Intraleft dyssynchrony is strongly correlated to contractile dysfunction associated to severe heart failure. Dyssynchrony is also a predictive marker for cardiac resynchronization therapy response. We measured dyssynchrony values for both ventricles from gated blood pool SPECT images.Material and methodsThree groups of patients were sampled from normal patients (n = 7), mild heart failure patients (n = 24) and severe heart failure patients (n = 9). Time-derivative parametric images were obtained from 24-time bins gated blood pool SPECT data. We measured intraleft and interventricular contractile and relaxing dyssynchrony values from these images.ResultsIntraleft dispersions values linked to ventricular peak emptying rate were 107 ± 21 ms, 141 ± 58 ms and 515 ± 104 ms for each of the three groups. The values linked to left ventricular peak filling rate were 122 ± 62 ms, 219 ± 117 ms and 603 ± 164 ms respectively. Statistical significant differences (p < 0.01) were observed both for contractile and relaxing phases for severe heart failure patients. Mild heart failure patients had isolated statistical significant (p < 0.01) alterations of the ventricular relaxing phase. Correlation between isotopic dyssynchrony values and left ejection fraction led to a R square coefficient of 0.71 and 0.64 for time to peak emptying and to peak filling respectively. Correlation to QRS width values led to a R square coefficient of 0.76 and 0.62 respectively.ConclusionVentricular dyssynchrony correlated to the importance of the ventricular mechanical dysfunctions is a robust predictor of heart failure. Separate analysis of contractile and relaxing dyssynchrony may lead to a better understanding and characterization of the mechanical dysfunctions involved in heart failure.  相似文献

Surface structure of myofibrils of rabbit skeletal muscle and their transverse elasticity were studied by atomic force microscopy. Images of myofibrils had a periodic structure characteristic of sarcomeres of skeletal muscle fibers. The transverse elasticity distribution in the sarcomere was determined based on force-distance curves measured at various loci of single myofibrils. The Z-line in rigor myofibrils was the most rigid in all the loci of myofibrils studied under various physiological conditions. The overall transverse elasticity of myofibrils decreased in the order in rigor solution > +AMPPNP solution > relaxing solution. The "apparent" transverse Young's modulus of myofibrils estimated at the overlap region between thin and thick filaments was 84.0 +/- 18.1, 37.5 +/- 14.0, and 11.5 +/- 3.5 kPa in rigor, +AMPPNP, and relaxing solution respectively.  相似文献

The capability of Bacillus subtilis spores to withstand extreme environmental conditions is thought to be conferred especially by their outermost proteinaceous protective layer, called the spore coat. Of the over 70 proteins that form the spore coat, only a small subset of them affect its morphogenesis, they are referred to as morphogenetic proteins. In this study we investigated the interaction between two spore coat morphogenetic proteins SpoVID and CotE. SpoVID is involved in the process of spore surface encirclement by individual coat proteins, these include CotE, which controls the assembly of the outer coat layer. Both proteins were proposed to be recruited to a common protein scaffold, but their direct association has not been previously shown. Here we studied the interactions between CotE and SpoVID in vitro for the first time by using molecule recognition force spectroscopy, which allows the detection of piconewton forces between conjugated biological pairs and also facilitates the investigation of dynamic processes. The most probable CotE–CotE unbinding force was 49.4 ± 0.1 pN at a loading rate of 3.16 × 103 pN/s while that of SpoVID–CotE was 26.5 ± 0.6 pN at a loading rate of 7.8 × 102 pN/s. We further analyzed the interactions with the bacterial two hybrid system and pull-down experiments, which also indicate that SpoVID interacts directly with CotE. In combination with the previously identified direct contacts among SpoIVA, SpoVID and SafA, our data imply that the physical association of key morphogenetic proteins forms a basic skeleton where other coat proteins could be attached.  相似文献

