Multiple crop experiment of hyperaccumulator Solanum nigrum L. with low accumulation Chinese cabbage Fenyuanxin 3 were conducted in a cadmium (Cd) contaminated vegetable field. In the first round, the average removal rate of S. nigrum to Cd was about 10% without assisted phytoextraction reagent addition for the top soil (0–20 cm) with Cd concentration at 0.53–0.97 mg kg?1 after its grew 90 days. As for assisted phytoextraction reagent added plots, efficiency of Cd remediation might reach at 20%. However, in the second round, Cd concentration in Chinese cabbage was edible, even in the plots with assisted phytoextraction reagent added. Thus, multiple cropping hyperaccumulator with low accumulation crop could normally remediate contaminated soil and produce crop (obtain economic benefit) in one year, which may be one practical pathway of phytoremediating heavy metal contaminated soil in the future.  相似文献

A glasshouse pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of phytoextraction by Sedum plumbizincicola and application of rapeseed cake (RSC) on heavy metal accumulation by a subsequent rice (Oryza sativa L.) crop in a contaminated paddy soil collected from east China. After phytoextraction by S. plumbizincicola the soil and brown rice Cd concentrations effectively declined. After phytoextraction, RSC application reduced brown rice Cd concentrations in the subsequent rice crop to 0.23–0.28 mg kg?1, almost down to the standard limit (0.2 mg kg?1). After phytoextraction and then application of RSC, the soil solution pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) concentrations increased during early stages of rice growth resulting directly and indirectly in lowering the bioavailability of the heavy metals. Thus the grain yield of the subsequent rice crop increased and the heavy metals in the brown rice declined significantly. In this contaminated acid soil, growing the hyperaccumulator S. plumbizincicola and rice in rotation together with RSC application may therefore be regarded as a viable strategy for safe grain production and bioremediation.  相似文献

A pot culture experiment was used to determine the differences in uptake characteristics of a cadmium hyperaccumulator Solanum nigrum L. discovered in China, an ecotype from Melbourne, Australia and a non-hyperaccumulator Solanum melogena. Australian ecotype was not significantly different to the China ecotype. In particular, Cd concentration in leaves and shoots of S. nigrum collected from Australia were 166.0 and 146.3 mg kg?1 respectively when 20 mg kg?1 Cd spiked, and were not significantly different to the ecotype imported from China which had 109.8 and 85.3 mg kg?1 respectively, in the stems and leaves. In contrast, the tolerance of the eggplant to Cd was significantly less than the two S. nigrum ecotypes. Although some morphological properties of S. nigrum collected from Australia were different from that of the plants collected from China, Cd hyperaccumulator characteristics of two ecotypes were similar. The results suggested that the tolerance and uptake of Cd may be a constitutive trait of this species.  相似文献

The role of same amendment on phytoremediating different level contaminated soils is seldom known. Soil pot culture experiment was used to compare the strengthening roles of cysteine (CY), EDTA, salicylic acid (Sa), and Tween 80 (TW) on hyperaccumulator Solanum nigrum L. phytoremediating higher level of single cadmium (Cd) or Benzo(a)pyrene (BAP) and their co-contaminated soils. Results showed that the Cd capacities (ug pot?1) in shoots of S. nigrum in the combined treatment T0.1EDTA+0.9CY were the highest for the 5 and 15 mg kg?1 Cd contaminated soils. When S. nigrum remediating co-contaminated soils with higher levels of Cd and BAP, that is, 5 mg kg?1 Cd + 1 mg kg?1 BAP and 15 mg kg?1 Cd + 2 mg kg?1 BAP, the treatment T0.9CY+0.9Sa+0.3TW showed the best enhancing remediation role. This results were different with co-contaminated soil with 0.771 mg kg?1 Cd + 0.024 mg kg?1 BAP. These results may tell us that the combine used of CY, SA, and TW were more useful for the contaminated soils with higher level of Cd and/or BAP. In the combined treatments of Sa+TW, CY was better than EDTA.  相似文献

