover, RP-HPLC analysis showed that syringic acid and coumarin were the major phenolic compounds. Furthermore, this moderately polar fraction showed considerable antibacterial properties against human pathogen strains especially against Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus. Finally, fractionation allows the identification of R. raetam most active molecules and therefore the optimization of their utilization. Our findings pointed out the appropriate solvent for extracting R. raetam potent phenolics which might provide a rich and novel source of natural antioxidants as food additives replacing synthetic ones in food industry.  相似文献

Evaluation of antioxidant and anticancer activities were screened by various Saururus chinensis root extracts. Four solvents (ethyl acetate, methanol, ethanol, and water) extracts were investigated for their total flavonoids, phenol contents and their antioxidant activity of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), NO (nitric oxide), H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide), ABTS 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonicacid)diammonium assays, FRAP (ferric reducing ability of plasma) assays and anticancer activity. The total phenolic and flavonoid content of extracts were determined by using FC (Folin–Ciocalteu) and AlCl3 colorimetric assay method. Total flavonoid content in these plants ranged from 24.7 to 72.1 mg g?1 and amount of free phenolic compounds was between 11.2 and 67.1 mg g?1 extract. The all extracts have significant levels of phenolics and flavonoids content. Anticancer activity was screened for MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Ethanol extract shows significant of antioxidant activity and water extract shows significant of anticancer activity compared with standard (BHT) butylated hydroxy toluene. These ethanol and water extracts could be considered as a natural source for using antioxidant, and anticancer agents compared to commercial available synthetic drugs.  相似文献

An attempt to overcome fungal resistance is the combination of antifungal agents, especially those with different mechanisms of action.AimsEvaluate the in vitro interactions of combinations of voriconazole or itraconazole with other antifungal agents against 32 isolates of Fusarium spp.: Fusarium chlamydosporum, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium proliferatum and Fusarium solani.MethodsDrug interactions were assessed by a checkerboard microdilution method that also included the determination of the MIC of each drug alone according to CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) document M38-A2, 2008.ResultsThe best combinations were voriconazole + terbinafine which showed synergism against 84% of Fusarium strains. Other synergistic combinations were voriconazole + itraconazole (50%), voriconazole + fluconazole (50%), voriconazole + miconazole (38%), voriconazole + flucytosine (22%) and voriconazole + ketoconazole (25%). The synergisms observed with itraconazole combinations were itraconazole + terbinafine (25%) and itraconazole + flucytosine (9.37%). The antagonisms observed were: voriconazole + fluconazole (3%) and itraconazole + flucytosine (12.5%).ConclusionsThe synergism showed by voriconazole + terbinafine was remarkable. To better elucidate the potential usefulness of our findings, new in vivo and in vitro studies deserve be performed.  相似文献

Indigenous leafy vegetables possess high horticultural potential based on their long utilisation history by local communities across Africa. Phytochemical and antioxidant properties of 50% aqueous methanol and water extracts of three indigenous as well as two commercial leafy vegetables commonly consumed in southern Africa were evaluated. The total extractable phenolic content was highest for Amarathus dubius (5.16 ± 0.12 mg GAE/g DW) followed by Cleome gynandra (3.94 ± 0.09 mg GAE/g DW). Total flavonoid concentration was highest for A. dubius (3.89 ± 0.28 mg CE/g DW) followed by C. gynandra (2.19 ± 0.11 mg CE/g DW) and Cucurbita maxima (1.55 ± 0.04 mg CE/g DW). No proanthocyanidins were detected in C. maxima and Brassica napus cv Covo whereas low concentrations were recorded in other vegetables. Total saponins were variable across the evaluated extracts, with the highest concentrations recorded for B. napus cv Covo (83.2 ± 16.58 mg DE/g DW). Total iridoid content was highest for C. gynandra (9.14 ± 0.20 mg HE/g DW). More potent DPPH radical scavenging activities were exhibited by 50% aqueous methanol extracts compared to water extracts. A similar trend was observed in the ferric-reducing antioxidant power assay. The antioxidant activity based on the rate of β-carotene bleaching was higher for water extracts compared to 50% aqueous methanol extracts. The indigenous vegetables evaluated in this study had higher levels of phytochemicals and also exhibited more potent antioxidant activity compared to the commercial varieties. These findings not only suggest the importance of the indigenous vegetables in a healthy diet, but also provide a motivation for exploring their horticultural potential.  相似文献