Changes in pyruvate and ascorbate production and antioxidant enzyme activities together with lipid peroxidation levels in Fusarium equiseti were investigated in relation to changes in the concentrations of glucose and maltose as carbon sources in the range of 5–25 g/l in Armstrong Fusarium Medium (AFM). The highest pyruvate concentration obtained at 20 g/l maltose was 67.5 ± 0.69 μg/ml while ascorbic acid reached a maximum value at 25 g/l glucose of 1866±26.1 μg/ml The maximum superoxide dismutas (SOD) activities related to increased pyruvate production were determined in AFM medium containing 20 g/l glucose as 41.49±0.65 and maltose as 61.12±0.8 IU/mg. Catalase (CAT) activity variations showed coherence with SOD activity in a medium containing maltose and reached 219.11±2.8 IU/mg while they were decreased with increasing glucose concentration. glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities in F. equiseti did not change significantly with glucose and maltose concentration and were determined to be 1.21±0.22 and 1.67±0.15 IU/mg, respectively. Minimum lipid peroxidation levels for each carbon source were determined in both 20 g/l maltose and glucose concentrations as 0.9 and 1.62 nmol MDA/g wet weight.  相似文献

The cocoon of insect larvae is thought to help conserve water while affording mechanical protection. If the cocoon is a barrier to water loss, then it must also impose a barrier to inward oxygen diffusion. We tested this hypothesis in pupae of the silkworm, Bombyx mori. The rate of water loss and oxygen uptake (V?O2) at 25 °C was measured in control pupae in their naturally spun cocoon and in exposed pupae experimentally removed from their cocoon. Additional measurements included the oxygen diffusion coefficient, DO2, of the cocoon wall and dimensions and density of the cocoon fibers. Water loss (as % body mass loss) in both control and exposed pupae was ~ 1%.day? 1, and was not significantly different between populations. Similarly, V?O2 was statistically identical in both control and exposed pupae, at 0.22 ± 0.01 and 0.21 ± 0.02 mL g? 1 · h? 1, respectively. The silk fiber diameter was significantly different in the outer fibers, 26 ± 1 µm, compared with 16 ± 1 µm for the inner fibers lining the cocoon. Inner fibers were also spun significantly more densely (20.8 ± 1.2 mm? 1 transect) than outer fibers (8.3 ± 0.2). Mean DO2 at 25 °C was 0.298 ± 0.002 cm2 · s? 1, approximately the same as unstirred air. These data indicate that the cocoon, while creating a tough barrier offering mechanical protection to the pupa, imposes no barrier to the diffusion of oxygen or water vapor.  相似文献

Connectin (also called titin) is a huge, striated muscle protein that binds to thick filaments and links them to the Z-disc. Using an mAb that binds to connectin in the I-band region of the molecule, we studied the behavior of connectin in both relaxed and activated skinned rabbit psoas fibers by immunoelectron microscopy. In relaxed fibers, antibody binding is visualized as two extra striations per sarcomere arranged symmetrically about the M-line. These striations move away from both the nearest Z-disc and the thick filaments when the sarcomere is stretched, confirming the elastic behavior of connectin within the I- band of relaxed sarcomeres as previously observed by several investigators. When the fiber is activated, thick filaments in sarcomeres shorter than 2.8 microns tend to move from the center to the side of the sarcomere. This translocation of thick filaments within the sarcomere is accompanied by movement of the antibody label in the same direction. In that half-sarcomere in which the thick filaments move away from the Z-disc, the spacings between the Z-disc and the antibody and between the antibody and the thick filaments both increase. Conversely, on the side of the sarcomere in which the thick filaments move nearer to the Z-line, these spacings decrease. Regardless of whether I-band spacing is varied by stretch of a relaxed sarcomere or by active sliding of thick filaments within a sarcomere of constant length, the spacings between the Z-line and the antibody and between the antibody and the thick filaments increase with I-band length identically. These results indicate that the connectin filaments remain bound to the thick filaments in active fibers, and that the elastic properties of connectin are unaltered by calcium ions and cross-bridge activity.  相似文献