Cd hyperaccumulator Solanum nigrum L. was a promising plant used to simultaneously remediate Cd-PAHs combined pollution soil through its extra accumulation capacity and rhizosphere degradation. This article compared the strengthening remediation role of cysteine (Cys), glycine (Gly) and glutamic acid (Glu) with EDTA and TW80. The results showed that the addition of 0.03 mmol L?1 Cys, Gly, and Glu didn't significantly impact (p < 0.05) shoot biomass of S. nigrum, but obviously increased Cd concentration. Therefore, Cd capacity (µg pot?1) in shoots of S. nigrum was significantly increased (p < 0.05) by 37.7% compared to the control without reagent added. At the meantime, the PAHs degradation ratio in rhizoshpere was increased by 34.5%. Basically, the improving role of Cys, Gly, and Glu was higher than EDTA and TW80. The main reasons of enhanced the accumulation of S. nigrum to Cd might lie in the addition of Cys, Gly, and Glu which reduced pH and increased extractable Cd concentration in rhizosphere and phytochelatines (PCs) concentration in leaves. As for the degradation of PAHs in rhizosphere, increased microorganism number might be play important role.  相似文献

A two-year in-situ phytoremediation trial was launched in Shenyang Zhangshi (Sewage) Irrigation Area (SZIA). The phytoremediation efficiency of Solanum nigrum L. was determined, by both monitoring the change of soil Cadmium level in the upper 20 cm of soil, and calculating the plant uptake of soil Cd. After two years experimental, by monitoring the soil Cd concentrations, The Cd concentrations decreased on average from 2.75 mg kg?1to 2.45 mg kg?1 in the first year and from 2.33 mg kg?1 to 1.53 mg kg?1 in the second year, amounting to a decrease by a factor of 10.6% in the first year and 12% in the second year. After two years phytoremediation by S. nigrum, Cd concentrations of the seven experimental plots with S. nigrum growth decreased from 2.75 mg kg?1 to 1.53 mg kg?1, a decrease by a factor of 24.9%. And the soil Cd concentration decreased only 2.1% and 1.7% in the bared experimental plot. And the calculating of Cd uptake by S. nigrum shown that, the plants uptake 4.46% and 5.18% of the total soil Cd in 2008 and 2009, while the soil Cd concentrations decreased by a factor of 10.6% in 2008 and 12.1% in 2009.  相似文献

Phytoextraction is a technique using a hyperaccumulator to remove heavy metals from soil. The efficiency of heavy metal uptake can be enhanced by the inoculation of endophytes. In this study, we isolated and identified 23 endophytes from Chromolaena odorata, a cadmium (Cd) hyperaccumulator that consisted of 19 bacteria, 2 actinomycetes and 2 fungi. All bacteria and fungi could produce at least 1 plant growth promoting factors. However, only 4 bacterial isolates; Paenibacillus sp. SB12, Bacillus sp. SB31, Bacillus sp. LB51, and Alcaligenes sp. RB54 showed the highest minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value (2.9 mM), followed by Exiguobacterium sp.RB51 (1.7 mM). Then, these 5 high-MIC bacteria and 1 low-MIC bacterium, Bacillus sp. LB15 were inoculated onto sunflower grown in soil supplemented with 250 mg/kg of Cd. After 60 days, all inoculated plants accumulated significantly higher Cd concentration than the non-inoculated counterparts, and those inoculated with strain LB51 showed the highest Cd accumulation and growth. Interestingly, strain LB15 with low MIC also enhanced Cd accumulation in plants. The results suggest that these bacteria, particularly strain LB51, could be applied to improve Cd accumulation in plants, and that bacteria with low MIC also have the potential to enhance the efficiency of phytoextraction.  相似文献

The influence of various cadmium concentrations on organic acid levels in leaves of the Cd hyperaccumulator, Solanum nigrum L. and a closely related species, Solanum melongena L., were investigated. In particular, the relationship of organic acids with Cd accumulation in the two plants was investigated. The results showed that Cd accumulation in the shoots of S. nigrum was significantly higher than that of S. melongena. The accumulation of Cd in the leaves of S. nigrum ranged from 2.0 to 167.8 μg g−1 dry weight (DW), but only from 1.2 to 64.0 μg g−1 DW in S. melongena. Solanum melongena was considerably less tolerant to Cd than S. nigrum. Approximately 20% of the total Cd in S. nigrum leaves was water-soluble, suggesting that some accumulated Cd was associated with water-soluble compounds such as organic acids. Malic acid in the leaves of S. nigrum was the most abundant organic acid [up to 115.6–145.7 μmol g−1 fresh weight (FW)], but this acid was not significantly affected by the Cd concentration in soil. However, the level of malic acid in S. melongena plants was much lower, only 16.3–75.4 μmol g−1 FW. The significant positive correlations between total Cd and water-soluble Cd concentrations and both acetic and citric acid concentrations in the leaves of S. nigrum were observed. In contrast, there was no correlation between concentrations of the two acids and Cd concentrations in the leaves of S. melongena. These results indicated that acetic and citric acids in the leaves of S. nigrum might be related to its Cd hyperaccumulation.  相似文献