A newly built 200-L-pilot plant was used for testing a novel chemo-enzymatic process for producing fine flax fibers without the weather-associated risks of dew retting. Raw, green and decorticated flax fibers were placed inside trays in the tempered main tank of the pilot plant, where a vertically acting mechanism gently moved the parallel fiber bundles. The fibers were incubated in an alkaline bath, in a pectinolytic culture of Geobacillus thermoglucosidasius PB94A and in a peroxide-softener bath. Finally the fibers were dried, combed and hackled into a sliver that is ready for wet-spinning of linen yarns. A total of 140 kg of raw fibers were treated in 40 different experiments in the pilot plant. The resolution of the raw fibers improved from 7.3 to 2.7 ± 0.3 after the treatment. The fineness was enhanced from 37.4 dtex to 11.1 ± 1.2 dtex. The proposed pilot-plant process produced constant-quality fibers and could be easily up-scaled.  相似文献

PurposeThis study evaluates the radiological properties of different 3D printing materials for a range of photon energies, including kV and MV CT imaging and MV radiotherapy beams.MethodsThe CT values of a number of materials were measured on an Aquilion One CT scanner at 80 kVp, 120 kVp and a Tomotherapy Hi Art MVCT imaging beam. Attenuation of the materials in a 6 MV radiotherapy beam was investigated.ResultsPlastic filaments printed with various infill densities have CT values of −743 ± 4, −580 ± 1 and −113 ± 3 in 120 kVp CT images which approximate the CT values of low-density lung, high-density lung and soft tissue respectively. Metal-infused plastic filaments printed with a 90% infill density have CT values of 658 ± 1 and 739 ± 6 in MVCT images which approximate the attenuation of cortical bone. The effective relative electron density REDeff is used to describe the attenuation of a megavoltage treatment beam, taking into account effects relating to the atomic number and mass density of the material. Plastic filaments printed with a 90% infill density have REDeff values of 1.02 ± 0.03 and 0.94 ± 0.02 which approximate the relative electron density RED of soft tissue. Printed resins have REDeff values of 1.11 ± 0.03 and 1.09 ± 0.03 which approximate the RED of bone mineral.Conclusions3D printers can model a variety of body tissues which can be used to create phantoms useful for both imaging and dosimetric studies.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate the respiratory motion of adrenal gland metastases in three-dimensional directions using four-dimensional computed tomography (4DCT) images.MethodsFrom January 2013 to May 2016, 12 patients with adrenal gland metastases were included in this study. They all underwent 4DCT scans to assess respiratory motion of adrenal gland metastases in free breathing state. The 4DCT images were sorted into 10 image series according to the respiratory phase from the end inspiration to the end expiration, and then transferred to FocalSim workstation. All gross tumor volumes (GTVs) of adrenal gland metastases were drawn by a single physician and confirmed by a second. Relative coordinates of adrenal gland metastases were automatically generated to calculate adrenal gland metastases motion in different axial directions.ResultsThe average respiratory motion of adrenal gland metastases in left-right (LR), cranial-caudal (CC), anterior-posterior (AP), 3-dimensional (3D) vector directions was 3.4 ± 2.2 mm, 9.5 ± 5.5 mm, 3.8 ± 2.0 mm and 11.3 ± 5.3 mm, respectively. The ratios were 58.6% ± 11.4% and 63.2% ± 12.5% when the volumes of GTVIn0% and GTV In100% were compared with volume of IGTV10phase. The volume ratio of IGTV10phase to GTV3D was 1.73 ± 0.48.ConclusionsAdrenal gland metastasis is a respiration-induced moving target, and an internal target volume boundary should be provided when designing the treatment plan. The CC motion of adrenal gland metastasis is predominant and >5 mm, thus motion management strategies are recommended for patients undergoing external radiotherapy for adrenal gland metastasis.  相似文献

Motor unit properties were analyzed in patients with upper motor neuron syndrome (UMNS). Multi-channel surface electromyographic (EMG) signals were recorded for 300 s from the biceps brachii muscle of seven male subacute patients (time from lesion, mean ± SE, 4.9 ± 1.0 months). In three patients, both arms were investigated, leading to 10 recorded muscles. Patients were analyzed in rest-like condition with motor units activated due to pathological muscle overactivity. For a total of 12 motor units, the complete discharge pattern was extracted from EMG decomposition. Interpulse interval variability was 7.8 ± 0.9%. At minimum discharge rate (6.4 ± 0.4 pulses per second, pps), conduction velocity was smaller than at maximum discharge rate (12.0 ± 0.9 pps) in all motor units (3.60 ± 0.21 m/s vs. 3.84 ± 0.20 m/s). Conduction velocity changed by 1.35 ± 0.48% (different from zero, P < 0.01) for each increase of 1 pps in discharge rate. It was concluded that conduction velocity of low-threshold motor units in subacute patients with UMNS had similar values as reported in healthy subjects and was positively correlated to instantaneous discharge rate (velocity recovery function of muscle fibers).  相似文献

IntroductionWhen ictal and interictal brain SPECT are reconstructed with filtered backprojection (FBP), the noise level of subtraction images is frequently high and requires the use of thresholding methods. The aim of this study was to compare the subtraction images for cerebral SPECT reconstructed either with FBP or with a 3D iterative reconstruction method (OSEM-3D).Material and methodsAfter optimisation of the reconstruction parameters on phantom, the subtraction SPECT images, which were obtained with FBP or with OSEM-3D and coregistered with MRI images, were analyzed in 15 patients with refractory temporal epilepsy.ResultsOn phantom and with the constrain of high enough spatial resolution (full width at half of maximum for a punctual source less than or equal to 11 mm) were reached using: (i) a Butterworth filter with a cut-off frequency of 0.4 Nyquist at order 6 for FBP and (ii) five iterations, 16 subsets and a 9 mm gaussian filter for OSEM-3D. On the subtraction images, which were obtained with these optimal parameters, the temporal foci from patients were smaller with OSEM-3D than with FBP (11 ± 6 cm3 versus 17 ± 10 cm3, P = 0.02), mean voxel activities were equivalent between the two methods within temporal foci (6.30 ± 3.13 counts versus 6.34 ± 4.93 counts) but these activities were dramatically reduced by OSEM-3D within background regions (0.02 ± 0.02 counts versus 0.19 ± 0.12 counts, P < 0.001).ConclusionFor the ictal–interictal subtraction SPECT images, which are obtained in patients with refractory temporal epilepsy, the use of an optimized OSEM-3D method leads to dramatically reduce the volume of temporal foci, as well as the background noise level, two properties that are likely to facilitate the detection and localisation of epilepsy foci.  相似文献

It is not currently known how the mechanical properties of human tendons change with maturation in the two sexes. To address this, the stiffness and Young's modulus of the patellar tendon were measured in men, women, boys and girls (each group, n=10). Patellar tendon force (Fpt) was calculated from the measured joint moment during a ramped voluntary isometric knee extension contraction, the antagonist knee extensor muscle co-activation quantified from its electromyographical activity, and the patellar tendon moment arm measured from magnetic resonance images. Tendon elongation was imaged using the sagittal-plane ultrasound scans throughout the contraction. Tendon cross-sectional area was measured at rest from ultrasound scans in the transverse plane. Maximal Fpt and tendon elongation were (mean±SE) 5453±307 N and 5±0.5 mm for men, 3877±307 N and 4.9±0.6 mm for women, 2017±170 N and 6.2±0.5 mm for boys and 2169±182 N and 5.9±0.7 mm for girls. In all groups, tendon stiffness and Young's modulus were examined at the level that corresponded to the maximal 30% of the weakest participant's Fpt and stress, respectively; these were 925–1321 N and 11.5–16.5 MPa, respectively. Stiffness was 94% greater in men than boys and 84% greater in women than girls (p<0.01), with no differences between men and women, or boys and girls (men 1076±87 N/mm; women 1030±139 N/mm; boys 555±71 N/mm and girls 561.5±57.4 N/mm). Young's modulus was 99% greater in men than boys (p<0.01), and 66% greater in women than girls (p<0.05). There were no differences in modulus between men and women, or boys and girls (men 597±49 MPa; women 549±70 MPa; boys 255±42 MPa and girls 302±33 MPa). These findings indicate that the mechanical stiffness of tendon increases with maturation due to an increased Young's modulus and, in females due to a greater increase in tendon cross-sectional area than tendon length.  相似文献