Enhancing of Phytoremediation Efficiency Using Indole-3-Acetic Acid (IAA)   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this study, a pot experiment using Solanum nigrum L. grown in cadmium-contaminated soil was conducted in a greenhouse. Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was applied at three different concentrations (1 mg L?1, 10 mg L?1, and 100 mg L?1) to examine the effects on phytoremediation efficiency. According to the experimental results, IAA increased the shoot biomass of S. nigrum significantly, by 124% at the highest concentration used, and increased the Cd concentration in the shoot of S. nigrum by 16%. The Cd extraction amount from a single plant was increased by up to 158%, demonstrating potential practical application for remediation practice.  相似文献

In two long-term field experiments the zinc (Zn)/cadmium (Cd) hyperaccumulator Sedum plumbizincicola (S. plumbizincicola) was examined to optimize the phytoextraction of metal contaminated soil by two agronomic strategies of intercropping with maize (Zea mays) and plant densities. Soil total Zn and Cd concentrations decreased markedly after long-term phytoextraction. But shoot biomass and Cd and Zn concentrations showed no significant difference with increasing remediation time. In the intercropping experiment the phytoremediation efficiency in the treatment “S. plumbizincicola intercropped with maize” was higher than in S. plumbizincicola monocropping, and Cd concentrations of corn were below the maximum national limit. In the plant density experiment the phytoremediation efficiency increased with increasing plant density and 440,000 plants ha?1 gave the maximum rate. These results indicated that S. plumbizincicola at an appropriate planting density and intercropped with maize can achieve high remediation efficiency to contaminated soil without affecting the cereal crop productivity. This cropping system combines adequate agricultural production with soil heavy metal phytoextraction.  相似文献

In this study, pot experiments were carried out to investigative the effects of growth-promoting hormone diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate (DA-6), 6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BA), and chelator [S,S]-Ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid (EDDS) when applied to soil contaminated with cadmium (Cd). The substances were applied alone and in combination to assess their impact on biomass, Cd phytoextraction, subcellular distribution, and chemical forms in Cd hyperaccumulator Amaranthus hybridus Linn. (A. hybridus). Results showed that the treatment of EDDS alone inhibited plant growth, and raised the Cd concentration in the plant shoot and root. Treatments with DA-6 and 6-BA combined with EDDS alleviated the negative effect of EDDS on plant growth, resulting in a synergistic effect on Cd phytoaccumulation and translocation. At the subcellular level, DA-6 and 6-BA detoxified the Cd toxicity in the plant by retaining the Cd in the cell wall. On the distribution of the chemical form of Cd in plant shoot, DA-6 and 6-BA significantly decreased Cd mobility in the plant compared to EDDS. These results confirmed that combining DA-6 and 6-BA with EDDS can counteract the adverse effect of EDDS on plant growth. The treatment of 5.0 mmol kg?1 EDDS + 1 μM DA-6 was optimal for improving the remediation of A. hybridus Linn. growing in Cd contaminated soil.  相似文献

The heavy metal cadmium (Cd) is highly toxic to humans and can enter food chains from contaminated crop fields. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of Cd accumulation in crop species will aid production of safe Cd-free food. Here, we identified a single recessive gene that allowed higher Cd translocation in rice, and also determined the chromosomal location of the gene. The Cd hyperaccumulator rice variety Cho-Ko-Koku showed 3.5-fold greater Cd translocation than the no-accumulating variety Akita 63 under hydroponics. Analysis of an F2 population derived from these cultivars gave a 1:3 segregation ratio for high:low Cd translocation. This indicates that a single recessive gene controls the high Cd translocation phenotype. A QTL analysis identified a single QTL, qCdT7, located on chromosome 7. On a Cd-contaminated field, Cd accumulation in the F2 population showed continuous variation with considerable transgression. Three QTLs for Cd accumulation were identified and the peak of the most effective QTL mapped to the same region as qCdT7. Our data indicate that Cd translocation mediated by the gene on qCdT7 plays an important role in Cd accumulation on contaminated soil.  相似文献