IntroductionWe evaluated the impact of 4DCT artifacts on carbon-ion pencil beam scanning dose distributions in lung and liver treatment. Methods & materials4DCT was performed in 20 liver and lung patients using area-detector CT (original 4DCT). 4DCT acquisition by multi-detector row CT was simulated using original 4DCT by selecting other phases randomly (plus/minus 20% phases). Since tumor position can move over the respiratory range in original 4DCT, mid-exhalation was set as reference phase. Total prescribed dose of 60 Gy (RBE) was delivered to the clinical target volume (CTV). Reference dose distribution was calculated with the original CT, and actual dose distributions were calculated with treatment planning parameters optimized using the simulated CT (simulated dose). Dose distribution was calculated by substituting these parameters into the original CT.ResultsFor liver cases, CTV-D95 and CTV-Dmin values for the reference dose were 97.6 ± 0.5% and 89.8 ± 0.6% of prescribed dose, respectively. Values for the simulated dose were significantly degraded, to 88.6 ± 14.0% and 46.3 ± 26.7%, respectively. Dose assessment results for lung cases were 84.8 ± 12.8% and 58.0 ± 24.5% for the simulated dose, showing significant degradation over the reference dose of 95.1 ± 1.5% and 87.0 ± 2.2%, respectively.Conclusions4DCT image quality should be closely checked to minimize degradation of dose conformation due to 4DCT artifacts. Medical staff should pay particular attention to checking the quality of 4DCT images as a function of respiratory phase, because it is difficult to recognize 4DCT artifact on a single phase in some cases  相似文献

IntroductionBright light exposure during the day has a positive effect on health and its deficit can cause multiple physiological and cognitive disorders, including depression. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of bright light therapy (BLT) on the quality of sleep and mood emotional state; cognitive status, global deterioration and quality of life in institutionalized elderly.Material and methodsThis is a study with repeated measures design. Thirty-seven older people admitted to a nursing home. The study lasted 3 weeks. The first week, the reference values were established with the Oviedo Sleep Questionnaire, Yesavage Depression Scale, Mini-Mental, Global Scale of Impairment and European Quality of Life Questionnaire. During the second week, they were exposed to BLT (7,000-10,000 lx at eye level) between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. During the third week, all the data were re-evaluated.ResultsAll variables improved significantly after the application of light therapy. Sleep (COS) pre-test 4.1 ± 1.49, post-test 4.9 ± 1.46, p: 0.01), mood (pre-test 3.65 ± 2.78, post-test 2.65 ± 2.9, p: 0.01), cognitive state (pre-test 22.72 ± 6.53, post-test 24 ± 5.92, p: 0.001), state of global deterioration (pre-test 3.10 ± 1.26, post-test 2.72 ± 5.92, p: 0.001) and health-related quality of life (pre-test 6.93 ± 1.86, post-test 7.82 ± 1.62, p: 0.001).ConclusionsSleep quality, mood, cognitive status, global deterioration status and quality of life significantly improved after the application of light bright therapy.  相似文献

Our previous studies have shown that diabetes in the male streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rat is characterized by a decrease in circulating testosterone and concomitant increase in estradiol levels. Interestingly, this increase in estradiol levels persists even after castration, suggesting extra-testicular origins of estradiol in diabetes. The aim of the present study was to examine whether other target organs of diabetes may be sources of estradiol. The study was performed in male Sprague–Dawley non-diabetic (ND), STZ-induced diabetic (D) and STZ-induced diabetic castrated (Dcas) rats (n = 8–9/group). 14 weeks of diabetes was associated with decreased testicular (ND, 26.3 ± 4.19; D, 18.4 ± 1.54; P < 0.05), but increased renal (ND, 1.83 ± 0.92; D, 7.85 ± 1.38; P < 0.05) and ocular (D, 23.4 ± 3.66; D, 87.1 ± 28.1; P < 0.05) aromatase activity. This increase in renal (Dcas, 6.30 ± 1.25) and ocular (Dcas, 62.7 ± 11.9) aromatase activity persisted after castration. The diabetic kidney also had increased levels of tissue estrogen (ND, 0.31 ± 0.01; D, 0.51 ± 0.11; Dcas, 0.45 ± 0.08) as well as estrogen receptor alpha protein expression (ND, 0.63 ± 0.09; D, 1.62 ± 0.28; Dcas, 1.38 ± 0.20). These data suggest that in male STZ-induced diabetic rats, tissues other than the testis may become sources of estradiol. In particular, the diabetic kidney appears to produce estradiol following castration, a state that is associated with a high degree or renal injury. Overall, our data provides evidence for the extra-testicular source of estradiol that in males, through an intracrine mechanism, may contribute to the development and/or progression of end-organ damage associated with diabetes.  相似文献