The ability of hyperaccumulator oilcake manure as compared to chelates was investigated by growing Calendula officinalis L for phytoremediation of cadmium and lead contaminated alluvial soil. The combinatorial treatment T6 [2.5 g kg?1oilcake manure + 5 mmol kg?1 EDDS] caused maximum cadmium accumulation in root, shoot and flower up to 5.46, 4.74 and 1.37 mg kg?1and lead accumulation up to 16.11, 13.44 and 3.17 mg kg?1, respectively at Naini dump site, Allahabad (S3). The treatment showed maximum remediation efficiency for Cd (RR = 0.676%) and Pb (RR = 0.202%) at Mumfordganj contaminated site (S2). However, the above parameters were also observed at par with the treatment T5 [2.5 g kg?1oilcake manure +2 g kg?1 humic acid]. Applied EDDS altered chlorophyll–a, chlorophyll–b, and carotene contents of plants while application of oilcake manure enhanced their contents in plant by 3.73–8.65%, 5.81–17.65%, and 7.04–17.19%, respectively. The authors conclude that Calendula officinalis L has potential to be safely grown in moderately Cd and Pb-contaminated soils and application of hyperaccumulator oilcake manure boosts the photosynthetic pigments of the plant, leading to enhanced clean-up of the cadmium and lead-contaminated soils. Hence, the hyperaccumulator oilcake manure should be preferred over chelates for sustainable phytoremediation through soil-plant rhizospheric process.  相似文献

Thlaspi caerulescens is a Zn and Cd hyperaccumulator, and has been tested for its phytoremediation potential. In this paper we examine the relationships between the concentrations of Zn and Cd in soil and in T. caerulescens shoots, and calculate the rates of Zn and Cd extraction from soil. Using published data from field surveys, field and pot experiments, we show that the concentrations of Zn and Cd in the shoots correlate with the concentrations of Zn and Cd in soils in a log-linear fashion over three orders of magnitude. There is little systematic difference between different populations of T. caerulescens in the relationship between soil and plant Zn concentrations. In contrast, populations from southern France are far superior to those from other regions in Cd accumulation. Bioaccumulation factors (plant to soil concentration ratio) for Zn and Cd decrease log-linearly with soil metal concentration. Model calculations show that phytoremediation using T. caerulescens is feasible when soil is only moderately contaminated with Zn and Cd, and the phytoremediation potential is better for Cd than for Zn if the populations from southern France are used. Recent progress in the understanding of the mechanisms of Zn and Cd uptake by T. caerulescens is also reviewed.  相似文献

When grown on contaminated soil, hyperaccumulator plants contain high concentrations of metals which may return to the soil after senescence. This work was undertaken to assess the availability of Cd and Zn associated to the leaves of the hyperaccumulator Thlaspi caerulescens after incorporation into an uncontaminated soil. A Zn- and Cd- accumulator population of T. caerulescens was grown on a Cd- and Zn- contaminated soil previously labelled with 109Cd. Leaves (TCL) were harvested, dried, ground and incorporated into the soil at a rate of 2.07 mg Cd kg−1 and 51.9 mg Zn kg−1. Then a pot experiment was conducted for 3 months with rye grass (Lolium perenne) and T. caerulescens. Rye grass was harvested monthly and T. caerulescens at the end of the experiment. Plant biomass was measured, along with the concentration of Cd, Zn and 109Cd. Results showed that water-extractable metals in TCL were 69% for Zn and 33% for Cd. Addition of TCL to soil, depleted growth of rye grass, and improved that of T. caerulescens. At harvest, concentrations of both metals were increased in plants by TCL. Concentrations of Cd in rye grass increased with the cut number, while that of Zn decreased slightly. Rye grass extracted 1.6% of the total Cd and 0.9% of the total Zn, and T. caerulescens extracted up to 22.4% of the Cd and 7% of the Zn. About 94% of the Cd in rye grass and 86% in T. caerulescens was derived from TCL. In conclusion, metals associated with leaves of the hyperaccumulator T. caerulescens were very mobile after incorporation into the soil. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The accumulation and removal efficiency of Fe by Centella asiatica was carried out at various Fe concentrations in soil treatments (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg Fe/kg soil). Iron accumulation in different parts of C. asiatica (leaf, stem and root) was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Factorial experiment with a completely randomized design and Duncan's test were used for data analyses. The results revealed that C. asiatica have the ability to uptake and accumulate Fe significantly (p < 0.05; r = 0.977) in the aerial parts. The different soil treatments had significant effect on the total Fe accumulations in C. asiatica (p < 0.05). The potential of C. asiatica as a metal hyperaccumulator plant, harvested for analysis, shows efficient accumulation of Fe at high concentration (p < 0.05; r = 0.977). The root showed the highest accumulation of Fe followed by the leaves (p < 0.05) and the stem (p < 0.05). The Pearson correlation coefficient between leaves and root have showed highly significant correlation (p < 0.01; r = 0.785) as compared to the leaves and stem (p < 0.01; r = 0.780). The efficiency of Fe removal by C. asiatica from the contaminated soil has been evaluated by bioconcentration factor and translocation factor, found to be >1 and <1, respectively, further supporting its metal hyperaccumulator properties.  相似文献

In order to select appropriate amendments for cropping hyperaccumulator or normal plants on contaminated soils and establish the relationship between Cd sorption characteristics of soil amendments and their capacity to reduce Cd uptake by plants, batch sorption experiments with 11 different clay minerals and organic materials and a pot experiment with the same amendments were carried out. The pot experiment was conducted with Sedum alfredii and maize (Zea mays) in a co-cropping system. The results showed that the highest sorption amount was by montmorillonite at 40.82 mg/g, while mica was the lowest at only 1.83 mg/g. There was a significant negative correlation between the n value of Freundlich equation and Cd uptake by plants, and between the logarithm of the stability constant K of the Langmuir equation and plant uptake. Humic acids (HAs) and mushroom manure increased Cd uptake by S. alfredii, but not maize, thus they are suitable as soil amendments for the co-cropping S. alfredii and maize. The stability constant K in these cases was 0.14–0.16 L/mg and n values were 1.51–2.19. The alkaline zeolite and mica had the best fixation abilities and significantly decreased Cd uptake by the both plants, with K ≥ 1.49 L/mg and n ≥ 3.59.  相似文献

A cadmium(II)-resistant fungus, strain F2, isolated from blende soil was identified as Phoma sp. by morphological study and internal transcribed spacer sequencing. This strain could accumulate 280 mg of Cd(II)/g dry weight mycelium. In liquid medium containing 163.8 mg Cd(II)/L, 96% of Cd(II) was removed by the actively growing mycelium. In addition, both oven-dried and lyophilized mycelium could effectively adsorb Cd(II). There were removed 91% and 46.2% of Cd(II) from 51.6 mg Cd(II)/L solution by lyophilized biomass and oven-dried biomass respectively. Transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis showed the accumulation of Cd(II) in the mycelium cell walls. Our results demonstrated that Phoma sp. F2 was a hyperaccumulator for the removal of Cd(II) from contaminated soil and water.  相似文献

An alternative method to other technologies to clean up the soil, air and water pollution by heavy metals is phytoremediation. Therefore, a pot culture experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran, in 2014 to determine the potential absorption of cadmium by Portulaca oleracea (Common purslane), Solanum nigrum (Black nightshade), Abutilon theophrasti (Velvetleaf) and Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion). The type of experiment was completely randomized design with factorial arrangement and four replications. The soil in pot was treated with different rates of CdCl2.H2O (0 (control), 10, 20, 40, 60, and 80 mg Cd/kg soil) and the plants were sown. With increasing concentration levels, fresh weight and dry weight of shoots and roots of all plant species were reduced. The reduction severity was ranked according the following order, P. oleracea > A. theophrasti > S. nigrum > T. officinale. Bioconcentration factor (BCF), Translocation factor (TF) and Translocation efficiency (TE%) was ranked according the following order, T. officinale > S. nigrum > A. theophrasti > P. oleracea. The results of this study revealed that T. officinale and S. nigrum are effective species to phytoremediate Cd-contaminated soil.  相似文献