Apart from acetyl-choline (Ach), adenosine-5′-trisphosphate (ATP) is thought to play a role in neuromuscular function, however little information is available on its cellular physiology. As such, effects of ATP and adenosine on contractility of mice diaphragmatic and skeletal muscles (m. extensor digitorum longa—MEDL) have been investigated in in vitro experiments. Application of carbacholine (CCh) in vitro in different concentrations led to pronounced muscle contractions, varying from 9.15 ± 4.76 to 513.13 ± 15.4 mg and from 44.65 ± 5.01 to 101.46 ± 9.11 mg for diaphragm and MEDL, respectively. Two hundred micromolars of CCh in both muscles caused the contraction with the 65% (diaphragm) to 75% (MEDL) of maximal contraction force—this concentration was thus used in further experiments. It was found that application of ATP (100 μM) increased the force of diaphragmatic contraction caused by CCh (200 μM) from 335.2 ± 51.4 mg (n = 21) in controls to 426.5 ± 47.8 mg (n = 10; P < 0.05), but decreased the contractions of MEDL of CCh from 76.6 ± 6.5 mg (n = 26) in control to 40.2 ± 9.0 mg (n = 8; P < 0.05). Application of adenosine (100 μM) had no effect on CCh-induced contractions of these muscles.Resting membrane potential (MP) measurements using sharp electrodes were done at 10, 20 and 30 min after the application of ATP and adenosine. Diaphragm showed depolarization from 75 ± 0.6 down to 63.2 ± 1.05, 57.2 ± 0.96 and 53.6 ± 1.1 mV after 10, 20 and 30 min of exposition, respectively (20 fibers from 4 muscles each, P < 0.05 in all three cases). Adenosine showed no effect on diaphragmatic MP. Both agents were ineffective in case of MEDL.The effects of ATP in both tissues were abolished by suramin (100 μM), a P2-receptor antagonist, and chelerythrin (50 μM), a specific protein-kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, but were not affected by 1H-[1,2,4]-oxadiazolo-[4,3-α]-quinoxalin-1-one (ODQ, 1 μM), a guanylyl-cyclase inhibitor, or by adenosine-3,5-monophosphothioate (Rp-cAMP, 1 μM), a protein-kinase A (PKA) inhibitor.Besides the action on contractile activity, ATP (100 μM) led to a significant (P < 0.001) depolarization of diaphragm muscle fibers from 74.5 ± 2.3 down to 64 ± 2.1, 58.2 ± 2.2 and 54.3 ± 2.4 mV after 10, 20 and 30 min of incubation, respectively. Incubation of MEDL with the same ATP concentration showed no significant change of MP.Denervation of the muscles for 28 days led to a decrease of CCh-induced contractions of diaphragm down to 171.1 ± 34.5 mg (n = 11, P < 0.05), but increased the contractile force of MEDL up to 723.9 ± 82.3 mg (n = 9, P < 0.01). Application of ATP elevated the contractility of denervated diaphragm caused by CCh up to normal values (311.1 ± 79.7 mg, n = 6, P > 0.05 versus control), but did not significantly affect of contractility of MEDL, which became 848.1 ± 62.7 mg (n = 6).These results show that the effects of ATP on both diaphragmatic and skeletal muscles are mediated through P2Y receptors coupled to chelerytrin-sensitive protein-kinase C.  相似文献

Due to the cytotoxic effect of antimicrobial peptides (AMP) against several microorganism and tumor cells has been proposed their association with the immune system. However, just a few reports have shown this relationship. In this study, mice were treated with gomesin, a β-hairpin AMP that exhibit high cytotoxicity against bacterial and tumor cells. Different effects in the immune system were observed, such as, decrease of CD3+ in T lymphocytes (Control: 17.7 ± 1.4%; Gomesin: 7.67 ± 1.2%) and in hematopoietic progenitors and increase of hematopoietic stem cell (Control: 0.046 ± 0.004%; Gomesin: 0.067 ± 0.003%), B220+ B lymphocytes (Control: 38.63 ± 1.5%; Gomesin: 47.83 ± 0.48%), and Mac-1+F4/80+ macrophages (Control: 11.76 ± 3.4%; Gomesin: 27.13 ± 4.0%). Additionally, macrophage increase was accompanied by an increase of macrophage phagocytosis (Control 20.85 ± 1.53; Gomesin 31.32 ± 1 Geometric mean), interleukin 6 (Control: 47.24 ± 1.9 ng/mL; Gomesin: 138.68 ± 33.68 ng/mL) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (Control: 0.872 ± 0.093 ng/mL; Gomesin: 1.83 ± 0.067 ng/mL). Thus, this report showed immunomodulatory activity of gomesin in the immune system of mice.  相似文献

Three processed products derived from the green algae C. vulgaris were investigated: (1) spray-dried only (S-DA); (2) spray-dried and electroporated (ES-DA); (3) spray-dried; ultrasonicated treated (US-DA). A nitrogen-balance study was performed. Male growing Wistar rats, housed separately in metabolism cages, were fed the three algal products as the sole protein source at 150 mg N per 100 g of body weight. A control group of rats was fed with casein at a level to give the same protein nitrogen intake. The coefficients of total intestinal tract apparent crude protein digestibility for the different C. vulgaris products were: S-DA = 0.47 ± 0.127% (mean ± S.D.), ES-DA = 0.44 ± 0.075%, US-DA = 0.57 ± 0.137%. Protein efficiency ratio was 1.4 ± 0.3, 1.0 ± 0.5 and 2.1 ± 0.3, respectively. N-balance was 41.86 ± 32.8 mg, 31.3 ± 17.3 mg and 66.7 ± 30.1 mg, respectively. The biological value was 93 ± 9.5%, 93.6 ± 10%, and 101 ± 5%, respectively. The coefficient of total intestinal tract apparent crude protein digestibility and biological value of C. vulgaris was enhanced by ultrasonic treatment and reduced by electroporating, thus ultrasonication may be a helpful technological process in practical processing of green algae in food industry.  相似文献

Progesterone concentration was measured in specific brain regions of the ram and anestrous ewe to provide reference values for future studies to investigate if local CNS lesions resulting from neurodegenerative diseases of sheep are associated with progesterone loss. Using radioimmunoassay, plasma progesterone was recorded throughout all brain regions assayed. No significant differences were found between the ewe and ram for any brain regions. There were however, significant differences between the different regions of an individual brain (P < 0.05). Plasma progesterone concentration for the highest to the lowest value recorded was as follows: 2.93 ± 0.85 and 2.77 ± 0.51 ng/g in the frontal cortex; 2.33 ± 0.67 and 2.25 ± 0.48 ng/g in the parietal cortex; 1.32 ± 0.36 and 1.29 ± 0.35 ng/g in the temporal cortex; 1.25 ± 0.32 and 1.25 ± 0.31 ng/g in the occipital cortex; 1.24 ± 0.30 and 1.23 ± 0.31 ng/g in the corpus callosum; 1.16 ± 0.30 and 1.21 ± 0.38 ng/g in the cerebellum; 1.09 ± 0.30 and 1.12 ± 0.39 ng/g in the medulla oblongata of the ewe and ram, respectively. Plasma progesterone concentration in the ewe (0.28 ± 0.06 ng/ml) was significantly higher than that in the ram (0.10 ± 0.03 ng/ml) (P < 0.001). Furthermore, plasma progesterone concentration in all sheep was several times lower than that of any regions of the brain. The results indicate that the sheep brain accumulates progesterone in significant levels, which may be independent of the circulating progesterone. The brain progesterone concentration in CNS regions assayed was similar for the ram and anestrous ewe. Neurodegenerative processes in visna, border disease and enzootic ataxia should be questioned in further studies if they are associated with local progesterone loss.  相似文献
